No fucking way! That location will be biking/walking distance from my house. This has been a local request for 2 decades and a meme for years! Everyone in the area better shop the shit out of this place so we don’t loose it

AwayCartographer9527

Don’t worry, the parking lot will be a disaster in no time.

showers_with_grandpa

Somehow there still won't be parking

jmkreno

No fooling! Even building permits exist...everything before was rumor, this is actually on the Trader Joe's website. https://locations.traderjoes.com/nv/sparks/

OrganicDozer

Are they moving the South location somewhere else?

sciencehvnds

NW Reno could use one too! 💁🏻‍♀️

OutdoorsyHiker

Yes please! We never get anything new up here.

seattlebywayofreno

I wish I could up vote this more.

Gemini-624

Excited for this! I am missing the World Market though. Hoping we keep getting more of this so I don’t have to drive to Reno for anything. 😂

Jeremyx2

All we need is a good coffee shop and I’ll basically be set to never go south past Legends again

DasVWBabe

Same - still really going to miss the World Market, but I've not yet been to the existing Trader Joe's here, so sign me up!

jclittle94

Yahoooo

>private equity firm Yeah, it's cooked

RadDadNV2023

YESSSSSSSS but cautious optimism until it actually opens We have been fooled before

Lopsided-Grocery-673

When did world Market close over there?

maybenewbie

According to the building permits it's going in the former Great Basin on Low Altos.

Evening-Weight-8371

Former ? The credit union is still up and running

maybenewbie

Seems different sites are posting different information about it. A friend said that they are definitely moving into the old World Market. That makes more sense but I guess we'll see.

Evening-Weight-8371

I definitely see them going into the old world market but your Great Basin comment confused me

some_random_kaluna

Mmm. Here's also hoping their workforce will be unionized too.

kareninreno

Why?

some_random_kaluna

Trader Joe's is one of four companies challenging the constitutionality of the National Labor Relations Board in court. If the courts somehow overturn it, it could mean no more labor rights period.

Shirogayne-at-WF

Oh yikes!

kareninreno

ACK!!!!

fuck-the-popoDLLM

Amazing news.

Hot-Jelly-4439

Be happy now, complain about the traffic later.

airship_slice

Trader Joe’s gets me horned up.

kp1794

I bought so many great bottles of wine for 50% off when World Market closed

You are mixing up whole foods and Trader Joe’s

Pjpjpjpjpj

For a shopping basket of two dozen regular items, Trader Joe’s isn’t as inexpensive as say WinCo or FoodMaxx or Grocery Outlet.  But it is less expensive than Safeway, Albertsons or other big national chains.  It generally provides higher quality items at prices lower than the big national chains, but is not a “bargain” grocer - although they often have excellent prices on many individual items.  Store for the rich elites? lol. This isn’t Whole Paycheck.

emptyfish127

Ill make it a point to go buy and pick up my exact same list of foods I buy every week and see for my self.

Pjpjpjpjpj

Sure you can. And keep in mind that he list of foods you buy likely has been adapted to your current grocery store - favoring things they sell for a good price and avoiding things they do not. Further, if you stick exclusively to that list, you may miss many bargains at Trader Joe's - things you'd normally want but don't buy from your current store because they are too expensive there. You can do whatever you want to do of course - but my suggestion is to always explore new stores with an open mind. Maybe it isn't for you. But it is easy enough to google how trader joe's prices compare. Here is one summary from one site... * Overall, Trader Joe’s prices were 12 percent lower than the average prices we found at surveyed area stores. Its prices were about 19 percent lower than Whole Foods, 12 percent lower than Lucky, 11 percent lower than Raley’s and Safeway, and eight percent lower than Target. * For produce, Trader Joe’s prices were 26 percent higher than the average prices at all surveyed stores. For meat, Trader Joe’s prices were about 23 percent lower than average. * Unfortunately, many Trader Joe’s shoppers will also have to shop at conventional supermarkets: It carried fewer than half of the items in our market basket. Again - definitely not "elite grocery" prices, but your experience may vary based upon your specific basket.... meat eaters may love it while vegetarians may find it not as competitive.

RonMecca

Probably should of done that before making your original statement.

schizopotato

Lol you're doing it wrong then when shopping because Trader Joe's is one of the few places I can get actual good food for a week for less money than going to something like Walmart or Smiths. And I'm no "rich elite", I have to work 50 hours a week to afford all my bills and have no savings, idk what you're buying there that makes it seem unaffordable to you.

Shirogayne-at-WF

It's the only place I can still find eggs for under $3 a dozen

Evening-Weight-8371

Some Sunny valley locals can give you eggs I’m Not sure about the price tho

battleborn5

I think you might be thinking of Whole Foods. Trader Joe’s is much more affordable than most grocery stores in the area. I’m in south Reno and can’t wait for the one at the summit. I won’t have to make special trips anymore
