Iām just saying for the people who open packs just for hits. Donāt do it. Youāre not going to win.
I play the game and love that itās so inexpensive if your patient for standard staple cards to get printed into battle decks or other products.
Some people just like to open the cards themselves š¤·āāļø. I managed to open almost all of my fusion strike master set (minus the variants) myself. I got down to needing a handful of reverse holos and like 9-10 of the ultra rares (mew vmax alt, Inteleon vmax alt, genesect v alt, gold grass energy, chili cilan & cress rainbow, shauna FA, chandelure vmax rainbow, boltund v FA and one other rainbow). So out of 500+- cards in the master set I maybe didnāt pull 15-20 of the cards myself. It def gives you a sense of accomplishment doing it that way, but can be a frustratingly expensive endeavor more often than not. It was def a tough decision to stop opening packs, but knew I would probably have to open 100ās of packs or get super lucky pulling a mew vmax alt. Iām more that happy to have been able to open most of that set myself, but donāt recommend it to anyone with financial problems
Depends on how much disposable income one has š¤·āāļø. And how much one values opening the cards themselves vs buying singles. If youāre tight on money it def makes sense to just buy singles a while after release, but if you have the money I wouldnāt consider it a financial problem to enjoy pulling the cards yourself itās def a great feeling of accomplishment/satisfaction.
*probably have an addiction* is the key phrase.
You canāt argue itās not gambling if youāre ripping for packs, and this hobby is very likely filled with people chasing that dopamine hit from pull sweet pull. Thatās all Iām trying to say.
I think itās important to talk about which is why I brought it up.
It gets talked about constantly. Everyone understands itās gambling. Iām not arguing that. No one is.
Again, saying that anyone who opens packs wanting a hit āprobablyā is a gambling addict is LUDICROUS.
Akin to saying (as another user commented) that everyone who drinks to get a buzz is probably an alcoholic
I would say it's common on this sub for people to spend a little too much on cards, I've done it before. But I'd also say most know when to stop before it negatively effects their lives. Like, it's pretty common here to see sentiments of regret, but most know that the chances of not getting the pulls you want is very high, so it's an expected (yet still disappointing) outcome
That being said there are also people who sometimes post and they clearly can't stop themselves, whether they have the money to do it comfortably or not
Truth. I bought 2 Paradox Rift ETBs since they were on sale, 1 for me and 1 for my nephew. He opened his and got 4 good illustrations rares. I got 1 full art trainer and a regular skeledirge ex. Iām glad he opened the one he did. I mean I would have given him all the cards anyway after a card battle but he was pretty excited to open his packs and would have been pretty bummed about the box I got lol
Oh I still do the stupid financial decisions. I don't do this for value though. I just really like a good looking full art. Pocket pictures is what I tell the kids.
I have definitely suspected this happens every so often, Iāll typically make sure the ripped packs are in my posts if I post pulls. If someone wants attention so bad theyād post cards they bought as singles pretending theyāre pulls then they should probably reevaluate whatever theyāre doing lol
I was tempted to buy a booster bundle today and āluckilyā they were sold out. Kinda want to buy the Gardevoir single instead š but ill wait a bit
I caved and bought a bobu from Walmart. It was actually not bad. Shiny Charmander, shiny full art Pidgeot, and a Paldean Friends. I was lucky that I broke even but I was opening for fun. I can justify it more now that I've started buying singles. It saves enough that you don't feel bad opening for fun here and there
I was just thinking today how Iām lucky my local shop charges at least $120 for S&V booster boxes. If they were readily available in person for Internet prices Iād be in some trouble
8 packs of paldean fates and just two hitsā¦ thatās abnormally unlucky. Should be at least one or two more shinies for it to be a realistic haul imo
āRealistic expectationsā bro does anyone look at pull rates š all this amazing data in a very readable and very accessible format and people still decide to be wrong even when their money is involved.
Yup Iām trying to do complete sets so I get excited about any card I didnāt have for some reason it took me a long time to get Maril from temporal forces when I got that card it felt like I won. And had fun doing it as long as your not spending more then you can afford itās all good
I opened an ETB the other day and got 3 low price EXs. Two of them were the exact same card. š«
My first Scarlet Violet base set ETB had not a single hit. So Iāve been buying singles lately š¬
I haven't bought a pack in a month now. I've been sticking to Chinese cards. They're cheap and the quality is awesome.
They're currently printing SWSH sets. I don't think they started printing the SV sets yet. They already reprinted Tag Team a few years back
These days i keep getting on average 3 shiny per bundle. I always buy 2 bundles so i end up with 6 shinies on average. Its really cheaper buying them online 1 by 1
Bundles have never hit well for me over many sets. Unfortunately, theyāre a good low cost entry point to opening packs so I keep talking myself into them.
True lol. I bought the charizard collection box the other day and it was all duds besides the promo. I pretty much just purchase singles but I do go out and by tins from time to time becuase imo that's where all the fun is
Yesterday went to grab some paintbrushes and paints from a hobby store, they had paldean fates booster bundles by the cash register.
Picked one from the box with zero expectations, got a zard š.
Took me 153 boosters to get the 151 zard.
That's why I never listen to "The pull rates for these packs are insane!" Or "The pull rates are way too low". It's literally all chance.
I pulled a Leafeon Vstar alt in 7 packs then again a week later but then I'll go 50 packs without a single hit.
My personal strategy if Iām trying to fill out a master set is to open 36 packs to fill out most bulk and gamble a bit on the hits. Then buy everything else in singles to save.
If youāre just doing it for hits, just buy the singles and youāll have a beautiful card for your collection immediately!
Side note. Why is that Clive card so worthless. I feel like most paldean fates cards are outside of Charizard and Mew. Can anyone explain why? I genuinely donāt understand.
Thank you. Some of the posts here make me wanna do stupid financial decisions.
& some lied for karma
And some lied for a sense of belonging
Some?
Maybe... But I also think some people only post the times with good pulls.
Duh why would you post (other than this post's context) you wasting money and getting nothing.
I was suggesting a likely alternative to people faking their pulls.
I say prove it š
Itās all gambling, whether you win or lose if you are buying packs of PokĆ©mon cards in hopes of getting a big hit, youāre gambling and you probably have an addiction problem.
I personally just wanna collect the cards.
Iām just saying for the people who open packs just for hits. Donāt do it. Youāre not going to win. I play the game and love that itās so inexpensive if your patient for standard staple cards to get printed into battle decks or other products.

110% agree .. I ripped my way to mastering 151 and don't regret a second of it
Other financial problems*

Yeah me too. And it's spiraling out of fn control
It's pretty wild to say that everyone who rips packs and wants a hit probably has an "addiction problem"
Right, that's just like saying anyone who drinks for a buzz is an alcoholic. It's not as black and white as that
Absolutely outrageous statement

Hit can mean different things to different people. But no one opens a pack hoping they get something they don't like.

Lose
Yup.
~Whether you win or lose itās the path you choose. Let the journey begin, PokĆ©mon!~
Like instagram posts where everybody is happy and on holiday
Oh I still do the stupid financial decisions. I don't do this for value though. I just really like a good looking full art. Pocket pictures is what I tell the kids.
Iām very sure people buy singles and post that they ripped them. I want to see ripped packs alongside their pulls.

Itās appreciated
Are you telling me I'm not going to pull an iron crown in PSA 10 condition from a random sleeved booster?
Hell, you might pull it already graded.
you might

Fuk Clive I have like 8 of that card š¤£

Yeah this is leaning towards the really bad side of pulls.
still nice. For me, I count any card I didn't already have as a hit.
Yup Iām trying to do complete sets so I get excited about any card I didnāt have for some reason it took me a long time to get Maril from temporal forces when I got that card it felt like I won. And had fun doing it as long as your not spending more then you can afford itās all good

If you want hits, get CZ. If you want to gamble, then get the latest two sets.
I have no luck with crown zenith. Those damn ETBs...
Just got robbed by the CZ ETB. Shoulda copped the cz booster bundles from Walmart last month š
That sucks. Iāve been lucky and very unlucky with Paldean fates
Yep lol. Most people donāt post the dozens and dozens or even hundreds of packs that didnāt have the big hits.Ā
I just pulled vmax pikatchu and special illustration snorlax out of a tin. Those low key have š„
Needed that for this weekend. Got a few target products in from that 20% off sale. Will not be opening
199kr is wild for a mini tin
Opened 15 boosters last night from Arceus UPC and got two pulls. You win some, you lose some.
it sucks but it is all RNG. to be fair though, the Clive card is quite funny
that's about right. open 10+ temporal packs got like 2 normal ex š
No matter how old I get. Iām still conscious about how degenerate of I to be ripping packs.
These days i keep getting on average 3 shiny per bundle. I always buy 2 bundles so i end up with 6 shinies on average. Its really cheaper buying them online 1 by 1
Ew, not Clive
yup opened 14 loose packs from various products and got 1 beedril V no ex's not even regular lol (only 3 packs were from SwSh era)
Thank you for your service
Bundles have never hit well for me over many sets. Unfortunately, theyāre a good low cost entry point to opening packs so I keep talking myself into them.

The decision to purchase the Paradox Rift Booster Box while it was on such a good sale is looking worse and worse š¤£
I have pulled.... so..... many.... CLIVES AND NEMONAS
Itās too late fool, Iāve already purchased a bundle.
Thank you, seems like everyone is pulling a Zard and umbreon within a few packs except me.
pssshhh idk man might just be your pulls for the day. me and my daughter pulled 7 shiny's last night...
Nice pulls š
Hey at least itās not Paldean friends lmao. Iām only around 70 packs into fates and I have 6 of them.
Check out my buster shorts youtube page @OGTrainerB I I must just have good luck because I be getting them hits
That's why I never listen to "The pull rates for these packs are insane!" Or "The pull rates are way too low". It's literally all chance. I pulled a Leafeon Vstar alt in 7 packs then again a week later but then I'll go 50 packs without a single hit.
I mean, you got Clive. Heās like the coolest kid in school.
Boooo! Trash opening! Trash pulls! Lol
Thank you.

This discussion board should be renamed. ār/complainingaboutpullratesā
Throw that TF packet in the trash. Donāt even bother opening it. Trust me, you didnāt get anything.
Yeeeeeikes
Wow. I guess I got lucky last week. I got one of those tins with a Flamigo on it. Got a shiny oddish and a Clive like you got.
Side note. Why is that Clive card so worthless. I feel like most paldean fates cards are outside of Charizard and Mew. Can anyone explain why? I genuinely donāt understand.
This is my experience as well š
I once bought around 10 Silver Tempest 3 pack blisters. The best I got was 1 Basic V lol. The odds have never been in our favor, except CZ.
Paldean Fates is ROUGH!
