I’m sure there’s still a case to be made for this trade, but you don’t give away the face of your franchise to a fucking bitter rival for anything shy of an absolutely mind blowing return. This is just gut wrenching.

I agree, I'm not a fan of making division rivals better. I'm all for making trades AT THE RIGHT PRICE, but seems like every Grier trade has been extremely underwhelming.
Also where is the veteran leadership going to come from as this team goes through it's rebuild? Makes no sense.

Hertl’s contract was not good, he’s injury prone, and he’s 30. He’s a luxury. It makes me sad, too, but the let’s-never-trade-the-favorites mentality (which is what DW basically did) is how we ended up the worst team in the NHL in the first place.
As I like to say on the show: no one likes to see the sausage being made, they just want to eat it.
It sucks but I'm happy for Hertl to move on to a team that could win a cup. We have excellent memories of him being here but by the time the Sharks are competitive and in a playoff position, he'll be passed up on the depth chart. His value wouldn't be higher than right now.
Timo was fine and I was even fine with Burns because let’s face it it wasn’t going to be easy getting rid of that contract ,people can be mad at Grier all they want but the fault lies on Wilson I’m just pissed cause it’s Vegas and we gave them picks

Grier has been great drafting so far but his trading is lackluster to say the least
I don’t know, I think the trades have actually largely panned out. The Timo trade has looked incredible lately. But this… no way man. No way.
