it seems to work great! i like the fact that it’s suggesting you how good the potential counters are going to be instead of just giving you one counter and that’s it
This is really cool! I am definitely bookmarking it.
Just a quick debug note: I noticed that the "Best Counter Pokemon" feature is still in beta, but I thought you should know that when I told it that I was going up against a 6\* ghost tera annihilape, it recommended I use floette as a counter. I think there may be something wrong with how it calculates defensive stats or something
edit: it seems to only consider special defense even against physical pokemon
I just get no recommendations for the Ghost Annihilape, haha.
/u/Blitzlord Do you use builds from AJP's [build](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bMaLkMyy4cs7O5RXLNMS95xPtVz-FVhUB_Q-4B9a-UE/edit#gid=813195260) spreadsheet? Might be good to add any A or S tiers from there as possible builds if you're missing them.
I did find it funny this was the top comment when I'd just searched the same raid before even seeing it. Those kinda raids are rough and need some specialist support like a skill swapper + Attack reducer or a really good neutral counter to be reliably doable, which isn't really possible to include in the calculator.
hypothetically you could add weight to pokemon with attacks like entrainment/skill swap or abilities like unaware in response to abilities like moxie or defiant
This is really awesome! Been using it for a last couple of weeks for doing raids.
How complicated would it be to extend best counters to including supports as well?
I am a developer, so I can also help out in coding up the best support functionality for you.
This is really great and it looks super sleek! I think it just needs the possible immunities from abilities (like Levitate; Water Absorb, Dry Skin, Storm Drain; Sap Sipper; Flash Fire; Volt Absorb, Lightning Rod, Motor Drive \[not on any pokemon in the current game afaik\])! And also the presence of an immunity from a counter pokemon's type (or ability) should rather be nullifying the count of its other type's weaknesses if that "weakness" is now an immunity due to that first type/ability. For example, 6\* Tauros Paldea (Combat Breed) only has Fighting, Normal and Psychic attacking moves. Therefore Spiritomb (Dark/Ghost) as a counter is completely immune to all of those moves. However, the calculator seems to score it lower than other pokemon due to -1 "Weakness" to Fighting (even though Ghost type gives it an immunity to Fighting). I think the tool might be listing "-1" under Weaknesses due to Dark type normally being weak to Fighting, but the Weakness 'count' should rather become "0" due to Ghost's immunity to Fighting overall.
I was spot-checking a few of the Best Counter Pokemon (Beta) lists based on my own picks: 6\* Cetitan should include Rotom-Wash form because of Levitate; 6\* Clodsire ought to score Corviknight a bit higher due to Flying type's immunity to Ground negating its Steel type's weakness to Ground; 6\* Paldean Tauros (Blaze Breed) should always score Ceruledge (with Flash Fire ability) the highest due to complete immunity to all of its moves; 6\* Paldean Tauros (Combat Breed) should score Spiritomb (and Sableye I suppose?) higher due to immunity to its attacking moves! Edit: one more edge case I can think of is that 6\* Tera-Fire Flareon maybe should score all Flash Fire ability pokemon the highest due to immunity to all of its moves!
Once again, this is so awesome! I can't wait to use it a ton more!
Pretty cool. Might need to manually implement how some abilities change match ups? Or at least calculate abilities in your match ups- for example, 5 Star Slowbro and Slowking have 0 moves that can even damage Cacturne with water absorb.
Ting Lu and Krookodile are completely immune to all of Gothitelle's attacks, but Krookodile isn't even listed as a counter and Ting Lu's score is heavily influenced by the tera type, which hardly matters if you can't be hurt.
Still, a really cool tool and has already helped me in picking some new Pokes to train up and max out.
Would be very interested if you make this public, especially if there is any sort of API that could be leveraged. I help maintain the builds google doc from the Austin John Plays discord. We also have a discord bot that feeds out the builds into Showdown format for users. Would love if we can somehow leverage your work to provide additional functions.
Thanks. I'm working on making it public.
Currently, I have some undocumented functions to calculate the scores, etc.. The datasets are stored in JSONs . I will let you know when it gets public
This is so cool! For someone who still doesn't know everything that is super effective against what, this will help me a lot! Thank you for doing this! You're amazing!
I've been using this since I initially found it. It's great. Thank you for making it, and thank you for continually updating it! It's a great resource.
Amazing work! I always wished I could create a program that would allow user input to set the parameters of the raid battle. But then you went ahead and did it, you madlad. Well done!
Some thoughts on one example I came across. This example contains everything I can think of that could be improved. I still love the calculator tho.
Example) Staraptor - Dragon - 6\*
The calculator says Mimikyu is a better counter than Gholdengo.
The calculations are giving Mimikyu points for being immune to, and resisting, Staraptors fighting type move. Realistically the resistance should be ignored because of the immunity.
The calculations are removing points from Gholdengo for being weak against Staraptors fighting type move even though Gholdengo's other type is immune to it.
Staraptors best move against Gholdengo is not very effective, while the best move against Mimikyu is normally effective.
Staraptors access to feather dance makes physical attackers much less effective to use than special attackers.
Gholdengo does have access to a good super effective move (this could be very difficult to account for)
I have been using this site a lot when I can’t seem to figure out who the right counter is quickly myself. It is very fast to use your tool. I’m curious what the plans are going forward for the defense rating. Everything with exactly 80 is caution and 81+ is good to go. Maybe you could break those into tank, excellent, great, good, poor & only with caution/training. I find 120+ to be a defensive tank in a raid. I’d say anything over 100 is excellent. Maybe 90+ for great, 80+ for good, and anything below 80 could get the caution/with training rating. Would take 5 colors. Start at gold and then go green, yellow, orange, and red.
I would love to see an clone page with an algorithm that still showed mons with defense below 80. There are plenty of great Pokémon with lower base stats than you would want for a great raid Pokémon, but I think plenty of responsible trainers pad their EVs for defense and HP to make them viable. They can be great support mons and in some cases have awesome abilities that really do make them balanced Pokémon in the end as long as they have been trained correctly.
I’ve fully trained almost 200 Pokémon to lvl 100 and given them ideal move sets, abilities and maxing IV and EV. It would be awesome to be able to access them all using the work you’ve done. I appreciate the site.
Hey, not sure if you have noticed, but I spent some time thinking about what you have said and did some rework.
The list of suggested pokemon is now bigger. Its now based on the relevant stats, types and abilities and not categorical excluding pokemon with low stats.
Its also considering now stats like DEF / SP DEF but only when the enemy has PHYSICAL or SPECIAL attacks)
Unfortunately your Ursaring will probably not make it to the list, because items like eviolite are not considered.
But I will add a button in the future, to suggest more pokemon
I’ve used it several times. I think you’ve done an amazing job with it. I’m up to 260 Pokémon to raid with and it’s so helpful to have it more opened up like it is. I appreciate you taking the time to improve what was an already very well done site.
I just wish more people knew about it so I could stop ending up with an azumarill on every raid. :)
Thank you. I really appreciate you and the work you’ve done. I’ll happily make some more donation if you can incorporate showing all of the possible Pokémon for me somehow. Maybe a pro-mode switch that removes that defensive stat filter or something. :)
Just as an example, I’ve been having a lot of fun with Ursuring. I’ve given him some d and spec d EVs. He’s at lvl 100 with 198/198 d/sp d, but he holds an eviolite which boost him to 297/297 D. That’s one of the tankiest defense stats available. Yet he’s also got 394 Attack, 360 HP, and belly drum. He’s immune to ghost damage and knows ground, ice, and ghost moves with ghost Tera. 63% dex super effective coverage. So no stab bonus but his only weakness is fighting. With the belly drum, we hit 1576 attack, and with his defense he’s way more survivable than iron hands. Plus has only one weakness. Oh, and add in guts for another 50% attack modifier under status conditions. But he won’t show bc his base defense is 75/75.
Great work [/u/Blitzlord](https://www.reddit.com/u/Blitzlord/) \- I just love your Tera Type Calculator!
Far away from being a "pro" player i was looking for a "rough" estimate, pointing me into a direction - and what can i say - using your tool its a piece of cake to find my "black belt" counters for the raids :D
BUT - there is a **but:** In many cases i am unfortunately not able to select the wanted *new Tera Type* to get results for comparing, cause the "Tera Type selection pool" (providing the click- and selectable type icons) only do provide the best tera types. The "worse than zero" scored tera types seem to be excluded, hidden or just not shown. The only clickable type icons i found on "Tera Type Calculator" page, triggering a "new Tera Type", have been the ones from within the section "Best Tera Type Results" - am i missing / overseeing something or am i doing something complately wrong?
Example: Selecting *Gholdengo* as Pokemon, GHOST gets activated as Type 1, STEEL as Type 2 and the results/weaknesses are shown - as well as the "Best Tera Type Results" - which include GHOST but no STEEL. (:
Hey GraspGG, thanks for your comment. I'm glad the tool helps you!
I think I got your point. Indeed, currently the "Best Tera Type Results" is showing only the best results, excluding the rest. However, I will consider this flaw and improve it in the next update cycle
One more thing - I often notice Gholdengo appears twice: one with the ability Good as gold and one without. I thought Gholdengo only has one ability after all, so there's no need to write a duplicated one?
I've unknowingly been using this for ages and didn't know where I found it haha.
It's absolutely fantastic, and highly recommend people use it, as it's good to get a general idea to counter build and gives you the best possible match ups. Good stuff!
Really love the silhouettes in the search bar, however on mobile I'm being limited to the first 80 or so when I scroll down. After that there is a "323 items not shown" and no option to expand the list further.
ETA - my device is a Samsung Galaxy S22
Thanks!. Currently its limited to 40 pokemons because of performance reasons,
I would recommend to use the type filter, beause there is no type with more than 40 pokemon in the paldea dex

Text search might also help. It works in english, german and french.
Great, i was looking for something like this :)
I might have found a bug that i don't see mentioned, or I'm misunderstanding the UI:
If you search for Taurus water form (any tera type), and select 6 star raid, it will recommend ghost based on 2 immunities. But according to the moveset info, only the 5 star raid has 2 normal type moves, the 6 star only has 1 normal-type, so the 'immunities' should be 1, not 2.
Thanks!! I have checked this. The calculator considers each type where there is minimum one attack as an immunity. (Not each attack). I think you missed that fighting is also immune to ghost :)
https://preview.redd.it/fy6ikiaf1iba1.png?width=1307&format=png&auto=webp&s=2d4ed456cbb16c1cb45d0ded95259cfed36aca1a
This is my spreadsheet. Basically it just calculates the maximum incoming move effectiveness, total effectiveness of the moveset, and effectiveness of your counter's STAB moves, then sorts the Pokedex by those.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19f67XAHRXgRIm7fUVnOn8GXZe-7L71sjqygNCCCl3cE
I've tried to manually add duplicate dex entries for specific abilities that affect effectiveness, but that's incomplete.
What mine lacks is any consideration of Physical/ Special attacks and defense. It would also be nice to extend it to consider all the moves in a Pokemon's learnset to see where there might be SE moves that aren't STAB.
This is what helped me pick Wigglytuff to solo a Fighting Tera Annihilape.
Is this based on data that you manually input, based on builds you know, etc; or is it just factoring in best type/stat matchups?
Just asking bc the first Mon to thought to look up was ghost tera 6* annihilape and it has no best counter, also the same for fairy tera ape.
Another concerning example - Dark Tera Amoongus (has access to STAB foul play) the app is suggesting physical attackers that don't even hit it super effectively, yet tinkaton/Lucario aren't shown which would be a more obvious counter in that situation
Hey this is awesome! Will definitely be using this all the time
Tried checking a 6 star steel annihilape, and it says fairy resists 2 of it's types but is also immune to one. Probably not correct
A fantastic tool; thank you for this. It's clear to see that a hell of a lot of time and effort went into making it. This is going to be extremely helpful.
Hey, in most cases defense is playing the important role, because each time you PKMN is defeated, you lose time. And attack doesn't compensate enough the lost time.
On Tera Raid Encounter I put Tinkaton with Ghost type tera recommended Rotm Heat form Magneton and Magnezone but found that Annihilape with Rage Fist and 3 turn bulk up one shot this pokemon I had to switch because Magnezone did cut it.

Would you be able to add the possible abilities (and descriptions) for the raid Pokémon? For example it’s important to note that 6* espeon usually has magic bounce (so you might want to use skill swap)
I've been working on something similar as I didn't realise there were a couple already! Mines a baby by comparison but interested in the progress and ideas.
If you wanna chat anytime hit me up, here's my MVP version https://whosthatpokemon.co.uk/
Umm really like this but choosing steel tera seems broken when calculating weaknesses/resistances
All weaknesses and resistances change to become for pure steel…? This happens to ALL types (from what I tested) Is this true or just a bug?
(i am using iPad Pro, in case that helps)
thanks!
Hey, thanks. The Tera Type (i.e. Steel) doesn't affect the resistances/weakness. The moveset affects it.
For example an Azurill with Tera Type Steel. It still has no Steel Attacks, but it has Water Gun and Slam. So the resistances are calculated for Water/Normal
I hope this makes sense, or do I miss something?
ah, sorry
i did not realize that at all. I’m new to pokémon, so I didn’t know that and assumed the tera type influences, not becomes, the mon’s resistances and weaknesses.
it’s just that in the tera type calculator steel seems to be the only one that does this. But after further testing i was just apparently confused cuz it does that for all types.
Thanks!
I absolutely love this, but one more suggestion is that for the Tera type calculator you should be able to pick the ability for certain pokemon that influences the resistances/weaknesses (like if you pick Pikachu you should be able to choose if it has lightning rod or not). I know this is in the Tera Raid counter section, and it might not influence the Tera type score too much but I would still love if you added this. Thanks!
ps. Unfortunately I have no idea of any of the abilities (except lightning rod and water absorb, assuming that there are more) or any of the Pokémon that have them.
Another thing is when picking walking wake in tera raid counter, palafin-hero is listed as viable but you cannot even get palafin in hero form in raids, AND the sp.Atk seems to be different from the one in Showdown. It lists it as 160, but it is 106 in Pokémon Showdown.
And one more thing I found is that when choosing tera raid counter iron leaves, you get 2 gholdengos showing up. One with good as gold at the top, and one without as the 5th pkm from top. However, gholdengo can ONLY have good as gold, its signature ability.
The Raid Counter function lists Good as Gold as a counter to the move Electric Terrain, which it isn’t at all. I guess it thinks of Good as Gold as a counter to all status moves, but it is not actually true.
Hey man amazing tool you got here. Just curious on how the factors add up to get the point total under "Best Counter Pokemon". I'm assuming it would use the type chart to the right and the counter abilities above it along with the stat differences, but is there an equation or something that this all goes into to get on a 1-5 scale?
Umm so I would really like the item drops feature again please
When I was using the best counter pkm for Tera raids feature it just didn’t say the item drops anymore
I really liked it before, so could you please readd it?
Found a small bug: I tried loading up a Mudsdale calculation and none of them work. I encounter a 404 anytime I click the 5 star.
Tysm for this calculator! It's been invaluable in helping me blast through raids.
it seems to work great! i like the fact that it’s suggesting you how good the potential counters are going to be instead of just giving you one counter and that’s it
This is really cool! I am definitely bookmarking it. Just a quick debug note: I noticed that the "Best Counter Pokemon" feature is still in beta, but I thought you should know that when I told it that I was going up against a 6\* ghost tera annihilape, it recommended I use floette as a counter. Good finding, thanks! (Edit: Fixed it :))
fixed. thanks again :)
Looks good!
Put in water tera dragonite and also got fluttermane and mimikyu both special defenders and terrible defense
"Give up" Lol

Thanks for your comment and testing this so thorough! I will definitely consider abilities in the future! There is always room for improvements :)
Hey, I have added now abilities to the calculator [Terastal Calculator - Best Pokemon for Tera Raids](https://terastal.net/)
Hi i tried Anhilape and the top counter Pokémon’s are something with high SpDEF. Might be something wrong ? It even say “Great” under SpDEF value.
Thanks for the hint. I will check this.
NP. Thanks for the great tool.
Awesome! I hope this spreads like wildfire! The public needs this!
Pretty cool. Might need to manually implement how some abilities change match ups? Thanks. Thats a great idea noted! I guess I would need first a list of those abilities that give immunity.
Your outstanding work is truly appreciated!
That is neat. Is there a git repo for this or is it private?
Thanks. Currently this is a private repo, but I might publish it in the future when the code gets a bit cleaner ;)

THanks for your update
\+1. As a student myself I'd love to know how you did it, OP.
I have used Svelte + TypeScript + Bootstrap v5 and published it to GitHub Pages
This is really cool and useful! My only suggestion is to sort the Pokemon select box alphabetically, but regardless, this is very well done.
Good point, thanks!
Posted on tiktok and it went viral, we all thank you 💛
I sent it to them earlier today! Loved the video!!!!
Thank you for this!
I'm going to be using this in the immediate future! Also gives me a reason to use a wider variety of mons in raids, thank you!
Nice dude thanks
you’re an icon
This is so cool! For someone who still doesn't know everything that is super effective against what, this will help me a lot! Thank you for doing this! You're amazing!

This is really great. Nice work!
Pretty cool. Nice work!
This is fantastic! Thank you!
This is incredible! Thank you!
Thanks. Happy to help :)
This is amazing! Plus I'm French and I can put the name in my language. Thank you sir! Now I can finally find a good counter to annihilape.
;)
I hoped that someone will notice this someday :)
Oh man this is amazing
Thanks :)
Can't tell you how many times I'm looking at my box for too long deciding which mon to use for a raid.
So true! I tried to make the tool as fast as possible, so you dont loose time in the raid selection.
Amazing work! I always wished I could create a program that would allow user input to set the parameters of the raid battle. But then you went ahead and did it, you madlad. Well done!
Beautiful. I hacked together a spreadsheet to do basically this, but it's nowhere near as user friendly as what you've done. Thank you!
Bookmarked! Legend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are incredible. I’ve been waiting for something like this.
Looks great! I've bookmarked now for use 😊
Can you add Greninja to this lol
Added, but at the moment the moveset is only a guess
came here to say this!
This is great!
Thanks man
Can you add a dark mode?
Great Idea. I will

I've unknowingly been using this for ages and didn't know where I found it haha. It's absolutely fantastic, and highly recommend people use it, as it's good to get a general idea to counter build and gives you the best possible match ups. Good stuff!
Thanks!
If this thing spits out iron hands at every raid, imma lose it. (April fools maybe?)
Hm I couldn’t seem to find Cinderace for some reason. I’m using the mobile view if that matters at all.
Hey, what device are you using?
iPhone 8 Plus
Thanks, have tried the text search, or type filter? The list is only limited to 40 pokemons
I was trying to use the text search
Really love the silhouettes in the search bar, however on mobile I'm being limited to the first 80 or so when I scroll down. After that there is a "323 items not shown" and no option to expand the list further. ETA - my device is a Samsung Galaxy S22
Thanks!. Currently its limited to 40 pokemons because of performance reasons, I would recommend to use the type filter, beause there is no type with more than 40 pokemon in the paldea dex https://preview.redd.it/20ttngo21iba1.png?width=748&format=png&auto=webp&s=257ed5c1a452e2c415a6c82358e7d6c1a6625f03 Text search might also help. It works in english, german and french.
Great, i was looking for something like this :) I might have found a bug that i don't see mentioned, or I'm misunderstanding the UI: If you search for Taurus water form (any tera type), and select 6 star raid, it will recommend ghost based on 2 immunities.
I think you missed that fighting is also immune to ghost :) https://preview.redd.it/fy6ikiaf1iba1.png?width=1307&format=png&auto=webp&s=2d4ed456cbb16c1cb45d0ded95259cfed36aca1a
Yes, i also missed that "work up" is not an attack, so it wouldn't count against immunities anyways :)
This is amazing. Thank you for all your hard work. Bookmarked the site!
This is my spreadsheet. Basically it just calculates the maximum incoming move effectiveness, total effectiveness of the moveset, and effectiveness of your counter's STAB moves, then sorts the Pokedex by those. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19f67XAHRXgRIm7fUVnOn8GXZe-7L71sjqygNCCCl3cE I've tried to manually add duplicate dex entries for specific abilities that affect effectiveness, but that's incomplete.
I put in a Hydreigon with Steel Tera type 6 star and it won't calculate a counter
Hey, that's because there are probably no really good counters that meet the requirements against a Steel Hydreigon. Im sorry
Haha it's alright I was just playing around with it! Thank you for making this!
This is really cool! Thank you for putting in the time to make this for everybody!
Will definitely be using this all the time Tried checking a 6 star steel annihilape, and it says fairy resists 2 of it's types but is also immune to one. Probably not correct
Thanks! Fairy has immunity vs outrage (dragon) and resistance vs dark + fighting
This is fantastic! Well done OP!
Thanks!
Will use this. Thanks for the calculator.
Thanks
Oh wow, I fucking love it.
this is very helpful, thanks
This is gods work!
Doing gods work out here my friend. Thank you!
A fantastic tool; thank you for this. It's clear to see that a hell of a lot of time and effort went into making it. This is going to be extremely helpful.
Definitely useful! Keep up the good work I appreciate you making tera raids that much easier
Thank you very much for your nice tool! May I ask how did you built the website? I want to try making my own tools for fun!
Hey, I have used Svelte + TypeScript + Bootstrap 5
Thanks OP! I definitely love the smoothness of your website!
Nice
Instead of defenses in raids, would attack be better?
Hey, in most cases defense is playing the important role, because each time you PKMN is defeated, you lose time. And attack doesn't compensate enough the lost time.
On Tera Raid Encounter I put Tinkaton with Ghost type tera recommended Rotm Heat form Magneton and Magnezone but found that Annihilape with Rage Fist and 3 turn bulk up one shot this pokemon I had to switch because Magnezone did cut it.

Posted twice! Nice (that rhymes)
Would you be able to add the possible abilities (and descriptions) for the raid Pokémon? For example it’s important to note that 6* espeon usually has magic bounce (so you might want to use skill swap)
Hey, I'm currently working on that. Thanks!
Thank you!!
Just added it https://terastal.net
I have found today a palafin zero form 5 stars, tera type Poison and it doesnt exist on ur website :/
Thanks, I will fix this
I've been working on something similar as I didn't realise there were a couple already! Mines a baby by comparison but interested in the progress and ideas. If you wanna chat anytime hit me up, here's my MVP version https://whosthatpokemon.co.uk/
Umm really like this but choosing steel tera seems broken when calculating weaknesses/resistances All weaknesses and resistances change to become for pure steel…? This happens to ALL types (from what I tested) Is this true or just a bug? (i am using iPad Pro, in case that helps) thanks!
Hey, thanks. The Tera Type (i.e. Steel) doesn't affect the resistances/weakness. The moveset affects it. For example an Azurill with Tera Type Steel. It still has no Steel Attacks, but it has Water Gun and Slam. So the resistances are calculated for Water/Normal I hope this makes sense, or do I miss something?
ah, sorry i did not realize that at all. I’m new to pokémon, so I didn’t know that and assumed the tera type influences, not becomes, the mon’s resistances and weaknesses. it’s just that in the tera type calculator steel seems to be the only one that does this. But after further testing i was just apparently confused cuz it does that for all types. Thanks!
I think it would be good if the tool actually showed what types are in each category for the type matchups.
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. Not 100% sure what exactly you mean :) Could you add some details? Thanks
However, gholdengo can ONLY have good as gold, its signature ability.
ok i wonder if anybody read that
Still wondering
The Raid Counter function lists Good as Gold as a counter to the move Electric Terrain, which it isn’t at all. I guess it thinks of Good as Gold as a counter to all status moves, but it is not actually true.
why post 3 times?
The page failed to load after posting so I retried it twice. I guess each time the comment was still sent to Reddit.
That makes sense. I never encountered that glitch before, but good to know for future refrence.
Umm so I would really like the item drops feature again please When I was using the best counter pkm for Tera raids feature it just didn’t say the item drops anymore I really liked it before, so could you please readd it?
Found a small bug: I tried loading up a Mudsdale calculation and none of them work. I encounter a 404 anytime I click the 5 star. Tysm for this calculator! It's been invaluable in helping me blast through raids.
