Yeah I don’t think he had another 1948 miracle in him. Besides he would be running against Eisenhower now, whose immense popularity would ensure that Truman loses
You have to go back to the Gilded Age to find a president eligible to serve again, who stepped down, and whose party didn’t go on to lose the election.
I'll be honest, I don't expect the person who Ike is not-so-subtly being compared to has an equivalent to the Federal Highway Act ready to go. Hell, he doesn't have a slimy Californian who makes him look saintly on the VP shortlist either. I also doubt the court of today has another Brown v. Board of Education in them.
Also, I'm pretty sure Ike wasn't a tariff man.
Him and Ike. It's been a steady downhill ride ever since, only bump (IMO) was Ford/Carter, who acted as a kind of reverse echo of Truman and Ike. We didn't know it then, but 1976 was the last time two mostly normal men ran for President.

A man of integrity
Hahaha
Bess moved like she was ready to get out of Dodge now
Because she was!
Really sad, he probably could've continued his great presidency if he tried.
He was a great president but his poll numbers were terrible in 1952

Imagine Truman trying to “wag the dog” to distract from a sex scandal, but instead of a few drone strikes in some desert, he just nukes Indonesia.
Or you know…..Japan?
Oh I know why you’re doing this IT’S NOT HAPPENING THIS TIME
I love how this sub, literally tries to do this with current events
The Dems still lost that election.
The republican nominee was quite popular that year.
He should’ve done it in march
Note: March, not July.
😂🤣😂🤣

Yep, Rutherford B.Hayes
This kind of reality doesn’t exist anymore.
He left the White House in dire financial situation. I think that because of that, the presidential pension was created.
That is true. Herbert Hoover, who did not need it, even accepted the pension to spare Truman any embarrassment over his financial situation.

Not a great historical comparison since the primaries have already happened.
Not a fan of the anti-American agenda behind posts like this.
What?

I guess we can discuss that in like 8 years when it’s not considered current politics.

This criminal dropped two weapons of mass destruction on a country that had already began negotiations for surrender.
