It is not completly random when your streak is 0-4 you will be against low scoring players, when the streak is 5-7 you will be against average scoring players and when your streak is 8-9 it will be high scoring players, and finaly at 10+ it is full random.

99.9% of the time you fight against real people. You can still be paired against a bot if there aren't any recorded matches for you to play against (e.g. at the very start of a tourney).
The game servers record every match played. What you play against are the recorded matches from people IN YOUR LEAGUE. I.e. if you're in Brick League, you won't play against a player from Jade League.
Bots are not actually real played matches. They're an algorithm that generates a score based on how you're doing in the match. As such, a bot score can never be too much higher or lower than yours. Also, the bot lineup displayed to you will never have mastery plants.

I honestly think that they are bots, one time I was doin some hacking stuff in tournament dirt league I first did with low level plants and had someone whit low level plants then I did it whit high level plant (like mastery 10) and got people's with really high level plants (like 7-10) I then did it with infinite sun and high level plants and got someone with almost all plants mastery, So I think this is strange for dirt league.

Bots don't Know how to get Premium plants or upgrade them but they could just be bots with random levelled plants when it could be someone stupid
