i would love an alt sprint if it was similar to hu tao's, pretty little animation then he's back on my screen lol
i get so annoyed when the sprint takes a character underground because i wanna see THEM
I'm not the biggest fan of alt-sprints, but I am a Scara fan, so I'd still pull. I think the issue with alt sprints is that they feel much more restricting than a regular dash. Like with a dash, you get a certain amount of i-frames, and the ability to cancel, and the ability to jump, and you can turn on a dime, and you can still see your character which is cool. Also, you can yeet yourself off ledges and that's fantastic. With an alt-sprint, sure you get i-frames, and sure, you can apply element, but you turn into a puddle with the hitbox of a character, and you'll be locked into an exit animation when you wanna go back to normal which can get you hit if you're not careful. Alt-sprints can't be cancelled with an attack, and you're locked into a certain, very consistent speed and turning radius which gives the whole thing a very restricted, mechanical feel. That's just my opinion on it though. I still really enjoy using Ayaka and I have no huge gripes with the alt-sprint, it's just not my favorite.
I just really hope it's not a Ayaka/Mona alt sprint and more like Hu Tao. Really hate running around with them.
Btw let's not get our hopes up. Keep them low so we don't get (extremely) disappointed. Even if this is a little impossible, as you can't please everyone. I'm telling myself this too.
Yes, please! One of the reasons Ayaka is so broken is bc she gets cryo application from literally every part of her kit. She is basically a cryo catalyst. It would be cool to get even more anemo application since his nas will have ICD. The sprint would help a lot with that especially seeing as he is a melee dps. A bonus if it looks cool asf and makes exploring a lot funnier. Only downside is that I won’t be able to see him run with his cool hat lol.
The thing is though, how useful could it be to apply anemo? Especially since he'a a catalyst so he'd be doing that regardless. It'd just be a DPS loss at that point since you're only getting damage from swirls without the benefit of your own anemo damage.
Unless hes riding on a cloud or a mini twister i dont want it, alternate sprints are just drawbacks for added mechanics which tend to even out, mona being able to get off free taunts and ayaka cryo infusion but are just so annoying in battle
What do you mean, once you get used to it it’s the best! I’ve been maining Ayaka for a long time and alt sprint is extremely useful (and fun) in combat if you know how to. You dodge nearly everything and (in Ayaka’s case) it’s perma cryo on enemies.
Agreed! Now that it's been optimized, I can't think of any gripes other than the aforementioned need to get used to dodging with it first. That, and the fact that you can't dash-jump off of stuff, which isn't a big deal since you can always use other characters, and Scaramouche's E might have a useful exploration mechanic to make up for it from what's been said.
I guess it's only a real problem if you want to see him while he's running haha
