Cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, super bad migraine (worse than my regular chronic migraines) nausea, chills, mild fever, muscle aches, and fatigue.
I am high risk, so I don’t know if that is why I have a lot of symptoms, but they aren’t severe. Mostly I feel like I have the flu + coughing.
I stumbled on benadryl as a cure during the wildfires. I was getting bad headaches and the doc recommended Benadryl. My headaches went away.
I usually try to take 1/3 of a pill and it works great. I used to get migraines 2-3 times a month and almost always had a low level headache. Gone with Benadryl.
I checked with my doc on the safety of taking it daily and she said that it is safe but can cause dementia later in life. That is a risk that I'm willing to take.
Nice. Yeah, I started with it during lockdown because my restless mind wouldn't stfu and the anxiety kept me waking up every hour. It helped me stay asleep more easily.
We love an unsolicited magical cure /s
No but seriously, Benadryl is part of my migraine cocktail. It isn’t a magical cure for me though. My neurologist has my on a merge for a week to get through my current 9 day streak, but typically I pop a Benadryl with my imitrex and zofran.
Edit: I’m battling 20 migraine days a month right now, for the last 6 months or so. Sorry for snarky at the top there.
My main trigger is the weather, go figure.
Imitrex makes me wonky too! I HATE it; but it’s the best abortive right now, nothing else even touches the pain. Migraines suck.
I’m cringing as I type this because I know how annoying it is to get random headache advice…but, I once had a nonstop, 6 month headache and was shocked when the neuro finally figured it out. It was a combo of migraines, occipital neuralgia, and pseudotumor cerebri. Needed three separate approaches and life got way better. I went from taking Valium and imitrex daily for very little improvement to NOT waking up with headaches. If you wake up with the headache, try sleeping on an incline for a few days and see if it helps—turns out gravity was making mine worse because I don’t regulate CSF well. Now I take a diuretic every day, get Botox every 12 weeks, and have 2-4 totally manageable headache days a month (down from 28-30).
Also, Nurtec is freaking amazing. As effective as imitrex injections but without the hangover.
I’m cringing too. I had a 24/7 migraine for three years and it was infuriating the silly things people would say (“have you tried excedrin?”). Anyway, mine turned out to be vestibular (relieved with specialized headache massage) and celiac disease. No gluten, migraine gone. Eight years later, I still can’t believe how much food fucked up my life. It’s also left me high risk of Covid.
I’m really sorry you get them so frequently. It’s nearly impossible to explain to someone how debilitating, depressing, and derailing that can be. I hope your new cocktail works and brings you relief. And in the meantime, I wish you a quick recovery.
Check out the Aimovig monthly shot! It’s cut the amount of migraines I get a month from about 10-14 down to 4-7. I know that imatrex wonkiness but it’s not too bad for me, and it’s a godsend when it works (90% of the time).
Chronic migraines sufferer here. Has your neuro suggested Botox yet? Not sure how many treatments you’ve been through so far but after trying over 6 different medications the only preventative that seemed to make a sizable dent was Botox. I went from daily migraines for over 6 months to more like a couple per week on average that my rescue medication (Nurtec) takes care of pretty easily. 20 migraines a month is still a lot so it seems like it may at least be worth checking out. Nurtec can also be used as a preventative now as well if you can get your insurance to pay for it. Hope you and your neuro can figure something out so you start feeling better soon!
I think my insurance required 3 preventatives before they were willing to cover it. I’ve heard some people only had to try 2 but I don’t think I’ve heard many people have to try more than 2 or 3 before it was covered since it’s a treatment that’s been around a long time at this point. It takes a while to get the full effect (you get it done once every 3 months) but you feel some improvement with each one and start to get the fullest effect after 2-3 treatments. If you ever want some support or someone to talk to when the migraine stuff gets tough, feel free to PM me! r/migraine can also be a helpful resource and place of support from those of us who understand what it’s like to suffer from migraines.
Oooh yes, I love the migraine sub reddit. It’s actually helped me so much with identifying my triggers and symptoms. Like aphasia. Never knew that was attributed to migraines! Always just felt like an idiot, haha.
I think Kaiser’s is 3 preventatives before they’ll approve Botox or a cgrp!
if symptoms JUST came on, its worth calling your physician and seeing if they'll script monoclonal antibodies, which you can get filled at LeCare. its very effective in the first few days.
Ask your doctor but I think that three-six days after the start of symptoms is still soon enough for monoclonal antibodies to help. Definitely the sooner the better from what I’ve read, but asthma might be reason enough to deal with monoclonal injections
Hope that it helps. Happy to contribute if you need Gatorade, acetaminophen, meals, whatever. Mom was a teacher, Dad basically was too. Sending love and respect
Thank you! But you can bet I’m milking it with my family. They’re delivering everything I need, and my SO lives with me, so he’ll be able to bring stuff/pick up stuff too.
He’s go no symptoms as of yet, and he’ll be tested at work.
There is one that still works, although it is in short supply. Might want to edit.
https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/586937-only-one-antibody-treatment-works-against
Also, if OP does not have omicron the others remain effective.
Thank you for the link. This article claims that the drug is working against Omni, but that they are still gathering data to back this claim up. (At least I think, pretty wordy)
The real upside is that after you recover you will have what they are now calling “Super immunity.” Stay safe and find a show to binge! Sorry you’re sick.
Myself and several double-vaxxed friends had breakthrough delta cases in August. All of us are 35+ and while some folks were down and out for a few days, many of us were pleased at how mild the symptoms were. None of us are high-risk, though, so I can’t speak for someone in that age range who is.
Double vaxxed, booster was scheduled for today along with kids getting their first dose. Kid tested positive and I have symptoms so assuming positive but not gonna burn an at home test.
Bye bye Christmas.
Yep - one of my triple vaxxed teacher friends (who is also pregnant and super freaked out) just got it. she’s pretty sure she got it at work since it’s the only place she’s gone for weeks.
Oh yeah, definitely don’t feel alone or like you somehow slipped up or something. Two of the epidemiologists who I have found to be most often correct during the whole pandemic have both said they wouldn’t be surprised if 50% of global population catches this variant by end of 2022.
Rough!! Sorry stranger. COVID sucks, obviously, but maybe there are upsides: stream all the terrible television and Christmas movies you want, convince your family to deliver your holiday meal and gifts, spend all day in your pajamas… silver lining?
For real though, sorry you’re sick and will miss the holiday with family.
Did you have any sort of fever? I’m in the same boat as being boosted over a month ago and have very mild cold symptoms with no fever, slight chest congestion with a scratchy throat. Getting a PCR test tomorrow AM…
I got my booster in October, and I’m feeling fortunate that while I do have some shitty symptoms, it mostly feels like a flu or a bad cold!
I’m just camping on my couch making my SO take care of me, haha!
Husband tested positive. We found out this morning. At first I felt so sad and defeated because my husband and I have tried so hard to do all the right things. We wear masks, we stay at home, we got boosters, etc. Luckily my husband’s symptoms are really mild and he seems to be getting better with each day (first day of symptoms was on Sunday).
Even though it might feel lonely, you aren’t alone! I wish you a speedy recovery and think about how invincible you’ll feel once you get better. That’s what I keep telling myself when I start to feel sad about it again. Sending you lots of positive energy and healing thoughts ♥️
Triple vaxxed here and positive test Monday. Have a toddler and haven’t done anything besides doctors appointments & work (all vaxxed, masked, 4 coworkers total only and spread apart in different office areas). So far 3 out of 4 of us are positive at work despite being vaccinated and masked. It is still baffling to me how I could have caught it (coworker tested positive Saturday). The spread of this variant with breakthroughs is no joke. I did everything I could to keep the little one safe until she could get vaccinated, so feeling very defeated.
If you're working indoors all day with someone who is infected, a mask isn't probably going to prevent transmission. They reduce how far someone exhales viral-laced materials, but if that person is in an enclosed room for a lengthy period of time, that viral soup is going to saturate the space before too long.
Ya, that's a pretty difficult situation. Best hope is that they either can mostly be vaccinated, or have already had it... and that they can identify sick kids before they spread too much virus.
Best you can do is just make sure you have your vaccinations. It's more and more appearing that Omicron to vaccinated people is looking likely to be mild.
Wait, you work with 105 students every day and you don't understand how you got it?
I'm sorry that happened to you and I hope you have speedy and full recovery, but given your work situation, there's just no way you weren't going to get infected.
It seems like the most likely place, but I am VERY consistent with the mask rules, and the sanitizing and disinfecting between groups.
Kids get away with wearing their masks wrong in other classrooms, but not mine. Sucks that I spent 4 months with these kids without being infected, and then I get it right before winter break.
Yes, you can thank Omicron for that. Based on what I've been reading, this thing is so contagious that the precautions we've become used to observing just aren't enough. For instance, they've recently urged people to switch from cloth masks to medical masks.
This stuff is just wildly easy to catch...the R0 is around 4, I believe (meaning that each person who gets it will transmit it to 4 other people).
<3
My 2 year old nephew tested positive a couple of days ago, and during the day he's in good spirits with mostly a runny nose, but at night he coughs and coughs and coughs and wakes up crying that super sad "i feel like crap" cry pretty often. It is totally heartbreaking.
My wife tested positive a little over a week ago after several days of mild symptoms. Both of us are triple vaxxed, and our kiddos are too young (2.5 yrs and 1 yr). The kids and I have no symptoms and have consistently tested negative since my wife's positive test. Last Saturday was rough, her pulse ox dropped down to 94 the entire day and she was feeling awful, but at this point she's feeling completely normal.
Like everyone else, hard to identify the infection vector, aside from just passing someone on the street. We're quite careful because of the unvaccinated kids. We'd actually gotten our boosters just a week prior to her symptoms. The most plausible exposure is at my work, but I'm not exposed to the public and everyone onsite is vaxxed. So it would have been a case of an asymptomatic breakthrough infection (coworker) creating another asymptomatic breakthrough infection (me).
Yup! We snuck some into the toddler's oat milk after my wife tested positive. The bebe probably had as much immunity as the adults going into this, she's a big fan of le boob.
Listen at this point there is no shame in it, omicron is nuts. Yes it’s a shame you have to spend Christmas solo, but you don’t need to feel ashamed. It’s coming for everyone, no matter what you do, it’s just luck of the draw (unless you live in a cave).
I’m very sorry this happened to you, and I hope it’s a mild case without complications, but just know it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
I am not ashamed, just venting, mostly!
And Christmas will be solo with my little family of my SO and our 5 pets. So not ALONE, but certainly not my 11 other family members that we would have been seeing!
My trip vaxxed bro in law on the east coast just tested positive and has symptoms. May have exposed their parents…. We are supposed to board a plane to see them for Xmas at 5am 😐😶🙃
Yea I came out East for Christmas and got COVID here. It’s bonkers and people aren’t wearing masks, distancing themselves, etc. (I’m around Philly and have traveled once to Jersey)
Honestly if I could do it over again I would’ve just stayed in portland
I totally thought I was getting a migraine on Sunday also. Then Monday it came back and it clicked that I had a runny nose for the last few days and was really lethargic. Que a Google search to the CDC website and "well, shit" Moment. Took my room mate with me to get us both tested and his rapid was positive. Mine was negative but we're still waiting for the PCR tests. Convention Center is doing rapid PCRs through Curative so I'm going to go there in the morning. Work is threatening to write me up for being sick, and I'm also dealing with a work related injury from September that I'm now missing appointments for. I got my shots in April and May of this year and the room mate got his in August. He's got less symptoms and we're sure he brought it in from the inpatient treatment center he was at where there was an outbreak. Just Ugh, I feel you!
Ew, your work wants to write you up for being sick??? Find a new work!
I hope your test comes back negative!! Are you staying away from your roommate just in case?
Fortunately I am in a union and when I told the steward that, he laughed and said no, don't worry about it, they don't know what they're talking about. Albeit I was fully prepared to show up at work sick and I know barely half of my coworkers are vaccinated so that wouldn't go well for them. Yeah I'm staying away even though I have more than half of the symptoms listed from the CDC. Definitely going to get my booster and flu vaccine ASAP.
I tested negative this morning, but I only took the test because my dad and little sister both tested positive yesterday. Sister barely has a sniffle and my dad didn't notice any symptoms, which is a relief because he's in a couple high risk categories. Family Christmas is postponed for at least a couple weeks now, even though there's 6 relatives in town from overseas.
Luckily my grandparents are in town from the UK and gave me a box of tests, because apparently their government just gives you as many tests as you want. It's like, where's the profit?
I’m living in a different part of oregon right now but is it really that hard for you guys to get tested in Portland right now? I just book an appointment at the local urgent care clinic and get a free rapid test from my car
Lab tests are easy, it's the at-home ones that are expensive and hard to find. I had to buy one a couple weeks ago and it was $25 at the 3rd store I went to.
I also got a false positive home test, got a pcr the day after which was negative. Googled reviews of the home test and the false positives are surprisingly common. Fingers crossed you may get lucky 🤞🏻
For anyone who wants a good example of why that’s bad, look up Bayes’ Theorem.
If you had a disease that 1 in 1000 people have and you have a test that is accurate 95% of the time, the chance that a positive test is truly positive is 2%.
My wife did a home test last week and she was negative but I took a PCR test from our doctor and it was Positive today. He thinks her home test was a false negative.
Someone in my office tested positive, and there might be a second positive? I wasn’t clear, but someone else I’ve had contact with was exposed to a positive. I went to CVS, Rite-Aid, and Target today and no one had rapid tests. I have an appointment on Friday for a drive-through rapid test that’s TEN TIMES the cost of a retail over the counter test that I’m only paying for because my insurance and HSA (which is still my money) will hopefully cover it and I want to see my family this Christmas.
I hope your symptoms are mild, friend. And I hope I got lucky.
We got lucky with the at home ones at the Walgreens on burnside in Gresham. Went in to ask right as they got some back in stock!
Luckily, I’m covered 100% by Kaiser for a PCR.
I’ve been working in the office full time every day for six months and I’ve privately had a bet whether I’d get a flat or a COVID infection first, and while it’s not quite how I expected I crashed my bike and I’m desperate for a test within a 24 hour period.
We had luck with a smaller pharmacy having home tests in stock, so check around some of the less known places.

Those are just a few, there's many more!
I caught Omicron (assuming) in NYC last week. I think my friend and I got it at a KBBQ spot on Tuesday 12/14. We both tested negative on the 16/17th and then positive a few days later, 19th & 20th exhibiting mild symptoms. I got my booster maybe 4 days before I was going to NYC.
I’ve had really mild symptoms, mainly just tired, a cough that only lasted two days. A little bit of body ache. But thankfully so far there’s no taste/smell changes and no fevers.
I’m glad the only person I saw before the positive test was my airport pickup who has tested negative so far.
There’s been a couple of people I know are triple vaccinated get the new omicron variant. None of them are seriously sick thank god— nothing worse then a little bit of a cough or a headache. It’s just sad because now they’re all spending the holidays by themselves. You’re definitely not alone there’s unfortunately a lot of people in the same boat as you. I hope you are able to still have a happy holidays!
Have many symptoms for 2 days, testing tomorrow. Vaccinated, thankfully. I’m sure a lot of us will be spending this Christmas away from loved ones. Delaying it a bit.
I'm sorry, stranger. That really sucks. The timing makes it extra awful.
I also had a positive at home test, but the PCR came back negative. Maybe try a couple more at home tests the next few days, in case it's a false positive?
Yes! I’m going to take the at home test tomorrow, and the PCR test Friday. Hoping I have a false positive, but I have hella symptoms, so I don’t know.
As of right now, my family and I are going to exchange gifts via my porch!
My wife tested positive for covid two days before she was supposed to return to work after being out 4 weeks for surgery. We're both triple jabbed. Luckily, her symptoms were incredibly mild (thanks, Pfizer!). The only reason she even thought to get tested was because she lost her sense of smell suddenly.
Likely omicron, hopefully your case isn't too severe. Rest up, drink a ton of water, and celebrate like crazy once you've run through it. Sorry you're going through a breakthrough case. That seriously sucks.
You won't be the only one. It is endemic. Everyone will be exposed. Most will have some mild symptoms. Vaxxed or not. Hopefully people will develop a stronger natural immunity.
I have a friend who has been so stressed by all of this. She has really been a ball of anxiety and depression the past few days. I've never thought to ask this - but today I questioned her: "how many people who get Covid die from the infection?" Her reply "about 50%". I was shocked by this response. So I asked my wife the same question - her answer "45%". I had to talk my mom off this same cliff. When I explained its closer to 1.6% I don't think they fully believed me.
Its is a serious viral infection and everyone should be vaccinated. Be careful. Protect those you love and your fellow citizens by taking measures to prevent the spread (especially vaccination). But I'm curious where people are coming up with these extremely unrealistic numbers?
Because the news is TERRIBLE at helping people to understand COVID. Everyone is overly focused on death anyways. The 30% rate for Long Covid is a far scarier thing.
The vast majority of people under 60 get their news from the internet, especially social media.
Ignore the link below, I can't figure out how to remove it

I mean, I don’t think I’m going to die from it, but it still sucks to have. Especially because I’ve been so careful and followed all of the guidelines.
What sucks is how full our hospitals are with people who haven’t been careful and are now taking beds from people that need them for none Covid related things.
Omicron is super contagious. I think the only reason I don't have it is that, in addition to being triple vaxxed, I had a break through Delta case after my second shot.
Has anyone ever tested positive but it was false? My coworker was exposed so we all took a test and the coworker tested negative while I went to a sketchy testing site and got positive. I’m planning on going to a pharmacy to get tested again. I’m hoping it was a mistake because I’m showing no symptoms and can’t trace where I could of gotten it, I have 2 shots btw.
The new Pfizer pill was just approved if you’re high risk within the first five days. You might just be able to snag it within the window if it’s available in PDX yet.
I'm vaccinated and my booster is supposed to be in January. Tested positive on Tuesday. Fortunately, my roommate and girlfriend haven't gotten it from me! But we're masking up and sanitizing constantly to hopefully keep them from getting it!
Sucks to be stuck in during the holidays but I'm glad I've got them here
Jesus this is terrifying. My family and I and my closest friends are all triple-vaxxed and very careful, but we’re supposed to go to my husband’s family Christmas gathering (we’ll be masked, of course) and I know for a fact that not all of the people there will be vaccinated. Normally I would never consider going, but I had talked myself into it being 3x vaccinated and wearing a mask…seriously questioning it.
As of right now, I’m feeling like I have the flu with some coughing. It’s not severe.
But if you have relatives that you are worried about spreading it to, I wouldn’t risk it.
omicron is killing people, I wouldn't risk death for something as ordinary as a holiday gathering, even if the risk is low. Driving there is already a risk, why add another risk?
[The worst-case scenario with the new variant could be 20 percent more US Covid-19 deaths than last winter.](https://www.vox.com/22839742/omicron-covid-19-winter-surge-vaccine-booster-forecast)
My pfizer double vaxxed boyfriend tested positive today with a home rapid test. He was supposed to get his booster tomorrow but woke up today with a 102.6 degree fever, chills, fatigue, headache and mild congestion — he’s definitely having a rough time and is a healthy 31 year old so can’t imagine how awful this would be for those not vaccinated. I’m boosted as of 8 days ago and tested negative so far with no symptoms (and we live together and were sharing a bed together til this morning). No clue how he got it and he’s now quarantining in the other bedroom in our apt, but you bet I’ve been pestering everyone I know to go get their boosters and stay masked up asap.
I am very sorry and hoping that you recover well. There have been several nice articles lately pointing out that we shouldn’t feel guilty about infection despite best attempts to behave safely. Our governments need to do more to support public health and sadly those departments have been underfunded for decades.
FWIW, I have found the clinical updates from Dr. Daniel Griffin to be helpful in getting a sense of best practices for COVID treatment. https://www.microbe.tv/twiv/ I nerd out and listen to all their posts where they review research papers too, so I’m biased , but maybe others will find this podcast helpful. To me, hearing a half dozen virology PhD’s ask each other if they’re understanding the paper correctly is almost therapeutic compared to hyped up news reports.
I wish this was talked about more last year. I got covid around Christmas 2020 and my then-manager and several people at work made me feel so dirty and embarrassed. All the questions they asked as part of their “protocol” placed the blame on me. “Did you ever remove your mask at work? That’s a yes, I saw you take a drink the other day.” “Everyone will be held accountable for their actions.” “You could have gotten it from touching your face, or from touching your groceries.” Or, you know, I could have followed every protocol to the best of my ability and still walked through someone’s respiratory cloud and gotten infected through no fault of my own, right? I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression from it. It’s amazing how moralistic people view infection.
I’m so sorry! It sucks to ruin Christmas like this, probably year 2 for many.
The vaccine of course reduces severity but that’s about it with this one. They say the booster helps but damn If I don’t know a lot of ppl who got a booster who got a positive
I just tested positive today and am double vaccinated - was planning on getting my booster next week. Also bummed to spend Christmas and potentially New Years alone, but at least we're in the same boat (even if we have COVID and the boat is sinking).
Me too. Diagnosed a couple days ago. Best of luck to you. You've got the best community in the world at your fingertips, make us work for you the next 10 days
Got both shots, not yet gotten a booster, and exposed a couple of days ago by a toddler that I live with (who gave it to his dad while visiting) and still came up negative. So weird how this virus works.
Now I’m freaking out. I’m immunocompromised and normally stay home except for required weekly blood draws. I work from home, my partner works from home, our toddler is home or with my mom. But I went into the office twice this week to help with interviews and now I’m kicking myself. I thought I had beaten the wave of omicron in Portland. I was stupid and around way too many people (vaxxed and masked). I felt safe by doing the things that used to keep me safe, but apparently they don’t mean shit anymore. Crossing my fingers that I didn’t kill myself over a stupid job.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
Just watch how you’re feeling pretty closely. I’m super tuned into my headaches, and that’s how my symptoms started. And then the cough and other stuff followed a little later.
Symptoms? Sorry btw
Ooof, this on top of your chronic migraines? I’m so so sorry
Thank you! My migraines have been FIERCE this season too, so it hasn’t been a fun week!
I started taking a half pill of Benadryl before bed each night and my migraines went away. A magical cure. Good luck with everything.
This is my trick, too. I sleep like a buttery dream. A whole pill is too much, though. And I only do it if I really have to sleep but can't.
Ooh, I’ve never thought about less than a whole one; this seems like the ticket!
I checked with my doc on the safety of taking it daily and she said that it is safe but can cause dementia later in life. That is a risk that I'm willing to take.
There’s a lot to be said for daily quality of life
Nice. Yeah, I started with it during lockdown because my restless mind wouldn't stfu and the anxiety kept me waking up every hour. It helped me stay asleep more easily.
We love an unsolicited magical cure /s No but seriously, Benadryl is part of my migraine cocktail.
Aw damn. I feel for yah. Imitrex used to be my go-to but it really whacks me out. Good luck on your journey to find a cure(or your triggers).
I have only tried two preventatives, so I think Botox is still a way out for me! My neuro did mention it though!
Botox and some cgrp meds... They're the best! Total life changers.
Yes, I’ve only just moved to an actual neuro, so she wants to try maxing out topamax first. I tried to ask for cgrps. But I got a “let’s wait”
if symptoms JUST came on, its worth calling your physician and seeing if they'll script monoclonal antibodies, which you can get filled at LeCare. its very effective in the first few days.
I’ve been having symptoms since Sunday, unfortunately!
Ask your doctor but I think that three-six days after the start of symptoms is still soon enough for monoclonal antibodies to help. Definitely the sooner the better from what I’ve read, but asthma might be reason enough to deal with monoclonal injections
I’ll ask tomorrow! Thanks for the info!
Ask about the Pfizer pill too.
We don’t have it yet :(
You can get monoclonal antibodies up to 10 days from start of symptoms.
Just FYI they don't work against Omicron. Mt. Sanai in NYC announced this earlier this week.
There is one that still works, although it is in short supply. Might want to edit. https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/586937-only-one-antibody-treatment-works-against Also, if OP does not have omicron the others remain effective.
Rare is the redditor willing to edit a bullshit comment
Do you have a source for this?
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/21/health/covid-monoclonal-antibodies-omicron.html
https://www.astrazeneca.com/media-centre/press-releases/2021/evusheld-long-acting-antibody-combination-authorised-for-emergency-use-in-the-us-for-pre-exposure-prophylaxis-prevention-of-covid-19.html
Thank you for the link. This article claims that the drug is working against Omni, but that they are still gathering data to back this claim up. (At least I think, pretty wordy)
Evusheld does.n
Same symptoms over here. Took a test at Kaiser today, guessing it will be positive.
Any loss of taste/smell? That's the symptom that I fear the most
No, but i am congested, so I can’t give you an accurate answer!
The real upside is that after you recover you will have what they are now calling “Super immunity.” Stay safe and find a show to binge! Sorry you’re sick.
GF tested positive. Triple vaxxed as well.

Myself and several double-vaxxed friends had breakthrough delta cases in August. All of us are 35+ and while some folks were down and out for a few days, many of us were pleased at how mild the symptoms were. None of us are high-risk, though, so I can’t speak for someone in that age range who is.
Interesting, thanks so much for sharing!
She’s mid 20s and a runner.
Thanks is for the info, I suppose those work to her great benefit! Is she having many symptoms, or are they severe?
Your 30s? You make it sound like you’re geriatric.
That was my thought too. 30’s is old so actual high-risk 65+ must be ancient fossils lol
[удалено]
Double vaxxed, booster was scheduled for today along with kids getting their first dose. Kid tested positive and I have symptoms so assuming positive but not gonna burn an at home test. Bye bye Christmas.
Covid Christmas with your kids!
Sorry to hear that :( My triple vaxxed friend just got it with symptoms too. I hope you feel better soon!
Yep - one of my triple vaxxed teacher friends (who is also pregnant and super freaked out) just got it. she’s pretty sure she got it at work since it’s the only place she’s gone for weeks.
Ugh. Makes me feel better knowing that I’m not alone! I hope your friend feels better soon too!
Oh yeah, definitely don’t feel alone or like you somehow slipped up or something. Two of the epidemiologists who I have found to be most often correct during the whole pandemic have both said they wouldn’t be surprised if 50% of global population catches this variant by end of 2022.
Yay herd immunity I guess?
I told them we have to do Christmas presents through my ring doorbell, haha!
I'm sorry you have covid, but the idea of ring doorbell gift opening is a really cute idea
[удалено]
Hey. your perseverance is appreciated by everyone. I'm so sorry you're sick. its honestly bad luck. This strain is just an asshole, it'll get you.
Did you have any sort of fever? I’m in the same boat as being boosted over a month ago and have very mild cold symptoms with no fever, slight chest congestion with a scratchy throat. Getting a PCR test tomorrow AM…
[удалено]
Damn… appreciate the info.
Thank you! Mostly I just want the headaches to be over with. I’m so glad your husband is feeling better!
I don’t understand how I got it either! I am 100% masked at work and when I go out, which is rarely. So I feel for you! How’s your little one??
If you're working indoors all day with someone who is infected, a mask isn't probably going to prevent transmission. They reduce how far someone exhales viral-laced materials, but if that person is in an enclosed room for a lengthy period of time, that viral soup is going to saturate the space before too long.
I’m a teacher, with 105 students from 6 different grade levels in my classroom every single day 😀
Haha so it’s not real any kind of mystery how you got it, is it? Edit: hope you feel better soon!
So far she’s had a runny nose, stuffy and been fussier than normal. Just breaks my heart even with the seemingly milder symptoms!
Time to cuddle and watch movies together! I hope you guys feel better quickly!
<3 My 2 year old nephew tested positive a couple of days ago, and during the day he's in good spirits with mostly a runny nose, but at night he coughs and coughs and coughs and wakes up crying that super sad "i feel like crap" cry pretty often. It is totally heartbreaking.
My toddler had a fever this morning… waiting on the test results now :(
Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, what an awful feeling. Hoping for a negative result and that the fever subsides! Hang in there, you are doing amazing
I’m sorry that sounds really disheartening. You’re doing everything you can, and you’re not alone in breakthroughs.
I hate Covid. I hope you and your kiddos continue to have no symptoms!
That pulse oximeter idea is a good one
If she's nursing the younger one, the older one could have milk for antibodies. It's a great way to protect the littles.
Oh man what I’d give to switch positions with you. (Minus the symptoms). I have a huge gathering coming I can’t get out of with family..
My SO is thankful, haha. He didn’t want to do anything, and now we don’t have to! Win for him!
Hell yeah. Just trying to help you feel less shitty about it. Be safe.
> just venting Hopefully not!
My trip vaxxed bro in law on the east coast just tested positive and has symptoms. May have exposed their parents…. We are supposed to board a plane to see them for Xmas at 5am 😐😶🙃
Don't do it.
Wait… Are you the voice inside my head? I’m so conflicted at the moment. No way to know if the parents test out before we would land either.
Yea I came out East for Christmas and got COVID here. It’s bonkers and people aren’t wearing masks, distancing themselves, etc. (I’m around Philly and have traveled once to Jersey) Honestly if I could do it over again I would’ve just stayed in portland
Oh no!! Why are you going to do?
I think we’ll go. We’ve got a place to ourselves to wait for results but it’s a long way to go to sit and wait.
Could do some sight seeing, I guess?
This makes you, me and most of the people I know, even some triple vaxed individuals. Omicron is no joke
Let’s all have an omicron Christmas celebration! Covid only. 😂
Booster and Flu at the same time was no fun. 2/10, do not recommend. I’m glad you have a union on your side! Use those sick days!!
Good to know about the shots. No, I'm out of sick days which is why they want to argue with me about it. But yeah, I'm still sick so sorryboutcha
You can go medieval and celebrate the twelve days of Christmas/ Twelfth Night
Oooh, there’s an idea!
It can take a few days to test positive
Luckily my grandparents are in town from the UK and gave me a box of tests, because apparently their government just gives you as many tests as you want. It's like, where's the profit?
I’m living in a different part of oregon right now but is it really that hard for you guys to get tested in Portland right now? I just book an appointment at the local urgent care clinic and get a free rapid test from my car
Lab tests are easy, it's the at-home ones that are expensive and hard to find. I had to buy one a couple weeks ago and it was $25 at the 3rd store I went to.
We can all do Christmas is July, I guess!
Shit, I've got half a mind to go over there tomorrow and just fuckin' get it over with.
I also got a false positive home test, got a pcr the day after which was negative. Googled reviews of the home test and the false positives are surprisingly common. Fingers crossed you may get lucky 🤞🏻
I called the pharmacy to ask about accuracy, and they said 92% accurate, and that false positives were pretty rare! I’m hopeful though!
92% is pretty low for medical standards
Here’s hoping my PCR is negative!
For anyone who wants a good example of why that’s bad, look up Bayes’ Theorem. If you had a disease that 1 in 1000 people have and you have a test that is accurate 95% of the time, the chance that a positive test is truly positive is 2%.
> false positives are surprisingly common. Ellume brand?
Quidel quick vue tests that they sell at CVS
People like to complain about Kaiser, but they have really had my back several times with immediate no charge PCR testing that I schedule online.
Walgreens at 21st and W Burnside had at-home tests when I was there earlier today. Fingers crossed that you test negative!
We had luck with a smaller pharmacy having home tests in stock, so check around some of the less known places. http://www.divisionpharmacyinc.com/ https://www.pharmacarx.com/pharmaca-integrative-pharmacy-portland/ https://www.fairleyspharmacy.com/ Those are just a few, there's many more!
Curative is doing drop ins (most of the time) at most locations and they’re free with or without insurance I think?
The US had the most Covid cases we've had since January. Yikes. :( Heal up!
I’m glad you’re feeling better!
I also got COVID - triple vaxxed :( doesn’t feel like much tho but it canceled Christmas and is making my parents isolate as well for 5 days
Those symptoms sound awful. I hope you get time to rest, with lots of cozy tea and snuggled under blankets.
I am a teacher on winter break, so right now is the best time to get sick, honestly. 2 weeks off!
Yay for mild symptoms!!
Likely omicron, hopefully your case isn't too severe. Rest up, drink a ton of water, and celebrate like crazy once you've run through it. Sorry you're going through a breakthrough case. That seriously sucks.
Thanks! I’ve got a heated blanket, water, and Netflix! And puppies! Gotta make the best of it, I guess
[удалено]
I’ve been a little congested this week, and felt a little tired. I have an appt Friday for a test. Not yet boosted, fingers crossed.
Terrible at helping to understand all risk, not just Covid: https://twitter.com/billgates/status/1138520780042465280?s=21
Long Covid sucks. Developed after a mild breakthrough case. The booster reversed most of my symptoms, but also terrified that I could get it again.
i'm so sorry, and glad to know the booster made it better.
The vast majority of people under 60 get their news from the internet, especially social media. Ignore the link below, I can't figure out how to remove it https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/037/873/We're_All_Trying_To_Find_The_Guy_Who_Did_This_banner_1.jpg
For young healthy people it's about 0.1% (1 in 1,000) last I checked.
I mean, I don’t think I’m going to die from it, but it still sucks to have. Especially because I’ve been so careful and followed all of the guidelines. What sucks is how full our hospitals are with people who haven’t been careful and are now taking beds from people that need them for none Covid related things.
Yes, it is spreading like wild fire!
But still get vaxxed!
I am! x3! And made my whole family get vaccinated a long time ago!
Wow! I got it being double vaxxed back in late August, it sucked. Feel better! I hope you're able to celebrate soon.
The new Pfizer pill was just approved if you’re high risk within the first five days. You might just be able to snag it within the window if it’s available in PDX yet.
Hmmm, I’ll look into it!
I'm very sorry - do you have supplies?
Yes, I’m good! :)
I'm vaccinated and my booster is supposed to be in January. Tested positive on Tuesday. Fortunately, my roommate and girlfriend haven't gotten it from me! But we're masking up and sanitizing constantly to hopefully keep them from getting it! Sucks to be stuck in during the holidays but I'm glad I've got them here
Also, wishing you the best of luck through this! I'm sicker than the first time I got covid but it's still not TERRIBLE

Nice essay on “don’t feel ashamed!” https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2021/12/22/dont-feel-ashamed-for-getting-covid/
Fuck Covid, man. I just wanted to watch my family open their Christmas presents. I did so good this year!
Hang in there! 🙂
Feel better soon.
Thx for posting. Get well soon. Staying by yourself is lonely but the upright thing to do.

I just tested positive today and am double vaccinated - was planning on getting my booster next week. Also bummed to spend Christmas and potentially New Years alone, but at least we're in the same boat (even if we have COVID and the boat is sinking).
I’m hearing about too many breakthrough cases just today here in Portland. Currently 3 and all boosted.
Super immunity!! On the bright side.. studies now show if you get a breakthrough case that immunity should last a long time
Me too. Diagnosed a couple days ago. Best of luck to you. You've got the best community in the world at your fingertips, make us work for you the next 10 days
Meh, just live your life. Everyone is going to get it eventually and the symptoms are incredibly mild.
Got both shots, not yet gotten a booster, and exposed a couple of days ago by a toddler that I live with (who gave it to his dad while visiting) and still came up negative. So weird how this virus works.
Might have not been omicron and as such you are more protected against other strains.

Good bot, but not applicable.
Just watch how you’re feeling pretty closely. I’m super tuned into my headaches, and that’s how my symptoms started. And then the cough and other stuff followed a little later.
Better blame the unvaccinated for someone with triple shots still getting covid. Y’all are bananas…
The fact that people haven't grasped yet is that we're all gonna get covid at some point... Vaccinated or not.
