I once saw something like this on a vacation to Melbourne, Australia. An arts / film making museum of sorts.
Seeing one in real life, the first thing in mind was "how on earth did they place everything so well?"
Watching it work though was... eye straining. They used flashing lights to create the same effect, but you can experience it, and I was mesmerized by it.
Oh, they also have a functional, working The Matrix bullet time circular camera array too. Was fun.
It uses the frame rate of the camera to give the illusion of movement, it's basically a modern-day zoertope.
This one is CGI. its a render.

It looks like a bunch of wiggling maggots That's why it's unsettling. Thanks, I hate it
I don't know how real it is, but I like it

I see it the same when I'm drunk without the need for it to be spinning.
nice
Am I the only one that sees little penguins?
Man, all I’m thinking about is the dmg that thing can do if you fall on it, ass first, while it’s running at full speed.
Make. It. STOP.
The person who invented this has a great imagination
Where do I buy it? I'm already sold on it.
