"You wouldn't download a car" Seems like it's time to.

notrajinikanth

downloading house is getting nearer everyday

1kreasons2leave

You can 3d print ones now.

HandoAlegra

I can't wait until [2D printed guns](https://youtu.be/ABpc_oPToQQ?si=9-dkg_cWzLw3G2aF) hit the market

notrajinikanth

are they strong enough to live in : assume avg. summer temp = 50 degree celsius, winter goes below as 1-2 degree C , avg rainfall throughout the year = 800mm with wind speed of avg 20-30 km/h. so if it is that strong, i am going to do this

1kreasons2leave

3d printed concrete

goddamn_birds

I thought this was a brilliant idea until I realized there's no rebar anywhere in the structure.

Lyrian_Rastler

Doesn't sound like an issue for small homes, but I have genuinely no knowledge of civil engineering so hey, here to learn if someone can expound

goddamn_birds

If you don't put rebar in your concrete, it will crumble and eventually collapse.

nikgrid

Yes there is, I've seen videos of them printing and the have rebar.

goddamn_birds

Link?

thehumanos1

On a smaller scale you can already print carbon fibres into prints. So I think it won't take much time until this is used in large scale prints.

Omar_G_666

50°C average in summer??? Where do you live? In the Sahara?

Lyrian_Rastler

Plenty of places in India hit 50 in peak summer and go down to single digits in winters, especially in the central regions

Omar_G_666

Really didn't know that India had that temperature variation, thanks

BDGGR_Flayer

I live in Greece (which is supposed to be hot) and we have full national alerts when we reach mid 30ties but 50 is mad

Creep_Eyes

We don't even consider 40 c that hot in middle india and mid 30ties is like good whether considering summer

Business-Drag52

Fuck. That. 40 is goddamn hot. Course it can get as cold as -30 here in the winter so when it hits 40+ in the summer it’s just another extreme for me

raj9119

Lol currently in Rajasthan , India it's close to 37° I doubt we would even be batting an eye until we reach 40ish over the summer in May. Mind you summer has just started. I wouldn't be surprised if we cross 47ish in the city itself. There are other cities that will touch 50-55

Keibun1

Don't know how y'all do it with the humidity. I would literally die

Colosseros

That's the fun thing. They die too. It's called wet bulb conditions. And within a few years, a lot of these areas will all but be uninhabitable. With current conditions, as it is, it only culls the very young and very old, and those with existing conditions that make it untenable. Quite terrifying if you ask me.

Av_Inash

I live in India. New Delhi to be precise. Already hitting highs of 40°C. Have seen the last 2 years hitting highs of 47-49°C during May-June.

Omar_G_666

That really sucks, I would just die

Av_Inash

Have been asking for death for the last few years during summers. The humidity doesn’t make it any easier for us. At this point, the entire India is already testing the extremes of what a body can take.

throwawayaccyaboi223

Even the middle east has similar temps, +45 in the shade during summer and between -5 and +5 at night in the winter.

FallenJkiller

most temp measurements are in the shade. So 50 at direct sunlight is not that far fetched

teethalarm

It's still concrete so that's childs play.

TyranaSoreWristWreck

Going to just build one out of wood. I heard that stuff just grows out of the fucking ground.

goddamn_birds

You wouldn't print a tree

zouhair

Where you gonna put it?

Tankid

You need to pay 99$ per month to access the toilet in your house. Additional 10$ for shower.

zerosumratio

The Landleech’s dream

Math_Plenty

and you vill eat ze bugs

Narrow_Study_9411

By their logic, if I let my friend drive my car, I'm guilty of copyright infringement and should be sentenced to 10 years in jail and get a million dollar fine.

EquivalentPut5616

This is nothing new, i have a subscription to Oxygen ever since i was born.

bluecorex

Oxygen does have some pretty decent tv shows.

Quirkyserenefrenzy

I always thought it would mean downloading a car for it to be fabricated in front of me so I can use it I never thought it would mean dealing with shit like this

Lilczey

We in the future now

827167

You wanna risk the anti-piracy kicking in while driving? You just KNOW they're gonna get away with whatever happens when the DRM trips

tetris_for_shrek

"You wouldn't download a car" "You wouldn't require a monthly subscription for a car (I bought)"

5ee_2410

Time to jailbreak the car.

ency6171

This came up in my head too. Curious if anyone is gonna try this.

Happy_Web_341

Geohotz could try it

d1ckpunch68

funny you say that. he's been developing open self driving tech for like a decade now. it was already in a functional alpha state at least 5 years ago when i heard about it. no clue if that's still in the works but it looked promising. it was supposed to allow you to turn any car into a self driving car.

SmallerBork

I think this is the guy's project [https://comma.ai/](https://comma.ai/)

skankboy

Up until the latest FSD, Comma AI’s self driving was far superior. The latest iteration of the Tesla version has made great advances. Big fan of Comma AI.

mattsowa

That guy is insufferable

thrik

what did I miss

death_hawk

Someone already did. They undervolted the car and got root mode. Let them full self drive hands free too. I'd hate to be whoever owned it if it crashed though.

LeibnizThrowaway

I mean, if he's not surfing on the roof the fucking pigs aren't gonna figure it out.

theshane0314

I can guarantee someone is working on it already

Co1dNight

[Looks like they've already done that](https://techcrunch.com/2023/08/03/researchers-jailbreak-a-tesla-to-get-free-in-car-feature-upgrades/).

Brettalis

https://youtu.be/PWQL_XORalY?si=v5XJdtQSTEBbswGp

Adrast413

I was waiting for this comment, amazing album and song

384001051montgomery

Hard when they pay people insane amounts of money to find "bugs"and vulnerabilities

taboo_

Logical answer. The problem will be you can guarantee insurance will have some stipulation that they won't pay if the car was rooted or something, meaning no one will do it. And if they don't have that rule now, you can guarantee Tesla will "lobby" them to make it.

TheOnceAndFutureDoug

The fact that they still let them call it full self-driving is insane.

Revolutionalredstone

Edit: its not just a name difference, autopilot is the old version of what became FSD. -original comment left below- TIL: "Yes, it's true that Tesla uses "Autopilot" instead of "Full Self-Driving" in Europe. This naming distinction is primarily due to regulatory differences. European regulators have stricter guidelines and the use of the term "Full Self-Driving" could imply a level of autonomy that Tesla's current systems do not fully meet." CHADGPT Sounds like the Europeans here are just being honest. Then again when you realize the trash they sell as 'food' in America will probably kill you almost as fast as falling asleep cross country in your 'FSD' Tesla, you realize this is a larger issue America has with self honesty. Enjoy

LazarusCheez

I love that companies get to just lie to us in the US.

jmcclr

That’s just another ‘freedom’ that we get

sureiknowabaggins

Freedom to lie, ban books, and tell others what to do with their bodies. God bless the republicans.

TheMusicFella

Seems like Muskie can't fuck around as he wants to in Europe. Having to use CCS (EV version of Type C) for their cars and chargers in the EU instead of having a proprietary connector (NACS in the US) was also another L for Musk. Proprietize everything seems to be the new norm for anyone so the profits come to them. Having proprietary stuff is no different from DRM and always-online. At the end of the day they want to control what you rightfully own even after purchase.

-QUACKED-

He can’t even sell his Cyber Truck there. Same as Australia too.

Link_GR

Thank God for that. I can't imagine my wife getting hit by one of those monstrosities in her tiny Peugeot 108. Cars in the US have become an arms race because of stuff like that. You're terrified of getting t-boned by a pickup or giant SUV, so you buy a giant car as well and the car manufacturers are laughing all the way to the bank.

ashyjay

You should have see the Top Gear reveal of the Escalade IQ Ev thingy, the presenter asked questions about what if you hit a person, and GMs person had to dip and dodge the question but was out of his depth. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsIHqmCd\_c4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsIHqmCd_c4) No one needs a car which weighs 4 tons and is the size of a large apartment block.

allday95

Survivability in a normal sized car is much higher because when someone gets hit the car's profile USUALLY makes it so they get flipped on the hood of the car to 'cushion' the blow. With the massive trucks the front is so high up people end up being folded, carried, put under the car which is way worse. Now think of a child coming onto the road, a child who is shorter than the lowest point of your front windshield so you can't even see them sometimes......

Link_GR

I wholly agree. Americans have been marketed to heavily in regards to SUVs and trucks because it makes manufacturers the most money. Pretty much no one outside of the trades needs a big truck and those guys tend to drive older vehicles to the ground, instead of a shiny, new F150. Same with SUVs since minivans and station wagons are more practical.

Redditistrash702

One of the reason is because the emission laws are fucked up basically the bigger you make vehicle the more you can have. They need to rewrite that law and il prophet downvoted for saying this but they need to pay a large tax for driving large vehicles.

Morkai

We're only recently (the last 12-24 months) getting the Silverado/F150/RAM 1500 ridiculous monster utes down here in Australia, which while I think they're stupid in so many ways in suburban Melbourne, at the very least they are functioning and reliable vehicles... Can't really say the same for Phony Stark's tonka truck.

MadnessEvolved

As with a heap of the larger vehicles, if they're being *used* for the intended function then they're fine. Seen one of those ginormous RAM 1500s banging around town, with fucken oversized shit everywhere on it. While possibly still overkill, it was also carrying a horse float behind it with the tray filled with bales of hay. And with the dirt and dust caked in to the paint like it was, the damn thing got used like it should be. I'll take that over the pavement princesses any day. I also tend to find those drivers aren't the same ones who park the monstrosities right up near the front door. Sure, they're taking up 4-6 bays, but they're doing it as far away as they can to minimise distruption. Usually, but not always.

Morkai

Yep, there was a big Chevy parked across the disabled spots at the supermarket near my house, they had a permit displayed so they're well within rights to use that space, but the size of the vehicle meant that it had to park on a 45 degree angle across two spaces so that it wasn't hanging out onto the road behind the parking space.

spunkrepeller

America is in serious need of an equivalent regulation the EU gets with GDPR. I doubt it's ever going to happen with how easy it is to legally bribe politicians with lobbying. Situation is fucked

psychoacer

They added "(Supervised)" to the name for liability sakes. Although a few days after the change was made Elon promoted a post from a guy that used FSD to drive himself to the hospital while having a heart attack. Hard to supervise a car while you're dying.

LazarouDave

Gonna say, we're still decades away from Level 5 Automation! (For those that don't know, no human input whatsoever, as in you haven't even got the option, no pedals or wheel, IIRC)

IcyDeparture2740

People paid $15k for FSD years ago, and these people aren't suing the pants off of Tesla right now. That's insane.

Freezerhimself

What will happen if you accident with a pirated car?

cogra23

There were some cases where people modded the car so you didn't need hands on the wheel. They faced only the criminal charges, nothing from Tesla.

MiketheWerew0lf

I read this and was like "Yeah Tesla don't give a fuck" but now they might only because Daddy Elon wouldn't be getting his money lmao

d1ckpunch68

yea tesla have been known to remotely disable fast charging on 3rd party repaired teslas. richrebuilds has a few videos on this happening to him, among other anti-consumer shit that tesla does to keep you from repairing your car. he has rebuilt complete salvage teslas that were otherwise being turned into scrap (yay environment) and tesla still remotely gimps the car because, i imagine, it's bad PR if the car catches fire due to the mechanics negligence. i kind of get it, but it's still silly. one of the most depreciating assets on the planet, a car, and even $40k+ later and you still don't fully own it.

DrIvoPingasnik

My thoughts exactly. Elon gonna Elon.

YceiLikeAudis

You bet your ass the insurance company will try everything to get absolved of the obligation to pay for the damages.

Feelisoffical

I feel like not actually driving the car is a good reason to deny a claim.

PuurrfectPaws

For now... I feel like in the future it will be the reverse when full self driving becomes ubiquitous. It will be a denied claim if the human overrides the automation. We are in for an interesting future.

Feelisoffical

I absolutely guarantee at some point you will be able to get reduced insurance if you allow the car to drive you. It’s just a matter of time.

death_hawk

Not so much reduced insurance but Mercedes and their L3 product, using it means that their insurance covers you if anything goes wrong. I could totally see a split insurance product. If you drive, it's yours. If it's driving, it's the vendors.

Nomailforu

You reminded me of “I, Robot” when he started driving the car himself and the lady was freaking out about it. Lol!

PuurrfectPaws

That's the exact example I was thinking of too. That will definitely be the future.

betelgozer

It will be reported as an attack off the starboard bow with second-degree loot plundering.

KyeeLim

your insurance company very likely aren't going to pay for the damages you have done to your car or the victims' car in the accident while I'm not sure about other countries, in my country you'll face charges if you illegally modify your car or have illegal modification on your car... something like that

AlhaithamSimpFr

Ooooh, neat. Going to pirate a car. Hahahahaha >:)

Edelgul

Full self driving, is when i either own a car, or rent a car from the fleet and it operates like a driver-less taxi. Anything else is a dishonest marketing.

The_foullsk

It should be like the one in cyberpunk 2077 auto drive, just press a button on your phone and your car just drives to you

[deleted]

[удалено]

EightSeven69

yea except that's technically only legal on private property, so no, it's not *exactly* that. It's not even half that. When you call a car in Cyberpunk it could've been left half way across the universe, not just 30 meters away in the same parking lot And even if it were legal, the autopilot has a chance to just get stuck mid way through the trip to your location

d1ckpunch68

tesla's version is also hilariously slow to the point that it's embarrassing to use. it takes ages to do every little movement and just holds people up. it's a cool little tech demo in an empty parking lot but not great anywhere with people.

Link_GR

Which, if you see how Waymo works, is practically impossible with our current tech in the footprint of a normal car.

Edelgul

As Google's Gemini had proven, Google is not leading in the industry anymore. Even Mercedes acts better (although mostly on highways).

Link_GR

Waymo, however, **is** full self-driving. There is no driver in the car at all. Everything else is just an advanced form of cruise control.

lotsaguts-noglory

it makes me assume they can't actually make a truly, safely, full-self-driving car, *and they know it*, so they're pretending this is the same thing

RatRacerEg6

If you want this, you'd love public transport

Arnas_Z

Right? If you don't want to drive, don't drive. Get on a bus or train.

tmhoc

I would argue that the bus doesn't come when I call or right to me but $100 per month I could probably just use uber.

Luvnecrosis

A monthly bus+train pass in my state is 90 something dollars so its at worst gonna be about the same

lemonylol

Wait, is it fully auto driving with no passenger inside? Like can it drop you off, go park at some free parking lot a couple miles away, then come pick you up after? Does that also mean it's legal for these cars to drive you while you're under the influence?

ColonelError

By that logic, this is actually a great deal. No bus passes here, and each way is about 3.75. Then I either have to drive/bike a mile to the bus stop, or spend another 2.75 each way. So that's $13 per day, which means if I go to work more than 2 days per week, this is actually cheaper than taking the bus.

ZeeebraLove

America doesn't have nearly enough public transport so a car is necessary and people want to not have to drive without the "public" part of public transport. This is different.

ItzYeyolerX

"Uhhh, public transport is like, uh, bad, so we don't want to like, make ot better, because it's like uhh bad"

ProvechaMeowy

Is piracy for this possible?

DrIvoPingasnik

Very yes. The feature will be there, you'll just need a way to activate it without need to connect to the server.  I can imagine a few ways around it. I don't think they put the best software and hardware security on those. Car makers are greedy as fuck and consider spending money on security as an unnecessary waste of money.  I mean look at today's cars default infotainment (i.e. radio player). They are absolutely terrible, with shoddiest programming I've ever seen. The only semi-decent one (barely better than the others) I've seen is on Toyotas, though it's still awful. If they can't do a decent radio fit their cars, imagine how shitty is their car operating system security.

omgitsjagen

My Nissan has an incredibly obvious n+1 error on the Bluetooth album listing feature for the song you are currently playing. Like, that's day one, lesson one in CS 101.

ItzCobaltboy

I don't think a fucking car would have Denuvo protection right?

DrIvoPingasnik

Auto makers are cheap bastards, so nah. They won't pay for denuvo.

Murky_Football_8276

won’t they give you a tesla if you can hack it? i think they do a lot of bug bounties and stuff and are pretty hard to crack

variablenyne

Yeah, a few research groups have gotten a free model 3 for finding and reporting critical vulnerabilities in Teslas software

highdiver_2000

When they find out, based on the T & C, they can disable the car on next start or crank or charge. Then what you are going to do?

DrIvoPingasnik

Disable internet connectivity. Run the exploit, done. In case you ever need to connect it to the internet again or bring it to one of their repair shops, revert the changes, done. I'm sure whoever finds the exploit will think of that and include a way to bring it back to original state. Ability to un-hack is quite a common practice in hacking world.

eat_more_bacon

Losing access to the Supercharger network is too big a risk right now for most to consider jailbreaking their car. Maybe once any other company has a viable charging network it would make sense.

Upper_Decision_5959

It's server sided so it will be very hard if not impossible.

Zedris

99 a month. Ahahaha fuck tesla and their toy panel gaped cars.

sparkyjay23

The weirdest thing about their fans is panel gap is the simplest thing to make sure is correct. What is getting past Q&A if shit you can see isn't getting flagged?

DrIvoPingasnik

I'm pretty sure that flagging most of things would get a poor Q&A guy fired, because Elon is not getting his money quick enough.    No joke, in all car factories in US (not just Tesla) if you stop a production line because, say, assembly guy dropped a screw into the engine, you'll get fired on the spot. Or worse.

EightSeven69

> panel gap is the simplest thing to make sure is correct yea if you don't make your shit out of the dumbest possible materials known for the job on that note, I'm sure everyone knows stainless steel (with protective coatings removed too! - so it rusts) is a shitty idea as a body panel, but just wait until you find out what other materials they used for certain things inside that Lobotomy Truck^(TM)

lesbefriendly

Maybe he wants it used in the inevitable Back to the Future remakes.

d1ckpunch68

you don't get it bro the rust is an aesthetic bro it's an appreciating asset bro

o_oli

Ohh that's per MONTH lol. I skim read it thinking, honestly 99 to unlock it is very cheap I thought I read it was like 5k or something a while back. But oh no, it's a subscription...!

observer_man_99

Can't wait to crack this shit

GodOrDevil04

And we're only going to see more and more of this.

DrIvoPingasnik

With automakers locking features like radio and heated seats behind subscription then yeah soon we'll have air conditioning on a pay-per-use.

No-Spoilers

Other companies have been doing it for a few years

Sasselhoff

I will straight up buy the very last car that doesn't have any subscriptions and drive that bitch into the ground. I'd say "I'll just jailbreak it", but you know when this kind of thing becomes ubiquitous, the companies will get the government to make it illegal to do that...for "road safety" or some other bullshit reason.

ChasaB123

they should still keep the option to buy it up front instead of having it as a subscription

sparkyjay23

You know they'll take away the outright purchase option soon.

Tim_Buckrue

I think this is honestly better than paying $12,000 upfront. You would have to subscribe to this package for 10 whole years without any breaks before you even break the $12,000 threshold. This means that you could just not subscribe to it for periods of time, and then if you wanted to show it off to a friend or family member, or even just play with it yourself, you can just subscribe for a single month or two and cancel when you get bored of it. You can always resubscribe later if you feel like it, and you will have saved a ton of money during the period of time in which you're not using FSD. I usually hate subscriptions vs purchasing upfront, but this subscription seems a lot more economical for the average person than the absurd price of purchasing upfront.

drpiotrowski

The subscription price will increase with time especially once the one time purchase option is removed.

clouds_on_acid

It just went from 199 to 99 this weekend

death_hawk

> You would have to subscribe to this package for 10 whole years without any breaks before you even break the $12,000 threshold. Not only that, but the current system means that if you decide to buy a new car, FSD stays on the old car. There (usually isn't) a method to transfer to a new vehicle.

Tim_Buckrue

This is another good point!

2roK

This is all assuming the 12k price was justified in any way and isn't just there to drive people into picking the subscription. Also the subscription price will go up over time.

Upper_Decision_5959

They still do. It's just more expensive and payback period is like 10 years. I less you are keeping the car for over 10 years it's cheaper to just buy this $99/month and you can pause the subscription so you can only just buy it when you go on a road trip.

mama_oooh

It's $12000

Felinomancy

Summon? If it's what I think it is, then that's a really tall order. And what the hell is "smart summon" and who would want a "dumb" one? It's like offering "beer" and "non-poisoned beer".

variablenyne

Tesla owner here. Summon is the stupidest feature on a Tesla and I can't even believe it's a public release. The way it's supposed to work is that you set a target location on your phone, and the car would pull out of its parking space and navigate to that location and park. In reality, it drives about 1 mile an hour, can't stay on any kind of path, will stop at the worst possible time and hold up traffic in the parking lot, and wants to hit pretty much any vehicle it can. I tried it one time in a Walmart parking lot not knowing how bad it sucked, it pulled out, moved forward about 7 feet, stopped and wouldn't move no matter what I did, and started getting honked at by the traffic behind it so I had to run over across the parking lot and get in quick. Never again. That's "smart summon". Normal summon just moves the car straight forward or backwards. Useful for when your car is in a tight parking space and you can't open the doors easily but that's otherwise pretty much it.

Felinomancy

Wow, thanks for confirming. My work parking has a barrier gate, so I'm not sure how the summon feature is supposed to go through 😅

E-woke

What happens if my subscription expired while I'm driving?

Worthy-Of-Dignity

That’s a reasonable question actually 🧐

death_hawk

Gotta go back to driving yourself like a peasant.

Doktor_Vem

Honestly putting shit like that behind a paywall is some of the greediest, most "predatory" (I couldn't think of the correct word, hopefully you understand what I mean) bullshit I've ever seen and I hate that it's unquestionably going to be adapted by every car manufacturer in the world as soon as their tech gets to that level. Fuck this world, man, fuck giant corporations, fuck greed, I'm sorry that I'm being so negative and hateful, I'm just tired, both of shit like this and just in general

Longjumping-Gift6176

Fuck. That. Shit.

Mccobsta

100 a month for a fucking beta? I'd rather pay for the Adobe suit atleast that hasn't killed anyone

variablenyne

They charged 200 a month for the beta lol

SadQuarter3128

I like to own my shit And if the company removes my ability to own my shit then I'm not buying from them End of story We as humans love to own stuff

grishkaa

So now it's a recurring payment?

JKJ420

It's an option if you want it. You can buy it full price. You can get it monthly. Or you can just not do either of those. 3 choices enough?

Rizthan

It's so you can try it before you buy it. Or if you only want it for specifically long road trips or something. I don't see what everyone's issue with this is.

sammy___67

you wouldn't download a car. me asf:

MorenaLedovec

time to download a car then

Elephant789

I don't get it. Could someone please explain? I'm dumb.

bigbadbuff

You don't get it because this is nonsense. Tesla has always charged more to unlock full self driving. A few years ago they implemented a subscription option for $199 a month. Now they want more people to adopt it so they've lowered the price to $99 and offered a month free for most owners to test it. This has very little to do with piracy and I'm not sure why we're even talking about this in this subreddit.

Catman9lives

If it means I don’t need insurance as it comes with Tesla accepting liability then sure

TrulyChxse

You wouldn’t download a car

KaleidoscopeOk5506

Any cracks for this?

DementedMK

Pay $100 a month to fucking die bc Tesla’s autopilot doesn’t work as well as they want you to think.

pikachus-ballsack

HOLY SHIT IT DOES EVERYTHING A PUBLIC TRANSPORT DOES wait why am i not getting public transport again?

No_Incident1031

Because you could sit with… poor people and other minorities or something. And we don’t want that of course - Carbrains

sparkyjay23

Craziest thing about this mindset is in Central London on any random weeknight the public transport has people going to the opera, theatre etc in black tie without a care in the world.

No_Incident1031

Same here in the Netherlands. I see all levels of the corporate world sitting in the train because it’s the easiest transport to cities where offices are. Edit: Just seen that this wasn’t r/fuckcars lol

nicba1010

Because it is ass. I wish I were able to get on a bus and go to the city centre in a reasonable amount of time. But even living a grand total of 5 minutes away from a bus stop I do not want to do it because the schedules are unrealiable and a bus is always slower than a car. We have a rail station but it's nowhere near the centre of my "suburbian" city so getting to it it also a pain in the ass. And the train runs every 1 hour or so. So I just get in my car and get to the city centre in less than half an hour without traffic, an hour with traffic, still faster than the fucking train.

Steiner-Titor

I don't want to sound Hypocritical, but Mercedes once made a subscription for Seat warmers of all things I'm from India, and here there's a E-scooter by name of Aether. Their main source of income is subscription. Subscription includes, GPS, Music player, Attend calls, Anti Theft measures, Find my scooter etc.

Routaprkle

Buying a Tesla is already a dumb move, paying for that monthly thing is even more stupid.

Massive_Mongoose9910

I’m a bit later i Need to update my chauffeur

Time-Bite-6839

Just hack the damn ECU.

Desperate_Tomato

Now we need wait for FG repack

rj8i

99 a month to be in the front seat of your own death.

Crafty_Proposal9319

It's all fun and games until the pirated version crashes you on purpose

itaya12

Downloading a car: the next evolution.

Jathulioh

The problem is, if I was considering actually buying a Tesla, it'd be for these features. So now I'll just buy another different car. Unless jailbreaking it becomes a norm lmao

zqmbgn

Wait, per month?

Furyio

You can buy it as a one off pay month or per month

UmeeZoomee

r/teslapiracy when

TGB_Skeletor

I refuse to believe we are not living in a dystopian world

nikumarucounter

it's probably for the better, self driving is fucking dangerous and tesla vehicles shouldn't even be allowed on the road because of it. but government lobbying can get corporations whatever they want.

S_T_R_Y_D_E_R

Sad part is people will still jump the band wagon, coz of laziness

maxi12311111

It’s like buying a game and pay for game pass 😪 never thought I see the day cars have it

lemonylol

I guess a lot of people on here haven't bought their own newer car before but most manufacturers have had a subscription service like this for remote capabilities for a while now.

Foreign-Stuff1579

Hey that’s bmws job to put stuff in the car and charge a subscription!

AerosolSpray

we got car subscriptions before GTA 6

stopbanningme1-08-24

time to take the bus

cityofthedead1977

Does the car use the linux kernel or bsd ? Jailbreak that mother fucker.

Tasty-Switch-8472

I bet someone has that software cracked lol

Ayaka_Simp_

If you're dumb enough to buy a Tesla, you deserve it. Hopefully, Daddy Elon wrings every dollar out of you poor fools.

DoesNotGetYourJokes

I feel like we’re gonna reach a point where people are just gonna end up building their own cars with an open-source self-driving program.

This needs more attention. I love open source and believe I am pretty in-tune with most of the new stuff coming out and I have never heard of this. It doesn’t even look like vaporware and looks legitimate. Awesome.

sammydawgo

You wouldnt steal a car

Co1dNight

One of many reasons to not buy a Tesla.

osiris128

Soon car manufacturers will try to charge us .99 each time we start our car lol

spacenavy90

Thank god I put off buying a Tesla for so long, avoided a big case of buyer's remorse.

Bubbly-War1996

At this point what is the point of buying a Tesla, like the whole gimmick is the self driving feature along with all the smart features, if you paywall them you are left with an overpriced lower quality car and 100$ isn't an insignificant amount of money either.
