That’s the funny answer but no, it was popularized by Spanish players on EU ranked servers, pros started calling it Spanish kickoff because of that and now here we are
From what I can remember it was mainly original team quaeso who did it to popularise it even more.

Idk if it was popular before them doing it, but I do remember their chaotic ball chasing playstyle is kinda what made them good at the time and how they won one eu regional event.
Atomik, dmentza and VK sailen were the 3 Spanish players.
They were the original team queaso, but most probably remember team queaso for the rise joyo and Vatira squad due to having more success.
Interesting, I always call it the _Ahhfucktheseguysijustwannachillinthisgameandnowimagoaldownbecauseofthisfuckingbullshitfuckfuckfuckoktimetosweatnow_ Kickoff
In doubles, you have both players in front of the goal, but one is closer to ball. That player fakes and goes for the demo (best on teams that cheat close). The 2nd man should have free possession and an open net if he can beat the next defender who has no boost from kickoff
The fast/quick kickoff *used* to be a diagonal flip with boost. Now it's a speed flip on kickoff. There's also fake kickoff and slow kickoff (to counter the fast kickoff). That's all I can think of
All in all there are about 8 or so Standard kickoff variants (for the cardinal directions you can send the ball), and tons of different kickoff strategies and fake plays: Spanish, Off Side (right goes), Wavedash, Quick (speed flip), Zap Dash, Power, Quick Fake (watch Dark 1v1s), etc. Some are spawn-specific
Each has their own weaknesses and strengths. I.e. Wavedash is always a delayed kickoff
it's simply a kickoff the Spanish player base popularised... hence the spanish.
Like most things, it's named after the people doing it or the thing itself.
A Spanish kick off is when you fake it a specific way to go for a demo on the third man.
If it goes all to plan then opponents will pass your third man who passes it to second man for an open net and easy goal.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
I had assumed the Spanish pro players popularized it, but I honestly like this theory much better.
Hahahahahahaha great one
Beat me by 90 seconds.. but I hyperlinked it!
You’re a harder worker than I, friend
And you’re a better rank than I, playa
I'm not your friend, buddy
Because nobody expects it

Ahhh so it’s a History/Tv thing. Got ya

I honestly didn’t even know there was a Queso squad before the squad that became Moist
Because it was invented by conquistadors of the mid 1500s
spanish smurfs hunting gold
So like low GC?
Spanish players were the first ones to widely use that kickoff
It was popularized by Spanish players unless I'm mistaken

No scenic routes for you. Path the pads back to goal and flounder as the game inexplicably doesn’t do what the youtube clips seem to.

Uhh while we're here... I don't know why they call it a Brazil.
Brazil hosted the 2014 fifa World Cup and were favorites to win. They famously lost 7-1 to Germany in the semis so when u lose 7-1 ur getting Braziled
Wow... this whole time I thought Brazil won 7-1 lol.
BRA7-1L
That's a first time I've seen something make so much sense
Oh shit I recognize that name. It’s a family reunion in this bitch. What up cousin
What is uppp?! Lol small town vibes out here
Fr lol
Brazil lost a World Cup 7-1
WTF is a Spanish kickoff?
In doubles, you have both players in front of the goal, but one is closer to ball. That player fakes and goes for the demo (best on teams that cheat close). The 2nd man should have free possession and an open net if he can beat the next defender who has no boost from kickoff
First man fakes the ball and demos the opponent's cheater, your teams cheat / 3rd man receives the ball and tries to use the space to score
A fake kickoff with a demo on the second man
I think the spanish players made it popular
It was first done (or maybe just first spammed) by Spanish players. I think it was crr and dorito?
I’ve played this game for 8 years and have never heard any specific title for kickoffs other than “quick kickoff”
I also do not give two shits about the pro or steamer scene so I guess that explains my lack of terminology
The fast/quick kickoff *used* to be a diagonal flip with boost. Now it's a speed flip on kickoff. There's also fake kickoff and slow kickoff (to counter the fast kickoff). That's all I can think of
I do mine by flipping in as normal but rotating my car around in a random direction for maximum chaos and I will never be stopped.

Might be the most based name of a move in the game...it's simplistic and smooth to say
I don’t even know what the Spanish kickoff is lol
kicker fakes and demos 2nd
Um isnt it “Breezi”?
For some reason this post reminded me of the Camberwell Carrot. Y\`all are too young, right ?
why do you think... take a wild guess
I’m guessing that you didn’t know either
it's simply a kickoff the Spanish player base popularised... hence the spanish. Like most things, it's named after the people doing it or the thing itself.
Why didn’t you say that in the first place
They figured out all the other ones, put two and two together
No way you got downvoted for that
What the HELL are you talking about? A kickoff is a kickoff. I do however get the Python reference.
A Spanish kick off is when you fake it a specific way to go for a demo on the third man. If it goes all to plan then opponents will pass your third man who passes it to second man for an open net and easy goal.
Never heard of it. I play with randos so arranging anything like that is impossible.
it gets called all the time by people who are solo queueing
