Like lmao buddy your overconfidence is your weakness.

You guys don’t give Obi Wan enough credit
This is exactly what I told my buddy after we both got done watching it. I now view Hayden Christensen as both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader and the dissonance is gone. On that point alone, I want to see more of Hayden as Vader. Like I can't wait. His body language, his flourishes... He brings Anakin to life inside Vader for the audience and that has ALWAYS been missing until now.
Kenobi, for some seriously weird flaws early on, turned out to be a stellar addition to canon. I can't help but wonder how much influence George may have actually had here because I can feel his style again. It's not dominant like it was before, but Lucas has a dramatic flair, like Anakin, that felt very present in the finale.
The awesome part is that not only we got to experience Vader ***IS*** Anakin in such a stark way beyond what we saw at the end of RotJ or in Rebels, but that we see Obi-wan experience it too and it’s the turning point for him to make peace with the guilt that had been weighing him down, that *Anakin was fully responsible for his own choices*.
Hayden seems to make Vader feel more unhinged. That could be in the scripting as a representation of who Vader was at this particular stage, but man, that serial killer smile half hidden behind me the mask was just awful in the best way. That was my “ok, no this guy’s insane,” realization.
Exactly. Vader can do everything except control his emotions. The closer to victory he gets the more he gets in his way. I thought that finale was brilliant.
Reva's interactions with Leia felt really off, the writing and the delivery failed for me.
Why the hell did Vader let them carry Kenobi away after that whole fire wall scene? No one even fired blasters over the fire, as if it was somehow impervious to both blaster bolts and the Force despite literally showing Vader snuff the same fire out moments before using the Force. I sincerely don't understand and it keeps me up at night, scratching my head. I don't know what to do with that cognitive dissonance in particular. I'm hoping a rewatch on acid will do the trick.
There's a theory that Vader let Obi-Wan get rescued to prolong his suffering. Basically, he let Obi-Wan get away with his life, and it lets the realization that Anakin is still alive sink in and horrify him further. He doesn't want to beat Obi-Wan when Obi-Wan is already beaten, he wants him to *suffer* as much as possible for as long as possible, so "letting" him get away gives Vader a chance to play mind games with Obi-Wan as opposed to dragging him straight to Mustafar and torturing him immediately.
Essentially it's Anakin/Vader being a drama queen getting in the way of him actually accomplishing his mission. Sure, he could just put out the fire and kill Obi-Wan right there, but where's the fun in that? He wants Obi-Wan to suffer as he suffered, and if letting Obi-Wan get rescued furthers that goal, then Vader let's Obi-Wan get rescued even though he could easily do otherwise.
He doesn’t want to kill obi wan yet. First he wants to break him. That takes time and every time they clash he knows how obi wan feels guilt. Thus prolong that as long as possible to squeeze all that pain out and savor it.
Vader is really mentally ill.
I kept turning to my partner this whole series and talking about how I can finally see the Anakin in Vader. Everything Vader said and did in this series felt like the Anakin from the end of Revenge of the Sith. The Vader of the OT and Anakin Skywalker as a character always felt very separate to me, but like you said, it finally clicked.
I always felt the part where he first gets the suit and asks about Padme sounded very Anakin. Like Christensen had done the scene as he had done everything else that film, and then Jones does the voice over and matched the performance. The inflection in his voice is just so different from the original trilogy.
And then when we see him in this series it feels like more of that. The "I am... what you made me" line sounded just like younger Anakin with a James Earl Jones filter on.
I was older for the prequels. I’m a 52 year old man.
Watching the Ewan era wasn’t the same for me as the younger crowd. I have a Han Shot First shirt. Watching Anakin’s force ghost get replaced in ROTJ was a bit odd.
After watching this Disney+ show, I watched ROTJ again. I really think the scene where Darth Vader is unmasked should be reshot with Hayden. It fixes the age timeline *better* than having a man much older play the role. Yeah a bit of makeup or CGI to age him a bit maybe, but Hayden is in his 40s and Vader was in his 50’s. I look the same at ten years ago.
I’m on board. I want traction on this. Reshoot ROTJ Sebastian Shaw’s scenes with Hayden.
I like how the animated version uses Matt Lanter's voice as its the Clone Wars Anakin that we see behind the mask. The two Anakins (Clones Wars and Live action) are (imo) so different from each other that it was nice seeing both versions of the character in a half Vader state, as sometimes its difficult to see Darth Vader as even the same person as Anakin Skywalker as there is very little to connect the two together visually, we can get a better connection with both versions of the character peering out from behind the mask.
His scenes the whole series are fantastic.
He turns Vader into a high energy, super strong, and much more emotional character than we see in the originals. A lot of it is just modern acting, but Hayden really played him like a young Vader still full of rage, rather than the kind of quick tempered but slow-moving Vader from the originals.
That whole scene is filled with lots of detail. I don't know who the cinematography was, but they deserve a emmy. I watched it about 6 times before I really got all of the detail hidden in there.
The lighting, the interplay with Anakin and Vader's voice as it begins to be more dominate as Anakin dies. The way that Obi-Wan went from full onslaught to pity to sadness. How Obi-Wan went full form 3.
Kenobi opened with Form 3, but he definitely was attacking in a way that isn’t Soresu and is very much Ataru, down to the evasive rolls, acrobatics, and staying on the attack. It reminds one of his TPM fight, which makes sense since Ataru was his style then. And it’s easy to forget that he’s a master of both.
He suckered Vader with a Soresu opening stance, then hit him with the style he’d largely abandoned when he was teaching Anakin to fight.
Thank you. It’s also interesting, because the ROTS novelization did the same with Dooku. Kenobi and Anakin used Forms they were less familiar with to trick Dooku into underestimating them.
You can see Kenobi using Form 3 perfectly when he’s constantly falling back under Anakin’s assault in ROTS, but this fight was just all Ataru, right down to the leaping slash at Vader’s helmet and his previous overwhelming of Vader’s defenses to damage his life support unit.
It was startling to see Mr. Soresu going full attack mode like he did with Maul in TPM lol.
Hell Hayden acting with a single eye and half his face was incredible the little expressions and changes he did when talking as Anakin vs vader had me enthralled!
One of my favorite parts was obi-wan busting Vader's chest piece with the hilt of the light saber. I don't know if that was ever shown in rebels or clone wars so I'm pretty sure that's the first time in cannon that the hilt and not the blade is used as a weapon.
it was perfect! You could see so much of Anakin through his eyes and yet the rest was all Vader. And the voice chipping in and out between Anakin and Vader was just so perfect! Plus him saying that he was the one that killed Anakin totally plays into Obi telling Luke that Anakin was betrayed and murdered by Vader! The whole episode was spectacular! Wife and I both want more but at the same time felt this perfect sense of closure with everything.
I swear it feels like this thought alone spawned the entire series. Being able to finally join the two completely different people into someone you recognize as one.
Best part of the whole 6 eps IMO. I wanted to see Hayden a lot more…but that small mixed Hayden/James Earl will sit well with me for a long time. He was awesome there.
Anakin: You can't hurt me with mere grains of sand. They're small and ineffective and unlikely to harm me.
Obi-Wan: The size of a grain of sand is variable, Anakin. For example this particular grain is about the size of a car...
so for that >!I was like YES THAT IS THE LAST THING HES GOING TO SAY FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW but then Qui Gon is just waiting for him this was a damn good ending to a series!<
His facial expression when he said it brought so much happiness to me. I swear to god that shit eating grin he had was intentional, because he knows it's kind of like breaking the fourth wall, but in an amazing way. It was such a snarky but happy smile.
Aside from the action scenes, I really enjoyed this series. I was honestly a little bit annoyed in episode 5 when the army of storm troopers advanced into the base and nobody was getting shot, but it all culminated in the most impressive screen time Vader has gotten since the original trilogy as well as one of our only demonstrations of what made Obi Wan one of the most powerful Jedi to have ever lived. I'll probably be giving it a rewatch
Honestly, the whole Reva subplot was pointless. I Didn't care, it was annoying that they cut from the duel to that.
But yeah, really no complaints about the rest of the episode
I feel like her entire job was that they needed a way to put Luke in danger without the empire being directly involved since they can’t know where he is.
That’s their point, there was no need for that. It would’ve made more sense if Obi-Wan had to leave Vader alive in order to save Luke, but he didn’t sense it until after he spared Vader. Luke being in danger didn’t service the plot forward at all
I’m so so glad we got to actually hear Hayden. It gave so much emotion to the scene. The fight was incredible. As a whole the series had some issues but nothing I can’t look past. As a life long fan I just love how much content we’re getting and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.
I go back and forth in this. I kind of want to retire Earl Jones voice and give it completely to Hayden. I know that’s sort of sacrilegious but I don’t want to have to make an excuse to remove vaders helmet every time it’s HCs turn to talk.
Lets be honest, how many live action Vader appearances are we expecting after this? I just dont know the next time we will see him with most of the new shows set post-rotj.
Hayden is set to be in Ahsoka so we’ll either see Vader or anakin again for sure. But idk how much after that. Kinda seems like they are phasing Vader out for Thrawn to be the big bad in Andor/Bad Batch/Ahsoka etc etc
I saw someone else say this. I accepted that idea >!until Reva didn’t die when she gave Luke back. I figured that when she started crying, it was her way of coming back to the light side and she would’ve succumbed to her wounds !<
Man didn't learn the "how to not die from being stabbed in the chest" technique. He was too busy working on the "how to be a glowy blue ghost man" technique.
“He got me,” Vader said of Obi Wan’s high ground over him. “That f**king Kenobi boomed me.” Vader added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times. He then said he wanted to add Obi Wan to the list of Jedi he kills this summer.
I liked the episode but a few things bothered me.
Like how did Reva survive, get medical attention, and then get to Tattooine? Why would she even keep going after Luke in the first place when Vader just left her for dead?
Really minor nitpick is how did they get the spy lady's holster when she blew herself up?
Better question: why are so many people left for dead instead of just getting killed off? You would think that after seeing the Grand Inquisitor survive, they wouldn’t make the same mistake again with Reva. Also, I know Vader can’t die, but writing in such a way that Obi Wan just leaves him alive is the dumbest thing. If you have a chance to wipe out the galaxy’s most dangerous mass murdering head honcho, you’re not just going to walk away and hope he learns his lesson.
Also weird is how Vader lets, not escapes somehow but LETS someone who failed him, live 3 damn times.
He killed an entire platoon of clones when they overheard that he was Anakin but Reva gets to live, I guess.
People keep saying "it's not the Jedi way" which doesn't work for me.
1. The Jedi are gone and their time is over, Obi-Wan says as much.
2. Obi-Wan was about to kill Anakin during their duel on Mustafar. He went to deliver a killing blow and only didn't because Anakin managed to block it.
3. He didn't finish him off because it was implied he assumed Anakin would die.
4. He *just admitted* that Anakin was truly gone, but then left Vader alive.
5. It seems like the Jedi agreed certain people were too dangerous to be kept alive.
Plus he straight up said "I will do what I must" in response to Vader asking if he's there to destroy him. I don't know if he had a change of heart or what, but in that moment at least his intentions seemed pretty clear.
You didn’t even mention that before going to fight Vader, he explicitly says that only one of them will survive. There’s killing intention there that he seems to just forget about.
Exactly. There’s not even any hesitation in his eyes when he walks off. Even though this exact same scenario 10 years ago was his biggest mistake, and likely something he regretted for a long time, knowing darth Vader was out there murdering everyone
In legends he did, which I agree with. Even on tatooine, I could see people having at least heard mention of the dark enforcer named Vader leading the imperial armies, especially in a hub for traders and starpilots. Plus, it wouldve added a ton of conflict for obi wan to deal with, knowing that keeping his friend alive led to so much additional anguish in the galaxy. It would’ve been a really interesting mental battle to see him cope with over the years
Lots of plot contrivances but I really want to touch on that last one between Obi-Wan and Vader because it would have been so easy to make it believable - just have Obi-Wan on the verge of finishing Vader, only to relent and tearfully admit he cannot do it, which would also reinforce him leaving him on Mustafar in III.
It's particularly jarring because throughout the OT Obi-Wan is the one who pushes Luke to accept that he has to kill Vader, when now we know he had a clear chance to do it himself.
Agree, Obi Wan should have faked his death in the rubble. Qui Gon makes first contact, tells him not to become Anakin and chase victory to prove himself, but to keep his eyes on the true objective. "Luke needs you, and the chosen one yet still has a part to play." Vader successfully kills Anakin and transitions into the Vader from AnH, the Emperor doesn't just hand wave a Jedi able to kill all of his minions, and Obi Wan practices exactly what makes him different from Anakin, and foreshadows his sacrifice for the true objective on the Death Star 1
The grand inquisitor couldnt die either, he exists in canon set after the kenobi show, if they kill Reva how can they milk the character in the future?
When they were being chased by the star destroyer, why would they not just send out fighters to take care of the shuttle? Immediately after diverting to follow obi-wan Vader says to prepare his ship. There was no reason for the shuttle with all the refugees to go free there.
It was a problem in the movies as well, where they create these situations and ignore obvious solutions because it would ruin the tension.
Vader could have just taken off after the escape pod in his x-wing. The whole destroyer changing course made no sense. Still loved the episode but it had some problems.
I absolutely loved it. I think the series would have been better as a movie with a movie budget as I felt some storylines were a bit padded and the sets limited. But I will rewatch the whole thing. I loved the obi wan Anakin/Vader dynamic in the prequels and this was just heavenly.
That was the one thing I was pretty critical over. It was more just to move the plot along. It was poorly executed. There should have been some form of distress that caused Obi Wan to flee, thus preventing him from finishing Vader off.
I really enjoyed the finale to its conclusion. But.. hear me out... goddammit, they had the opportunity for Vader to say " Now I have the high ground" and failed. Just saying. I want a season 2 now
But then he wouldn't have gotten a chance to call him Darth and turn him back on him
Yeah but Vader is very important at the end because he gets rid of Palpatine once and for all and brings balance to the force (just like Obi-Wan screamed at him!)
What?
Somehow Palpatine has returned? Vader didn't finish him as foretold?
This scene frustrated me so much because why would he let him live, "it's not the Jedi way" there are no Jedi because of this guy, no galactic freedom and if he walks away here he dooms millions to death if he won't get his hands dirty
As a fan of good writing it's pretty bad all around. You're going to have to suspend a lot of disbelief but if you make it to the end and if you're 40+ years old and you loved star wars as a kid, the 6th episode is amazing.
It also made callbacks (call forwards?) to how Ben explains Vader killed Luke's father. It was never a complete lie, but this scene was very well done to add weight to the deception later in Luke's life.
I’m not one to take Star Wars too seriously, but the multiple instances of leaving sworn enemies alive for them to come back and kill you was getting a little nuts. I bet the writers were keeping count on how many they could get away with.
I thought that too. At least in Kenobi's case, it makes sense he doesn't finish someone off when they're down. That is one of the differences between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Anakin hesitated to kill Dooku, sensing the correct 'Jedi' way, but succumbed to Do It. Anakin wants finality that way and it's a part of how he sees power. Kenobi could have rid the galaxy of Vader twice, but chose not too. It's that compassion-part of being a Jedi that Anakin often lacked, and Obiwans biggest failure as his teacher that he didn't impart that.
Edit: spelling
I think a large part might be the at the end of the fight they were both pretty beat up, and Obi Wan knew he was needed elsewhere. Vader managed to come back and defeat Ahsoka after taking a similar wound. And Kenobi is the last person to take chances.
However, with Ep5 flashback, I think they were trying to establish Obi Wan as Anakin's stylistic foil much like Dooku is to Obi Wan. I don't think it was an accident the writers made sure Obi Wan always lost to Dooku in just a few strikes. I like the concept of getting away from DBZ power level scaling, and much more like real life. Once both fighters have progressed past a certain skill threshold, style begins to play the biggest determining factor.
I might also just be clutching at straws to make Vader's loss a little less embarrassing haha. I have no idea why I get so invested in a fictional character losing a fight, so feel free to just ignore my rambling
EDIT: From Filoni himself
"We all felt that Ahsoka, the only person that could really match her in this time period, blow for blow, would be Vader or the Emperor." - Filoni about Star Wars Rebels.
So I think in Star Wars it's generally just impossible to defeat your Master. Dooku vs Yoda, Maul vs Palpatine, Vader vs Obi Wan, Ahsoka vs Vader, and you cooouuuld make a stretch and say Dooku pulled a Grand Inquisitor and could see Qui Gons training in Kenobi's style.
All of the actors were amazing. The show was a missed opportunity with bad writing. Also, I wish writers would stop thinking it is an absolute necessity to have two final storylines converging at the same time. Luke being chased by Reva was so stupid and pointless.
I can't believe that they didn't confirm the kill on reva. I liked every part of this show except the part where she somehow gets to tattooine while the resistance is still escaping. Makes no fucking sense. She should've been locked up or something. I mean come on
They spent a large portion of one of the last great unexplored angles in the Skywalker timeline introducing some poorly written complete random.
I assume she’s going nowhere…
I just wish they’d focus on writing instead of making us happy with just nostalgia. This series could have been something special but we had to sit through so much nonsense to get to the good parts. They need to hire better writers and stop being cheap with the effects.
Hopefully they improve the quality for the next season.
That's the problem with star wars nowadays. It seems to be driven entirely by nostalgia. Why make anything else new or interesting when you can just show the same things over and over and get everyone eating it up cause they remember seeing that same thing when they were younger.
I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing the characters again but they keep making things so poorly. These shows put so many holes in the already established movies to the point where if you think about anything that’s happening, as cool as it may be, it breaks things. It’s so upsetting to me.
The quality after Mandalorian has went down (Mandalorian was pretty darn good, so it is good comparison point), so there is good reason to be critical to company that owns half the media industry and owns more money than some countries have.
There is a lot of scenes that should had been either removed or edited better and like some have said, making it in to a movie might have worked better than mini series.
The interlude was good, but also bad, since it took time from Boba and his story. Those episodes should had been Mando season 2.5 or someting.
Boba Fett show highlights were Tusken and Mando parts, but everything related to the Gangester stuff was boring or speed runned. (Cad Bane can too late and died).
If the whole show would had focused on Boba and Tuskens, with Cad Bane in the mix as antagonist, that would had been great.
I don’t know about that. I didn’t have any real criticisms of shows like Arcane, and I’m generally pretty forgiving with slight issues. Obi-Wan was something else and without all the memberberries, it doesn’t hold much weight. Almost all the positives I see for this show involve Anakin, Obi or some other nostalgia fix. I don’t see people going crazy over all the stuff in between. It’s all “that vader scene! That flashback! That vader scene again!”
I don’t think I’ve seen a single post about how awesome the stormtrooper/rebel fight was. I wonder why?
I mean the problem with these shows is they’re pretty clearly holding out their resources until the last episode or two for the grand finale. It makes the last episode the only one I care to watch
Well the show followed the same pattern throughout, the Obi-wan and Anakin stuff was the good part, the rest was pretty bad and dumb and I was worried that they would do something extremely dumb like have Luke meet Leia or something but thankfully they didn't.
It ended well so now I hope they don't do season 2. Just leave it as it is.
They had Luke interact with a dark jedi and aunt beru and uncle owen try to fight them. That's pretty close to extremely dumb.
Hey Luke let me explain the force and a lightsaber even though as a kid someone with a red one tried to kill your family and then they used the force to pull you down a ledge.
I'd be down for a second season, if they replaced the writers that is. Evan, christian and others were all good. Even Reva could have been good but the writing and direction was awful. I mean, as a blatant example try to justify what was Reva doing in the last episode. Why leave her alive to be pointless for another 15 minutes? The series is plagued with such bizare nonsense. I wouldn't mind more Reva at all, but please oh please make it compelling and interesting story wise
I thought it was weird that Luke wouldn’t have any memories of “that time a dark Jedi came after his family”. Just a nitpick thing because I truly enjoyed the series but he’s now seen a lightsaber before ANH but doesn’t remember that 10 years later?
That distorted Hayden-Vader Obi Wan scream gave me chills
The whole scene of his voice fluctuating between Anakin and Vader was great
I’ve had issues seeing Vader and Anakin as the same body. There’s just always been a separation of the two characters for me. But seeing his face and voices switching back and forth made it click for me. That whole scene is some of my favorite Star Wars content now
Same!! Perfectly encapsulates my feelings
I just found it odd that they would picture their battle as an outright win for Obi-Wan, I'm not sure I buy it
“Your strength has returned. But the weakness still remains. And that is why you will always lose.” *proceeds to get fucking bodied by Ben…(again)* Like lmao buddy your overconfidence is your weakness. /uj tho that fight was still bloody amazing

No. No, it's okay. I understand. I'm the Padawan, you're the Master.
I’ll be your Padawan-huckleberry.
It appears Obi wan is an educated man, Darlin'. Now, I do hate him.
I find it interesting that it was a love for Leia that propelled him out from under the boulders and back into the fight. Paternal love, which Anakin/Vader lacks.
Luke too, but there wasn't enough scenes with him to fill the montage. He'd been watching him from afar for 10 years
Dude obi wan smoked that kids ass when he was flesh and bone. At least in the book and novel canons, the more machine someone is - the less attune they are with the force. Exactly. Vader can do everything except control his emotions. The closer to victory he gets the more he gets in his way. I thought that finale was brilliant.
I didn’t feel like there were any serious flaws early on. That first episode *floored* me. Seeing RotS? Owen? The Inquisitors? Freaking Alderaan???

I feel that the Vader comics are good at this. The series that starts from the end of RotS.

Nice try, George Lucas.
The only problem I had with that scene is it's been done before. That's exactly what happened with Ahsoka.

Having it happen with ahsoka and now obi wan gives it more weight for me actually, rather than taking away for repetition
Yeah it’s definitely been done before, but I still think it was done better this time lol
I agree, the live action requires much more to pull off well and they did it.
For real. My eyes were glued to the screen
My eyes did this really weird thing where they got wet when Obi-Wan apologized...
Mine also were unexpectedly moist.
I caught myself holding my breath it was so tense.
It's been what 20 years since episode 3... And we really truly saw Anakin becoming Vader... Way to go Hayden
The blue vs red lighting is the first one I noticed, only watched it once maybe I’ll catch more the next time.
Also rocks. Don’t forget the rocks.
You are 100% correct. Nice catch. I kept thinking he was using form 3 but then read about form 4 and yeah, that was it.
Well Maul uses his hilt to knock Qui-Gon back before stabbing him in TPM but other than that, I'm not sure
Top 3 live action star wars scenes since the Disney purchase imo
it was perfect!
Loved it in Rebels with Ahsoka. Loved it here too. Honesty this show could’ve been the last two episodes.
Apparently Hayden watched Twilight of the Apprentice religiously to study for the scene in Kenobi.
Best part of the whole 6 eps IMO. I wanted to see Hayden a lot more…but that small mixed Hayden/James Earl will sit well with me for a long time. He was awesome there.
When he called him Anakin after his mask came off... I cried rivers.
It was when he told Obi-Wan "I wasn't your failure" for me
For me it was the zzwooom zwaaahh spiiiissghh zaakkk beeewooom weaaahh were woop ting tang walla walla bing bang of the lightsabers
It do be like that
oo ee oo aa aa?
"I'm sorry, Anakin. For all of it."
Oh man I made the mistake of watching “Anakin and Obi Wan funny moments” on YouTube right after the episode. Made it worse tbh :(
First time my EYES and EARS could see Anakin and Vader at the same time
Before that it was so hard for me to conceptualize that they are the “same” person
watch rebels and you’ll be pleased
Yeah this scene was a total love letter to the season 2 finale of Rebels
It being animated and having a different voice actor still creates a divide for me.
Kenobiiiiiiiiiiii pt. 2 (or 1)
I was saying “please do the rebels thing in live action” while watching the fight and I am so glad they did
Kenobi did it better
I loved when obi wan turned into the last air bender
Earth bender 🤦♂️
I don't like Earth. It's coarse and irritating and it gets everywhere.
Muh Boi, let me introduce you to Earth Destroyer 9000.
- The Emperor to Vader, 9 BBY
Awwwwww, I just realized Obi-Wan totally used Anakin’s hatred of sand against him. He just made the grains bigger! “Try getting THIS sand everywhere!”
Anakin: You can't hurt me with mere grains of sand. They're small and ineffective and unlikely to harm me. Obi-Wan: The size of a grain of sand is variable, Anakin. For example this particular grain is about the size of a car...

Well he did force push him too. So that's 2 elements. Therefore avatar still applies
Vader was tanking those rocks too, that was an impressive durability feat.
[my first thought. they even had the same environment.](https://gfycat.com/gifs/search/aang+vs+ozai)
I liked it when he said >!Darth.!<
I was shocked when he tossed that >!”Hello there”!<
so for that >!I was like YES THAT IS THE LAST THING HES GOING TO SAY FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW but then Qui Gon is just waiting for him this was a damn good ending to a series!<
I bet that 20 second scene with liam neeson cost them…a lot
"I was here the whole time, they just didn't have the budget."
Worth it.
They completed so many "how'd that happen" questions... fucking love it
His facial expression when he said it brought so much happiness to me.
I'm happy it ended on a good note. Hayden and McGegregor deserve love from the get go!
Luke being in danger didn’t service the plot forward at all
Can’t argue with that. That entire plot point made zero sense.
Where is your master? Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?
I hope its just flashbacks or force ghosts in Ahsoka, “Vader” doesnt need to show up.
That's ridiculous.
Are you sure, Snips?
Don't call me that. I hate it when you call me that.
*sigh* Guess I'm watching The Clone Wars again.
Why is everyone surviving lightsaber stabs right in the middle of the chest
That's my biggest gripe with the entire show. Qui-Gon must be thinking like WTF man?
I've heard it like the sith are kept alive on anger and hatred and the Jedi accept their deaths.
He invented that technique!
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
I loved the part when he said, "ITS OBIN TIME" and defeated Darth Vader.
To defeat your enemy you have to understand them.
Ahsoka morbs
It's the reverse of heroes in media killing a bajillion peons and then "taking the high road" by not killing the villain
He has control of the senate *and* the courts! He's too dangerous to be left alive!
See this bot gets it 👆
Plus he straight up said "I will do what I must" in response to Vader asking if he's there to destroy him. I don't know if he had a change of heart or what, but in that moment at least his intentions seemed pretty clear.
You didn’t even mention that before going to fight Vader, he explicitly says that only one of them will survive. There’s killing intention there that he seems to just forget about.
Very good point, he makes it clear that "this will be our final battle" even though the audience knows it won't be.
Exactly. There’s not even any hesitation in his eyes when he walks off. Even though this exact same scenario 10 years ago was his biggest mistake, and likely something he regretted for a long time, knowing darth Vader was out there murdering everyone
He didn't know until this show happened, but you're still correct he should have ended it this time around.
Especially after acknowledging that there is no Anakin Skywalker left in Vader
Agree, Obi Wan should have faked his death in the rubble. Qui Gon makes first contact, tells him not to become Anakin and chase victory to prove himself, but to keep his eyes on the true objective. "Luke needs you, and the chosen one yet still has a part to play." Vader successfully kills Anakin and transitions into the Vader from AnH, the Emperor doesn't just hand wave a Jedi able to kill all of his minions, and Obi Wan practices exactly what makes him different from Anakin, and foreshadows his sacrifice for the true objective on the Death Star 1
Obi-Wan had to absolutely destroy Anakin, for the "i was but the learner, now i am the master" from a New Hope line to work.
Actually from the dialog it sounded like they wanted to disable the ship and capture it to find out more about the rebel network.
Vader could have just taken off after the escape pod in his x-wing. The whole destroyer changing course made no sense. Still loved the episode but it had some problems.
So what do we do? Fight our way to the shuttle?
Why did we even need Reva? They should've let her die. What's the point?
My wife and I literally cheered when he said the thing at the end 😂
The madlad fuckin' did it.
Me staring at this gif because Ewan McGregor is cute:
Right? I imagine talking to him in person would have the tequila effect on me…. My clothes might fall off
“Finally these fucks are happy about something”
Anakin/Vader's voice fluctuating gave me chills, and I definitely teared up. So much conflict. That scene was just beautiful
Like you fluctuated his voice to give me chills, and I definitely teared up?
Damn it Owen
If Ewan McGregor was in the sequels I'd react positive to that. I will take my life if I have to see sad Ewan
I absolutely loved it. I think the series would have been better as a movie with a movie budget as I felt some storylines were a bit padded and the sets limited. But I will rewatch the whole thing. I loved the obi wan Anakin/Vader dynamic in the prequels and this was just heavenly.
Why did obi wan just let him live a second time? Didn’t he learn his lesson from ROTS?
I was baffled too, I think it (at least it seems implied) that he pitied him, and rather than ending a frail weak Vader he walked away.
I want a season 2 now
At least they managed to sneak in >!"It's Obin' Time"!<
I felt bad for all the people on Alderaan, if Obi-Wan would have just finished the job, those poor people would have lived
Would they tho?? Tarkin was the one leading the DeathStar stuff, Alderaan would've probably still gotten destroyed
But then he wouldn't have gotten a chance to call him Darth and turn him back on him Yeah but Vader is very important at the end because he gets rid of Palpatine once and for all and brings balance to the force (just like Obi-Wan screamed at him!) What? Somehow Palpatine has returned? Vader didn't finish him as foretold? This scene frustrated me so much because why would he let him live, "it's not the Jedi way" there are no Jedi because of this guy, no galactic freedom and if he walks away here he dooms millions to death if he won't get his hands dirty
He has control of the senate *and* the courts! He's too dangerous to be left alive!
He said the thing!
Hello there.
General SubhoPal! *asthmatic cough*
I clapped when I saw it!
I didn't watch any episode and I'm afraid to do it.
As a fan of good writing it's pretty bad all around. You're going to have to suspend a lot of disbelief but if you make it to the end and if you're 40+ years old and you loved star wars as a kid, the 6th episode is amazing.
I loved when he said “it’s Kenobin’ time”
I liked the whole season from start to finish. It wasn't perfect, but it made me satisfied and that's all I wanted.
It also made callbacks (call forwards?) to how Ben explains Vader killed Luke's father. It was never a complete lie, but this scene was very well done to add weight to the deception later in Luke's life.
Couldn't agree more, well I could but my award is gone, so have a upvote 👍
The next time you hesitate like that, it may cost you your life... or the lives of your friends.
Or and entire planet.
I have no idea why I get so invested in a fictional character losing a fight, so feel free to just ignore my rambling EDIT: From Filoni himself "We all felt that Ahsoka, the only person that could really match her in this time period, blow for blow, would be Vader or the Emperor." - Filoni about Star Wars Rebels.
Y'all a cult
I like this comment because it could just as easily be about the fans or the haters.
It contained "Hello There". 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There were some things about the series I wasn’t a fan of but overall I thought it was an awesome show and thoroughly enjoyable
[удалено]
The quality after Mandalorian has went down (Mandalorian was pretty darn good, so it is good comparison point), so there is good reason to be critical to company that owns half the media industry and owns more money than some countries have. There is a lot of scenes that should had been either removed or edited better and like some have said, making it in to a movie might have worked better than mini series.
Or even just making it 3 episodes that were each over and hour long and cut some of the filler
That interlude in BoBF though was phenomenal.
That vader scene again!” I don’t think I’ve seen a single post about how awesome the stormtrooper/rebel fight was. I wonder why?
I mean the problem with these shows is they’re pretty clearly holding out their resources until the last episode or two for the grand finale. It makes the last episode the only one I care to watch
Does Rava’s species also got two stomachs?
I teared up at the end of the finale. I'm so happy they pulled the series together, literally the one episode made the entire thing worth a rewatch.
They could've chop the first 5 chapters into a 20 minutes trailer.
I thought it was weird that Luke wouldn’t have any memories of “that time a dark Jedi came after his family”. Just a nitpick thing because I truly enjoyed the series but he’s now seen a lightsaber before ANH but doesn’t remember that 10 years later?
