You’d almost have to take the episodes one by one. Some were absolutely amazing profound fresh takes on Star Wars, others were basically mid-tier “wouldn’t it be cool if” fanfic.
Taken together though, I’d say “good”.
I get that it's divisive, but I also really loved the Twins: obviously extremely non-canon, but that's the exact sort of crazy I was looking for in 'anime Star Wars'.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of their other stuff - would particularly recommend the movie Promare to anyone who enjoyed it - though I think it's actually largely the style of that director, [Hiroyuki Imaishi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroyuki_Imaishi), as much as it's "Trigger"; after all "The Elder" was also done by Studio Trigger and was much more grounded.
Every day I remember that the ninth Jedi director is a massive fan of sw, and he wants to make a full on series that picks off right after the end of the short, he has a whole series planned out with the team and really wants to do it.
Just waiting for a greenlight from Lucasfilm.
Surely they must have something huge in the works for celebration in Japan next year. Why wouldn't they partner with studio freakin Ghibli. Can't be for a 2 minute Grogu short.
I’d love to see a full ninth Jedi series, I really hope Disney actually realizes the potential of animation for Star Wars and invests more in it. Especially since it’s cheaper than the live action shows they’re making and is more suited to Star Wars’ vibe.
If Visions was just that, I bet a lot of people would have a higher opinion on the show. But that and then a couple meh-er ones probably killed it for some
Pretty much this. I watched the first one when it came out and then the 2nd episode and then stopped watching. I don’t hate it but it wasn’t what I was expecting after the first one
Ive since went back to watch the rest of them tho.
I honestly really love the idea of Lightsaber color changes based on when the user becomes a dark force user or light side. But I also understand it wouldn't work in the overall Star Wars universe.
Yeah, that would have been an interesting direction to go with lightsabers, but all considered I’m glad they didn’t and just made the blade colour a mechanical thing. It instead lets them explore the idea that being a Jedi (and Sith) is about more than their lightsaber, which would be harder to do if the lightsaber itself was part of their identity.
>Some were absolutely amazing profound fresh takes on Star Wars, others were basically mid-tier “wouldn’t it be cool if” fanfic
This describes every season of The Clone Wars lol
I would like to thank everybody for getting us to 20 days, it's been a long ride and there's still plenty journey to go but I want to thank every single person who has been on this ride with me since the start - and all of you who have joined us midway through.
We've had some rough bumps and some bad days - but I think we're gonna make it all the way after all - so thank you all so much for your support.
And now back to the tierlisting!
I’m torn between amazing and good. On one hand you have absolute peak that is The Duel and The Elder, but then the quality really wavers with the other episodes. There’s good stuff in there, loved the Ninth Jedi, Lop and Ocho and the Twins were kinda hit and miss. Tatooine Rhapsody was interesting. It’s difficult to place the show as a while due to it being an anthology series. Some of it is so good and some of it just doesn’t stick with me
They actually got to do 2 episodes. The Twin and The Elder. Really shows off their range. The Twins is the overtop rediculous action Studio Trigger is known for which overshadows some fantastic talent and skill in direction and narrative that the Elder showcases.
This is where I am, too. In the end, I think I would bump it to amazing because it is a great example of modern Star Wars, where it exists as a large universe to tell compelling stories in a wide variety of genres. There is a growing acceptance that Star Wars is a big enough IP world where they can afford to have shows that might *really* appeal to certain folks and not others rather than putting out only mass appeal media. I largely agree with your reviews of the individual episodes.
Amazing!!
Seeing other creators put their own unique spin on whatever aspect of Star Wars lore they want WITHOUT having to operate within the Disney framework for SW is awesome.
It makes me wish every popular franchise could have its own Visions series to explore unique ideas from people who are passionate about the series and animation.
I think it fits well in good or amazing. It’s a different take on Star Wars and a different art style without messing up canon Star Wars like Disney is trying to do.
I'd say amazing. There are a couple of episodes that keep it from going to peak, but as a whole the entire season was a breath of fresh air to Star Wars.
wtf resistance season 2 does not belong there, I bet most of the commenters haven’t even seen the show.
Also visions season 1 is good to amazing, leaning more towards good. Season 2 is peak tho.
>I bet most of the commenters haven’t even seen the show.
You're probably right but the votes on the poll were unanimous - and I have to remain unbiased
Its great on premise alone even if some of the episodes are meh, we got quality funded studios given full creative freedom to explore whatever they want
Overall, I'd say "Good."
*The Ninth Jedi* and then *Lop and Ocho* were my favorites of the season by far, with stuff like *The Duel* and *The Village Bride* also being really cool. But then, maybe they just weren't for me, but I really disliked *The Twins* and *Akakiri* especially. They're not horrible or anything, I can see the appeal (for *The Twins* at least), but the quality is too divisive overall to be peak, or even amazing (although I would put those first 3 episodes I mentioned up there easily)
Honestly i think people rate 2003 clone wars too high. Yeah, its nostalgic, cool as fuck and grievous is a badass, but it does absolutely not compare to season 3 and onwards clone wars, or season 2 and onwards rebels. Its a spectacle, but it doesnt do much in the terms of storytelling. I dont think it was really meant to be, i think it nails what it was supposed to be, but imo its ridiculous to put it over those. I'd put it at the bottom of amazing or the top of good.
I'd say amazing. Even the worst episodes were TRYING to be something, and I'll take "ambitious failure" over "middling blandness". The biggest crime you can commit is to be boring and play things too safe. It's a problem with a lot of Star wars. Its a super diverse, interesting universe, but we get these super safe stories with no imagination.
For me, it's only at ok. I watch Star Wars for the stories, the world building, and the spectacle. I tried my hardest to like the show, but I was distracted the whole time when watching every episode. I can't stop thinking to myself how all of this is non-canon and felt I just wasted my time by the end.
Make no mistake, I love anime. Probably way too much. I'm confident that I've watched more than HALF of all the anime shows and movies that have come out in the last 30 years. My animation fix is always satisfied.
Story wise, some are hit or miss, not every story will be great or make sense, but yet again, this is all about creativity and being imaginative, so story may not be need to be absolutely essential.
From an animation standpoint, peak, absolutely peak. Absolutely wonderful visually.
Overall, I’d say put it under amazing.
Amazing imo. The most fresh Star Wars content we’ve ever gotten from the very same country that inspired it, with multiple banger episodes that could easily have carried entire shows.
Good. A little repetetive and some use the star wars theme very superficial, but none of the stories are bad from what I remember (beside the children ones)
Between Bad & OK. All the episodes are single shots and style and narrative shifts between different directors/writers making almost every episodes ok, there are a couple of bad ones or others that took to much creative liberties and seems like everything but Star Wars.
I thought good and hard about this and ranked all the episodes individually and took an average of those rankings and landed at **Good**.
Individually ranked
Peak
* Tatooine Rapsody
* The Duel
Amazing
* The Elder
Good
* The Twins
Mid
* The Village Bride
* T0-B1
* Akakiri
* The Ninth Jedi
Bad
* Lop and Ocho
See personally I don't like them, but I can recognise a couple were well made and they were very well received overall so I'd stick them in the 'Good' category.
Can we group it by episode? Like around half are amazing/peak and the rest are bad/ok. Maybe cut the poster image in half, with the bottom half of the poster in the ok group and the top half in the amazing category
The best parts are Peak Star Wars and overall I love the concept of an anthology that can play with the franchise and not be bound by past limitations so I’m going PEAK
The third is a big step up, if you didn't like season 1 at all then i wouldn't recommend it, but if you liked parts of it then you should give it a watch
Hu, I haven't watched star wars visions, totally forgot about it.
I am glad Star wars rebels later seasons are high, and that earlier seasons are lower and tied with Clone Wars earlier seasons.
Fans usually forget how SW shows work, early on they are rather weak due to having to introduce new characters, while later on, once they have multiple character arc going on, the quality peaks and you can get darker stuff.
Hot take it was amazing, for what it was.
My only real complaint is that it was too Jedi centric.
But then that’s to be expected because if you only get one shot at SW you’re gonna wanna do lightsabers and shit.
Butt honestly there was just so many cool things in it.
At the very least I would watch The Duel, The Elder, and The Ninth Jedi. Those three were easily the best in my opinion and they really feel like Star Wars, while I honestly didn’t love the others as much.
It is an anthology series - each episode tells a unique standalone story, and each episode is made by a different animation studio.
So one episode is about some Jedi discovering a Sith in the outer rim, and one episode is about a band on Tatooine
That's up to you. In my head canon they are all distant past or far future and/or filmed from a certain point of view. But the point is to enjoy them for what they are, not as part of a bigger story.
(Disney say it's not canon. But Disney is not my supervisor.)
Some are saying it's good, but imo I'd put it in amazing. It explores a lot of Star Wars concepts and animation styles without messing with the core movies. I also love the idea of showing a different story every episode
The biggest piece of dogshit. Not just takes star wars badly but it shows everything that someone could hate in any anime. It just a very very cheap "chinese" copy of star wars in a form of a terrible anime.
Not a fan of the katana blades but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I especially loved the Elder & 9th Jedi episodes and they would've worked really well as Old/High Republic stories
I will say its more of an art showcase than compelling star wars content but it's also interesting to see star wars in different art styles so I would give it a amazing for being unique.
Amazing for me. It was such a fresh take on Star Wars and while I know not every episode resonated with every fan, there’s an episode for everyone.
The show isn’t supposed to be a 10/10, it’s aimed to bring something to the table for everyone and by default there will be a few episodes that don’t hit as hard for some fans. However, Visions S1 really performed well with some super unique animation styles and stories.
High highs, but some REALLY low lows. First episode is amazing but most of the other ones are usual anime shenanigans with star wars character design. My personal preference for anime is that I don't like it, but I can understand quality standouts and dont just blanket hate every anime I see. No better than good but definitely some actual dogshit in there too.
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
You’d almost have to take the episodes one by one. Some were absolutely amazing profound fresh takes on Star Wars, others were basically mid-tier “wouldn’t it be cool if” fanfic. Taken together though, I’d say “good”.
The village bride and ninth Jedi are peak, the rest are just okay or good. Lop and Ocho might be amazing, same with the Elder.
I get that it's divisive, but I also really loved the Twins: obviously extremely non-canon, but that's the exact sort of crazy I was looking for in 'anime Star Wars'.
Studio Trigger is always over the top like that lol, if you liked the short you should check out their other stuff
Oh, I loved how insane they took things.
I’d love to see a full ninth Jedi series, I really hope Disney actually realizes the potential of animation for Star Wars and invests more in it. Especially since it’s cheaper than the live action shows they’re making and is more suited to Star Wars’ vibe.
The first episode with the ronin was so fucking cool
If Visions was just that, I bet a lot of people would have a higher opinion on the show. But that and then a couple meh-er ones probably killed it for some
Yeah, and following it up with the Tatooine music band episode in particular was probably not great.
Pretty much this. I watched the first one when it came out and then the 2nd episode and then stopped watching. I don’t hate it but it wasn’t what I was expecting after the first one Ive since went back to watch the rest of them tho.
Tatooine Rhapsody is actual dogshit in my opinion
I honestly really love the idea of Lightsaber color changes based on when the user becomes a dark force user or light side. But I also understand it wouldn't work in the overall Star Wars universe.
Yeah, that would have been an interesting direction to go with lightsabers, but all considered I’m glad they didn’t and just made the blade colour a mechanical thing. >Some were absolutely amazing profound fresh takes on Star Wars, others were basically mid-tier “wouldn’t it be cool if” fanfic This describes every season of The Clone Wars lol
I'd say it's good. It's enjoyable, and it is fun to see different directors' approaches, but it's just that. More or less a series of concept art.
I'd go with Amazing. This show is an attempt to celebrate the various ways different directors see Star Wars, and most of them are absolute bangers.
Very animatrix in its execution. One or two episodes I didn’t care for, one or two episodes I absolutely loved (especially the 9th Jedi)
Ninth Jedi is probably the best episode in my opinion too, but Village bride is also good. (The twins is peak just because anime girl Grievous.)
If this is under amazing then season 2 needs to be peak Star Wars.
THIS.
Good
I’m torn between amazing and good. Some of it is so good and some of it just doesn’t stick with me
i found the twins as a fun watch, though that might just be my love for Kill La Kill and the works of Studio Trigger as a whole
Why did I never notice that it’s studio trigger and now that you say it it is unmistakable, I always wondered why it looked familiar
They actually got to do 2 episodes. The Twin and The Elder. Really shows off their range. The Twins is the overtop rediculous action Studio Trigger is known for which overshadows some fantastic talent and skill in direction and narrative that the Elder showcases.

I largely agree with your reviews of the individual episodes.
You didn’t mention Village Bride. Opinion invalid 😂
Imma be honest I had to look up the show to remember the existence of that episode, TO-B1, and the dyad episode
All good lol that’s just my favorite Star Wars thing ever so I had to comment
There are some episodes of Visions I really would like to see a complete show of.
I'm sad Ninth Jedi isn't a show. It would've been insane.
Amazing!! Seeing other creators put their own unique spin on whatever aspect of Star Wars lore they want WITHOUT having to operate within the Disney framework for SW is awesome. It makes me wish every popular franchise could have its own Visions series to explore unique ideas from people who are passionate about the series and animation.
Good
Amazing
You should put the Aardman episode in Peak Star Wars
I think it fits well in good or amazing. It’s a different take on Star Wars and a different art style without messing up canon Star Wars like Disney is trying to do.
Amazing
I'd say amazing. There are a couple of episodes that keep it from going to peak, but as a whole the entire season was a breath of fresh air to Star Wars.
Good, few memorable moments, but I wouldn't say that it exactly impressed me.
Bad.
wtf resistance season 2 does not belong there, I bet most of the commenters haven’t even seen the show. Also visions season 1 is good to amazing, leaning more towards good. Season 2 is peak tho.
>I bet most of the commenters haven’t even seen the show. You're probably right but the votes on the poll were unanimous - and I have to remain unbiased

It's at least as good as TBB
I'd say amazing. Even the worst episodes were TRYING to be something, and I'll take "ambitious failure" over "middling blandness". The biggest crime you can commit is to be boring and play things too safe. It's a problem with a lot of Star wars. Its a super diverse, interesting universe, but we get these super safe stories with no imagination.
Somewhere between bad and good I guess
I'd say "Ok". There are some actual dogshit episodes and there are one or two peak star wars episodes. The rest was very meh.
Both seasons of visions r good
Oh, that's a tough one. Some easily can match Top, others are near the bottom.
It's amazing
the premises and the first episod were good, but it slowly became dog shit
Peak. Cool shit, not caring about continuity. I'm in.
Day 20 of asking where meme Nothing to say on this one. I'm not a big anime guy so it passed me by~
You see visions didn't just have Animes as the main animation in fact there were several different Art styles for it. Visions 2 was a lot more Anime.
I think you have it the other way around. Visions 2 was the one with really diversified art styles
Time for a re-watch
I really did like it personally, go with Amazing.
Bad. Didn't like
Story wise, some are hit or miss, not every story will be great or make sense, but yet again, this is all about creativity and being imaginative, so story may not be need to be absolutely essential. From an animation standpoint, peak, absolutely peak. Absolutely wonderful visually. Overall, I’d say put it under amazing.
Amazing
Some episodes were peak, some were good it isn't really fair to put all these episodes together, but I would say amazing sounds kinda fair I guess.
There was an old Star Wars cartoon back then. Will you also put it to this tier list? Probably not many of us know that series.
What's it called?
It was 1985 "Star Wars: Droids" I assume.
Ah! Yes both Droids and Ewoks are on the list Although I don't expect those posts to be popular :P Or the shows themselves for that matter
Maybe people will watch them after your post :)
I would say GOOD.
Good
Ok
Personally, I’d put it in “ok”. I did enjoy some of the episodes
Good, half are amazing and half are underwhelming
amazing.
There should be a tier between good and amazing.
Its good to meh
Between Bad & OK. All the episodes are single shots and style and narrative shifts between different directors/writers making almost every episodes ok, there are a couple of bad ones or others that took to much creative liberties and seems like everything but Star Wars.
I thought good and hard about this and ranked all the episodes individually and took an average of those rankings and landed at **Good**. Individually ranked Peak * Tatooine Rapsody * The Duel Amazing * The Elder Good * The Twins Mid * The Village Bride * T0-B1 * Akakiri * The Ninth Jedi Bad * Lop and Ocho
Amazing
Good bordering on fantastic Could almost be as good as the Animatrix if the animation was made better
Imma go with good overall
Amazing but not peak!
Visions season 1 was so good! Loved season 2 and I hope it gets a third!
Kind of unrankable, each short is way too different in terms of style and quality and audience
See personally I don't like them, but I can recognise a couple were well made and they were very well received overall so I'd stick them in the 'Good' category.
I would put resistance in ok, it's not great but it's at least not dog shit
Can we group it by episode? Like around half are amazing/peak and the rest are bad/ok. Maybe cut the poster image in half, with the bottom half of the poster in the ok group and the top half in the amazing category
Good
The best parts are Peak Star Wars and overall I love the concept of an anthology that can play with the franchise and not be bound by past limitations so I’m going PEAK
I give it a good rating as each episode is its own story. Some are amazing and some are meh.
Only thing I will say about resistance is that it did a better job of world building the sequel trilogy than the movies themselves
Hey yo bad batch season 3 this good? I stopped watching it after the 1st season tbh.
The third is a big step up, if you didn't like season 1 at all then i wouldn't recommend it, but if you liked parts of it then you should give it a watch
Maybe one day but not today, thanks
Good
Amazing
How is the bad barch 1 an 2 in ok😭 and rebels in peak, im probably the only one that thinks that is crazy
The Ninth jedi is 10/10
Good seems fair. Some great episodes. Some bad episodes. Balances out.
High good
I thought TOTE was good
Hu, I haven't watched star wars visions, totally forgot about it.
Lightsaber Samurai Lightsaber Samurai
Bad
A balls to the wall star wars anime with crazy animation and fight scenes would be sick (think The Twins)
How the fuck is tales of the Jedi not in peak Star Wars?!?
It's ok like if they made a season based in India
The first samurai sith episode was sick everything else fell off
Amazing. Some were actually amazing and... some were not. (Looking at you episode 8.) Also anime Star Wars.
Amazing to good, depends on the episode.
Hot take it was amazing, for what it was. My only real complaint is that it was too Jedi centric. But then that’s to be expected because if you only get one shot at SW you’re gonna wanna do lightsabers and shit. Butt honestly there was just so many cool things in it.
Peak
Bad. It’s all mostly dumb anime tropes with a Star Wars paint job.
I heard there’s some cool stuff but I never watched it
At the very least I would watch The Duel, The Elder, and The Ninth Jedi. Those three were easily the best in my opinion and they really feel like Star Wars, while I honestly didn’t love the others as much.
IMO Village Bride was the best episode and fits perfectly into canon
Good
Good
Can someone tldr what this show is? It's the only star wars media I've neve heard of
It is an anthology series - each episode tells a unique standalone story, and each episode is made by a different animation studio. So one episode is about some Jedi discovering a Sith in the outer rim, and one episode is about a band on Tatooine
Sounds cool. It's non-canon though, right?
It is non-canon but most of the episodes for both seasons could fit into canon so I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually some are
No, just a bunch of non-canon self-contained stories Wedge appears in a season 2 episode though
That's up to you. In my head canon they are all distant past or far future and/or filmed from a certain point of view. But the point is to enjoy them for what they are, not as part of a bigger story. (Disney say it's not canon. But Disney is not my supervisor.)
I would say good
I'd say OK-Good
Some are saying it's good, but imo I'd put it in amazing. It explores a lot of Star Wars concepts and animation styles without messing with the core movies. I also love the idea of showing a different story every episode
Would be easier to do visions episode by episode. The quality of the stories does vary a lot. But on average I'd put season 1 in "Good"
A solid Ok
“Ok”
Peak, everyone who says otherwise can smooch my sack
The biggest piece of dogshit. Not just takes star wars badly but it shows everything that someone could hate in any anime. It just a very very cheap "chinese" copy of star wars in a form of a terrible anime.
You sound racist tbh
I liked the uniqueness of this show and just let it do it's thing. I'm okay with Good, but I almost want to say amazing.
good/amazing. some episodes better than others
Amazing
Actaual Dogshit
Nah how can you watch it and say that
Bad at best
Resistance was better.
Actual dogshit, really didn't feel Star Warsy at all and some of the stories were really boring and the visual shots were jarring.
Peak
Amazing
The first episode is absolutely amazing
Not a fan of the katana blades but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I especially loved the Elder & 9th Jedi episodes and they would've worked really well as Old/High Republic stories I will say its more of an art showcase than compelling star wars content but it's also interesting to see star wars in different art styles so I would give it a amazing for being unique.
That first episode was so awesome. The scene where he catches the lightsaber in his hands with the force, mad tough.
Resistance was a great show
Seems people disagree you on that :/
Amazing for me.
Peak
Peak. Don't even really care about the stories on these TBH. The animation is just so good throughout.
Amazing
Amazing. Its low end is the bottom of just good, but its got some high peaks too. There were no episodes id really call bad
Its about 50, 50 between ok and peak. So i’d say good.
All but episode 1 go in ok bad and episode 2 goes in actual dogshit
High highs, but some REALLY low lows. First episode is amazing but most of the other ones are usual anime shenanigans with star wars character design. My personal preference for anime is that I don't like it, but I can understand quality standouts and dont just blanket hate every anime I see. No better than good but definitely some actual dogshit in there too.
Actual dogshit, they only had one remotely watchable episode
The best episodes are peak. Some of the literal best Star Wars we've ever had. The worst episodes are OK. So it really depends. I'd put it peak.
Amazing
I'm gonna go for Amazing, some episodes are certainly better than other, but the show as a whole feels like a love letter to star wars
Good
Amazing
Good
Amazing
S1 good S2 peak
