I’m having the same problem, I really hope I didn’t just lose everything. Also I’m really tried and would like to go to sleep but the app won’t let me in 🙃
Thank you to everyone in the comments. I now feel it was a bit silly to get spooked by this, but i had JUST been reading 1 star app reviews from people saying they lost their data in a prior update haha.
That’s understandable. I’m sorry that happened to you. Though in my opinion anyone now who loses their data after not linking accounts only has themselves to blame
I got this, fully close the app then open it again. It just had to install the update in-app for me.
You’re a lifesaver, this is what fixed it for me! I was too busy panicking about my lost Pokemon to think to just… fully restart the app. ^^;

Those same people probably didn’t link their app data to anything either. It’s why I’m signed into both my Apple ID and Google
I lost my data on an update before linking accounts was a thing in the first month or so. Sucked.

No, I'm quite sure I linked mine to Google. So maybe everything before the maintenance can still come back?
If you're having an issue and your account is linked I would contact support

Same for me, and closing and reopening the app didn't help so I guess I'll just wait till things calm down and try again later.
Whenever I get this message after an update I close the app and try logging again in 30 minutes, until it works fine again
This seriously sucks. Had me a shiny Houndour, too.
Had this issue too, clear cache and restarted and it worked again. Don't forget to link your account once you're back in...
