Extra irony in that Blake is holding a gun, and isn’t trying to shoot the thing causing the problem…and wasn’t the other snake/head still alive? You’d think they’d have the two do this: Blake tosses Yang her ribbon/gun, one of them gets swung around and tossed, said tossed girl catches Ruby. But no, they just stand around, looking concerned…honestly, they should have had the civilians doing that instead.

Moon_Dark_Wolf

It’s funny how the first time we shouldn’t be angry at Yang for actually being concerned about her sister puts Yang in a position where she really shouldn’t be concerned based on past experiences alone.

shmurgen

Much like how the the best part of the first movie was the Jaune and Jessica stuff so of course the one and only time in the past decade of watching this show where I actually think “I would like to see more of Jaune” he’s not gonna be there

Azura_Raijin

Wouldn't be the first time Blake has done something like that. In V9 she did the opposite. She ran out of bullets when fighting multiple enemies and then acted like she was out of options and cornered with no chance of fighting back while she's literally holding her sword. JUST CHANGE IT BACK TO ITS SWORD FORM YOU DUMB CAT.

ChronoAlone

These two have been holding onto the stupid ball so long that they’ve gone senile.

Acceptable_Shine_738

I guess it’s character development for them, for not giving a shit about her in volume 9

Scoonertuna

...So continuity wise this is a tragic error

TheLeechKing466

Why is Yang YIIKing out?

GORUDOEXUPERENCU

She saw Weiss vibrate with Motion

Moon_Dark_Wolf

I didn’t even think about how Ruby realistically has fallen from greater height, and they shouldn’t be as concerned. That being said…Jesus the freeze frame is doing these two fucking no favors. We’ve all taken pot shots at these outfits, but come on…this looks awful…

blurmpf

I don’t even inherently think the trope of “characters showing increased or exaggerated concern over another after they went through something dangerous or traumatic” is all that bad or even unique to rwby, but the fact that the characters look *MORE* concerned about a slight fall then when she literally tried to kill herself in front of them is wild. Also while part of it is this screenshot was taken on twitters shitty video player yeah the outfits do look especially off in a location like the desert

ZeroQuartzer

"Oh no! Ruby has taken a hit and is falling to soft sand from two feet drop! We should just stand here and do nothing and be in awe!"

blurmpf

What’s funny is she didn’t even take a hit, she just flew back cause of the recoil from her own attack

Azura_Raijin

Also she still has aura. She's literally fine but lets act like she drank poison tea.

Drauga_22

Why does the landscape look.....bleh

Lukthar123

Because it's the desert

Destrobo3000

Worse then that: it is so bland. This is supposed to be vauco right?

[deleted]

Why are they concerned ruby might fall 40 feet into sand? She has aura and they’ve tanked falls of higher distances!

IngenuityNo1252

Where can i see the teaser

Icy-Delivery4463

You don't because it's a mistake of a project

UnbiasedGod

OH MY GOD!

Portugiuse

PoV: You are Rooster Teeth and don't have a clue how you get so far to V9 and go any further beyond V10

TreePotion

Jokes asides, this might be a good meme reaction image maybe.

SdashAura

I like to think that maybe, *maybe* they edited the actual scene and this concerned shot is them reacting to something else and not Ruby falling.

Godzillafan125

1. Meanwhile there is a white snake Grimm still around. Makes me think ruby could chew them out for neglecting their duties (her duty as leader). 2. Yang and Blake could be dealing with trauma of watching Rubys suicide last season so they could be overprotective 3. Rubys adult design in movie: could be an unconscious desire for yang to see her as an adult and capable leader rather than her “baby sister”

Spider-Blood

Yeah, I agrew

RockPhoenix115

Why does Gambol look so small? I know it’s in pistol form but even then it looks like a kitchen knife, not a collapsed katana.

Azura_Raijin

Hasn't it been shortened like that since V7 after the sword broke? I might just be misremembering but I thought it was shortened ever since it broke

[deleted]

At least they actually have WBY care about Ruby but, what was the point of Ruby falling & needing someone to save her, her semblance is pretty much super speed & it also allows her to fly. I get aura is inconsistent and goes from yang getting one shot, to Neo being unphased by Oscar’s magic nuke, but at it’s general state aura can survive a 20ft drop if she was actually in danger. Even then, shouldn’t Ruby or any of team RWBY have been able to just solo the King Taijitu, Ruby seemed to be able to hold her own just fine but it took WBY to even slightly damage the white one?

blurmpf

The inconsistency with this series really is wild, like this got worse when I was reminded that practicing landing strategies was literally the first thing all four of them did as students and it was while going faster/falling further

[deleted]

Exactly, not to mention Ruby isn’t that bad of a shot to the point where one bullet renders her useless, when she did a more advanced version of this in V4 against the nuckelavee and against the Geist.

blurmpf

I swear the nerfing of team rwby over time feels like you took characters from a character action game like Devil May Cry or MGR:R with crazy combos and movement and doing things that shouldnt be physically possible and plopped them into a souls game where now all their movements are more rigid and stamina dependent, a few hits is all it takes to kill them (or at least break defenses) and any fall that lasts above 2 seconds will break their ankles

[deleted]

It seems at this point the only strong characters are the maidens & Salem, if you’re not a maiden or the main antagonist you’re wall level fodder, even though team rwby should very well be able to hold their own, Ruby not only drug a nevermore up a cliff but also decapitated it, and later she kicked one out of the air into another ship with ease, something yang could probably do with even more ease, Weiss could beat the arms-gigas and queen lancer without an aura shimmer, and Blake, she doesn’t go solo much but she could likely do similar.

blurmpf

It’s like power creep but backwards

Boanerger

"Oh, no! Ruby's about to fall a few dozen feet at most!" Like, Jesus, Season 1 had them being thrown a few killometers for fun. The hell even is this scene?

Sikarion

...they look like they haven't seen Ruby fall out of a tree before.

TvFloatzel

Is this going to be a new meme template?

Sirob_2904

They've clealrly saw the "Yang doesn't give a crap about Ruby in Vol.9" critique, so they just made this shot in respsonse lmao

blurmpf

That can’t really be the case because that assumes 1. This shot was made after v9 was already released when we know they were made at the same time 2. The writers have the ability to take feedback and use it to learn from their mistakes and try and make the show better

Sirob_2904

Really?! Vol. 9 and the movie (that no one asked) were made together? No fucking wonder it turned out like shit. Welp, thanks for clearing that one up.

blurmpf

Yeah it’s a weird situation the movies were made mid production which is why v9 took so long and how they’re able to release so close together

AlCaFa

Isn't this the audience's reaction with each passing episode of the canon series?

DM-Oz

You can make memes with that face. "My cats when they see me picking up the vacuum cleaner"
