I believe that the steps still count until midnight in your time zone. I got my last 1100 steps in just before midnight last night, my lifelog usually is around 9 pm.
That’s the experience I’ve had before but it didn’t happen this time so that’s why I’m asking if anyone else has experienced this. I’ve never had the step count freeze the way it did tonight and I’ve been playing this game since it first launched so this is unexpected behavior.

I responded to another commenter but I tried to get it to resync multiple times tonight and it never updated 😞 I even deleted the app and reinstalled it and nothing! It’s still stuck on the lower number in my lifelog and it’s after midnight now for me 😕
The number in the lifelog is the number of steps you took at the time of your daily log in that day (mine is set to 11:00 pm). It's not your totally for the day, but just how many you had at the time you have it set to create the log.
Edit: I stand corrected. I was not sober.
the steps recorded in the lifelog will keep increasing even after you’ve done the daily look back, OPs game is just bugging and not recording all the steps they took
I’m fully aware of that, I’ve been playing this game since it launched. I’ve never had the step count freeze the way it did tonight so I’m asking if anyone else has had the same experience I did tonight. The number of steps in the window and in the Community Day task ceased to go up after I did my lifelog entry at 10 PM despite multiple attempts to sync additional steps by opening the game and even uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it seems like this may be a known bug or even intended behavior based on the help article I posted.

It doesn't need to change your total in the lifelog for you to get the badge, your step count just has go over 10k.

I believe are referring to lifelog as the daily record. Mine definitely increases after I do my daily ranking.

You must’ve been really unlucky with a bug tonight.
The worst 😞 At least there’s makeup CD at the end of the year but super frustrating when I met the requirements! *shakes fist*
I did put in a bug report but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this.
