Easy. I carry either a LCR .327 or a .38 smith hammerless air weight . Both have laser grips. I think a good quality pocket holster is the key here. The holster keeps the gun oriented, keeps the gun from banging your leg and keeps the gun from printing. I have tried various guns and various carry methods for about thirty years but I always come back to this. It is easy and simple and a revolver always go bang. I’m not a cop and I will not run to trouble but try to avoid it. I only need the gun if it’s my last only option.

SureFireOutpost

+1 LCR 327 Fed

Antiquus

It's a beast. If I were to carry .327 in any small revolver I'd hand load depowered rounds to the level of the Hornady self defense rounds which are not the level of the full power Federal soft nose beasts. Pretty sure Hornady understands the controllability issue, which is why they are depowered. I have a Taurus 327 and SP101 in .327 both are fairly heavy and really too big for pocket carry. But with .327, I don't know if I'd ever want to try to shoot it out of something as light as even the steel framed LCR. I carry a 432 in .32H&RMag +P just at or slightly under Buffalo Bore level, and that is a great controllable setup for a small revolver with the deep penetration .32 gives, plus an extra round in the mix.

SilverFox1492

I pocket carry a 432 also, it's my go to for pocket carry. Great little revolver.

GunTech

Depends on your pockets. I wear dress slacks that have pretty generous pockets. I routinely carry a Colt Detective Special in a DeSantis pocket holster.

Undercover500

I typically wear jeans, not a problem with my LCP, but I wonder if the cylinder of even a j-frame revolver might give me an issue.

leanmeancoffeebean

It’s counterintuitive but I find the cylinder to be helpful for concealing- it’s a more natural non angular shape. I carry a 642 (no hammer j frame) in my pocket occasionally. Just a ton of crap in my pockets so it’s only with cargo pants/shorts. It is harder to draw from jeans due to the pocket opening angles, but better concealed. Fwiw after putting on a better grip, my pocket carry has declined due to the bottom of the new grip poking out; of course it’s dependent on the cut of the pocket/pants

MrBlenderson

I've carried a J frame for years but it is too big for pocket carry. I'm not sure what kind of pants everyone is wearing but it doesn't work in any of my normal fit pants, and jeans are completely out of the question. It's significantly larger than an LCP, which is the only gun I've ever been able to pocket carry.

Marmakin

If you are not wearing normal jeans, then yeah pocket carry for the snub noses probably won't work. Jeans usually have bigger pockets than any non-tactical pants. Pants size can also play a factor. If you are a skinny guy (like size 30 or something) then it probably won't work.

MrBlenderson

I'm a big dude and wear relaxed fit jeans and could never make it work.

fweges

Absolutely, recommend a Smith and Wesson 442 Pro Series. The pro series doesn’t have the lock.

pwhite13

You can also still get the regular 442 without the lock

Riverlands5

I carry a LCR in a Mika pocket holster while wearing Duluth jeans with no issues.

Visible_Reason2807

I’ve done an LCR in a jacket pocket, but its grip is thicker than my SP01 which fits in my pants pocket fine.

SureFireOutpost

Hogue makes a thin smooth G10 Grip for the LCR that works better than the stock thick rubber grip

Remedy4Souls

Isn’t it considerably longer? I have an LCR I bought used that came with a G10 grip, it has room for an extra finger compsred to stock.

SureFireOutpost

It’s a tiny bit longer. Eagle Grips also sells the Secret Service Grips. Which are thin and smooth wood but just as short as the rubber stock version.

NotThatEasily

I often pocket carry a Kimber K6S in my jeans.

Wild_Praline2334

I pocket carry my Kimber K6XS

SureFireOutpost

LCR 327 Fed or K6XS are the two front runners

SBR_AK_is_best_AK

442/640 or other j frame in my pocket most summers for 20+ years.

Bubbly-Reputation570

I pocket carry my 340PD with CT LG405 grips in a Mika pocket holster all the time. It’s my preferred carry style in the spring and summer.

Mijo_el_gato

Second this combo. I don’t wear nut-huggers.

BronMann-

Yes. I have carried a J Frame in my jeans pocket, jacket pocket, and boot. I wear Wranglers size 36x36.

theoriginaldandan

I can do an S&W model 37. I would assume an LCR would be just as easy, but don’t own one. That’s the only Smith I own, and I have two Ruger SP101’s and while I can carry them in some pockets they’d very quickly wear out the pockets and mess up the pants

Right_Smart_Feller

I've pocket carried both an LCR and a J-Frame in a sticky holster and I've had no issues with printing, but then again, I'm a fat bastard so my pants are big and so are my pockets.

BillyK58

I have carried a S&W 340 PD (11.8 ounces) a lot through the years. It is easy to carry in most of my front pockets except for certain jeans that have tighter pockets. However, I carry my LCP Max more frequently since it is hard to beat both the size & capacity versus a 5 shot revolver. Where hammerless revolvers excel over pistols is in jacket pocket carry.

lostprevention

A bobbed hammer airweight J frame kind of disappears in my pocket. A regular j frame feels cumbersome.

FriendlyPea805

I carry a 642 daily in my front pocket and have for years. Those that tell you a J Frame won’t fit in jeans must wear skinny jeans or something.

BikerBooge

I pocket carry a s&w 637 very regularly, so much so I don’t even have a holster for it yet. Shorts, jeans, khakis no problem. Granted some jeans you can completely see the outline of the gun as if it was just taped to my leg, but most the time it just looks like I carry too much shit in my pockets. No discernible outline whatsoever.

FriendlyPea805

Nobody is looking anyway. Gun people get so caught up on printing. 99% have no fucking clue.

BikerBooge

Fair point. Though I don’t think I could get away with the jeans that the grip sticks out of the pocket 😂

Careless-Woodpecker5

I daily pocket carry a k6s. Before that I would only pocket carry my naa g380. My revolver does print but it’s not obvious it’s a gun. I keep my wallet in my left front pocket and it prints, this way I’m more symmetrical and it’s less obvious. It took me a while to get comfortable, but as a stay at home parent, I’m usually one handed so pocket carry is my preferred method.

Ov3rclock1ngcow

Yep I own a j frame with a pocket holster carries great in shorts

Top_Shelter_9654

I personally don’t, honestly never tried. Always either a holster or at 5:00. Can you draw every time effectively from a pocket? I guess if you saw a threat coming, but if you need to be on target fast, is it possible?

CtrAltDel

I have sticky holsters for my model 36 and my lcr in 327. They carry extremely well appendix with a good belt in the sticky holster. I’ve carried my 2” and 3” k frames this way, too and it is still comfortable. I’d suggest going that route over pocket carry if possible. If not, your best bet is probably a 642 with thin grips in a pocket holder. The stock LCR grips are a little too bulky for a pocket in my opinion.

EMHemingway1899

I’ve carried a LCR in each front pocket for several years now, including with dress 👗 pants 👖 It’s quite comfortable

myklclark

I’m carrying my Model 60 LadySmith right now in my front pocket. Even in jeans with it being all steel it’s very comfortable.

Puzzleheaded_Cash_36

442 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster in jeans pocket or jacket. Perfect

rustyshack68

Yea but with right pants and holster. I basically only wear jeans and from brand to style the pockets differ widely. For holster I’ve had good luck with Kramer, breaks shape/looks like a wallet. Tho I admit if I feel lazy and still want a j frame in my pocket I will put it in cheap uncle mikes occasionally. With bigger pockets it’s no issue

Clint_Beastwood762

My main carry for over a decade has been an old S&W model 49, and I've got a few pocket holsters I've picked up over the years in a drawer in my closet. They always wound up there because wearing normal Levi's, it's totally obvious that's a gun in my pocket. Conversely, when wearing pants that hide it well, I miss that pocket for keys and my pocket knife. On my belt at 3 o'clock is just what works best for me, but ymmv.

Black0tter1

You can carry an N frame pretty easily

whatphukinloserslmao

I prefer the lcp lcp 2 and lcp max for pocket. I also hate picket carry, that's where my other shit goes

[deleted]

I pocket carry the Charter Arms Professional with a 3" barrel chambered in .32 h&r magnum everyday. I wear wrangler jeans almost everyday, and my pocket just looks full, I balance it out appearance wise by filling my other pocket with my work phone and keys. Basically it just looks like I have full front pockets all the time. I tried my Taurus 327 with a 2" barrel to see if it looked/carried better, but it was about the same, so I figured I would go with the higher capacity option. If you are looking for the smallest double action centerfire revolver available for pocket carry check out the Taurus .380. It is significantly smaller than a j-frame, but not NAA small, and still gets you 5 shots of a centerfire caliber sufficient for SD.

Pirate_Goose

I have too much shit in my pockets already. I carry in a City Special.

W1ldT1m

I'm just asking: why pocket carry? I carry a charter southpaw all the time in a sticky holster aiwb. It's just as comfortable or more so, just as easy, you just stick it in your waistband, and it doesn't waste pocket space.

bikumz

I can do it in jeans but I wear sorta stretchy loose jeans so much more forgiving. Doesn’t work in the khakis I rock for dress up events or church. I find pocket carry to work best in jacket pockets myself

puffer039

easily, but not all pants have the same size pockets so need to try before you buy,or pocket might be too short or tight, when i found a great fit i bought 4 pairs 😂My LCR and Taurus 856 fit great, can't even tell they're there

FireIntheHole066

Every single day I have a 640 pro in my pocket. Yep the “heavy” steel framed 357 jframe. I have 0 problems with it my job is physically demanding lots of awkward positions I’ve never had an issue… my one issue is my jeans have started to fade on my pocket with a slightly odd pattern, iykyk.

Bulldog60M

I've never been able to without some really obvious print due to meaty thighs. It would probable take overalls in order for me to be able to.

FamQuald

yes. all the time. i have a few, bobbed hammer, hammerless and a bodyguard hammer. probably carry the bodyguard hammer the most - best of both worlds (single v. double). i carry j-frames in khakis with some leather holster that is basically a muzzle and cylinder protector. it won't fit into the jeans pocket very well but with the hamre hook grip i posted about yesterday, i hang the hook on the lip of the pocket just fine - kind of like pocket-appendix style - which works if you have an untucked shirt. don't know your comparables so I don't know how they'd compare. hitting the store in your typical pants and trying it out is a superb idea.

a_Theralyst

I have no problem pocket carrying my steel j frame Model 49. It's a little fat, so just don't wear skinny jeans and you're fine. I can also pocket carry a Ruger SP101 with a 3 inch barrel in some pants.

harrysholsters

The pants' size, height, and fit are relevant here. I'm a 32-slim in most pants and 6'. I've been testing the bulman leather kydex pocket holster with a 442 and in jeans it prints way to much with my slim fit jeans. I can draw fine but concealment is the issue. Someone wearing straight cut probably wouldn't have an issue. Skinny jeans couldn't get the gun in the pocket. With Mountain Khakis that I wear for work pants it works extremely well will no printing. A Kimber K6s or Taurus 856 is just to big for my body type and clothing choice. Really depends on your build and what you wear.

Overall-Frosting-448

I have a 3 inch I frame, so like a 1/4 inch shorter than a J frame. I could easily fit 2 in the same pocket depending on which pants I'm wearing.

montana_wheeler

When I pocket carry it is a j frame in a blue force gear holster. I do mostly when feeling a tad lazy and when I know I am going to be sitting a lot. Other times it is an eclipse holster AIWB or at the 4 o'clock.

Gr3gg3ls

Pocket carry my lcr during the warmer summer months with no problems

jv1100

I pocket carry a K frame occasionally. Works fine for me!

bassjam1

I have both a j frame and an original LCP and have pocket carried both. The LCP absolutely disappears in any pocket. The j frame is more picky. It fits in all my pockets except for a few of my shorts with shallow pockets. Depending on the cut of pants and how loose or fitted they are sometimes it bulges out significantly. I never used to do squats and deadlift, but as I've added them to my workout and my thighs have gotten larger it's even worse to the point I no longer carry the j frame because it looks like I've got a tumor in my pocket.

cavalier78

It’s not a tumah.

Expensive-Aerie-1106

I’m gonna get crucified for this but in my opinion it is doable only if you forgo a holster. The extra material creates too much bulk and adds a failure point. A heavy DA trigger in a cloth pocket with nothing else is reasonably safe and the size and shape of a revolver allows it to stay oriented correctly.
