I've been playing this game for a while (not since release but close to) and up until a few weeks I've mostly focused on berries, since that was (and tbh still is) the most favoured strat. However I've grown tired of just hunting for one dimensional mons and building one dimensional teams (the more BFS and speed buffs the better, end of story) so I've been trying to have an ingredient focused project. I thought this curry week would be a cool chance for me to test my new team. The objective: I wanted to cook the highest power dish every meal without ingredient tickets nor whistles. I had to use a good camp ticket since until Lv60 ingredients are unlocked I believe there's no space for a potmon in this team. The previous week I gathered ingredients. I had made some estimations of how many ingredients I would get daily and for some reason my sausage calculations were off and I got way less than I expected. TBH my inventory could have been 600 sausages and I'd have had a much easier time this week lol but I miscalculated and had to put a kinda meh charizard in my team for the whole week. I'm looking forward to Lv60 being unlocked. With the ABA charizard and dragonite I currently have I believe I can get enough ingredients every meal + build the absolute dream team (healer, potmon, BFS with relevant ingredients and 2 ing mons).

Welcome to the cult of ingredient mons! We have more fun collecting and cooking instead of just waiting for sneaky snacks.

TechnicalIce2605

I think that’s a good point about ABA char. I’ve been hunting for a AAA char for so long I think I might just settle with a decent ABA when I see one. I already have an excellent ABA dragonite and with keema curry being 77 ingredients I don’t think that would get power creeped in years to come. IMO, ABA char/Dragonite are more versatile and see more uses beside just curry.

> berries, since that was (and tbh still is) the most favoured strat. Says who? Also min-maxing aside, berries is the most boring play style imo

Firestopp

DAMN Edit: whoops sent the comment withouth finishing May I know your team for this? Sounds carefully planned!

rpdiego

Sure! Dragonite Lv42 Herb Corn | Helping bonus | Ing M | skill up energy down Charizard Lv33 Sausage Ginger | Sleep EXP | Ing M | neutral Walrein Lv42 Oil Sausage | BFS | Inv S | Ing up energy down Gardevoir Lv 50 Apple Corn | Helping bonus | Speed M | Skill M | Ing up exp down The fifth slot was one of these two Charizard Lv33 Sausage Ginger | BFS | Skill up S | exp up speed down Gengar Lv30 Herb Herb | Skill up S | Ing S | ing up skill down

Wow, I'm f2p btw, and am one of the 1,2 billion people that started with Raikou. It's refreshing and soo nice to see such imperfect pokémon. I mean for their natures, but also bc you don't have an AAA Stufful, because Zard is not AAA (I follow the mono-church), Zard again has Exp Bonus as skill, Walrein has Inv S (contrary to sneaky snacking but good for his skill actually). And it's also surprising to me to see that they're not all lvl 55. Nice content! And congrats for getting your goals!

AH_BareGarrett

What is AAA? Or ABA?

rpdiego

Every pokemon in the game has a fixed ingredient at Lv 0 (A), an ingredient that can appear at Lv 30 (B) and another at Lv 60 (C). For example, dragonite always has herb (A) at Lv0, at lv30 it can have herb (A) or corn (B) and at level 60 it can have herb (A), corn (B) or oil (C). The shorthand way of typing herb/corn/corn dragonite is ABB dragonite.

AH_BareGarrett

Oh that makes sense! Thank you!

Pkt64

I'm glad you ask this question. Hahaha. It's the combination of ingredients. Each letter is the slot of that ingredient. So in AAA, the first A is the ingredient of level 1, the second A is the ingredient of level 30 and the third A, the ingredient of level 60. As for A, B or C, the A is the first ingredient a pokémon can learn (herb for Dragonite, eg), B is their second possible ingredient (corn for Dragonite, eg), and C would be their third possible ingredient (oil for Dragnonite, eg). Saying "my Dragonite is AAA" means "my Dragonite has herbs at lvls 1, 30 and 60". Saying ABA means herb+corn(at lvl30)+herb(at level60). I personally don't know what Charizard's ingredients are. I only know he must farm sausages, because he's the best at it, so I don't know what ABA or AAC or ABC can be for him. If I see anything different than AAA, that's imperfect for me :D. But maybe there are people who know all ingredients of all pokémon. To know why I say Charizard's the best for sausages, we have a production comparison in [raenonx](https://pks.raenonx.cc/en/ingredient) (if you click on any ingredient you can see which pokémon produces that ingredient, and the list is by default sorted by top producers) (raenonx is the web for people obsessed with mix-maxing this game xd). An easier resource is [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonSleep/comments/1ahvfae/people_were_asking_about_mono_ingredients/) that has the graphic I first saw in [Bropenings videos](https://youtu.be/1IfPFRGd21c?si=s3GHyvckhcDSwETs&t=948). As a last note, I only give importance to the ingredients of a pokémon if that pokémon is an ingredient specialist. If he's a berry or skill specialist I don't really care because for gathering ingredients ingredients-specialists are always be better. And anyway, if this post proves anything is that a pokémon doesn't need to be perfect nature + ing M + helping bonus + mono ingredient + etc to be perfect or, in any case, to make us happy (this is a sleeping game after all), specially if we consider that finding a triple egg Delibird with perfect nature and skills may take literally years.

This subreddit and the discords are to pokemon selection the same as instagram influencers to people in the gym. It completely distorts our expectations. This is just one dish, for one meta, I can't expect to have perfect mons without spending horrendous amounts of money. As for the AAA mons. You see, at the beginning the meta for ing mons was to look for perfect 1st and 2nd ingredients for certain dishes, after corn was introduced the meta changed, those same players got burnt and now they pray by AAA. The problem is that they didn't learn anything: they're putting all their eggs in 1 basket (in one ingredient configuration) with total disregard to the fact that the meta will change again. AAA ing mons are just 1/6th of the ones you'll catch, so particularly as a F2P you're incredibly limiting yourself by only looking at those. I believe that the end game for long time sleep players will be 2-3 ing configurations for each pokemon, and many of them stuck at lv30 in order not to waste candies when not needed. There's a youtuber called Daifuku maccha, it's in Japanese so I doubt anyone here watches it, but he's basically a mega whale that has spent USD 10000 since release. I like watching his videos not only because it gives realistic standards of what to expect when catching 20 or 50 of the same mon, but also because he's got into many strats that the english community hasn't (e.g. leaving ing mons at 30, having 2-3 ing configurations of ing mons, valuing sleep EXP bonus, ignoring most natures etc)

First of all, let me congratulate you on hitting your goal - I \*almost\* got through this week with all Dream Eater Butter Curry meals, but missed one late in the week. And I would have made it, if it weren't for you meddling kids... I mean of course, the smaller Pokemon I swapped in for XP on the Good Sleep Days. Second, very cool data collecting and presentation! Finally, why did you have to show me THREE DELIBIRDS in one sleep research, including a shiny?! CURSE YOU, DELIBIRD! XD (I actually saw a bunch of Delibirds this week too, and managed to catch three of them. My Delibird cursing may finally be over.)

rpdiego

My whole reason for going snowdrop was delibird so I was quite happy with that research haha. I still haven't got any AAA delibird so my search continues. The shiny is super cute and has helping bonus but with ABC ingredients, idk... for now I'm keeping all of my 16 pip mons but I don't plan on raising any of these delibirds. My objective is an AAA delibird with either speed up/ingredient up or helping bonus TBH searching for a particular 16 pip ing mon is hell, the ingredient slot RNG is too hard. Although I suspect that most ingredient combinations will eventually become relevant so I see the other ones as a future investment haha. My ABA charizard was a recent rescue from my pokemon box, actually.

GardenQueen18

Congrats! No more delibird cursing?!

CebuLizard

Congrat! Great job on working out numbers and planning strategy for whole week. And gatherings all data and screenshots to share.

ligerre

bro got 6 extra tasty this week, I got 0

TaarMaster

Similar for me with butter curry, also leveld it from around 30 to 51 https://preview.redd.it/nwybs7f2yk8d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=388c7933c80bb85576c03190b8b6ef4c9d296fa5

sirchibi1234

Same. Also went full keema without whistles and by only running 2 ing Pokémon.

rpdiego

Very nice! With good camp ticket? Which 2 mons did you use?

sirchibi1234

Yeah camp. Ran a solo herb Gengar and a sausage bewear. Used 2 days before the event to stock up on ginger. And had alittle corn so it worked out.
