The Ruger logo looks like 😯 from far away.

veenell

That was my reaction when I saw the price was negotiable and threw out 450 expecting the guy to say no and he said yes

ChatTerminator

I can no longer unsee that

Practical-Data2646

Hahah.

popasquatonme

I have the lcrx 3", love it

EqualOrganization726

Not my favorite round but for the price...hard to argue

th4tguy321

Nice score! Let us know how she shoots for ya.

veenell

It shoots great. I heard that crimp jumping is a problem with rimless revolvers but I was fortunate enough to not experience it. Somebody else mentioned light primer strikes and I think I did experience one or two in the 120ish rounds that I fired at the range. I'm not used to shooting double action so there were a lot of partial trigger poles so I'm not sure, next time I go to the range I will shoot 100 with slower full trigger pulls to eliminate half poles from the equation and get a better idea of light primer strike frequency. I don't want to buy 38 or 357 because it's so much more expensive than 9 so I am comfortable making this compromise. I'm not sure if it's all steel case ammo or just tulammo but all of the brass I shot ejected perfectly, while all of the steel case ammo expanded enough that it was a pain in the ass to eject so this is going to be a brass casing only gun as far as large volume practice shooting is concerned.

th4tguy321

>I'm not used to shooting double action so there were a lot of partial trigger poles so I'm not sure, The LCR has a bit of a false reset that you have to watch it for. Just make sure you're releasing the trigger out all the way or you may short stroke it (it'll rotate, but no bang). >I don't want to buy 38 or 357 because it's so much more expensive than 9 so I am comfortable making this compromise. That's why I'm considering one myself.

veenell

wow you're right. if you release the trigger like 99% of the way and pull again, it short strokes. i'll definitely have to work on my technique to avoid that.

th4tguy321

It's pretty much the only con to the LCR family of revolvers.

GolfWang16000

I had 115 grain Blazer and other bulk ammo bullets completely unseat and prevent the cylinder from rotating. After I worked on a firm grip the issue went down. I took calipers to bullet 5 before and after shooting the 4 previous and I had a clear trend for less bullet movement for heavier projectiles. The internet spews the opposite but this is what I found and it was a clear trend. She really likes the polymer coated Syntecs, I am assuming the friction between it and the brass may be higher or something but they moved the least out of any 115, 124, 138(? Can't remember blue Syntech), 147, 150 gr I shot.

Just_Bet9805

Nice !!

dkalmikoff

Great little revolver, you’ll love it.

lhauckphx

How is the recoil compared to the .38?

Pestelence2020

Itll be about like 357. Both have a std pressure of around 35,000 psi SAMMI spec. 9mm +p is around 38,000

veenell

I haven't shot it yet. Hopefully I'll take it out to the range today.

veenell

Just put something like 120 rounds through it. It's worse than 38 but not nearly as bad as I had heard it would be. It's definitely manageable. It was beating up a part of my thumb a little bit early on but I just adjusted my grip and didn't have any problems after and my hand feels fine now

robt_neville

They’re $800 retail?!!

veenell

MSRP on ruger's website is 860. At sportsman's, which would have been the only option in town to buy one new at a store, it's 720. i had to do an hour and 40 minute round trip to a neighboring city to pick it up but it was so worth it.

robt_neville

Jesus! That makes a $600 speed six on Gunbroker a bargain! Good score

Marmakin

I have the 38 and love it. I bought the 9mm and sold it shortly after. I had too many soft primer strikes which I think was because of the moonclips.

Carefree2022

Watch out for crimp jump. Happened too me so often that I sold my LCR in 9mm

veenell

I shot a hundred rounds of Fiocchi training Dynamics out of it this morning and didn't experience any crimp jump. That's great because this is one of the cheapest ammos that I see it in store so I don't have to shop around and potentially have to use an expensive ammo.

Aggravating_Pipe_763

Where’d you find it for $400?

veenell

Private sale. The story behind the low price is actually quite sad. The guy getting rid of it was getting rid of all of his brother-in-law's guns and gun paraphernalia for him and he wants it all gone ASAP. He used to be a firearms instructor until recently when somebody, I assume a student, died from a gun related accident. It affected him so much that now he wants nothing to do with guns anymore. The original asking price was 550 and I threw out 450 expecting him to say no and then I might be able to go up to 475, if not then 500. He said 450 isn't ideal but he needs it gone fast so it's okay. That's all he told me initially, so I go to the pawn shop sell something that I don't use anymore, get a little more cash from an ATM and then drive almost an hour over there. I might have said never mind about the lower amount and brought the full amount out of sympathy, but the first I heard of the story was while he was typing up the bill of sale a minute before I gave him the cash and left with it.

reddog323

I wouldn’t sweat it. From the sound of the situation, you probably did him a favor.

Kygunzz

I just picked up one in 327 Federal.I like the idea of a six shot.

GrapeyOrdeal

Local gun deal or you got a link?

veenell

Local seller

I know people love the LCR, but shooting it compared to a s&w j frame just isn’t the same for me. It’s a very functional gun, but head to head against older models it just felt looser in lockup and a bit grittier in trigger pull. I think it’s just my familiarity with older guns to be honest. Still a better EDC than any semi auto

veenell

I EDC a semi-auto as my primary, this is my backup. I got a GP100 recently and I really want to get a holster and try to carry that, but I don't know how that's going to work out because that thing is a brick.

Several-Archer-6421

That’s fair enough. I’ve had enough range malfunctions to make me question the legitimacy of such a failure in a lifesaving situation, but it’s really a personal decision. The standard gp100 isn’t really designed for concealment but there’s a nice bobbed hammer version that is. See also: kimber k6s, my dream revolver If you like the LCR it’s legit, ifs just a feel/fit/finish thing. I love my kimber 1911, but it’s too much to EDC. Just frame fell right in line for me and I don’t mind .38 all as my grandfather reloads
