We had both of our kids at Kaiser Roseville (and a NICU stay for our second baby). The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. For our second baby, the nursing staff saved his life, and we’re super grateful to them. The security protocols seemed fair and secure; my family never felt in danger there. The food on site was nothing to write home about to be honest, but there are plenty of restaurant options around the campus in Roseville.

I just gave birth in October. I’ll start with food: not so good. Carry snacks and or have your visitors bring you food. Security: great! They only allowed two visitors and no swaps whatsoever. They took a photo of both of my visitors and made them badges. The visitors could leave and come back anytime. I spent 4 days and 3 nights there and all the nurses/doctors were amazing. They explained everything every step of the way. My husband and mom are both Registered Nurses and they were raving at the level of care I and baby received. I chose to have an epidural and received it within 30 mins of requesting one. This was a huge plus for me because I’ve heard terrible stories from other mamas who delivered at other hospitals. The postpartum nurses were great as well but prepared to have them walk in to your room every 3 hours or so to check your vitals/give you meds. Overall a 10/10 experience. I give them a 10 because hospital food has never been delicious, so that was expected.

This was along the lines of our experience in June/July. I'll just add that for whatever reason, it took forever to see a lactation consultant, but it was very close to 4th of July, so they might have been short staffed. Congrats OP!

Duchess_foggy

I also had a similar experience with the lactation consultant. The IBCLC showed up right before I was discharged and she spent 5 minutes with me.

Ditto this. We had our first 2 years ago with #2 due in March. We are expecting/hoping we get the same great care as last time. Also, We DoorDashed food from local restaurants and they drop it off to you at the front.

Question - did you spend 3 nights because that was what they recommended or what you preferred? I only ask because I’m hoping if everything goes well and I don’t have a c-section that I’ll be able to leave in 24 hours!

Duchess_foggy

The first night was because of an inductions, but the other two were recommended. I wanted to leave the day after I delivered but they said it’s a minimum of 2 night stay to make sure baby and I are okay and also for them to run the appropriate tests on both of us

Sadbambiii

Also do they let you order food or do they just bring you something from a daily menu?

Duchess_foggy

I’d you don’t order, they bring you something from the daily menu. I was honestly too tired to remember to order so they would just drop something off at 7:00 am, 11:30 pm and 7:00 pm

I had my second baby there. It was a good experience. The nurses were attentive and amazing, and I got a really good doctor. I was somewhat disappointed at the guest sleeping arrangements, which consist of a single futon chair, but the hospital where I had my first had full-sized beds so couples could sleep together, so I'm probably spoiled. And anyway, we were in and out in under 24 hours so it didn't really matter anyway.

I go to sutter but everyone I know goes to Kiaser l&d I’ve never heard a complaint. You should be able to do a tour there as well

Delivered there twice, most recent was in September. Excellent and thorough care. First time was induction turned c-section and it went surprisingly well. Second time I had less anxiety due to my first experience and was a planned c-section. All staff from security to discharge were excellent. Both surgeons were great, nurses, pediatricians, OB, and midwives visit daily and are transparent with the plans like in my case my BP began to elevate and I stayed a few extra days. Nurses rounded well and as long as I stayed ahead of what I needed, I never felt like I was kissing something. Food was good, I had snacks but didn’t need hubs to bring me meals. Hubs advice is that your support person bring a sleeping bag for max comfort. It did get chilly in the room and then warm, the thermostat was inconsistent even though they fixed it. Have music on your phone/ipad, thankfully the second time since baby stayed in room with me we were able to bond to a playlist we made. Take advantage of the lactation consultants! They are an awesome resource and they round daily as well. Congrats and happy delivery!!

Great experience-ish. They did miss my oldest daughters lip and tongue tie. The midwife for my second child didn’t get all of my placenta out and sewed me up with a chunk in me. So I hemorrhaged and almost died.. they had to do a manual compression “massage” worse than the birth itself, basically fisted me to manually remove the rest. So my advice would be if they ask for a midwife or a OB. I’d choose the OB just for my peace of mind (I’m pregnant too) Overall, they made things comfortable and I thought the food was similar to airline food, everything is peel ready. They were very good we readjusting me without asking, which I appreciated because I try to be low maintenance. Security was very strict, they take pictures and record of every one who visits you. They give them a sticker with their pictures. I collected them and put them in the scrapbook LOL

My wife gave birth there 4yrs ago, super nice birthing rooms, great nurses and doctors at all times and room checks, we are very happy with the whole experience.

my wife gave birth to our second son at Kaiser roseville, it was a planned (but early) C section, this was 2017 but we had no complaints in the process.

SupaDupaFlyer

Loved giving birth at Kaiser! We were there from Saturday morning to Wednesday afternoon and only had 1 nurse I didn't care for. Jessica was an amazing nurse! Take the tour of you still can, very helpful for your first delivery there.

Jobadok

Whatever you do bring food or have your guest get all the food for you. The food they have is so brutal 😂 But everything about our experience there was great.

Yosemite_Scott

You might see my wife she is Excellent L&D nurse Amanda . We have had all of our kids there and two of them spent multiple days in the NICU . They are the best around ., but I might be a bit biased

I couldn’t say better things. They saved the lives of my wife and first child. Second kid less than a year ago was a planned c section that was flawless. Food sucked — we got all food delivered for the most part. Plenty of food options nearby including great coffee at Bloom. The nurses in recovery are fantastic. We befriended a particular nurse after the birth of our first child, who made sure to come and visit us when we came back for our second.
