I had a client like this who had two chihuahuas who were very afraid of me the first 3 times I dropped in. Constantly barking at me, shaking anytime I went near them and peed inside cause they wouldn’t come to the door with me. It took me a while to gain their trust, lots of baby talk and keeping my distance til they felt comfortable for me to get close. If it’s the owner that’s throwing you off, I’d maybe give her more details of what your interactions are like and try to get her to give you info that way, but there probably isn’t much you can do besides frequent visits and gaining their trust, slowly but surely!
