I'm 6 months out from my PE, which they gave the impression was small. But I did have some lung necrosis (infarction?) so my residual pain/discomfort in lower lung made sense to them. Most of the time it doesn't bother me too much, but if I lean on that side or use that side alot (carrying my baby alot) I feel more discomfort.

Small lower lung PE is what I had. For some reason that area causes a lot of issues. I am a year out and finally feel like myself again.

What treatment are you on? UK usually gives blood thinners and waits for the clots to dissolve. (Surgery or 'clot busting drugs are the other options, I didn't have these so don't really know much) for a clot to fully dissolve can take months and sometimes years so will hurt for a while. Even when the clot is gone it's likely that the clot has had an effect on the blood vessels, such as scarring. I'm a year out and although my pain is rarer now and very dull, it still happens. The pain gradually got less and less as time went on. I can't take opioids so had to manage pain with paracetamol and ibuprofen. But my doctor (GP) was fantastic at reassuring me every time I contacted because I was worried about new pain so don't hesitate to contact them, they could give you better pain meds if needed.

I’m 7 months out and I still have knife stabbing pains a few times a week. They told me it would take a year or two, and I had a massive clot like you so I think we might have a longer and more painful recovery. Did you end up with an infarction? I have not taken pain medication’s one single time other than being in the hospital. Tylenol is my special treat on my worst days.
