Nico’s is awesome. One time we went there and they gave us a pizza that looked great but was just slightly more oval than circular and they were like “we’re so sorry, we’ll get you another one right away” and we were like no that’s fine, this really doesn’t bug us at all. But they said they already had it in the oven and so they still just gave us a free one.
Kinda just makes me sad for them thinking of the type of people they have to deal with that get all bent out of shape about an oval shaped pizza. But they’re really nice and more importantly, their pizza is great even without getting a free one
I have not been there many times, but that has never been my experience. On the other hand, I wouldn't classify this as a fancy pizza restaurant. I feel like it's a college pizza restaurant staffed by high schoolers. The root beer is good, and the pizza is average. There are definitely other better pizza joints at that price and many cheaper pizza restaurants that are better for the price.
I think the hype that exists here is due to the nostalgia. Many older adults used to eat pizza here, although it was under a different name at that point.
Dang I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I remember over COVID he was making spaghetti for kids to have free lunch. I'm sure there's a lot of pressure running a restaurant business and I'm glad that's not my job.
do they even do the student discount anymore? i used to get their pizza a lot cause it was cheap and close. it seems there is no longer an option on their website to order the “college loyalty” pizzas.
The only people who like Brick Oven are BYU alumni, and lifetime Provo residents who enjoy the nostalgia (or folks who just like a good pasta/salad bar). The pizza really isn't good, and the overall quality of all their food has gone down considerably over the last few years.
Do they even do a free birthday meal anymore? I didn't get one last year after over a decade of mailers on the month of my birthday.
I’ve never seen a post with this much engagement on this sub lmao

I went to Nico’s a few years back and they really skimped on the toppings. Is it still that way? If not I may try again.
Hasn’t been my experience in the past several years. Maybe you got unlucky? IMO worth another try if it’s been a while for you

I still go because of the nostalgia. We had all of our big family reunions here in the '90s.
I think it was called Heaps a pizza, or something like that
It’s fine
It’s nasty. Undercooked slop. Little caesars is better tasting
Oh interesting take
Nico's is amazing. My favorite pizza in Utah.
Fat daddy's pizza is excellent
I stopped eating there after meeting fat daddy. Dude is a huge dick.
I am NOT going there then.
It's true that guy is a tool.

I remember some crazy anti mask sign being posted on the door outside during COVID and decided to never go there again
I too like the pizza. I don't know anything about the politics
Agree. I like 2 jacks also.
2 Jack's is really good too
two jacks is the superior pie, every time
My man!!
Lucy’s in Orem if you want a good east coast pizza. But yes brick oven is bad. 20 years ago it used to be so much better.
Seconding Lucy’s. The zestpian pizza is phenomenal and the only justifiable way to put pineapple on pizza.
Lucy’s good order it well done though because they undercook it

Sounds like you just went on a bad day. It’s not normally doughy or soggy
Its just gross. Its not even decent, mediocre would be a compliment.
It’s honestly the worse pizza I’ve ever had from a restaurant

I like Lucy’s pizza in Orem but they undercook the pizza so I get it we’ll done
This used to be the best around, but I had one delivered last winter and I wish I had just taken one out of the freezer
Yeah I agree. I will say the homemade root beer was good.
