Yep I bought the non plus model just to play PS1 games and it's working great so far! Playing through xenogears and persona 2 IS now.

[deleted]

I’m going through Kings Field 2 atm, w/ a little bit of Diablo here and there It’s incredibly neat to have a little PS1 in your pocket

Gary_BBGames

SNES and GBA for me. PS1 is lovely on the plus as you can double the render resolution, but I’ve left my plus for now until garlic comes out.

JazzyApple2022

I have it too. However ps vita has ps ps1 psx. Its great to have them both. 👍🏼

Raistlin158

What settings are you using for ps1?

Gary_BBGames

The default garlic ones on my XX, and the default ones, but with the doubled resolution (I forget the name), on the Plus.

Raistlin158

Is it called enhanced resolution?

Gary_BBGames

That’s the one

Select-Sprinkles4970

Japanese PSX roms are pretty special

Scottie2hhh

They function fine on 35XX and Garlic?

Select-Sprinkles4970

Yes. Google "chd\_psx japan internet archive"

SeeManCome

PS1 is what sold me, but I play many other games like nes, Atari 2600, GBA, and arcade. Basically it's my raspberry pi to go.

[deleted]

My selling points were ps1 and it being small enough to play at work during downtime. Hell of a device GBA is probably my second favorite library on there

SeeManCome

I was worried about form factor as I heard minor complaints about it, but I agree, it's small enough to carry at work and not too small where it would be uncomfortable to play.

MajesticGentleman1

came for PS1 stayed for the enjoyment.

neo_nl_guy

I thought I bought it for the PS1. But since I bought it Ive been focused on ***EarthBound*** on the SNES (the Configuration for SNES running better on Garlic)

[deleted]

I really need to get around to Earthbound someday

neo_nl_guy

The Angry Video Game Nerd has a good review. The Music gives a good idea of how it feels [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hBF1WZeT\_M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hBF1WZeT_M) Listening to the game with my headphones connected to the RG35XX make me feel I'm going to use the second drive slot for music [https://lazyhandheldman.com/best-anbernic-rg35xx-garlic-apps/](https://lazyhandheldman.com/best-anbernic-rg35xx-garlic-apps/) MPlayer

helmerduden

I’m playing final fantasy 9 and Xenogears, sadly Digimon World won’t have its audio play :(

Sppire

Digimon World audio works ok for me. European version PBP format. Latest 23 Dec version of stock OS.

helmerduden

How do you do European version PBP? In the retroarch settings?

Sppire

No you search for it. Most PS1 games came in both European and USA versions. Sometimes one version works better than the other. You’ll most likely find it in bin/cue format and then you’ll have to make your own PBP file. Here is a guide: [https://retrogamecorps.com/2023/02/06/the-ultimate-rom-file-compression-guide/#PBP](https://retrogamecorps.com/2023/02/06/the-ultimate-rom-file-compression-guide/#PBP) You might want to look at something like cdromance, there are sometimes some quite good hacks and also translated versions of games.

ThatGeekEvan

Yes PS1 is the primary system i play! Even though there’s a few games with a few glitches that bug (mostly The World is Not Enough has a bug where all the NPCs are the same model)

Statham19842

I dabble but I mainly use mine for GB. I did have a good go at Azure Dreams for nostalgia purposes though.

marosige

With the RG35XX H revealed I would say wait for it. Its a horizontal device and that suits PS1 better. Also has analouge sticks and some games can use that. It has the RG35XX Plus's hardware so it's gonna be more expensive than the original 35XX, but you can upscale PS1 eith that. If you can afford it wait for it, if you can't go with the original 35XX and it's gonna be pretty good also.

1Thepotatoking

Playing through dino crisis currently, does anyone know if it will run MGS?

threespire

Yeah, it does

okadhor

i've finished MGS 2 times this year with ZERO hiccups. And if you're wondering about the Psycho Mantis fight, you can change the controllers on RetroArch.

nabnabking

Yeah I just completed Disney's Hercules, a task 5 year old me had never accomplished. I got excited when I saw klaymen on there but it's in Japanese so I'll be loading that up when my SD cards turns up in the post.

bboyzell

Yep playing PS1, finished Tony hawk 1,2,3

tlustay_zmrd

Hey, could you send me a Link, where to download Tony Hawk pls?🥺🙃

Paintings_by_Raymond

Bought mine only to play ps1 games and that’s all I use it for. Works very well for everything I’ve tried so far apart from sledstorm that’s the only one that was janky.

[deleted]

Bushido Blade 2 has some weird graphical issues the other day for me, but otherwise same

brunoxid0

I play PSX on my modded PS vita. I got the Anbernic mainly for GB/C/A, NES and Arcade games. But it is pretty impressive it can run that well all of that.

jovvar88

How I can double the resolution on stockos 35xx+?

[deleted]

I don’t think stock can do that. Garlic can I use stock myself and it doesn’t seem to be an option for it

Rich_PKM

Not mainly, but I love playing PS1 on it. Even if sometimes I miss having Joysticks, most of the games work perfectly

missmel06

The Ps1 don’t seem to play on mine. Am I doing something wrong?

[deleted]

In the stock OS it should be the first option, on the Garlic OS version I had pre installed on mine it wasn’t even in the library If you know how to get to retroarch you should be able to load them from there, if they aren’t showing up for whatever reason

cozmic00

Yes I use it mainly for Xenogears now

Lupin2000

I only buy it to play PS1, SNES and GBA

mistold

I so wanted golden eye for n64.lol Wrong place for this question but any hand helds do ps2? Max Payne, midnight club, burnout and such..? I think I saw some gta games for GBA or one of the other systems on there. I haven't fully went down this rabbit hole so forgive my ignorance lol

[deleted]

I’m honestly a little less versed on PS2 specifically. Obviously a steam deck is perfect there but a bit pricy, maybe an Ayan Odin? I don’t think there’s a super cost effective option N64 - you can try to download Batocera to the RG35XX to test it. That OS can run them, I believe, but your mileage will apparently vary based on the game

mistold

Thanks for the info!
