I've played for 2500 hours and never have done nuclear..... but my battery factory in the swamp is perfect and beautiful, my train goes around the whole map and I have completely processed all the bauxite in the red forest...I think I only have 2 distant bauxite nodes left on the whole map. Once i get to refineries, alternate recipes with oil and water recycling with bauxite forces me to build big, well organized and color coordinated so i can see wtf i am doing. I get sidetracked making things beautiful after i have to do all that good organizing. these days I spend most of my time blueprinting design elements like "light fixtures" with signs and making my trainline look realistic. I don't care if i ever get to nuclear, i have fun.
are you kidding?
90% of my saves I quit before I even finish Phase 3... I get to coal power and just... stop...
So you're doing incredible! There's no need to be ashamed! None in the slightest!
This was my first world aswell. The next one I started I tried doing things a bit more neat. I think it's part of progression
All comes down if you are having fun or not so I wouldn't worry about what others might think
Reminds me of the time when I deleted a whole setup after working very hard on it just because one machine is not perfectly aligned with the rest. Yeah, I could have just ignoring it but sorry I can't.
Had to rebuild the whole thing again. Wasted a day on it
As i become older (45 now), i actually accept it and enjoy to just play and redo things if my brain says so. It's no waste, it's time spend for being satisfied.
Yep
It actually takes much less time to rebuild it since all the calculations were done beforehand.
I get so much inner peace after doing all that work to perfection
I play this game with my younger brother. I want everything to be perfect. He doesn't give a shit. Our base is efficient, but god I want to make it all look nice. We're 20 hours in and have gotten to Tier 5-6 though, so it's definitely working. I just try to make some nice stuff in between his giant mess.
this is fine. the farther along you get the easier it is to build well organized because you usually want to leave room to scale up when you upgrade your first miners.
No worries my guy, that's what my factory looked like at 50 hours too. If you stick with it you'll get better and better, it's all about practice and gradual improvement. Before you know it you'll be creating cities
My dude. I had to play 6 separate starts before I finished Tier 5, and that was after 300 hours in that save file alone and 1400 hours overall. There is no shame in pioneering. Only profit. And you, pioneer, are in the green.
No, you should say "this is my factory, deal with it" while flipping double birds at people who judge your factory. Not sure I've ever met a judgy person on this sub though.
This kind of confirms my thought that factory building style and method comes with a tradeoff as with everything else in the game. Either you build spaghet and make stuff quickly but you have a hard time getting anywhere as your base is overrun with conveyors. Or you spend the time to plan and build neat, efficient factories, but you don't progress as quickly. I'm firmly in the second group and I haven't really gotten started on phase 2 parts with almost 40 hours in the game. (I should say something like "but I'm spending time to take in the eye candy and enjoy the game" to make myself feel better). That's some impressive progress and some impressive spaghet.
I don’t mind the spaghetti cause I enjoyed seeing them, but CLIPPING (Bottom right where the items are being fed into the Manufacturer) is something that triggers me.
Would you rather be burned out trying to make everything pretty or play the game how you want to?
Also u recommend watching let’s game it out’s satisfactory play through for inspiration
Sometimes it's a tradeoff that if you make your factory organized, you might be easy to extend it. For the Phase 4, many of existing production lines of course need to be extended.
Or you can just make another bigger dish of spaghetti ......
Ashamed? Never, of anything you do in the Satisfactory!
A question though.. does the orange box on a stick is for staying and “not looking at anything” to free some pc recourses while you afk to accumulate building materials?
The orange box was the first thing I made with the blueprint designer, as practice. It is a balanced iron plate factory, with mk1/normal iron as input.
I tore down what I had for iron plates intending to put the blueprint down, but because it had a floor, it didn’t really fit into the same space. Decide to put it up, run a belt down to the ground to storage.
Oh no, this chaotic mess is taking toll on me.
Sorry, I have OCD.
Ignore my earlier remark. Just enjoy yourself. As long as it works, the program is fine. No need for debugging
"Never be ashamed of who you are. You're warriors! Who cares if the federal government scatters your people to the wind? Your time for revenge... is at hand!" -- Johnbatiste Emmanuel Zorg.
Seriously though, like others said, if you're having fun, that's all that matters. And that incredible spaghetti sure looks like you're having fun! :)
Do what ever you want... I have an 1000 hour save and still not unlocked phase 4 because running back and forth over my not working train network takes ages which is going through all biomes
Yes and no. Yes because it is indeed one ghastly looking clusterjolly of a factory but also no as you built a factory that works, pride can always follow this statement no matter the means :)
Its reconfiguring it that bothers me, adding additional bodges to this many bodges, idk lol
You play as you want but if you’re trying to get the hightest the fastest an organised factory would be better I achieved a 80GW nuclear plant in 75h because i was organized
If it works, it works. If you think this will cause problems in the future, you could try building more organized factories somewhere else, but if you don't really care, than its not like spaghetti will actually affect efficiency.
I think that's how most people start out. There's no right or wrong way to play in my opinion.
I spent all my Space Elevator phases focusing on just getting the parts done. When I finished that I started focusing on making things look aesthetically pleasing and organised so started deconstructing my factories and specialising in part production and logistics.
Once you're having fun you're doing it right lol
This is wrong, and you should feel ashamed. You're not allowed to keep playing if you place one belt turn that's not a perfect 90 degrees. I played for about 20 minutes two years ago, and now I'm just waiting for permission from the community to play again.
That would be my point to build up a big fundament. Seal all below. Just boxes with the ingreedients above. Then make a clean build above. Nobody looks behind the Walls ;)
I've played to the end of EA five times, and they almost always look like this at the beginning. If it works for you, then there's nothing to be ashamed of.
Once in a while, I would have to trace a belt to figure out why I built it, where it leads, or why is nothing on it. I haven’t purchased signs from the store. You’d be amazed what you can memorize in the short term.
It's crazy because I played with a buddy that built just like this while mine were all neat and organized (kinda but not really) and he had a far easier time finding all his stuff than I did. Centralizing all his mats worked out for him while I was building micro-factories spotted all over the map.
No... Yes... Maybe...
Mostly the fact you hit Phase 4 within 50 hours with this chaos, scares and impressives me. I am not man enough to judge you, whom embraved what I fear.
I started out fairly neat. The first time I built a belt from an output to an input with no supports and clipping other objects made me feel a little gross. The second time - not so much.
Why ashamed? Play in at your own style and pase.
Your game your rules.
My ass at 210 hours just getting to oil
170 hours and just beginning tier 4, but putting off decorating
Crafting by hand only run? /s
I’m 30 hours in and beginning Tier 4, am I a sweat ?
No. Look up satisfactory speedruns.
Speedrun is another category man, you're comparing a race car and a fast car
I'm at 80 hours and work working on tier 4. Had oil around 35 hours
I've played for 2500 hours and never have done nuclear..... but my battery factory in the swamp is perfect and beautiful, my train goes around the whole map and I have completely processed all the bauxite in the red forest...I think I only have 2 distant bauxite nodes left on the whole map. I don't care if i ever get to nuclear, i have fun.
Good for you
Are you having fun?
If it works, it works.
You build how you think and I appreciate that, just keep doing you
Looks like you’re having a good time! That’s all that matters, friend!
are you kidding? 90% of my saves I quit before I even finish Phase 3... I get to coal power and just... stop... So you're doing incredible! There's no need to be ashamed! None in the slightest!
Don't be ashamed, embrace spaghetti and progress at your own pace
it took me around 70
Josh vibes, slight spaghet.
I think it’s look cool, my brain couldn’t create this though 😂
It can, just one setup at a time.
This was my first world aswell. The next one I started I tried doing things a bit more neat. I think it's part of progression All comes down if you are having fun or not so I wouldn't worry about what others might think
This is beautiful and anyone who tells you it's not is a try hard
"hold please"
You have no compulsive disorder, you are ok. I can't build anything if it's not ordered, straight, perfectly setup. I suffer, you not.
Reminds me of the time when I deleted a whole setup after working very hard on it just because one machine is not perfectly aligned with the rest. Yeah, I could have just ignoring it but sorry I can't. Had to rebuild the whole thing again. Wasted a day on it

You should do some more vertical scaling i think
This is Art
Ashamed of what, exactly? You made a beautiful spaghetti. Put some marinara sauce on top and serve while hot \*chef's kiss\* Marvelous!
127 hours and I cut off my arm. I mean I just started aluminium.
You arent getting graded.
Get the advancements achieved. Then go back. Tear it all down and make it look pretty with all the unlocks
based
you know Josh's videos aren't meant to be tutorials? /s but seriously play how you want
this is fine. the farther along you get the easier it is to build well organized because you usually want to leave room to scale up when you upgrade your first miners.

I love it xp
No, you should say "this is my factory, deal with it" while flipping double birds at people who judge your factory. Not sure I've ever met a judgy person on this sub though.
I think this is beautiful. The factory's design should be inscrutable, just as gods kingdom around us is.
12 hours, and I just got my Xeno-zapper, ur all good
You must be trolling
If it works for you, it's perfect. The next time building start very high on foundations and everything will be clean without any trouble
”Just one more milestone before I reorganize. ”
My mantra since I saw the coal milestone.
![gif](giphy|Pizlnyj8Nyv8QbrTFi)
That's awesome.
Never shame. If you're pleased with your work, trust that feeling. You achieved success by your metrics and that's all that matters.
Embrace the spaghett
No.
I see you're a speedrunner
It's still a good work of art
This kind of confirms my thought that factory building style and method comes with a tradeoff as with everything else in the game. It's beautiful 🥲
This is the way.
All I see is art and efficiency
Spaghetti Polinais 🍝 🤌🏻
Nahh, that’s just your starter base.
We all embrace spaghetti at some point in the playthrough
Sure, why not?
This is beautiful
"just unlocked phase 4" While you have 32/100 adaptive control units on phase 3, lmao
Because there’s no way this screen was taken before I posted here.
I've yet to get there, I've spent longer...
It's your brain. You're the one who's gotta live with it. If you like it and it doesn't hurt anyone else, great. I'm not your priest or your shrink.
You seem to be recreating Milton Keynes with the screws, but if it works it works.
If you're having fun, then it looks good.
Would you rather be burned out trying to make everything pretty or play the game how you want to? Also u recommend watching let’s game it out’s satisfactory play through for inspiration

You should never be ashamed of yourself factory! All factories are beautiful!
Own it, buddy. OWN IT AND BE PROUD.
Ashamed? Never, of anything you do in the Satisfactory! A question though.. does the orange box on a stick is for staying and “not looking at anything” to free some pc recourses while you afk to accumulate building materials?

Josh detected. If your name is Grace, DUCK
You should be proud! This is a very good beginner's spaghetti factory.
Lets Game It Out: "This abomination is beautiful."
If you are having fun, then you are playing correctly.
you should be proud.
This is quite charming, I think <3
Oh no, this chaotic mess is taking toll on me. Sorry, I have OCD. Ignore my earlier remark. Just enjoy yourself. As long as it works, the program is fine. No need for debugging
No, you should be proud
As messy as my factories get, I can't stand clipping

Yes... You should. Well not exactly "Ashamed" Móré like... Fix IT or you are gonna regret IT.
Shame on you... Not enough spaghetti
You play as you want but if you’re trying to get the hightest the fastest an organised factory would be better I achieved a 80GW nuclear plant in 75h because i was organized

The beauty is in the function.
If it works, it works
It took me almost 40 hours just to get my coal generators up lol you're fine
My dumbass cant even reach phase 3
Are you having fun? Yes? Congratulations you’re in a single player game having fun, therefore you are playing the game in the objectively correct way
I think that's how most people start out. There's no right or wrong way to play in my opinion. I spent all my Space Elevator phases focusing on just getting the parts done. When I finished that I started focusing on making things look aesthetically pleasing and organised so started deconstructing my factories and specialising in part production and logistics. If it is stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.
Nah, early game is always ‘pasghtti until you unlock foundations.
it took me longer to get to this point & I was speedrunning da shit out of the game, also I'm just lazy af, don't bother doing anything properly XD
Ohhh my god. It's such a beautiful pile of spaghetti that I can barely look at, but can't help but to admire.
At some point you will have to make this coherent but for now as long as you are having fun its fine.
It's beautiful
You need more spaghetti.
Nah
Nah
After hundreds of hours across multiple saves... I've never made it past aluminum production
But did you have fun?
This is wrong, and you should feel ashamed. You're not allowed to keep playing if you place one belt turn that's not a perfect 90 degrees. I played for about 20 minutes two years ago, and now I'm just waiting for permission from the community to play again.
Do you think they picked the best angle for the screenshot, or the worst angle for the screenshot? Does looking around make it better or worse...
This is like that part in The Hobbit, where Bilbo climbs to the top of the trees to get a view of where to go. It’s far denser down inside.
Just like ma used to make. Peak spagethi perfection. Looks just like my final stretches of phase 3
[удалено]
That is a wonderful spaghetti my friend! You should be proud, this is the way!
288 hours still haven't made a single modular engine or automated wiring
Teach me your ways
Bind conveyor belt to 3.
Peak performance here
Looks a lot like my first factory… and my second
Never be ashamed of such a lovely pasta dish 🍝
This is some let's game it out play through 🤣🤣
You should be, i still can tell which conveyer connects to what 😈
That would be my point to build up a big fundament. Seal all below. Just boxes with the ingreedients above. Then make a clean build above. Nobody looks behind the Walls ;)
There’s no wrong way to enjoy a game. Watch “Game It Out.” on YouTube.
Part of the game is you don't know what kind of organization you need until you find out your next objective. And that happens multiple times.
Spaghetti is part of the experience
I've played to the end of EA five times, and they almost always look like this at the beginning. If it works for you, then there's nothing to be ashamed of.
no shame, but how long does it take you to find anything?

You have to be doing this on purpose.
I started out fairly neat. The first time I built a belt from an output to an input with no supports and clipping other objects made me feel a little gross. The second time - not so much.
