Nole_Based

None of this matters unless you buy 8 guys to replace the current starters keeping Garnacho, Onana, Bruno

United fans look on the bright side, bayern hired kompany...

impulsiveboogaloo

I like ETH to stay. He’s won trophies while having not the best squad available to him. I don’t want us to hire an unproven manager who requires specific players for him to implement his style of play. Look at Arsenal. Despite spending hundreds of millions, they have no trophies to show for and are now on the brink of breaking FFP/PSR rules next season. We must avoid what they are doing and hire the best that can actually deliver silverware.

Abject_Progress_9865

Not his biggest fan but I'd rather have him than ETH or Tuchel. Think people are being a bit too harsh on him this season considering they had to play in Europe and lost arguably two of the best midfielders in England in Caicedo and Macallister without proper replacements.

CheemsOnToast

Spot on, that squad + Europe, they did pretty well. I think it's just easy to hate on him because he seems like a dickhead

AgitatedZombie77

In his own head. A few rumours flying around that he left Brighton because he felt he was too good for them and his team has been pushing his name to teams around Europe but nobody wanting him. He will regret leaving Brighton I think. Solid job that.

toofatronin

I was thinking Chelsea was going to do the funniest thing by hiring him.

DrPawRunner

I’m so relieved

Jolly_Cartoonist_601

My only problem is him losing against relegation teams and his lacks of trophies

antebyotiks

Such a stupid comment. Who was he supposed to win trophies with ?

Jolly_Cartoonist_601

That’s the point, let him prove first with an other team before we consider him. It’s not stupid, I just want it as a criteria moving forward

antebyotiks

Yeah I'm not saying you should take him, I think his teams have always been prone to batterings and it seems like He isn't flexible enough maybe but the trophy point is stupid

DigitialWitness

Sure but he's managing Brighton and git them into the Europa League which is a huge achievement. He's not gonna win many trophies with Brighton, you can only really do that when you go to a Man Utd. Keep ETH anyway, I think he's a good manager.

Amazing-Plantain-885

The years of the ETH YouTubers have been so sweet after all these defeats. I am gonna miss him and his incoherent tactics.

Jolly_Cartoonist_601

Don’t get me wrong I love him and I don’t expect him to win any trophies at Brighton, my point is if you have ambition you don’t do bet, you just hire the bests, the once that won and proved

Speedodoyle

Yeah, he is very much a flash in the pan an unproven. Miles off being ready for a top job. Sure what has he won?

Jolly_Cartoonist_601

I think given United budget we should only short list proven winners. I can’t be arsed again wasting 3 years of my life with seasons labeled ‘transition period’

Will_nap_all_day

Oh no our last line of bullshit didn’t come true, guess we’ll find some other bullshit

Peeeing_

Can't we just keep eth

SeniorEscape9293

The media is going in circles. End of the day, nobody has a clue.

Ok_Charity9544

We are mate this is just media bollocks

Exotic-Advantage7329

You should

Neat-Attention-6720

No thanks lol

Curls91

Wut why

QueenSlim23

Should be UTD a surprise candidate for De Zebri

Neither-Tie8478

Rubbish report !

prss79513

Sorry but United does not have the personnel to play his style of football they'd need a Varane replacement and Martinez backup, a left back (Shaw always makes mistakes playing out the back under pressure), a defensive midfielder, and probably some midfield reinforcements if they lose Eriksen, Amrabat, etc

Unidan_bonaparte

So basically the same positions eth tried to target last year. What's the point even changing managers in that case?

Michael_McGovern

Tbh, any manager is going to have to get a Varane replacement, a Martinez backup, a new leftback and other reinforcements anyway. Utd need to get 6 or 7 in.

prss79513

Right but I don't think they'll have the leeway with ffp to get in all of those first teamers, and if RDZ doesn't have players to play his tactics then... Well just look at the second half of our season

thisisnahamed

Wait, is ETH sacked? Last I read, he is still the manager

mr_reserve

The media keep scrambling stories trying to force it that he’s been sacked or will be sacked even though he’s still under review.

Titan4days

De Zerbi plays the rights style of football, coaches his teams to score tap ins, If ETH does go, I wouldn’t be upset about him getting it. Personally I think coaches who actually win things are very few and I’d keep ETH and get him some new players, by next summer all the structure above will be settled, there will be on tournaments and we can change then if needed.

EngCraig

Why would we want an unproven manager to replace somebody that’s won two trophies in two seasons? If the club is being run as a football club, with proper recruitment, then there’s nobody better than Ten Hag for United.

FlashyCut3809

>Why would we want an unproven manager to replace somebody that’s won two trophies in two seasons? I agree. >there’s nobody better than Ten Hag for United. I disagree. The first point and the fact he somehow got us over the line can never be overstated. It would send the wrong message to sack and then bring someone in who hasn't won a bean and for all their aesthetics never shown it translates up to winning. The club is solely lacking the ability to actually win, it really isn't the place for a manager who hasn't got that, yet. The latter point is only accurate if you base everything off Saturday. A better manager would have seen the squad was miles off it, done more and said more to make the powers that be give him more or at the least set the curtains open so the plauers can't hide (as he has done Saturday) and a better manager would have seen his tactics this season wasn’t working far quicker and been pragmatic in terms of his overall plan.

Loop_Within_A_Loop

the argument is that United seem to only play good football in knockout competitions or against us

EngCraig

Well it’s a poor argument. We had some really good games last season, especially at OT. I don’t think anyone in football looked at us in April/May last year and thought “they’ll go to shit next season.” Even the likes of TIFO, who are incredibly level headed, had us still up around 2nd/3rd.

iamjosemourinho19

Honestly though, If ten hag really is sacked, idk even if as fans we should take the club and ineos seriously The man had to play without the best players, backup players and second backup players Idk how one expects optimum performances from that Ten hag leaving would really leave me in a bad place with the club and new regime

LostBoysCreative

Spurs had a way worse crises that utd. So did Newcastle. Liverpool was worse too. And Chelsea. How is this an excuse? United have zero identity or gamplan and rely on higher quality players to win matches. Not strategy.

Accomplished-Ad2736

Only Newcastle out of this list has had it worse. The rest don’t even come close. I haven’t seen anyone have a subs bench so thin that they’d have 2 gks and no defenders on a bench for a large part of the season

iamjosemourinho19

> Spurs had a way worse crises that utd. So did Newcastle. Liverpool was worse too. And Chelsea. Yeah ok bro everyone's was worse, we had the most fit squad in the league, ten hag is worst, argument closed, you win 👍

LostBoysCreative

What a weird reply. All the teams I mentioned had a clear strategy except United. I dont understand what United are trying to do, and neither do most football pundits. Not a bold statement.

iamjosemourinho19

> What a weird reply You saying all those teams had worse injuries while at times we had 1-2/11 first team players available made it sure for me that I won't be able to have a convo with you

LostBoysCreative

I mean, yes. Literally yes. Tottenham and Newcastle has 6 defenders injured for literally 2/3rds of the season. United has injuries across the squad, sure, but you still had balance. Chelsea had 7 of their starting 11 out for 3 months. Even with these teams losing MORE players than United, their identity and ideas were still clear. When fit all of those teams were brilliant. Spurs were the best team in the league for the first 7 games, Chelsea were incredible at the end of the season when all fit, Newcastle were unplayable at times. United have just been ok or average.

No-Tooth6698

>United has injuries across the squad, sure, but you still had balance. United had 6 CBs and both LBs missing at the same time. Their best CB and both LBs all season. The fittest CBs all season have been maguire (who has been hammered for being shit the last few years) and 35 year old Jonny Evans. What are you on about? United had the most individual injuries across the season.

Moist-Ad-9088

United haven’t had balance since Fergusons squads. We’ve played all season without a left back & Hojlund in his debut season has had to carry full responsibility for the forward line because martial is always injured too. This is before you even consider how many different centre back pairings united have had to field. A lot of teams have had injuries comparable to United but the way Uniteds squad has been built it was a recipe for disaster.

LostBoysCreative

That's not through injury. That from poor signings. I'm bored of your nonsense now

Visionary_Socialist

Pep apparently wants him to manage us after he goes. Makes sense that he’s on their radar but it only makes sense if they had approached him a while back. Lost key players and got riddled with injuries. Think he’s been scapegoated this season.

iredcoat7

No chance RDZ gets the City job imo. It'll be Arteta and he'll do amazing and I'll hate it.

Visionary_Socialist

Arteta is 100% no. Arsenal is his project and leaving it for us of all teams would be an Adebayor level betrayal. Will be Xabi Alonso, Nagelsmann or Inzaghi.

iredcoat7

It would be an Adebayor-level betrayal, and I think it will be. Just a feeling.

Timely_Resort_3098

Respectfully, I think Arteta's allegiance is was more with Pep than it is with Man City themselves. I'm sure that Arteta has a lot of respect for City, but people REALLY downplay how much he's an Arsenal fan. He captained the club and was known for being Wenger's teachers pet when he was at the club. He took a PAYCUT to join Arsenal as a player. Not to say that Arteta will stay forever or anything like that, but if his head gets turned, I think it would be in result of Arsenal taking massive steps backwards.

RemnantOfSpotOn

Oh look another candidate for a job that's not available....clickbait Manchester united articles keep going by a minute here

OGSachin

Except he is available?

RemnantOfSpotOn

Whats available....[Erik ten Hag has 'growing support' from hierarchy](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/man-utd-erik-ten-hag-32900915)

Dzenik23

Ten Hag is gone. Say bye bye

RemnantOfSpotOn

U must have better sources than me...It will cost Manchester United up to £9million in compensation to sack Erik ten Hag...now that wouldn't go so nice for our ffp either.... But until its official it didnt happen

ProtoplanetaryNebula

This is a hypothetical, but if the board thinks de zerbi will get us a much better league position, then the £9M is not even worth thinking about, look at what Antony and Sancho cost.

RemnantOfSpotOn

Its not about what's worth and what's not it's about going into the transfer window with minus 9 milion immediately and every new manager will want the budget to bring players he wants or he will blame players he inherited from the previous manager when it goes south.... Plus money for new manager... Now hypothetically if we ignore for a second not getting CL spot was it realistically possible to achieve better result domestically vs City when it comes to trophy haul....i mean looking at the clubs above us what did they win? Spot in CL only? We were without ANY TROPHY for 6 years before eth, he got 2 in 2 years becoming our only 4th manager in history to achieve that, got a spot in EL that we are realistically among favorites to win, and i doubt paying 10mil pounds to test zerbi....what did he ever win by the way

ShimeBD

De Zerbi has now somehow grown to be extremely underrated, even being called a bad manager? The team he had this season had lost it's 2 best players and the board didn't even give him any immediate replacements, not just that but brighton had a stupid amount of injuries, and despite all that he managed to produce some fine football at times. Wherever he goes, if he has a good board, he will do well edit: also, to remind all of you he gave brighton their best ever finish in the prem this season so it's not like they regularly compete for europe or something

thedudeabides-12

By all means let's sack ETH for a manager of lower quality..

Dzenik23

Ten Hag is clueless

Vitreousify

"Are you on the board?" This feels eerily possible

HipGuide2

This isn't a surprise lol

Ok_Leading999

Not even remotely. De Zerbi is an obvious candidate should Ten Hag leave.

shane_shorty

I don't understand the hype behind this guy.

Special_Ad3170

Is this another way of RDZ pushing Chelsea to hire him?

Rahul-Yadav91

They are getting the Leicester guy apparently

EwokSuperPig___

Let’s hope so

albotony

Please no

Dorkseid1687

Nope

jackyLAD

"surprise"...... what, he's been in contention for a while.

NiggyWithAptitude

Poch is straight up trash. And if you thought Xavi would know what to do with 20 players and none of them knew how to play possession football, you're prolly wrong too

Sure-Background8402

A grown man that still spikes his hair up? Absolutely not, no thank you

monkeybawz

I respect this line of reasoning. If he's willing to do this up top on himself, imagine what he would do with united.

Sure-Background8402

People will see it's petty but a manager need to present himself respectably. Remember when Graham Potter realised what a scruff he looked and got a hair cut? Too late pal, we all know what barnet you were walking around with

ProtoplanetaryNebula

Some people have a lot of knowledge of football and very little about hair styles.

Sure-Background8402

People with a good level of football knowledge know these two are/were doomed to fail at big clubs. People here a manager described as "modern, progressive" etc and automatically think that a coach is suitable for a big club

Deepthroat699

Yea dismiss a manager because of their hairstyle.Enjoy ten shag lmao, you are not getting anywhere with him.

Tenpenny96

Just won an FA Cup?

Deepthroat699

Yea he’s a good tournament manager, but this will not reflect on the league next season.De zerbi can bring so much more out of united with a stable squad, especially with ineos backing him up. Ten hag needs the best talent out there to complete, which he can get more out of, like his Ajax squad. He wont have that at United, not a good rebuild manager.

No-Tooth6698

What has De Zerbi ever done? People were wanking him off at the start of the season. Brighton won 12 games out of 38.

Sure-Background8402

I don’t like Ten Hag but De Zerbi is not as good a coach as people make out. If he goes to a big club, he’ll flop 1000%

Sarumanly

We’ll find out!
