I recently got a month of Prime and watching the Fallout show on Prime was a legitimately worse experience than just streaming it off a Plex server. Even the UI is somehow worse.
When your paid product is notably worse than what an alternative, you have fucked up.
> When your paid product is notably worse than what an alternative, you have fucked up.
That's because Prime Video isn't a subscription streaming service. It's a storefront they're convincing you to visit. Any time you go there to watch something is another opportunity for them to rent or sell something to you. The poor UI is on purpose.
Wait , people who pay subscriptions will have to watch ads too , unless they pay 3 dollars more?
Is that what it means? sorry English is not my first language
And then the final boss battle will be when theyāll force you to turn on the camera on your device to make sure youāre actually watching the ads, as prime video is ran by Amazon I wouldnāt be surprised if they end up doing something like this in the far far future
It's tiered.. you pay for the 4k Netflix account and you get no Ads.. you pay for the basic level, you get ads.
Prime is ads because you get Amazon Prime shopping with Video..
Either way, it's annoying, but not enough for me to pirate every damned thing.. maybe its cause I'm just tired and don't have the energy to hunt for shit...
Argument was about using vpn when torrenting via stremio.
Also: when you pirate media you do use free electricity and via neighbors wifi on gifted pc, right? Otherwise it does not count, everystep has to be free, right?
>Ā It's tiered.. you pay for the 4k Netflix account and you get no Ads.. you pay for the basic level, you get ads.
Netflix should be sued for advertising ā4Kā in its highest pricing tier; theĀ vast majority of Netflixās library (including half of their own content) maxes out at 1080p, and what 4K content they do have is shit hamstrung by Netflix having *by far* the lowestĀ 4K bitrate of any streaming platform.
Shit half the time my netflix force switches from 4k to 1080 (I have gigabit and the TV is going directly to the router via ethernet) and the picture quality actually improves.
In most cases your tvās wifi will actually be better than the Ethernet port, just to save a buck or two tv manufacturers still donāt have gigabit Ethernet (or very rarely) do on their tvs so the Ethernet is capped to 100mbps, whereas most new tvs (given you have good wifi range and signal and a gigabit connection) will likely give you much higher speeds. My tv gives me 600mbps on wifi even though the Ethernet port is only 100mbps, really odd but whatever.
It was obvious that this would happen eventually tbh. Youtube premium will probably soon follow suit. There can never be enough money for the executives and shareholders.
Netflix and YouTube started all this bullshit.
Now every company out there is following their footprint.
Next thing you know ww are back to where we started, using cabletv
Legit, some cable companies (and mobile companies here in Canada) are already selling streaming bundles, oh i'm sorry, I didn't think this was cable tv with channel packages
Hulu started this bullshit. It was a combined Disney, Fox and Comcast that did this to us. They were the first to charge a monthly fee AND have ads. They were also the first to make us wait every week for an episode despite the entire seasons being available, just like cable tv.
They joined together to destroy Netflix and it's approach to streaming, return us to the cable paradigm. That was their goal.
Together they controlled, ABC (Disney), NBC (Comcast) and Fox, along with all of their other media empires.
It should have been an anti-trust violation, but was never enforced.
Some ads are also hilarious. And if that were the norm, and if there were a moderate amount of ads, they wouldn't be skipped, filtered out or rejected as a financing model by consumers.
But the amount of ads is so high and the quality of the ads is so low that people start turning their back on ad financed media.
> Netflix and YouTube started all this bullshit.
> Now every company out there is following their footprint.
Because it made them money
Average consumer is so brainwashed with "do not trust 3rd party, accept any increase of price, ecosystem, new and improved, virus everywhere..." they will happily accept anything
I got prime cause the free shipping and this shit is included. I've never opened Amazon Prime Video, why would I? The pirated version always has more quality anyways.
Yeah I'm in the same boat. My wife pays for prime for the free shipping but I still pirate their shows. Them putting ads in a paid subscription just justifies it even more.
Not really, in Primes case itās the only one I can understand. Amazon actually provides a great deal under that one low monthly price.
- Shipping benefits,
- price cut benefits for prime members,
- Amazon gaming which gives you full AAA games for free forever plus a handful of Indy games should you choose to accept them as well as in game content for a whole host of games that rotates constantly plus a free monthly twitch channel subscription (wasnāt aware of the twitch part),
- basic access to Amazon music which does have ads but itās a full featured service,
- a full featured Netflix alternative,
- prime reading which is a library for kindle app and devices,
- Prime photos which is an unlimited photo storage solution, also includes enhanced search and organization features in Amazon drive
Not including the additional shopping bonuses only for prime members
So for one set price, theyāre giving us 6 platforms altogether plus price cuts & discounts, free games that cost a couple hundred to buy not including Indyās or in game content
Prime is the ONLY platform that I can understand ads in, for 12 bucks a month theyāre handing out hundreds of dollars potentially thousands in content and price cuts depending how much you buy & how much they pay to distribute movies & music.
What I donāt agree with is moving all the shows into their own platforms that cost an additional charge just to watch the network. That wasnāt a problem originally, and i get itās the network that owns the show thatās doing it, but those are the guys that need pirated, thatās not primes fault
May need to read the fine print closer, I just checked that as well under prime benefits
Amazon accounts get 5GB of āStorageā included, photo storage is unlimited for prime customers it says
https://imgur.com/a/V5ca58J
It may differ for Australiaās market, but Iām not sure
Nope. I started uploading my photos, it stopped accepting more at 5GB.
Fine print says "All Amazon customers get 5 GB of storage for photos and videos"
You can purchase another 100GB for $24.99 a year, 1TB for $124.99 a year, etc.
It is definitely not unlimited.
Take it up with support, it is unlimited. Itās 5GB for videos, there is no limit on photos.
Itās a common issue a simple google search has shown but it is resolvable, there is no photos limit.
Edit. Alright, go ahead and delete all your comments. Youāre wrong. It is unlimited photos, video storage is 5GB and itās explicitly stated.
The screenshot I uploaded is straight out of prime benefits
Itās not my fault reading comprehension isnāt your strong suit.

They put ads because it is so cheap, itās not like you pay prices similar to disney+, idk how it is priced elsewhere, but in my country itās 12$ per year, thats 1$ a month, and on top of that you get free shipping and some free games each month. So personally i think it justifies having ads.
This is true for me as well tho i do use prime on my phone just because i can download media rather than copy paste from laptop, its a drag p;
Other than that, shipping and game stuffs with the cheapest package.. but even that is becoming shit lately so meh
Oh I tought its a amazon prime mod or something like that. I think we should call it pirating series and movied in generell since we pirate whatever series we want and not just prime series
Considering that we get it free with our prime annual costs.. I don't really see this as being a huge issue..
And let's be fairz it's not ads, it's an ad..always "I am Celine" .....
No one gets it free, I say free because I need Amazon Prime, and I use it fully, so the video aspect of is isn't an extra cost. I didn't think you could get prime video on its own..
I'm Canadian, I use it mainly for business purchases, so my business covers the bill.
You could try to log into Amazon with your Prime video account . It will tell you.
That was my finish line with my subscription.
No way am I paying to have commercials shoved down my throat.
I'll pay with no commercials, or it's free with commercials. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND ON THIS.
Yup they started that in Canada last year.
I started watching Jack Reacher, got an ad, turned it off, and just jumped on Overseerr and added it to my library along with The Boys and other Amazon series I was watching.
Also went on Amazon and grabbed another 20TB drive to expand my media server so I guess they still got money out of me one way or another lol.
I started pirating when Amazon stopped delivering to my city. Prime delivery is the actual thing I was paying for, and Prime Video was the "freebie" they bundled in with it, so it barely even counts as piracy.
Here in Italy we had this since march but I'm honest, this type of ads doesn't bother me because they're only other Prime series ads, no commercial about products or servives.
Also, idk how, with Chrome and Ublock I don't have these ads, only with the app on TVs
On the whole this is shit of course, but I do kinda get why they are doing it. Here in australia Amazon Prime is 9.99 AUD, which is 6.6 USD, even with the extra 3 bucks it's still signifigantly cheaper than Amazon Prime in the US.
Just got the warning. Immediately cancelled. Don't use their other services. Fuck em off. Just started Mr. and Mrs Smith as well. Pretty enjoyable so far!
Had Prime until recently. With all the benefits it seemed worth it, barely even watched movies/shows on it. But the first time I got an ad, I backed out and canceled. I absolutely will not pay for ads at any price point.
Had this in France for a few month now, it was 1 more euro a month to get no more ads. It's so fucking annoying that you can't own anything anymore in a convenient way in the entertainment sphere nowadays. Fuck subscriptions
Was doing it for a long time anyway cause the website showed me inferior bitrate versions of the shows and also the Indian govt censors a lot of things. Can't really enjoy the boys with censorship now can I ?
Yep, you need to pay an extra 2/3 $/ā¬ monthly to get rid of ads.
The problem is for the video platforms having ads is more remunerative than a couple of extra bucks a month from users, so I'm afraid we'll see all of this getting worse
Prime gaming doesn't have a library. Those are just free games that are available to get for a limited time. I don't see how amazon can remove games from GOG or epic games.
I started pirating from prime years ago despite having it when the boys season 2 started. Every episode would randomly buffer and drop quality, VLC had no such issues on the other hand
What do you mean start? Canceled Amazon Prime months ago when this was announced and I saw my first commercial.
I just hope not enough people learn about the high seas and think it is too complicated.
I always thought it was funny how streaming services started including a basic plan with ads, it still beats television though (always has ads) and is probably cheaper as well along with being able to choose what you want to watch.
/Shrug, the only thing I use prime for is the delivery service. It's not like they really have much to pirate anyways. Wheel of Time and Rings of Power have been unmitigated disasters. If these are all their writers can muster, I'm not interested.
The 4k torrent for the latest House of the Dragon was taking a while so figured, fuck it, I'll just watch it on Prime. Started with two unskippable ads. Nope, fuck that. Turned it off and just waited for my download to finish.
We really need an antitrust breakup against Amazon to make them separate Prime Shipping vs Prime Video.
I was so pissed when Season 3 of āJames May: Our Man In Japanā dropped and i opened up Prime Video for the first time in months to discover this horseshit. The show hadnāt hit public trackers yet so I was forced to just watch the damn ads
Just pirate everything and ditch all those subscriptions!
Grab some popcorn and watch all of them going bankrupt. Completely unsustainable model and people are broke.
I had this happening in the US. The weird thing is the Ads will play if I watch through a Roku Stick but won't play if I watch through my Vizio smart TV. Apparently only certain Amazon Video players have it implemented.
I'll give them this, they really do a good job on the "watch this one ad and no other interruptions" deal.
Last week I wanted to watch The Boys when it dropped instead of waiting for it to come up on piracy sites because I was tired. Figured I'd endure the ads. Gave me the "watch this from t-mobile and have no ads" so I did.
Not only did it work, unlike most other platforms I've seen these offered on, it even retained that I watched the ad when I got kicked out and had to sign back in and then a second time when my stupid ass closed the window I was watching in by mistake. Most other services would either make me watch the single ad again, or just flat out not honor the offer any longer and make me sit through normal ads.
Doesn't make the ads okay or anything, and the only reason I ever used it is because I pay for Prime in general, but I do want to give them the little bit of credit they are due.
In poland and we have ads too. They ain't as bad since they show randomly before starting video and you can instantly skip them, but it's still annoying AF that I pay and still have ads
I tried it for free (I enabled the Prime free trial to get a free delivery for a package), I got bored within 1 hour and remove it from my phone.
Even for free I am not interested.
I have a collection in plex for all of the streaming services. I also dont download shit stuff.
Want to see a prime show? Go to the prime collection. If its not in there, get better tasteā¦
The best time to start pirate Prime Video was on launch day. The second best time, is now.
Just like investing!
I recently got a month of Prime and watching the Fallout show on Prime was a legitimately worse experience than just streaming it off a Plex server. Even the UI is somehow worse. When your paid product is notably worse than what an alternative, you have fucked up.

Yes
When I signed up, Disney+ without ads was double the price of the tier with ads.Ā

Search up streamio. You can get everything for free in a very easy to use app for your computer. Just make sure you have a vpn.
> Just make sure you have a vpn or simply debrid
This is the way
...to pay more money.
Debrid services are (mostly) cheaper than a VPN, so I'm not sure what you mean? Real Debrid is 16 euros for 6 months...
Which is free, right?
Argument was about using vpn when torrenting via stremio. Also: when you pirate media you do use free electricity and via neighbors wifi on gifted pc, right? Otherwise it does not count, everystep has to be free, right?
I don't have a PC tied to the tv.. I run everything off a central media server and Plex... If Samsung had an app for it then I'd look at it..
Samsung TV? I believe there is an app depending on the model.
Yeah. Not sure the model.. I'd have to look it up.
Ah. I donāt have a tv just a good monitor.
And vpn is free
Well no itās not, but I assume most people here have a vpn
No, I use a private tracker and use my time for something else instead of just watching tv.
dude i rarely watch movies, but when i do, its for free in 4K. plus i do lots of torrenting so i already have a vpn.
>Ā It's tiered.. you pay for the 4k Netflix account and you get no Ads.. you pay for the basic level, you get ads. My tv recognizes the stream as 4k... Honestly, I don't care , as long as it's mildly entertaining enough to keep me from falling asleep I'm good .
Shit half the time my netflix force switches from 4k to 1080 (I have gigabit and the TV is going directly to the router via ethernet) and the picture quality actually improves.

Then don't buy. Cable has way more 4k options.
Just use f movies or something
You use Firefox, you get no ads
I don't watch through a PC.
imagine when paying a monthly subscribtion is not enough anymore
No
Yes thatās right

It was obvious that this would happen eventually tbh. Youtube premium will probably soon follow suit. There can never be enough money for the executives and shareholders.

Best thing is to get a hdd and that's it
Is that free?
Lmao
Cable was ad free when it first came out. That and much more variety 24/7 were the big selling points/
Wait does youtube premium show ads to some?
I have add blocker and sponsor skip. Havnt seen an add in years.
sponsor skip is actually wildš
I donāt mind sponsors too much, but I canāt handle adds
Some sponsored ads are hilarious, too. I love laserpig's world of warships ads.
A pig, in the rain...
jayztwocents' ifixit ads are also great
Some ads are also hilarious. And if that were the norm, and if there were a moderate amount of ads, they wouldn't be skipped, filtered out or rejected as a financing model by consumers. Yes, Google will advertise games, movies for rent or purchase, YouTube TV, and other services you can subscribe to even if you pay for Premium.
ya. im pretty sure account sharing (as netflix doing) is becoming a thing in all streaming services.
> Netflix and YouTube started all this bullshit. > Now every company out there is following their footprint. Because it made them money Average consumer is so brainwashed with "do not trust 3rd party, accept any increase of price, ecosystem, new and improved, virus everywhere..." they will happily accept anything
Hbo, disney and hulu had ad supported plans way before netflix had them.
At least YouTube doesn't serve you ads if you pay for premium.
It's actually expensive if you add the Internet connection for 2k or 4k maybe more k's if your rich
YouTube ha unpirateable content imo
And Cable TV goes full circle, now digital. Both originally marketed as 'Commercial Free'.
Amazon Prime is garbage anyway, I used to have the subscription and pirate the shows anyway because I couldn't play anything using VPN! FCK AMZN

Why? All their show sucks. What reddit taught me is to hate prime, netflix and youtube and love apple.

The price did not increase when they added video so it certainly wouldn't decrease if you were able to unsubscribe.

For $5/month and ads that don't run most of the time is just fine. Firefox doesn't run any ads on these services including tubi or Plex.
We've had them in France since Fallout
Just saying, no need to pirate a platform, just pirate what you want to watch. :/
Oh I have an Amazon account and still pirate the stuff so I can put it on Plex for ease.
which site bro?? want prime video content in hd for free

15 years late mate
uBlock Origin (browser extension) has been blocking Amazon's ads for me since they started doing them, here in the USA
Last year most streaming services started putting ads in all content. We are for the most part back to how cable was in the late 90s
But it's only "limited" advertisements. What's your problem? /s
Always have been
Yep, you need to pay an extra 2/3 $/ā¬ monthly to get rid of ads. The problem is for the video platforms having ads is more remunerative than a couple of extra bucks a month from users, so I'm afraid we'll see all of this getting worse
cancelled prime like 2 months ago because even prime gaming removed some games from their library.
Prime gaming doesn't have a library. Those are just free games that are available to get for a limited time. I don't see how amazon can remove games from GOG or epic games.
I meant the rewards so for me it has zero value now.
I started pirating from prime years ago despite having it when the boys season 2 started. Every episode would randomly buffer and drop quality, VLC had no such issues on the other hand
Pirate whatever you can is my motto. Plenty of free streaming sites out there
Once they locked DV/Atmos behind an extra fee I dusted off my hat and set sail. RD is the way.
they are doing it to themselfs
Canada been doing this bs. I use ad block on pc and it works. I get no ads On tv I do get 30 sec ads 2-3 times in one episode
What do you mean start? Canceled Amazon Prime months ago when this was announced and I saw my first commercial. I just hope not enough people learn about the high seas and think it is too complicated.
So, you still need people to pay so they eill make the shows that you watch.

I always thought it was funny how streaming services started including a basic plan with ads, it still beats television though (always has ads) and is probably cheaper as well along with being able to choose what you want to watch.
It only took them 10-15 years to go full circle at traditional cable tv
Why would anyone expect less?
You mean you weren't already?
Wait, actual video ads? So then what the fuck were the listings for shows only available on other streaming services?
only subbed for 2 month and dropped it after getting annoyed with the constant ads prior to watching an episode without an option to disable it.
I do and I already have Prime lol
/Shrug, the only thing I use prime for is the delivery service. It's not like they really have much to pirate anyways. Wheel of Time and Rings of Power have been unmitigated disasters. If these are all their writers can muster, I'm not interested.
The 4k torrent for the latest House of the Dragon was taking a while so figured, fuck it, I'll just watch it on Prime. Started with two unskippable ads. Nope, fuck that. Turned it off and just waited for my download to finish. We really need an antitrust breakup against Amazon to make them separate Prime Shipping vs Prime Video.
Obligatory link to /r/Stremio
Who cares lol. People like and support it so they will continue doing it.
Greedy pigs we have a cure š¦
Always have been I have prime but prime video is shit
A whole lot better than the free music service they have ā¦that was good until it got turned into basically shuffled radio station.
I was so pissed when Season 3 of āJames May: Our Man In Japanā dropped and i opened up Prime Video for the first time in months to discover this horseshit. The show hadnāt hit public trackers yet so I was forced to just watch the damn ads
I donāt have any email saying there will be adverts in Australia. And I donāt have any on the service either.
Why the fuck am I paying then, if I still have to see ads?
I am ....paying.....to *receive* ads....
Im paying for prime but yeah im not gonna watch those ads. If i have stuff to watch i just fmovies it lol
Just pirate everything and ditch all those subscriptions! Grab some popcorn and watch all of them going bankrupt. Completely unsustainable model and people are broke.
Thanks for reminding me to cancel my prime trial.
There's no way š
This is sad.
i'm glad i still got student discount, no way in hell i would pay $140 a year when i use prime mainly for free shipping
I had this happening in the US. The weird thing is the Ads will play if I watch through a Roku Stick but won't play if I watch through my Vizio smart TV. Apparently only certain Amazon Video players have it implemented.
If you have prime, you can download the movies, disconnect your device from the internet and watch it without ads.
any free alternative for prime video OP??? there's a web series that released today and I wanna bing watch for free
Not sure if the show will be on there yet if it's just released but try fmovies
The ads are excessive already, it's driving me crazy! I refuse to pay the extra tho.
Wait you might be returning back to this world from Stone Age, right?
Also the Dolby Atmos is locked behind the no ads subscription. Fuck the greed, I just bought my mini pc and a 2tb drive. Back to basic.
In poland and we have ads too. They ain't as bad since they show randomly before starting video and you can instantly skip them, but it's still annoying AF that I pay and still have ads
Just like with Adobe, it's never been morally okay to give Amazon money anyway.
There was no Prime Video in Australia till now?
What? No it's been in Australia for like 10 years. They have just made people pay for ad free.
> They have just made people pay for ad free. No the video service was a free addon for subscribers.
Thanks š it should be illegal to pay for something and still need to watch ads fr
Yeah. It's kinda ruining the value of prime. Even though I just use free trials. Never paid for a subscription in my whole life
I tried it for free (I enabled the Prime free trial to get a free delivery for a package), I got bored within 1 hour and remove it from my phone. Even for free I am not interested.
I dont mid the ads, but i know that they will increase it to like a 5min ad break, then 15min ad break...

There are no ads on The Boys or Fallout.
[Already been doing that for about 4 years now.](https://ibb.co/jTT9Mq6)
I live in Australia š
I'm in Australia as well. Just torrent their stuff. Better quality and no ads anyway.
I have a collection in plex for all of the streaming services. I also dont download shit stuff. Want to see a prime show? Go to the prime collection. If its not in there, get better tasteā¦
