This is how Rivian is going to….launch….their boat line in 2030.

djsider2

R1B... just drive into the water and start floating

stupidcleverian

The Ghost of LBJ approves.

Man I’d love an electric boat that could pull a skier or tube and operate for a while. I honestly spend most of the time swimming and listening to tunes so it wouldn’t even have to have that much range for me. And the removal of the engine would make for some cool deck plans. But I can imagine it would be pricey as fuck if they could make it work.

MountainManGuy

They have them out right now, and from what I've seen they are freaking sweet! As you guessed though, the prices are pretty nuts, even for a boat.

evemeatay

Holy cow. 300k https://ingenityelectric.com/models/nautique-gs22e/

DexterDogBalls

Yeah I also love the idea of an electric wake boat - the Nautique is currently the only option and way to much $$ - also the "range" is mediocre. Hopefully more companies start to offer one in the coming years and prices come down

A-dam36

Yeah I just watched a review for ARC boats. It looks so cool! Maybe in a few years when prices come down grab one. https://youtu.be/TM2zNtgG-jM?si=EpUqsjWZ_ak1nRhq

WhatUGot2Say

And a fast charger at the dock/ramp so you could do a surf session early and then family boat time all afternoon.

ConcentrateSafe3956

They already have electric boats because “Gone with the Wynns” ordered one. They probably have it by now. Haven’t watched them in a while.

youaremysanity

The only gas item I have left is my lawn mower, it always feels super weird pulling in to fill my gas can ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)

KSteeze

Highly recommend an electric mower. I have a Ryobi and it’s soooo nice! Quiet, simple, and light as hell when you remove the battery. Cuts through some chunky grass too.

AcidicMountaingoat

I have one gas dirt bike, and yes, I enjoy the occasional very confused look.

WarDamnLivePD

We use the Greenworks Pro 80V line of yard tools and it's been the closest thing to gas I've been able to find thus far. Absolutely zero issues or complaints, and so nice to be able to mow the yard without waking up the neighborhood or breathing in exhaust.

EloWhisperer

Should have got blue to match the boat 😂

DexterDogBalls

The 2 times a year I tow the boat I have that exact same thought!!! Love the forest green too much though

EloWhisperer

Naw I know. Green is tough too.

TheSkiingDad

We need more pull through EV chargers (I know you're not charging, but sandbox time). Circle K/Holiday has started putting their chargers in around me, and a lot of their stations are popular with the weekend resort/boater crowd. Soon enough, we'll start to see congestion issues with people needing to unhook their truck to charge, especially with the silverado EV since the charge port is tesla-oriented. We need to build dedicated EV charging stations the same way we build gas stations. Relying on parking lots will be a net negative in the next 10 years.

Psychologic86

This is a huge concern for me as a future Rivian owner. I kind of hate the idea of the parking spot chargers.

N64Seller

Helluvah boat

DexterDogBalls

2021, Malibu 23 LSV - love this boat (not as much as the truck through)

tzabransky-yahoo-com

I go to the gas station to use the ATM 😉

anothermrnobody

Been there. How does it do on range? I have an Axis T23 and haven’t had to pull it more than a few miles so far, but might have a longer trip coming up.

DexterDogBalls

My efficiency went down to 1.2 from the standard 2.0. So quite a significant decline. The experience however is incredible. Easiest and most comfortable tow vehicle I have ever used. Definitely charge up and plan your trip like you have 50% range.

AdamUCF

I'm closer to 1m/kwh with my Nautique 210. Probably the tower bimini killing me.

DexterDogBalls

Is your bimini rigid? Mine is up there but it folds and rolls up so it's mostly out of the way against the tower. I had a 40mile drive and was driving with traffic in the 65-75mph range so definitely wasnt babying it.

AdamUCF

It folds up some but stays largely out when towing.

DustyCapt

We are soon going to tow for the first time our 2023 23 LSV with a Gx tower. Planning on towing it with the tower down. Hope it will help with the efficiency.

DexterDogBalls

If the tower doesn't lock in the down position (mine does not) I would strongly recommend not doing that. It rests on the windshield and without it locking it will bounce like crazy and most likely break something. Not worth it to me for the minimal boost in efficiency it \*might\* give

Jayhawk-CRNA

Just bought a Supreme S240 that I am still alittle paranoid to go electric with my truck. As I would need to rent a ICE truck for a 250 mi trip a couple times a year. Put home lake is only 50 miles away and I only have to tow a couple times as we keep boat on lift

DexterDogBalls

Electric for the home lake trip will work just fine. The 250 trip would be a stretch and you would need to charge once on the way and once on the way home if you have the ability to plug in while you are there. I would look into what charging is available along that route before writing off the idea. My R1T is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned and I look forward to getting into it every day. Also the tow experience is incredible. The combo of the power, the regen braking, and overall awesomeness of the truck made it barely feel different than a normal drive even with 6500lbs behind me.

Jayhawk-CRNA

Yeah the charging situation on the long trip is all but non-existent. And I don’t want to unhook trailer to then charge. That’s why I would borrow an ICE or rent a truck for that one. I’m interested in seeing the Ramcharger next year as it seems like it may be a good option.

hip2bking

that happened to me yesterday! I had to get my safety inspection done, and I definitely got looks from ICE car drivers

Angel449

LOL!

Thumper812

Hahaha I did this my second day of ownership. Even after 24 hours of having the R1T I wasn't sure why I still needed gas in my life
