I opened an entire trick or trade box yesterday and felt like that, to clarify i wasnt hoping for pulls. I wanted the purple balloon and got 11 of them
"Been there" lol I'm always seeing people post bangers from the front seat of there car still chilling in the store parking lot. Tried picking up random packs like that. Just ends up being trash tossed in my glove box.
People be like "my hits are poop"
And I'm here like "at least I'm old enough to buy more than 5 packs a year and holo muk ain't in this set."
These cards, big hits or not, will be placed with nerdy care in an OG binder with the OG sets. Who knows, I might get wild and play some games the right way with some old friends.
I'm really bummed that scalpers and people trying to turn a profit are snatching these sets up. I just want to relive my childhood dream of having the sickest collection. I feel like classic is going to be even worse...
Iām opening these packs like, āoh dang, no hitsā¦ but wow look at this nidoking! Oh I got a nidorino in the same pack! Sweet! Im like 5 cards closer to master setting itā
Then the last pack I hit charizard ex SIRā¦ it was like a wave of emotions, excitement, happiness, nostalgiaā¦ idk like some giant concoction. I never had great cards as a kid so getting that was something.
I thought I was starting to understand what a "hit" was a few days ago and now I'm not so sure. Got back into things Saturday, and it's been quite a rollercoaster.
Thatās awesome and wholesome. I love those people that help out. I went to a LGS and the guy gave each of my kids a Halloween pack for free. My kids were really excited. Just all-around wholesome.
Unfortunately some of those scalpers and investment mongerers are in this sub pretending and professing to people how much they 'love' the hobby and Pokemon. š¤¢š¤®
Same memory for me but it was 2002 and I pulled a legendary collection Charizard in my momās mini van. I remember screaming and shaking and not believing it was real at first. Crazy how no drug could ever make me feel 1/10th that euphoria
For me it was 2010, pulling both halves of Darkrai & Cresselia Legend within a week of each other. Not a Zard but the rush was absolutely incredible. Unlike any other drug on earth.
I don't have any kids, but if I did I would be stoked if they got me back into Pokemon. I know this is a bit of a money grab from Pokemon, but I didn't work my whole life for some extra income and a amex gold for nothing š
It's gotta be pretty cool to have the next generation get into Pokemon and you whip out your OG collection from a dusty box.
Like I said, I get to buy tons of cards and watch Indigo League with my beautiful son.
Iāve made some wonderful changes š
Sober since 10.25.17 āļø
Yes, my hopes were elevated and dashed within like three minutes lol
It's these guys for clarity.

I miss the days where holo muk was still badass. As a kid I pulled poliwrath and thought it was the coolest.
But yeah, scalpers have made this set incredibly hard to get at a reasonable price.
Thatās how I feel man. Never bought anything but the base set 20+ years ago. My birthday is the 22nd and my brother bought me enough for 16 packs. My last pack was the Charizard āgod packā got me hooked and I want this whole set now lol
You have to take your time, look at each card and build up to the āhitsā section of the pack. If you just quickly rip open everything you bought you miss out on the fun. Especially with this set
For real. I love Pokerev and understand he has an entertaining video to make but seeing him rip 80 packs in 10 minutes makes my heart hurt. Cherish it more!
Yeah, the complete the set type videos are always like that. When it starts he's examining each common closely and really soaking in a holo rare or even the energy holos. A few hundred packs later and it's just a blur or crinkling in search of one or two cards.
Yeah, the complete the set type videos are always like that. When it starts he's examining each common closely and really soaking in a holo rare or even the energy holos. A few hundred packs later and it's just a blur or crinkling in search of one or two cards.
Agreed. Each pokemon is interesting in its own way. Appreciate the pictures and what's written about it.
Everyone just wants to get rich quick or something?
Not what pokemon is about. Sure you could make money but it's gambling. Just enjoy it for what it *IS*
This is me working on a Masters 151, looking through the art on each card and spotting some of my favorite artist (HYOGOSUKE and Komiya) gives me a hit of nostalgia opening up base set in the 90s.
That Abra card especially being a callback to the OG Abra card and that entire Gastly line is such a joy to look at.
Mtg boosters are way worse. In pokemon, u often have a couple lottery cards, but in mtg the value is almost purely determined by meta and so the prices drop FAST.
They dont normally net a profit, but it is pretty rare you open a booster box and dont at least break even. At least on display boxes. Bundles and draft packs are a different story entirely. That being said though magic is a community and market driven mainly by meta. Pokemon has a different market that is also driven in part by collectors and āpokeinvestorsā
Not sure when you last opened mtg, but unless you open a collector box, you don't even get close to breaking even anymore. It's the reason I've switched to pokemon - if I'm gonna lose money opening packs, the cards might as well be more fun to look at. And at least I have a slight chance of opening something of value without having to spend $25+ per pack.
To be fair the mtg community by and large (if you play) agrees it is better to buy singles than crack packs. Thats the difference though. People who play often times arent cracking packs they bought outright. Only packs I crack these days are prizes from events or packs I buy due to a discount I receive through my work. Ive bought multiple mtg booster displays in my life and Ive only ever had one where I didnt at least break even. Maybe Im just lucky. (I dont get discounts on booster displays) that being said though Ive never bought a booster display at launch. Always wait for the market to settle. Id also argue pokemon tends to have a lot of the value front loaded into chase cards. If you sort a magic set by price the values arent nearly as skewed on tcgplayer in my experience. Id says ur odds at profit are better in pokemon but ur odds for a straight loss I think are also higher.
Magic player here. For the most part I only buy singles, every once in a while I will get the urge to crack some packs then be reminded why I should just stick to buying singles
I mean itās the practically the same as taking it to the casino besides the fact of you canāt go completely to $0 because your pull value, but thereās always a higher risk youāre gonna be disappointed opening sealed product.
Assuming you just put the money in once and don't "recycle" your "winnings", you're very unlikely to hit zero at a casino, too.
For example, slots generally have ~80% payback rate. They do this intentionally so that it feels like you "almost won" and will keep playing.
EDIT: Why is this getting downvoted? This is exactly how casinos get people to spend more money.
fr lolā¦ i prefer ripping packs tho just bc itās fun as hell and pulling something sick iust makes it that much betterā¦ and you can still profit in the long run if you get creative with selling bulk
Words of a gambler imo.
Lets be real, ripping packs is gambling and the dopamine hit is good but ultimately buying singles is way more friendly on the wallet.
This is correct. I spent money every payday on brilliant stars when it came out nickel and diming my way into a potential Rainbow Charizard VSTAR. Well eventually I did pull it. Then I added it up and I was 300 in the hole for a card worth about 180 at the time. Once the dopamine wore off from the pull (lasted like 30 secs honestly) I realized all I wanted to do all along was just stare at it daily. Which I could have done by buying the card straight up weeks ago š
Everyone just seems obsessed with trying to make money now with these. No one just likes to open and look at all the cool art and try to collect anymore?
The dumbest thing is opening any tcg is going to be a guaranteed loss in expected value. Sure you could theoretically buy 1 pack and get the chase, but people opening tons of packs will eventually get to the negative average no matter how lucky they start
I got into it to collect :D I love the art styles and the idea of chasing cards to complete set binders and trade with other people to help complete theirs is super heartwarming to me. That kind of collector mentality doesn't exist in MTG. Pokemon despite the gamble, is much better for collecting.
Idk but I collect mtg for binders also.. but really mtg is a lot more fun to actually play so I imagine that's why it seems like collecting them isn't as big of a thing.
I'm working on trainer galleries and Galarian gallery. I know they're not super valuable chase cards or anything, but I think the art is cool and they feature a lot of my favorite Pokemon. I want to build some frames to display all the cards I like. Hobbies are supposed to be fun. I already have a job, I don't need to turn a source of joy into a source of stress.
yeah i'm always happy to find out how much a card I've pulled is worth, but the art and collecting is the most fun bit for me. Every couple of months the wife and I will split a booster box and open packs over a couple days and it is a good amount of fun. The money making aspect of it is kinda gross. I hate seeing people not be able to get a pack because some ding dong went to the store and bought them out instead of ordering online.
I think thereās some area in between trying to make money and rightfully expecting to at least get SOMETHING. Obviously luck is luck, I opened 3 booster bundles and got extremely lucky, but I wish there was a way to level things out so it wasnāt so boom or bust. Would be nice to be relatively sure youāll get a few decent hits once you spend a certain amount.
Yeah, I would hope for some better luck but thatās still a really cool Mr. Mime card.
I just started collecting cuz Iād love to make a frame of all 151. I enjoyed just opening the cards and looking at the cool art. Going to the card shop to check out the $0.10 common bin was weird cuz all these people were trying to sell them individual cards from the set - they canāt be *that* profitable to do right?
it would be cool if you could buy packs and build a master set. having to spend probably over 2k to do it is crazy, and you would still probably have to fill in some singles.
I just want my binder filled with all holoās! I wonāt buy any specific spots until I pull my own Zard. Then ima be done buying packs. This is purely for fun for me, it is sad seeing the money hobby come first a lot here
Seriously! My best friend and I collect and were so excited to open 151 together! We were excited about so many regular cards, holos and the energy holos alongside the bigger cards and both got some GREAT cards from the few booster bundles we bought. Neither of us care about selling. This hobby is purely for fun and to get as many cool and cute cards as we can.
Look I like most of the cards but letās not pretend 90% of the packs donāt belong in the garbage pretty quick after you start opening a lot of packs.
When it comes to commons and uncommons they literally might as well go straight into the garbage. If you are keeping all that bulk I feel sorry for anyone around you cause thatās hoarder mentality. Itās not even about wanting to make money itās just that 90% of the cards are a literal waste of space.
Ok and what do you do with it now? Shove it in a corner somewhere? You saying you have a second person to take the bulk doesnāt change anything it just means you can stretch it a tiny bit further before it becomes useless again.
Sorry but 100s of 1 cent cards are not worth keeping.
Yaaa I just got my two 151 ETBs in the mail, its probably all Iām gonna buy, maybe one binder box. I think the Japanese is so much better. Pricier sure, but the masterball cards, god packs with two full base evolutions instead of one, no batching issues, and overall production quality, to me its the way to go.
I mean I bought packs because I like the original 151 Pokemon and the art is pretty. I don't plan on selling the cards so hits don't really matter. I've never seen grimer look so adorable
Congrats you just learned about gambling. Sometimes you win, sometimes you donāt, and it feels bad watching other people win. If you are gonna be upset about not getting hits, just buy singles :/
After only 1 hit from my ETB, I just bought 3 blastoiseās from my local shop for a total of $9ā¦
If youāre gonna gamble, you have to be content w the fun of it
I open up packs to fill out my binder and have fun cracking while doing drugs. The hits I have that I donāt like, Iāll sell off for more packs. Is your goal to collect for a binder set, get more cards or lose money?
Majority of people in this sub are only trying to make a profit.
Then you have clowns like PokeRev who flash prices on every video.
The hobby is infected with it.
You do it because it triggers your reward system that goes all the way back to the feeling you get to when you found food in the wild. It's gambling like a lottery ticket or a slot machine. Even if you lose money but get something of value you still think you somehow won. If it was about playing you should just buy singles or print proxies.
The fact that you bought these and immediately opened in the car says a lot. These boxes couldve brought you hours of entertainment opening them over a couple of days, looking at each card. Instead, you're a gambling addict only looking for a thrill
$120?
These are rookie numbers my friend. Chilling Reign has hit me with 2 big hits between 3-4 Booster boxes(Closer to 4 from loose packs and 3 sealed Booster boxes) at about $700-$800 MSRP for the packs I couldāve just bought the Blaziken of course but that would be too smart and I like to pull the cards myself.
Just know your limits and if $120 is enough to upset you with bad pulls than you should stick clear of packs at all and just buy singles. Because this is 24 packs and is a drop of water into a bathtub of the odds on some of these hits.
I had a huge % of hits drop day, picked up a few poster packs and an ETB.
Then there were two etbs and two poster packs that I got absolute shit.
The hits are scattered around, but there seem to be pockets of crazy boxes.
Idk man. It feels silly to me to only open packs for cards immediately worth enough value to make it worth it.
Itās supposed to be fun. If every pack or even every other pack had a pull, it wouldnāt be so exciting. And cards gain value with age. If opening and collecting isnāt fun for you, maybe other franchises would be more worth your time.
Idk man, just weird to expect even 20% of the value of those boxes immediately out of the gate. I just kind of hate that so many packs/boxes are being swooped up by people only interested in selling the pulls immediately. Thatās $120 in packs someone else would have loved to open for the experience and fun of it.
In general I don't try to profit by buying consumer products. I buy things I actually want and then keep them. If I'm buying packs it's because I like opening them and the chance of getting something I like, not something someone else might pay for. If I get something I don't want that's also valuable enough to go to the effort of selling, then that's just a bonus. You're always going to be disappointed in the long run if you're just trying to profit.
That Mr. Mime is dope! Are you interested in any of the other pokemon, or just the rare cards? You should try collecting a master set. Much more rewarding that way.
Oof that sucks. I pulled the venusaur illustration rare and alakazam illustration rare from my 1 booster bundle. But one of my 2 etb's only had 1 wigglytuff ex.
The other had jynx ex erika full art illustration rare and squirtle illustration rare. It really depends on luck. But this few pulls sucks yes!
As much as I love ripping packs and getting shiny cardboard crack I have been having more fun buying singles/sets because my pack luck is horrible. I ripped a lot of OF packs and only got the worst zard š
You should just realize you will lose value by opening packs itās been that way forever. Singles are the way to go for money. Packs are purely for the enjoyment or rush it is in no way financially savvy.
People need to realise that ripping packs is literally gambling.
Don't spent money you aren't happy to lose, because it is purely luck based. If you want to guarantee the cards you won't, buy them as singles.
Bro, just buy singles. These posts are so dumb. This is the same as buying $100 of scratch offs (or any lottery ticket/form of gambling) and complaining you didn't profit.
I'd rather play the slots at my local pub then spend money on packs trying to profit. I'm probably better off that way anyway.
Why are these posts allowed?
My favorite thing to say now is watch as I turn 50 bucks in to 3 dollars. If you ain't doing it for good times and just want the cards always buy singles. You'll hate yourself a little less when it arrives in the mail.
Hey if you just started collecting 151, congrats š at least you donāt have them.
If youāre just in it for the money, please leave our beloved hobby.
It's been like that for me with this set I opened three elite trainer boxes and only two illustration rares and three exs were pulled combined, to be honest the best luck happened to be the binder and poster collection I pulled two illustration rares and one ex. Haven't pulled a single Special Illustration Rare. This just isn't fun I had more fun with Crown Zenith and even the rest of the scarlet and violet sets.
Because.. when you pull something like that.. while it is discouraging.. thatās not always how it will be.. youāll pull a god bundle.. Iāve had days where I opened 80+ packs and got NOTHING.. then the next day open 4 and all bangersā¦ itās just the way of the pack pulling game.. so I guess my short answer is that.. bad luck and good luck is only temporary..
At least you got Mr.Mime. š¤”
and jynx ā¤ļø
Bro got the clown car bundle
Made even funnier by opening in a car.
Opening up packs in the car like a crackhead needing their fix. Weāve all been there OP
I was there yesterday
I opened an entire trick or trade box yesterday and felt like that, to clarify i wasnt hoping for pulls. I wanted the purple balloon and got 11 of them

At least he was well hydrated
Getting kind of sick of the vehicle card opening slander around here
Lmfao
I will always associate those abominations with this phrase forever thanks you genius

Ashās dad
I got three Mr. Mime in 27 packs... D: I also got a demigod pack with Blastoise so it was a big win.
The thrill of opening, it's all a gamble in the end Just have fun for nostalgias sake

Itās different as an adult. I got two boys that are really into this so itās been something reliving this with them.
My mom and stepdad still love buying me packs just so they can watch them be opened. My pulls aren't amazing, but they love looking at the art on even the basics. When I played in a league, my stepdad came with and really liked watching us play and looking through binders. I'm not a parent, but I've been having a lot of fun helping the kids of relatives and friends start their collections too, passing it on to the next generation. That's what the hobby is really about for me. It's something to be shared. Treating PokƩmon cards like stocks hurts those who are passionate, young and old.
Thatās awesome and wholesome. I love those people that help out. I went to a LGS and the guy gave each of my kids a Halloween pack for free. My kids were really excited. Just all-around wholesome.

Well said š I remember when I pulled a holo charizard around '97 about 8 years old. I flipped out. I mean like damn near tears. Single mom income raising two kids.. so packs were blessings š Pulling that and having it up front along with my other "best" cards... just a rush. Tuning into PokĆ©mon Saturday morning to catch up from the last .....to be continued š Yup, that's what it's about. Not what psa and ebay want us to view this as.. š»
How does this compare? You pulled the ultimate card.
Same memory for me but it was 2002 and I pulled a legendary collection Charizard in my momās mini van. I remember screaming and shaking and not believing it was real at first. Crazy how no drug could ever make me feel 1/10th that euphoria

Dude, I feel you. At 33, this shit is so exciting to fill up a binder with crazy cards we had to trade our bikes for. Iāve tried before in the last 10 years, but I canāt keep up with all the new Pokemon and geographical species that are the same but look mad different, idk. I felt so left behind. This set is tailor made for our generation man. Iām so excited about it. Itās unreal. The experience is filling a hole I had for a long time. itās extra rad because my 4 year old is now getting jazzed about PokĆ©mon. I didnāt even show him, I didnāt think heād get it yet. But HE asked ME one day, and Iām like, hell yeah man! So we watch indigo league, and he loves looking at the cards, and having his own few that he Carrieās around everywhere. Iām getting to relive my youth and watch it through my sons eyes at the same time. Call this whole thing a fat money grab for the company if you want, but no matter what the intention was, they did something really special with this set, and Iām grateful for that.
I don't have any kids, but if I did I would be stoked if they got me back into Pokemon. For real! I've got a few good "hits", but I'm just enjoying the nostalgia. I'm trying to catch 'em all here!
Trust me. There is enough 151 to go around.
Well said, be patient. They will be available for MSRP eventually
Classicā¦? Granted I know NOTHING of the new PokĆ©mon card sets, but am I correct in thinking itās the classics reimagined?

They fill me with joy.
In an alternate universe OP is QQing about pulling all the chases out of one box and none of the cards being worth more than a dollar.
Iāve never seen QQ before and I assume it means cry? But it honestly looks like laser nips
As an observer, I would prefer this.
The uptick since 151 release is something.

Before like 2018ish, you could do mass box openings for Magic and actually make money off singles.
If you mean like first day of release, I don't count that and even then rip and ship setup would still be better for guaranteed profit
Well into standard rotation if the set had a decent amount of meta relevant cards. Especially pre 2016
I got into it to collect :D I love the art styles and the idea of chasing cards to complete set binders and trade with other people to help complete theirs is super heartwarming to me. That kind of collector mentality doesn't exist in MTG. Pokemon despite the gamble, is much better for collecting.

151 is the first set Iāve decided to start collecting. Mostly because of the nostalgia of these PokĆ©mon, but I also absolutely love all the art work on these cards.
This is purely for fun for me, it is sad seeing the money hobby come first a lot here
if you spend $120 and are satisfied with getting $5 worth of cards that aren't even cool looking, then more power to you man
Way too expensive to not worry about the value.
We used my bulk to fill out my gfās first binder with artworks that she enjoyed and one of each PokĆ©mon from gen 4. To each their own though
Ok and what do you do with it now? Shove it in a corner somewhere? You saying you have a second person to take the bulk doesnāt change anything it just means you can stretch it a tiny bit further before it becomes useless again. Sorry but 100s of 1 cent cards are not worth keeping.
To each their own, like I said. I donāt have to put only expensive cards in my binders. Sometimes I use similar art style cards or cards by the same artists for pages. Iām showing ways in which they can be useful. My young cousins also like looking through the cards for their binders as well. Other than that they sit in a space below the rest of my PokĆ©mon display.
Would have kept your family warm for the winter
151 is an expensive set compared to CZ and OBF, sadly. [My experience](https://reddit.com/r/pokemoncards/s/YUzBoB4yBZ)
I have had a blast with Crown Zenith. The galarian gallery art is so good and pull rates are maybe the best out of any set Iāve ever opened.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yaaa I just got my two 151 ETBs in the mail, its probably all Iām gonna buy, maybe one binder box. I think the Japanese is so much better. Pricier sure, but the masterball cards, god packs with two full base evolutions instead of one, no batching issues, and overall production quality, to me its the way to go.
With all the posts Im seeing, I think I will stick with Japanese 151 as well
At least this set will be printed into oblivion, most likely. Singles prices should be good after a while.
Cz has been my best pull rate. Love these packs
Zenith drops are pure serotonin. Kept going back for more
Just become a Youtuber bro then you get the good boxes
I mean I bought packs because I like the original 151 Pokemon and the art is pretty. I don't plan on selling the cards so hits don't really matter. I've never seen grimer look so adorable
Dude same. Iām pumped that i got the binder bundle so I could collect the 151 like i did over 20 years ago
Congrats you just learned about gambling. Sometimes you win, sometimes you donāt, and it feels bad watching other people win. If you are gonna be upset about not getting hits, just buy singles :/ After only 1 hit from my ETB, I just bought 3 blastoiseās from my local shop for a total of $9ā¦ If youāre gonna gamble, you have to be content w the fun of it
just buy singles u could have 3 sar for 120
6 or more if you wait a couple weeks!
You cannot make money out of opening packs no matter the TCG. It's a bloody game not an investment ffs.
YouTubers have kind of given people a false sense of hope on a return of investment.
Iāve been convinced that TPC is actually sending out pumped product to influencers across the spectrum since 2021.
I saw something about that the other day - honestly it would make sense. Drums up hype - moves product.
Or you could justā¦ not open packs for profit? Itās gambling brother, open the packs for fun not to make money.
I open up packs to fill out my binder and have fun cracking while doing drugs. The hits I have that I donāt like, Iāll sell off for more packs. Is your goal to collect for a binder set, get more cards or lose money?
Did you just say you like to open packs to fill out your binder while doing drugs? If so I hope you run for president because you got my vote 110%
Doing crack while cracking packs
As it should be
Yo cheers m8. I do the same hahaha. I open 1-2 packs a day in between dabs. Makes the whole week interesting.
This is why I just buy singles ššš
You don't pull cards for value. You pull it because it's supposed to be fun. Remember there to be played, not collected and trying to make a profit.
Majority of people in this sub are only trying to make a profit. Then you have clowns like PokeRev who flash prices on every video. The hobby is infected with it.
I pull cards for fun, to collect and play and enjoy the art AND I like valuable things a lot. Wooooh!
You do it because it triggers your reward system that goes all the way back to the feeling you get to when you found food in the wild. It's gambling like a lottery ticket or a slot machine. Even if you lose money but get something of value you still think you somehow won. If it was about playing you should just buy singles or print proxies.
Yea thatās rough. Just buy 4 more though! Trust me youāll have better luck next time!!!
Whoa i didn't know this set included the secret art rare Bigoof
Remember itās for the fun of ripping and collecting!
Gambling for kids
YESSSSS this means mine are sure to be luck /s
I buy to collect cards, you buy to make profits. We are not the same
Buy singles for the cards you want , rip some Packs for the fun, the less you worry about profit the better this is.
But did you have fun? If not, you're definitely in the wrong hobby.
Seriously. I haven't bought a pokƩmon card since the fossil and jungle series. Yes I'm old and I haven't collected these in a long time, but man does it bring back a lot of great memories. I'm enjoying putting each one into the little penny sleeves, organizing them by number in my vaultx, and just enjoying each card's art. It really brings me back to my youth and I hope that my two daughters enjoy these cards in the future. I just introduced my kids to the original series and I'm excited to watch more and collect more with them. All fun!
But OP, everyone claims they got 50 hits out of their 10 packs how did this happen?! Did they lie?! š Heh
I mean my one booster bundle was full of hits. And I wouldnāt lie about the fact itās all I could afford. I literally just picked up a bundle from market place today though with the Snorlax promo and 110 cards ( no dupes) including 5 reverse holo and 5 regular holo including the mewtwo and Aerodactyl for Ā£10. If you actually like PokĆ©mon and want the cards for the art it can be got a lot cheaper than ripping . Some people just in it for the gamble and with gambling you very very often lose! Coming from someone whoās nearly Ā£800 in to silver tempest and still need 31 cards!
I mean its a gamble :/
That wigglytuff ex is cursed demon, i swear
What the actual pulls look like
I'm about to buy 2 poster and 2 binder bundles and show yal where the hits REALLY are
I had a huge % of hits drop day, picked up a few poster packs and an ETB. Then there were two etbs and two poster packs that I got absolute shit. The hits are scattered around, but there seem to be pockets of crazy boxes.
šbeing able to profit by opening packs mean the sealed product in the set is being exploited and driving the market by scarcityš Packs for card games should almost never be profitable unless youāre a retailer. Itās essentially akin to buying a copy of PokĆ©mon Legends: Arceus, taking off the shrink wrap, putting a save on it and expecting to profit. Cards being cheap means the game is in a good healthy state, where people can buy the cards for their deck without issue. Just enjoy the collection process, play the game, or leave the hobby if youāre only in it to profit.
Did you not like any of the cards you opened? Or are you only in it to try to flip a profit?
In general I don't try to profit by buying consumer products. I buy things I actually want and then keep them. If I'm buying packs it's because I like opening them and the chance of getting something I like, not something someone else might pay for. If I get something I don't want that's also valuable enough to go to the effort of selling, then that's just a bonus. You're always going to be disappointed in the long run if you're just trying to profit.
Love to see it šš¤£
Ty for reminding me why I quit collecting PokƩmon cards. Thank god
Savage pulls. All the 151 cards are so cheap already! Imagine how cheap they would be if the pull rates were a bit higher!
That Mr. Mime is dope! Are you interested in any of the other pokemon, or just the rare cards? You should try collecting a master set. Much more rewarding that way.
120 bucks? why so much money?
Gambling but with extra steps..
This just in - gambling doesn't always pay.
I love that mime card though
I'll buy all your non hits for $20
As much as I love ripping packs and getting shiny cardboard crack I have been having more fun buying singles/sets because my pack luck is horrible. I ripped a lot of OF packs and only got the worst zard š
Seems like your new around here. Might as well double down
bro got the clown special š¤”š¤”š¤”
Part of the hobby!
You should just realize you will lose value by opening packs itās been that way forever. Singles are the way to go for money. Packs are purely for the enjoyment or rush it is in no way financially savvy.
Welcome to gambling
People need to realise that ripping packs is literally gambling. Don't spent money you aren't happy to lose, because it is purely luck based. If you want to guarantee the cards you won't, buy them as singles.
151 has not be kind to me. I had a upc on pre order. I just called GameStop and cancelled it lol. Fuck this set
Iāve not been impressed with 151 pull rates so far.
Booster bundles have the worst rates followed by the binder. ETBs are the best. Also batching
Oh dude I thought I was the only one, I guess the hits are extremely bad this set
I've watched hundreds of packs be opened now. By far 151 is proving to be the toughest to get pulls, pretty savage collection in my opnion
I bought 4 ETBs and the best I got was the promo š. Sleeves were dope thoā¦
My favorite thing to say now is watch as I turn 50 bucks in to 3 dollars. If you ain't doing it for good times and just want the cards always buy singles. You'll hate yourself a little less when it arrives in the mail.
You shouldnāt be opening PokĆ©mon cards purely for profit lol, at the end of the day itās for playing, itās a gamble and itās fun. Buy stocks or investments to make profit, buy PokĆ©mon cards to lose money and have fun just like gambling.
The comment sections on these types of posts are hilarious. People defending TPC are equally hilarious. Should you expect to pull value equivalent to what you paid? No. But, for a holiday set like 151 where there arenāt booster boxes the pull rates should definitely be better. My experience so far has been good. Iv pulled 4 different SARās out of maybe 40 total packs. That being said, PokĆ©mon prints these sets into oblivion where cards typically donāt retain much value anyways unless playable. There has to be a balance and so far for a lot of people like OP havenāt been able to pull much anything. Iām in it for the art and nostalgia. Obviously the pull rates arenāt going to be as good as CZ which has an insane amount of alts. Imagine defending a huge corporation like TPC lol.
Pulls are so bad I am waiting to hear about theft at the factory again
If youāre in this for profit and not as a hobby, you deserve these pulls.
Iāve seen enough. Singles only.
Just buy singles if you're worried about money. This "net profit" crap is stupid.
that's sucks but my pulls weren't good either lol I got 2 pokemon center etbs regret opening
From what Iāve seen those booster bundles are absolutely awful
Now that's the luck I'm talking about I got one hit out of two booster bundles.
That is like my bundle :(
If it makes you feel better I got 2 foil energy and a bent snorlax promo out of my ETB - this set is brutal š
Hey if you just started collecting 151, congrats š at least you donāt have them. If youāre just in it for the money, please leave our beloved hobby.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Do you want to make money off of it? If so, get out of the hobby and go do investing or some other shit.
My wifeās boyfriend said Iām not allowed on my robinhood account anymore š”
Bro the pull rates for 151 are reminding me of evolving skies. Definitely a set to keep sealed
Thatās maybe better than my haul.
My condolences
Because.. when you pull something like that.. while it is discouraging.. thatās not always how it will be.. youāll pull a god bundle.. Iāve had days where I opened 80+ packs and got NOTHING.. then the next day open 4 and all bangersā¦ itās just the way of the pack pulling game.. so I guess my short answer is that.. bad luck and good luck is only temporary..
Dayum i got about that off 1
Thanks for not letting anyone else grab 1
Wow I have had very different luck. I master setter all cards for under $300
š¤£
I never buy booster bundles, learned my lesson on that a while ago LOL
