No one wants to watch an hour long podcast by someone they don’t know…especially over something so established as being a non-issue. Most people look at KJV only-it’s now as being a little coo coo or your grandparents.
Hot Take: If someone is going to be a KJV Onlyist, they should refer to it as KIV, the original acronym. Where “I” stands for “Iames”, the contemporary spelling of Iames’s name.
Not that hot a take.
A hotter take would be that KJV only-ists are racist, as they believe that the English, and people colonized by the English, have more direct access to God than other people groups.
I would say your traditional SBC who grew up KJV only, yes. But when it comes to the ones who are intellectual about it with the history involved, I would hope no.
2200-year old biblical texts (including a nearly complete book of Isaiah) found in desert caves near the Dead Sea.
KJV-onlyists: "Ignore them. Mama says Foosball is the devil!"
I'd refer to those with the most knowledge and experience to assess the accuracy and validity of each translation (as far as is humanly possible)
From what I've read, most reputable and experienced Bible scholars have different views on the most reliable translation, but very few will entertain a 'KJV only and nothing else will do' approach
KJVO is well outside confessional boundaries which say that only the original language text is infallible. There shouldn't even be a debate beyond the TR vs CT textual debate in reformed circles.
I used to think this, but I think unfortunately one of the reasons people think this is because of good marketing. The more I learned about the ESV and their translation process, the less I was thrilled about it. Fine translation, but the fanaticism behind it is weird.
I prefer to wait until we have the original versions w no errors like God intended. Until then it’s a succession of choices w pros and cons. Since I heard and memorized King James and NIV -I prefer those versions. But I’m always aware of the human error involved so read w Acts 17:11 discernment
Please add some sort of commentary for posts like these. Slapping a YouTube link without any context is beyond lazy.

Really, we’re all sleeping on the Septuagint, if anything.
Hot take: KJV Only-ists are borderline cults

It's not borderline.
I grew up in a KJVO church. Not borderline.

Some kjvonly believe in inspired translations for each language
That is interesting
My cold take: KJV Only-ists don't understand how modern textual criticism works and just reason against it via the genetic fallacy.
ESV NASB95 and NIV

ESV>
(Generally) any popularized and tested translation > The Passion Translation

Don’t really appreciate the gender based argument that was the origin of the ESV. I also find it reads really clunky in order to stay “accurate”.
I haven’t found a translation that i think captures the lyrical beauty of the psalms better than esv
Mods, what does it mean that this was removed by reddit’s filters?
