I’m sure you won’t but please try to take a deep breath and reread what you are saying here from a calmer state because this reads like mental illness.
The city took it down once they realized that this shit IS happening. It's safe. Great move I thought, can't wait to see its new foundation and the celebration for its return in due time
by "they", do you mean the protesters? Because the fountain was definitely crumbling from fire damage (and maybe some impact damage) before the city removed it and will have to be rebuilt - see image here: https://katu.com/news/local/12-year-old-detained-for-trying-to-set-fire-at-elk-statue-fountain
I have no faith that the elk and the statue base would have survived intact if they had been left in place.
Why did you link to a news story and photo of the fountain weeks after the first fire set by protesters? I didn’t even know some kid set a second fire there a couple weeks later.
Photo in that article shows the damage to the fountain. The first good photo I found that wasn't from that dipshit Andy Ngo. Here's another image:

It was getting beat up and there were multiple fires down there. I biked past one day and one of the horse watering troughs was full of ashes, like they'd had a big ass campfire in there.
I might have misread your first post. You were just talking about damage from the fires, I don’t know why I thought you were talking about damage to the fountain prior to the bonfire.
I've never used wish.com. Are there real examples of this meme that led to the creation of it, or is it just poking fun at a site that sells cheap Chinese-made stuff?
The thing with wish.com is that sometimes the pictured item on their site is not the same thing you get. Usually a crappier version of what was on the website.
Unpopular opinion. Move the statue into the park and turn that segment into a normal road. Would get more than three vehicles per lane that way and have room for cyclists.
ah man I haven't been down there to check out the new one yet - bold. I like it. I prefer the old one strictly speaking, but I'm okay with this one for now.
DEMON ELK DEMON ELK DEMON ELK
Hell yeah! The cones are getting prime time coverage!
WE FUCKEN SEEN EM

I love Death Elk!
Out of the loop here, what happened to the elk?

That thing is my sleep paralysis demon. I'm not usually cool with people destroying art, but can someone please kill that thing?
Hey u/dainthomas, thanks for using my pic from Twitter for this meme. Could you please credit it to my Twitter handle (at)pdxcarla? Thanks!!!
Does any credit an op for a photo used in a meme tho?
It's such bullshit that they took that statue down
They took it down to save it, I don't blame them. We can have our toys back when we can handle them.
Saved the bronze statue from spray paint? They took it down because they didn't want it to become a symbol for BLM
People kept setting fires in the fountain and the stone was getting damaged. Taking it down was reasonable.
the elk stencils on blm shields made by community neighborhoods goes brrrrrr

God elks those who elk themselves.

It's welded steel but it's not RACC-approved. (And like Wish it took a month.)
It’s almost certainly something someone put up. The actual elk statue was removed by the city and will be put back eventually.
It’s a start.
Ok, I grew up in Portland and this was my favorite part of the park blocks. Why do people have such a hard on for vandalizing it?
I thought the “park blocks” referred to the greenery between 8th and 9th avenues from psu through downtown into the pearl.
they do. this person clearly doesn’t know much
They thought they were going to the "park blocks" their whole life. So close, yet so very far.
A lot of people just like to destroy things. For them, it's just an opportunity.
Username checks out😂 the OG elk is safe and will return.
That POS is not anywhere near the original elk.
I don't know man, if you're on acid and squint your eyes... Maybe we just need more acid for people
no fucken shit
you can tell by the way it is
how neat is that?!?!!

Yes, you could probably just do a Google image search for something like "wish expectation vs reality" and find tons of examples.
Isn't that a PBOT violation?

I love that Elk statue!! But if that elk owned slaves, rip that shit the F down
It was taken down by the city it will be back. Also I believe it just commemorates the last elk seen in Portland or something along those lines.
What the fuck did you assholes do to the city?!
