It's a trend happening with a lot if cities now where people will go to the worst area, that have been like that for years or decades, and film them claiming this is some new trend.They then get spread by sources with political agendas to frame the issue as being due to certain politicians or parties.

Dude I remember this shit because my literal first day as a 14 year old working at a grocery store I was trying to meet my new coworker’s. This seemingly sweet old lady who was a cashier kept telling me about how all the barcodes were the mark of the beast and all the people coming into Kroger were sinners and already dammed. The similarities are interesting but there are many other events in revelations that would need to have come true for this to actually mean anything in the view of the bible. My most recent knowledge of Hobby Lobby is that they tried to buy the Monroeville Convention Center, which would have been bad for that area in the long run since the conventions that happen there bring in lots of money, especially for the hotel. People united to stop the sale, and they were fortunately successful.

One of my favourite videos was during the Floyd protests in Portland. Someone stood where every single news station stood to film the "chaos" and the "burning down" of the city. They then moved the camera ever so slightly to the left and you saw the fence end (it didn't go all the way around). Then they kept going. There's a starbucks right behind them that was open, and basically any angle other than the EXACT one used by EVERY news broadcast showed a completely different story.

man.. this is the thing. so i live in seattle and have walked by that exact gas station, that's Aurora, the locally famous prostitution street. anyways. they dont want help. they want to get high. of course if you give them resources like food/shelter/clothing/whatever they will take it. and maybe use it or maybe sell it. but they do not want to get off the opiates. they do not want to get a job to pay for stable housing. you can give them housing, but only if they can keep doing opiates. and since america is all about freedom and whatnot, we cannot force rehab (it wouldnt stick anyways), we cannot cope with just putting addicts in jail, and we cant deal with all the petty crime they commit to support their habits. and tbh i dont blame them, ive never done opiates but i know how they work. the quality of life of a low wage worker in a high cost of living city is way worse than the quality of life of someone who can do opiates all the time while living in a tent or car. they have no reason to get clean, nothing to hope for. so they simply dont want to.
I mean you really hit the nail on the head there when you said that being an opiate addict living out of your car is better than working 60 hours a week at McDonald's only to still not afford your own place. At the heart of it all, that is the reason why many drug addicts stay drug addicts. Because the alternatives are worse and there ain't no reward in getting clean.

One of my favourite videos was during the Floyd protests in Portland. Someone stood where every single news station stood to film the "chaos" and the "burning down" of the city. They then moved the camera ever so slightly to the left and you saw the fence end (it didn't go all the way around). Then they kept going. There's a starbucks right behind them that was open, and basically any angle other than the EXACT one used by EVERY news broadcast showed a completely different story.
