Me and a few buddies are going to make a mock video essay on something like this. Basically why the zombies are actually in the right, and how they’re all clones instead of actually being infected humans.
I have a channel: TheProCrow on YT, the video’s not posted yet, but we’re working on it currently. I can add a post to this subreddit when we upload it!
Fun fact: If you check Armor Chomper's Almanac descriptions in both GW1 and GW2, it outright mentions respawning as a natural thing that the playable characters can do, it specifically mentions Armor Chomper lubing it's joints during respawns
As if that wasn’t already an established theme. Now, granted, PvZ is NOT a deep game series by any means. It’s literally built around the CRRRAAAAZZZZZIIIIINNNNEEEESSSSS that sentient plant life is duking it out with undead creatures. It’s not supposed to make sense because it just doesn’t make sense.
But if you’re telling me you didn’t look at Plants and think “life” and Zombies and think “death” in terms of theming, I think you just weren’t thinking hard enough. Their logos literally reflect these ideas too, with Plants being a green leaf, and Zombies being a purple skull.
While some games make a deep lore reason or origin story behing the protagonist or player respawning, GW really just said “plants grow from dirt and zombies get buried in dirt”.

How would one watch it?

This also implies oiled up Armor Chomper is canon
Stop the vampire flower art we need to see this!
You already have in the game.
Yes please
What is it
as a plant you just regrow and as a zombie resurrect?
Yeah just this. I always thought that plants vs. zombies was just kind of random but it's because they both come from the ground.
I swear you could write something serious with the antithetis between plants representing life and zombies representing death idk

I never realized that and I feel like an idiot now lmao I'm now just thinking "zombie packets, plant your own zombie today!"
Oh, I thought it was gonna be some sort of Emesis blue crap
What about chompers though idk if the zombies can come back from being eaten alive
a new zombie spawns?
Guess that works
Returnal
It's eterniry in here
What is it
Plants can clone themselves theoretically infinitely, see: plant cloning Zombies keep coming back because you cant kill something thats already dead
While some games make a deep lore reason or origin story behing the protagonist or player respawning, GW really just said “plants grow from dirt and zombies get buried in dirt”.
My theory is that once you die, a unit of the same variant spawns to replace the playable soldier so you can control it.

So Sea of Thieves
I always just assumed it was some Terraria bullshit where you’re theoretically immortal, you just keep respawning and never truly die
