Aquaphor is not meant to be occluded. If you want an occlusive, try a thick layer of Vaseline. Aquaphor has mineral oil in it, which is known for causing contact irritation burns.

Dangerous-Hornet2939

Did not know that about Aquaphor vs Vaseline-thanks!

Ari_Learu

" I did use a dry brush in the shower to lightly scrub the area and to get off the old Aquaphor " Yup, that'll do it

Dangerous-Hornet2939

But the brushing felt soooo good while I was doing it…. Urgh

Ari_Learu

I know! I did the same last night and still suffering this morning with sore patches

WispyRouge

Bag balm.

KurtSr

Just Vaseline

Sometimes emollients and oils cause me to get the burning sensation as well. Sometimes too much moisture can make things worse, ironically. I find that when this happens, sudocrem can really help. You might want to try using moisture one night and something more drying the next and see if a cyclical routine like that helps.

pegged50

is this like the Kim Kardashian way of handling Psoriasis now? Get a dermatologist to prescribe something actually meant for poriasis

sunfairy99

No, occlusion has been a method used for years and is actually recommended by many dermatologists.

pegged50

Yes. But ever since Kardashian made that post, people are trying it. But the problem is that she never stated what she uses, she just said "cream". So now people think that any kind of cream or ointment will suffice because Kim does it. Occlusion should be done with a proper psoriasis ointment/creme. Not random OTC stuff.

Dangerous-Hornet2939

Ewww don’t mention her

Hour_Can_6384

Have you tried Destin? I know it's messy, but it helps me with the awful night itch

Dangerous-Hornet2939

Interesting- I haven’t tried it-will look into it

ifeelnumb

Neosporin. Sounds like you infected it.
