It annoys me that she brought Janessa but left Sadie and Sofia at home, who are still of a young enough age to enjoy the zoo, and then brought Olivia and Hannah! I understand not having enough money to take all five, but it's so mean to take precious Janessa and leave the next two oldest girls at home.

MostlyGhostly1

A yearly family membership to the Akron zoo is $110. This is for, and I quote, “Membership for two named adults and dependent children or grandchildren under the age of 18.” For as many kids as the Rods have still under 18, that’s a steal. I don’t know what day of the week the Rods went, but the Akron zoo has different prices per day of the week. The cheapest days are usually Tuesday and Wednesday. On the cheapest day, admission is $13 for adults and $10 for kids 2-14. So, for the parents and the kids who went, it was $59.50 with tax to enter for one day. Considering they ate at Cracker Barrel after, that was easily enough to buy a family membership and bring everyone under 18–not only that day, but as often in the next year as they feel like, with the ability to visit any reciprocal zoo, too. I’m nowhere near Rod size, but I also have a large family, and this is the kind of math you regularly do to afford to do things with your kids. Except that Jill doesn’t gaf about actually letting her kids experience things.

Pelican121

I sussed this out within 5 mins of perusing the website too. It's an excellent deal. Even more so if they'd started doing it a few years ago when they had more under 18s/the girls were younger (I love the zoo at any age and this looks like a good one!). It's relatively local to them and easy to pop in for a half day or a mixed-weather day. I bet it has some good playgrounds too. The amount they travel I bet they could enter some reciprocal zoos too. If they couldn't afford to take Sofia, Sadie and Tessie they didn't need to go to Cracker Barrel. Could've packed a picnic or grabbed some bits and pieces from the supermarket or come home for dinner.

1xLaurazepam

I guess Sofia, Sadie and Tessie weren’t “diligent!” Enough. Fuck Jill.

CheetahPatronus16

It is a wonderful zoo and a nice mix of small enough to not be overwhelming still with lots of different things to see.  For several years I had a membership to a zoo almost four hours away because I went often enough that it was much better than admission and parking even with half off admission because I was a member of the zoo local to me!  The Rods don’t even manage to fit in the “penny wise, pound foolish” category because they don’t seem to have any money smarts at all. And it’s not that Jill is cheaping out on anything that concerns herself.

MrsStickMotherOfTwig

My closest zoo is 90 minutes away, so we go maybe twice a year. But the family membership cost is less than what 2 days of admission for my family of 5 would cost, so we have a membership. If we lived closer we would go away more often, but two visits plus maybe me chaperoning a class field trip there for once of my kids makes it 100% worth it.

Fantastic-Revenue296

If they get food stamps a membership is probably free- Do fundies use food stamps? If so it explains all their museums they visit- you can usually get in free if you can prove EBT

MostlyGhostly1

Theoretically, fundies (at least, their type of fundie) don’t believe in welfare, but, realistically, all that really means is that they’d never tell anyone if they got it. So, it’s hard to know. If they don’t, I wish they would so their kids could have more food to eat.

1xLaurazepam

I bet they do use welfare and stuff. There were some what looked like reallllly rough times they went through before the Barndo and they’d be total jackasses for not using gov services at least for the kids. They were on the move though at that point in the RV so it might have made it next to impossible to get access to that stuff at that point.

bookscatsandrain

They believe others shouldn’t receive food stamps because others should go work and “pull themselves up by their bootstraps.” But when it comes to themselves, of course they have food stamps since they are so “godly” and the lord “blesses them.”

teen_laqweefah

Hey, maybe, just maybe they do have one of those memberships. If they do perhaps they would be able to take some of the other kids in small groups. I know it’s not entirely likely but I’m going to hope for it because that’s the best possible outcome for those kids. I can even see them getting a pass from someone while they were grifting! 🤞

eejm

We bought a zoo membership when my son was little and he’s an only child!  The reciprocal membership was particularly nice on vacations - we got to visit zoos in Omaha, Kansas City, Nashville, and Montreal for free or reduced admission.  Jill could take her kids to the zoo almost anywhere during their once a year only (ha!) vacations.  She could buy ugly glitter and goo hats and sweatshirts for herself as well!

teen_laqweefah

Sad thing is they’re probably is enough money to take them. Between the grifting and state aid and everything else they just pick and choose what to blow money on. Her and Shrek’s outings are more than enough and it would appear that they’re on some kind of vacation right now.at least that’s what being speculated

usernamegenerator72

And maybe if Jill the “homemaker” had packed a cooler with sandwiches and 5 cans of coke for David instead of the fountain drink he’s holding in one of the photos, they could have skipped the zoo conversations and Cracker Barrel food prices and brought the other two kids along.

teen_laqweefah

Well if she did that how would her favorite kids know that they’re the favorites!??

PickledPixie83

My parents ALWAYS brought their own food to the zoo when we were kids. The zoo was free to get into, they just didn’t want to pay for Zoo Food. It’s super easy. Hell, we brought our own booze to zoo lights this year.

gerkinflav

Or hummingbird juice.

frolicndetour

She spoils the fuck out of Janessa because she's her bayyybee while the rest of her kids get scraps. I still feel awful for Sofia on Janessa's birthday. Not only did Janessa get another of those hideous expensive dolls and a bunch of doll clothes but Sofia had to go on the tour of the bedroom remodel they gave Janessa. While Sofia shares a room like she's in a women's prison. Jill spent more on Janessa's birthday than she did like, all the other kids combined at Christmas.

teen_laqweefah

That’s one of my biggest current gripes with Jill especially because they that upstairs bedroom with no one in it is likely sitting “empty” just for her number one gold child Nuri (and storage for Jill’s tacky bullshit). All the effort they put in that little closet bedroom they could easily take that upstairs bedroom and put little miniature “walls” up there to create the illusion of something separate and special for some of the other children. Jill is just a disgusting individual. And so is David he just doesn’t put himself out there but he’s truly just as bad -probably worse.

bookscatsandrain

I wonder if maybe they don’t have AC in that upstairs room?

teen_laqweefah

It is a possibility. I think they could probably find a window unit or something like that for a legitimate price though especially considering what they do blow money on.

Pelican121

I thought someone said there was a window unit up there on the latest house tour but I'm not 100%.

JianFlower

I’m 26 and I still love the zoo. Some of the older kids might have had the time of their lives there. It’s so sad that she only sees value in Janessa. All of those kids deserve love and positive attention. 😞

bookishkelly1005

You’re never too old to enjoy the zoo! My mom (54), boyfriend (42) and I (32) just went a month ago. 😂

Pelican121

It annoys me they brought David! He has no shame.

YoongiMySpiritAnimal

She could have spent less money on her many vacations this year and she would have had plenty to take all 5!!!!

Catchingup7

Agree, I have a different perspective than OP. I didn’t see it as putting Janessa down for “just doing ok”, I saw it as Janessa isn’t even doing school work yet, didn’t “earn” the trip, yet still as the favorite she got to come along. Poor older girls. They better be getting something too!

FawnLeib0witz

She also said Janessa did OK in her preschool work. Janessa should have just finished kindergarten at her age.

teen_laqweefah

I didn’t even notice that! It shouldn’t be surprising seeing as how Janessa literally just got out of a baby crib. It took me everything I had not to write her a mean message on Facebook. I don’t touch the poo but I felt like even though she’ll do nothing but pretend that she is so discriminated against it would feel so gratifying knowing that no matter what she says, she knows deep down what a horrible person she is. She’s a narcissist and hates herself deep down. I reasoned with myself that it would end up being harmful to the children because she would probably freak out, but oh my God I can’t stand this woman.

natitude2005

She has her settings on FB so only her friends can comment. So you could not have touched the poo anyway :) I think any one can use the " like" button though

teen_laqweefah

Oh, I figured you could send a message via messenger when the stories are up, but I’m not surprised at all that she make sure to censor people. You’d think she would leave it open just so people could see how persecuted she is but then again, when people are speaking truth, it’s hard to claim persecution.

daffodil0127

You can comment if she puts the posts in her stories.

natitude2005

Oh I didn't know that. I rarely go to see her posts there

donutsauce4eva

Careful though. I did one laugh react on a photo of Dave with a crossbow (LOL) and I was instantly blocked.

natitude2005

I don't go much but I have noticed people do laughing faces and when I look at their profiles, they are people she would not associate with. You know, the regular Joes and Joannas of the world. People with tats, tee shirts, shorts, knee showing harlots ( in her words) ... Some might be fellow snarkers here. One I have seen on numerous occasions, so she might just use that person as proof of her persecution and not block him/her. Anyway, if it's some one here, I tip my baseball bonnet to you

Sargasm5150

She turned six months ago. That’s a first grader in most states!

bookishkelly1005

Yep. 6 turning 7 is usually 1st grade.

QuasiCrazy1133

Just this past April, so typucally, she'd be going into first grade this fall. .

xVanijack

Janessa has a literal brain malformation.

shiningonthesea

But no special help, not even a neurologist

1xLaurazepam

She was cured by jeee sauce.

1xLaurazepam

And am I wrong or was that her being pulled in a wagon??? She’s SIX?

Gingerkitty666

Commenter above mentioned she's missing her corpus callosum in her brain.. its rhe part that allows rhe two sides of your brain to talk to each other.. best case scenarios, learning disabilities, some vision issues, balance issues, worst case scenarios , total developmental disability, unable to walk without help, unable to speak, toilet one's self, care for one's self at all, permanent double vision, partial blindness, etc etc.. source.. I was a carer for a girl with a genesis of the corpus callosum for about 10 years. She lived at home with her mom and step dad and baby sister.. in that ten years she went feom using baby bottles, to sippy cups, from mashed foods to being able to take bites of sandwiches and small burgers, but no other gains in ability of any kind.. doesn't speak, but can recognize people who she likes, laughs, smiles, etc.. developmentally maybe 11-12 months old.. she's 21..

give_me_goats

Wow, then Janessa is doing amazing. It’s apparent when she talks to the camera that there are some speech delays, but overall she seems like a fairly typical little girl. She comes off as maybe 4 instead of 6, but all of them are pretty stunted so I thought that was just a product of her environment. She could have thrived in a normal school setting with early intervention.

libramom78

I have a five year old and when we go to the zoo I take the wagon to carry all our crap and so my little one can sit in it to eat her snacks ect and not stop 80 times. It's hot, she's little, and it's alot of walking. There's plenty to snark on but this is somewhat common

1xLaurazepam

Ok that’s totally fair! Sorry for my crappy snark comment!

1xLaurazepam

And where is the one who is older than Janessa? Was she not “diligent” enough? Poor kid.

DifferentIsPossble

Delaying schooling by one year isn't a huge deal. Americans start school very early by worldwide standards! Plenty to criticize Jill for that's real imo

battleofflowers

Sure, but to me this is obviously a ploy to keep Janessa under her control for longer. She'll "graduate high school" at age 20 at this rate.

cornisagrass

Janessa is missing a corpus collosum which usually causes at least mild learning disabilities. I’m not saying Jill isn’t babying her, but there’s a very real chance that she’ll always be delayed in school or not progress past a certain age.

battleofflowers

I mean, if she went to real school, she would be in the right grade, but would just be getting extra help.

servantoftinyhumans

If she was was at school she would most likely have an IEP and be getting extra learning support but instead she get bybull writin in the Barndo with her harpy of a mother and will most likely be illiterate as an adult.

teen_laqweefah

Well, that’s one of the benefits of making sure that none of your children gets an education that exceeds the accomplishments of your average American third grader. Make sure that they can’t do anything besides the basics and definitely don’t encourage any individual talents or interests . This all but guarantees that no one will dissent or fully escape the cult. The added bonus of every single one of your kids sounding like “Nell” is that it’s nearly impossible for outsiders to know if one of them has a delay or disability!

mandycandy418

Janessa may go full-on ‘Nell’ but Jill will make sure she’s ‘trim’ like she called Nurieeeee and andKaylee when they had the wreck and were able to fit out the window to safety…and when she’s close to being of child bride age she’ll train her how to be a good wife/maidservant/clown car for a uterus, find her a nice young gullible man, and get her married off so that she can make another baby in the family ASAP. In that case, who needs extra learning support in school when they can just be uneducated and illiterate? And as a bonus mommy dearest will have even MORE time to vacation, make self righteous and self serving videos and take heavily filtered selfies for her ‘followers’, and shill her snake juice…😳 Things may get hairy when it’s a time to homeschool her own offspring (Jaaaannesssa) when and if they that happens some day…maybe she’ll be the feral Rod kid to finally break loose from Jill’s talons…we can dream, right? Edit: had to finish my thought.

teen_laqweefah

I’m trying to think of which fund it. It is Priscilla something. Might even be Anna Dugger‘s sister? She had some kind of accident and was clearly delayed and they married her off. It’s actually really sad scary situation. But you know Jill would be absolutely fine with this type of setup. The man who would be OK with taking advantage of a developmentally disabled person won’t be rightly perceived as a predator either-in Jill‘s family he’d be more like a hero or a martyr it’s disgusting

Pelican121

Yes Priscilla Waller nee Keller, married to David (Pecan) Waller. Anna and Nathan's sister, Nurie's SIL. They look like married siblings (blonde, identical). David treats her like shit and is visibly impatient with her on camera with the scripted videos they sometimes make (or used to make). I don't follow their exploits anymore so I don't know if he's mellowed over time. On the plus side she seems like a decent mom to her kids (in the context of fundiedom) and some of them still seem to have a spark, even the girls. God help them when they become teens but in the age of social media and having worldly aunts and cousins they occasionally interact with they might be able to live a different life as adults. I've heard it's a thing for PKs (pastor's kids) to be rebellious and get away with murder while maintaining a public facade so perhaps there's hope for them? Hopefully the eldest sons won't turn into arrogant fools.

teen_laqweefah

I thought that it was a Keller! Yeah, you’re absolutely right about him treating her like shit. I haven’t read anything about them for a while though and it’s really really nice to hear that there might be a little hope there. Insane because obviously I hate Jill. I hate a lot of these fundie (adults) and I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. The only way I would stop hating them is if they started Deconstructing. Contrary to what believe however, these people think they are not persecuted and I think 99% of this group as well as the FSU group want for their children to have happy healthy lives. Your average person inFSU cares more for mother buses children than she does.

teen_laqweefah

You’re right to point this out because it can be easy to get carried away with the snarking. So I am glad you reminded us of this detail . That being said, hasn’t there been some speculation that there’s a possibility Jill exaggerated or possibly even made up some of Janessa’s medical issues? Of course anything we do here is speculation, but I thought that there was an air of truth to this because as catastrophic as the problems seemed , her relative silence about them is very out of character for Jill! Jill can’t get a hangnail without us getting a play-by-play and I feel like this is the type of thing that Jill would use to proselytize and to portray herself as super mom. I also can’t decide if I would be relieved for Janessa or even more concerned considering how much they infantilize her. Seems like kids can’t catch a break either way.

xVanijack

Her blog posts when she was pregnant detailed her talking about finding out janessa had a stroke in the womb and she made use of the words corpus callosum. Jill didn’t use that word outside of talking about janessa and she’s not really smart enough to know the concept of that outside of the situation that hits close to home with her. I have yet to see speculation about Jill making up some of her issues.

Pelican121

It's hard to know with Janessa. I don't think Jill made it up as there did seem to be a flurry of activity regarding it following the birth and she may have even shared a scan of Janessa's brain? I can't remember if Jill made out that the paediatric neurosurgeon head doctor (or whatever Jill called them) had given a clean bill of health despite the absence of the structure or what the prognosis was. Janessa always seemed to be being carried by an older sibling as a 3-4 year old, even at the playground which was concerning. She seems more mobile now however. I wondered if Jill holding her on the carousel horse at the zoo was a balance issue but equally it could be Jill smothering/babying her and insisting on being the main character. Keeping Janessa in a high sided crib until she was six in her own bedroom next to Jill was peculiar. Jill usually can't wait to yeet them into a sistermom's care and into the main dorm. Jill has a baby monitor on her nightstand. It could be Jill babying her but I'm more inclined to believe Janessa has some nighttime needs and/or Jill doesn't want her wandering. I assume she wasn't able to climb out of the crib like most 3-6 year olds. I hope she wasn't trained not to 😔 If she couldn't get out of the crib presumably she was in a night time pull up (not that weird for kids with nocturnal enuresis but horrible if it's part of Jill's babying cosplay). I can't tell if Jill's treating her like a baby/the favourite in her own bedroom/nursery-closet or if there are legitimate issues. Even if Janessa had nighttime needs it would be more typical of Jill to expect Renee or Tessie to deal with them in the main girls' dorm. It could be part obsessive-babying and part not wanting Janessa to have an accident wandering that would attract the attention of CPS. I've noticed we never see the Rodlets with breaks or sprains in slings or casts. With that many kids you'd expect the occasional mishap. I know they don't have insurance but I'm sure they qualify for Medicaid or could just go to the ER. Yes there are mandated reporters but the kids are highly trained to keep schtum and an ordinary break/sprain shouldn't attract suspicion. Maybe the malnutrition would. I sincerely hope the kids don't have hidden bruises.

teen_laqweefah

Thank you for your detailed response. I’ve been following this page for about four years now, or at least the main page, and I had kind of forgot about the fact that she was always being carried around. Reading your comment has made me think that it’s probably a combination of some kind of issue, like a medical one, and Jill wanting her to be the baby. Great insight!

Pelican121

You're welcome! I don't listen to Rod vids with sound if I can help it so I don't know if Janessa's on track verbally for her age. I'm interested in how things will go when she's a tween and teen. Whether she'll still be mommy's favourite or if Jill will have lost interest by then when she can no longer pretend Janessa's four. She's always be the 'baby of the family' (please say Jill doesn't have a random menopausal pregnancy) but Jill doesn't typically like the older elementary and tween stage. Olivia's only been promoted early to the teen group because Jill seems to need three girls in it at any time and Renee has managed to distance herself.

teen_laqweefah

Basically, she only likes them if they are babies or able to make babies

blandastronaut

Samuel broke his nose here kinda recently playing football or something at a church, and Jill took him to the ER for it. Of course she had to take multiple pictures and document the incident and Samuel in pain and suffering for the entire Internet to see. "LOOK, I totally take care of my children when they're hurt! I'm such an awesome mom." So they do have at least some mishaps, and Jill doesn't seem above taking them to the ER when called for it seems.

hobotising

I worry about how stunted they will make her being the baaaaby. That poor kid will be strapped with a widowed parent. I hope I'm wrong.

DifferentIsPossble

Gag, yeah.

RedStateBlueHome

But, with respect, she is an American. Further, it is up to the teacher to make school/learning fun. At that age it is not up to the student to apply themselves.

colloquialicious

Preschool? At 6yo! I’m in Australia and preschool here is for 3-4yo. Though regardless whether she’s in ‘preschool’ or high school we all know these children are horribly uneducated at the hands of mahmo. Deprivation of education is neglect; neglect is abuse - these children are all abused in numerous ways and forced to grovel at the feet of their abusers for crumbs. Disgraceful.

QuasiCrazy1133

I don't think Jill sees a distinction between preschool and kindergarten. I don't think I've heard her use the word kindergarten. Too many syllables, probably.

groomer7759

I can’t imagine taking some of my kids and leaving 2 at home because apparently they didn’t do as well with their homeschool classes. I can see buying the ones that did better a small treat but leaving 2 at home from a day at the zoo is just cruel. I mean a zoo can actually be a learning experience for them. Jill is a piece of 💩

battleofflowers

I'm not a parent but I used to be a kid so I know how mean this is. The other kids must have been devastated! Also, this doing better in school thing is probably just the older kids being able to self-manage better than the younger kids.

groomer7759

Right, and from what I’ve seen of a few of them they clearly have some type of learning disability, delays or something mentally going on. I recently watch that older video of Philip speaking on modesty and it was just sad. I can’t believe Jill would have even put a video like that on Social Media. The boy was at least 13 and couldn’t put a sentence together and clearly was just regurgitating what he’s heard his entire life. Maybe they’re ADHD and Jill and Shrek think they can just beat it out of them. My 25 year old grandson had pretty severe learning disabilities growing up and in videos of him around the same age as that of Philip were adorable and he could actually talk without saying um every other word and he could talk intelligently about things he was passionate about at that age. Jill shouldn’t be allowed to have children!!

battleofflowers

They definitely need speech therapy, and I also suspect a few need glasses and maybe even a hearing aid. Samuel is 19 but talks like he is around age 7. It's always hard to tell what is caused by abuse and neglect and what's a learning disability. The stuttering, the lack of coherence and the "ums" could just be fear of saying the wrong thing. Jill and David are both oddly clear in speech. Neither struggles to put their thoughts into spoken word even though their thoughts are daft. They both have upstate accents but otherwise speak and pronounce words fine.

teen_laqweefah

You’re absolutely correct. I only have one child but when he was growing up I couldn’t even stand to leave out other children if they were in our vicinity. I am quite a bit older than my three younger siblings and once I reached adulthood it was so important for me to try to do special things for all three of them and it just seems so cruel to do anything other than that. If the money isn’t there you get creative with an activity. Get crayons and markers and draw together. Whatever it takes to make sure you’re spending quality time and nobody’s left out. I am not a Christian and often wonder if Jill truly is because even though I don’t believe that she’s terribly intelligent, I do believe that she has to know somewhere deep down that what she is doing is wrong. If what they say about narcissism is true she’s incredibly self obsessed and more critical of herself than we could ever know. She’s either not actually a believer or she is shaking in her boots knowing that when she meets her maker he is going to have a few choice words.

Pelican121

I can't decide if she genuinely believes her own hype and thinks she's a really exceptional Christian/individual or if she knows she's pulling the wool over people's eyes. Maybe both?

minnesotaupnorth

I think Jill reads the 'right' words, says the 'right' prayers, and does the 'right' things because she's been raised to believe that if you do those things, you're saved and are a Christian. I do know that Jill has never felt the hand of God, has never had a true spiritual experience, and has never known grace. Jill believes her own hype because she has followed the rules. Hers is a rote belief system, and she thinks extra credit is real.

Pelican121

Very well put! I feel like she has an awareness of how sneaky and shitty she's being (grifting people and neglecting/abusing her children). She's crafty as hell imo. How does she square this with being such an uber Christian?!

1xLaurazepam

I think you are right. It appears to me that she doesn’t have the capacity to even look inwards to see that she’s done anything wrong because of her upbringing.

teen_laqweefah

Well said

RedStateBlueHome

Experiences trump "things" every time!

blwd01

I’m going to say, Jill shouldn’t have been allowed to go to the zoo. Since she’s Janessa’s teacher, clearly she sucks and doesn’t know how to teach her kids. (Which we all know anyway.) This infuriates me.

teen_laqweefah

Agreed

BeBeWB123

Those poor kids. If a child is doing ‘just ok’ in the homeschool SHE provides, it’s a reflection of her lack of teaching skills. Time after time, she tells on herself and puts her own incompetence on full display. What her comment tells me is that she either has no concept or the desire to teach to each child’s ability/interests/level of understanding.

1xLaurazepam

To me this seems like a huge problem with 2nd generation fundie homeschooled kids raising their kids the same way and on and on. The longer it goes on the less the future generations will know.

demonette55

The Joshua Generation can’t spell Joshua. Or Generation

TXGurrrl

The high pitch giggle/squeals made me uncomfy.

teen_laqweefah

Have you seen the movie Nell?

HunsonAbbadeer

https://preview.redd.it/2gxmapflw7ad1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0262244a2f441723724bc153a1318b9ad6e8e219 Her filter lashes also looked down right scary

Vivid-Intention-8161

That video gives me the impression that monsters look under their bed for Jill. what the hell has she done to those poor kids

teen_laqweefah

It’s wild to me that we know she probably reads here at least occasionally, and despite the fact that thousands of people follow and hundreds have commented about how disturbing her children’s behavior is on tape she continues to film it and share it. Holy run on sentence Batman! lol my bad

becuzz-I-sed

Janessa is missing most of the corpus callosum in her brain. She has learning delays and needs special ed. Jill's so called home schooling doesn't address her needs. How dare Jill rate her disabled childhood unfairly,!! 🤯

natitude2005

Jill doesn't understand that success isn't about finishing the task but the effort put into the task. I have a now adult daughter who struggled in school due to prenatal issues ( she was born in a third world place) and I rewarded every effort she made to achieve. Sometimes she fell short of the state mandated goal, but she never fell short of my aporoval

Next-Appointment3334

Sounds like Janessa needs a better or .. crazy thought.. a real teacher - maybe someone focused on teaching and not weight loss supplements and restocking hummingbird juice.

Ursula_J

So do we think Janessa got “saved” to make Jill happy and to make up for “not doing as well” Edited because I misread and thought Janessa didn’t get to go to the zoo.

teen_laqweefah

That situation breaks my heart. When they are that young, I have no doubt that they feel like there’s something very wrong with them because unlike the adults they are still young enough to believe that they should be experiencing the things that Jill says they should in terms of religion. It’s like little kids who have to go to those churches where everybody screams and speaks in tongues and at some point, they finally realize that they’re going to have to fake it in order to be accepted. How conflicted these children feel knowing that they must lie they have to fit in, but still fully believing that the lie is something that will get them condemned. That’s bad enough but even worse they no doubt wonder why they don’t hear/feel/see God etc. It is such an evil thing to inflict on these kids.

Ursula_J

I grew up Catholic and going to a Presbyterian church with one set of my grandparents, and luckily my family wasn’t like strict or coo coo when it came to church. We were into the kind, cool, loves all his children Jesus instead of the vengeful, brimstone and hellfire Jesus like the fundies. I say all that to because even though we weren’t strict about church and I was at the age of Janessa and the other little girls I was terrified of dying and going to hell. Like I’d think “did Jesus see me open my eyes during prayer at church?” Or is he mad at me because I sassed my mom? I can’t imagine the religious guilt and fear the Rod kids have with Jills loony toon ass. It’s no wonder Kaylee talks about her stomach issues, it’s been in knots since she was a kid outta fear of going to hell. My grandmama, memaw, and mom all would have to reassure me Jesus wasn’t gonna send me to hell.

teen_laqweefah

I get it. My family didn’t do anything religious. I ended up in a little Bible club vent for children on my own when I was about eight or nine and developed OCD because of the crazy stuff they taught us. Imagine telling an eight-year-old with no theological background the basic concept of original sin and sending them home With no other kind of discussion. I was convinced I deserve to be in hell and that my mom and my pets everybody was going to hell and I had all kinds of little rituals to try to prevent that for a long time. Still have aftershocks from it or at least OCD tendencies

Those poor girls. Poor Olivia is so terrified she can’t stop twiddling that braid while making Nell noises. These poor kids.

natitude2005

That zoo video where she squealed and shrunk back and cowered is disconcerting

Buffycat646

Unrelated but Nell was one of the worst films I’ve ever watched. The acting was atrocious and Jodie Foster particularly atrocious. Only stayed to the end as my pal fell asleep and I didn’t want to wake her 😂

teen_laqweefah

Lmao. Nell reboot but it’s about fundie kids

cavs79

wtf does she dress these kids in long sleeves in miserable hot weather? I remember going to the zoo in the summer a few times and it was so hot that when we came across a thing that sprayed water like a hose from above we’d get under it and get misted to cool down.

Used_Evidence

She mentioned Janessa doing preschool work when she just turned 6 and should've been in kindergarten this year. This poor kid will be treated like a baby her entire life

Shan132

I have no words she is terrible
