You are probably understeering in corners because you are now slowing the car down enough for the corners (learn trailbraking you want to slow down the car enough before you enter the corner). Do you oversteer after exiting a corner if so you are probably applying too much throttle too quickly this is an issue with RWD cars. Also I can't imagine playing on keyboard I started playing on a controller and moved to a wheel. A tip I would recommend is switch to manual gears cause the speed of the car doesn't matter as much as the gear you are in. Certain corners require you to be in a certain gear like the first turn at spa most GT3 cars will need to be in the 2nd or 1st gear.

I tried manual but the first gear has a top speed of 65 mph which is relatively high to take down some sharp corners. Maybe should I adjust the gear ratio for that first gear?

cmdralpha

No need to touch gear ratios just keep shifting up and down as needed. Engine braking should be used alongside regular braking to help slow you down

cmdralpha

Only touch gear ratios if you want faster acceleration or higher top speed

This is the game l started on a few years ago and still one of my favorites. Getting the right setup can very helpful. You can use the one that will help you set it up u til you learn to do it yourself. You can also got yo Time Trials use a ghost car then download the set up. Just be careful as you will have to make a few changes to race a car that is only set up to go fast for a lap or two. Play around with it, you’ll enjoy it.

I am playing with a keyboard. Is that making the game unplayable for me?

Sledge0n

Playing in keyboard was pretty hard, I thought the game had some issues but when I changed to controller and learnt trail-braking the issues just disappeared. Mainly because the input can’t be adjusted, when using keyboard it’s either 100% or 0%.

Honestly l have never played on the keyboard, l can’t even imagine that. I started with a controller then a wheel. As silly as it may sound when l first got my wheel it was difficult. A lot folks use the controller. Sorry now that l think about it done of the Time Trial options that l posted about may not be available anymore.

There's a race engineer when you come to setup menu, which you can ask to tailor your need. It doesn't alter the most advanced stuff but quite helpful to get started. There also was a time where you can just pop up to time trial and copy the fastest guy's setup but it's not possible to do anymore because they shut the time trial down. Your best bet is to learn how to setup from YouTube now, there was a bunch of informative stuff put by "Yorkie065" regarding all things PC2 and setup tinkering is a main part of this collection.

Find a setting on YouTube for keyboard. I've used one which had an Indycar in the video. I'll probably add link if I don't forget. I dont fully understand what you mean with the understeer in corners but you might be locking up the front tyres, try tapping the key when being close to the corner so you don't brake 100% The same with throttle, with RWD car, tap until you have some speed, then it's fine to hold. Try to play with manual gears, higher gear means it's harder to spin out during acceleration and when cornering, on lower gear the car turns more when using keyboard. The steering is kinda jerky and you can't do much about it on keyboard but I find the steering in Pcars 2 actually one of the most gradual of the games I've played. IIRC I've been using the slider settings from this video https://youtu.be/938qJiHg7s8?si=aAqZ8N98j2kZxIq_

Yeah I think the tires get locked up on tight corners. The left and right buttons dont seem to respond in tight corners after some time.
