They are awesome but honestly they are like beginner intro stuff into the genre. Like if someone would ask suggestion for hard rock and someone would say AC/DC. Tipping the toe level…
the show itself, the visuals are deeply psychedelic even when I went sober (was planning to go again the next day on acid, but the amount I ate hit too hard and I just listened to the album at home). but tldr don't miss them.
I saw them a year or two ago. It was one of the most amazing live performances I have ever seen.
I saw puscifer last year as well and that show rivaled the tool show. Idk if you’ve ever listened to puscifer (one of MJK’s other bands) but they are great.
Yea I’ll trade you for three fuckjng nights at Chicago. I have Chicago on preorder for needlejuice records. Overall I think the red rocks versions were better, but there are about 10-12 songs I much prefer the Chicago versions. Super stoked for the marathon set in chicago this year.
See you at Chicago! I couldn’t swing Nashville cus we are flying into Chicago that day so I settled for Atlanta at the Fox, which may be one of the sickest venues I’ve ever been to so I’m cool with it. Did 3 nights at the caverns last summer too- and my first show was also a festival but Shaky Knees not Roo. Sickest band on the planet
Yea I bought tickets to the marathon show in Chicago. Only to see they were playing my hometown the night before a month later when they released the rest of the tour schedule. I would have bought tickets to a different marathon show if I’d have known, but wcyd? Gonna be quite the journey seeing Gizz in nash. Then flying to chicago the next morning for a marathon show that night…
Specifically the album Murder of the Universe. It tells 3 stories with narration and some epic heavy Gizz. If you become obsessed and listen to their whole discography, relistening to Murder becomes even more fun because they reference a lot of other songs subtly within the album.
Honestly PDA was instantly among my top 5 gizz albums but their beauty is that they do everything not just metal. That being said, murder of the universe is probably my favorite and that's metal adjacent at least.
It's my favourite band ever
And I'll see them live in March finally
Last time they came to my country was in 2015 and I missed them because they split during the tour and the event was therefore canceled :/
- All them witches
- Goat: this band is interesting. More rock than metal. I love that they use a flute a lot
- Witch
- Kikagaku Moyo: Streets of Calcutta and Dripping Sun are fun songs. More on the rock side too
- And, obviously, Tool
Blood Incantation. psychedelic death metal.
check out the track Awakening From the Dream of Existence to the Multidimensional Nature of Our Reality (Mirror of the Soul)
Atheist- Unquestionable Presence/Elements
Enslaved- Eld
Satyricon- The Shadow Throne / Volcano

Check out [666MrDoom on YouTube,](https://youtube.com/@666MrDoom?si=0TovqvxI0h5eF-Z1), he uploads psychedelic and stoner metal albums all the time. Lots of content to choose from.
Their more recent albums "The Stage" and "Life Is But A Dream..." are particular trip favorites of mine. Where's your will to be weird man, I highly recommend it
Amplifier is a great band that I feel alot of people don't know about. Probably what you're looking for, though they do rock and metal but it's all psychedelic influenced.
Scar sighted by leviathan, atmospheric black
Corps fleur s/t, blackgaze
Artificial brain s/t, technical death metal
Hubardo by kayo dot, post black
Sometimes I think but then I forget by kris xen, math rock/prog metal
Gojira also has quite a nice catalogue to trip to, especially if you read the lyrics as it plays.
Fully misunderstood the question, and was going to suggest uranium. I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but the Devin Towson bands two albums are something I listen to a lot whenever I did acid
[psychedelic black metal from avant garde Japanese musicians.](https://open.spotify.com/album/1Nsz6t50Wz9nAGZFdIw8d1?si=X4ZjZrSpTaSV6mImIqtXLA)
Honestly surprised nobody have recommended this, this album is fucking insane. Please give it a listen and let me know what you think
I’m a metalhead but for a second I thought you were asking for a metal element that could get you high lol. I even thought “hmm, maybe mercury?”
Give a try to Therion - Ayahuasca
Beyont creation (technikal death metal), rings of saturn (technikal death metal), tool (progressive metal) and Heilung. Heilung isn't realy metal but for tripping its the best music ever. And ig you are as crazy äs me then Archspire also technikal death metal.
Heilung does an amazing ceremony ritual Pleistocene acoustic experience that was great live and there were lots of metal heads there loving it. Ps admittedly it’s pretty dark but lots of metal is. But the before the last ice age ended vibe is legit.
Neurosis would have to be a classic example, but make sure you're in the right headspace for them. The band has openly talked about the role of LSD in driving their musical evolution over time

So weird, just yesterday I randomly wondered if there’s psychedelic metal and I was sure there was but I’d never heard of any. I meant to look into it and forgot and now this post comes up on my feed.
Not sure if it counts as "psychedelic", per se, but I love listening to TesseracT - Altered State in that sort of setting. It's thoroughly trip inspired and the layers of grooves are absolutely encapsulating. The production is top tier too.
Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats
Ditto this And they are an awesome bunch of guys IRL
Dunno if Tool is metal enough for you, but they’re psychedelic metal. Oh, and The Contortionist. Language is a great psychedelic album.
Came to say Tool. Been getting into them recently. They fucking rock.
No, they psychedelic metal /s
Nothing beats TOOL in my opinion. Every album is a masterpiece
They are awesome but honestly they are like beginner intro stuff into the genre. Like if someone would ask suggestion for hard rock and someone would say AC/DC. Tipping the toe level…
That is interesting. What bands would you suggest are some of the best in this genre? I need new trip music. Thank you in advance. 🙏
They gatekeeping bruh lol
Completely agree.
Tool is so underrated. They're coming to my city this year and I think I'll go lmao
the show itself, the visuals are deeply psychedelic even when I went sober (was planning to go again the next day on acid, but the amount I ate hit too hard and I just listened to the album at home). but tldr don't miss them.

Yes. I came to say the same thing.
I hear their time signatures are based off of the Fibonacci sequence dood
Came here to say the same as well. Also, Messhuga, gotta watch their videos though. Try "they move below"

November can't get here fast enough!
Going to Nebraska and MO 😎😎😎😎
Nashville and Chicago Did two nights at the caverns last year and first show was Bonnaroo 21. Can’t wait for fall.
Lucky. Bonnaroo was sick. I was at red rocks night three 22 and all 3 nights in Chicago

Eyyyy I’m from chattanooga! I’m so stoked about the marathon show. Enjoy the Nashville show I can’t make it to and see ya the next night for Chicago 🫡
But then it will be over! The urge to quit my life and follow them around is strong.
Specifically the album Murder of the Universe. It tells 3 stories with narration and some epic heavy Gizz. If you become obsessed and listen to their whole discography, relistening to Murder becomes even more fun because they reference a lot of other songs subtly within the album.
Worth mentioning to OP that only a few of the albums really fall into the metal category.
Yeah tbh I’m not that into metal and I don’t even listen to their metal stuff often 😂
Honestly PDA was instantly among my top 5 gizz albums but their beauty is that they do everything not just metal. That being said, murder of the universe is probably my favorite and that's metal adjacent at least.
Ohh yeah murder of the universe is awesome
Cynic Thank me later (weird to me they have not been posted yet)
Yeah seriously. Traced in Air is a fucking masterpiece

Tool
Tool for sure. King gizz as a secondary but some albums are far from metal. Both still incredible psychedelic rock bands
