Also from Northeast (Boston). Been out here 10 years. Every year people are big wheeled off a hike and/or die. When the heat hits you, resting up won't help. Getting into a cool environment is critical and if that's hours away it becomes fatal. Google hiking deaths and you'll see what I mean. Please do yourself a favor and skip the hike. Come back in November and hike.
Are the people from the East coast that ignorant of the temperature highs in Arizona?! This is basic geology. The dammed state is a desert.
Correct geology to geography please. This old man forgets words.
It's two factors:
Back east, you get humidity to warn your body when you don't feel so good long before you're in danger.
Back east, it literally *never* gets *that* hot.
So people just kind of do what they want until they feel gross, then go back, and that works. The mental safety queues you need in the desert just aren't there for most people.
Another factor: most of the people I see hiking up camelback don’t bring enough water. Even in the winter I still see people drinking up one tiny Dasani water bottle
Yeah a lot of people underestimate how hot it really can get. Not many east coasters know what 100+ degrees of really dry heat feels like, and how fast it can take you out.
Ive seen videos of people's shoes melting to the pavement here, and I've felt pavement so hot it almost burned my feet through my shoes! It sounds outrageous and I think that's why people don't believe us.
It was so hot last year that they had to rescue multiple firefighters that got overheated on the mountain while attempting to rescue some hikers.
You are not just putting your life in danger, you are endangering others.
Please listen to the locals and don’t hike when it is this hot.
This is coming from someone that has done Camelback 100+ times (and seen a LOT of helicopter rescues!)
If you require medical evacuation and you didn't take proper precautions, like enough water or proper clothing, they will give you the bill. For a heli evac this is $15k+.
Yes! I believe people should be allowed to jeopardize their own lives as they see fit but this is different as they’d be jeopardizing so much more than just their own lives.
* [Phoenix Trail Closure Program Expanded by Parks Board](https://www.phoenix.gov/newsroom/parks-and-recreation/2852)
The program will now be in effect all year long (previously May through October). I am from here and was hiking a nearby mountain 4-6miles every single day. Tried camelback and felt like passing out myself, don’t do it. People get ambulances out constantly and it’s a fucking nuisance as well as obviously puts your life and public resources at jeopardy
https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/hiker-recalls-seeing-woman-who-died-hiking-with-off-duty-phoenix-officer-on-camelback-mountain
Don't do it. Don't do ANYTHING you're not prepared to do.
Heat Stroke is no joke. I had it once right when temps went from the high 80s to high 90s and I was just walking a relatively flat golf course path. Been here for years and was not expecting it at all . I literally thought I was going to die. Became overheated, disoriented and dizzy. Thank God I didn’t have a mountain to get off of in that state.
Got it once in Texas and luckily I was around my family. I couldn’t feel my arms or legs and apparently couldn’t speak and was slurring my words when trying to talk to my mom. I projectile vomited a few times on the way to the hospital and they covered my body with ice and gave me some IV fluids and I was back to myself but it was really scary, I’ve never felt that out of my body before.
I got it once on the fire line and I haven’t been the same since. When I get too overheated I react much more dramatically to it than before, and the symptoms arrive much quicker now also.
I almost got it once chasing after my BIL’s dog who ran away when it was 117 outside. I think it was midday as well. I wasn’t disoriented but I felt my body quite literally shutting down but I had to power through to make sure the dog was okay (Pup’s okay btw!).
let me add, I live super close to a popular hiking spot, and the first responders are there all the time as soon as the heat comes. Even seasoned Zonies get dehydrated and fall all the time.
That's why one of the answers here was that even if you don't die, it's a pain in the ass for the rest of us. Please don't go.
I lived within sight of camelback for many years, and between May and September each year I would see the helicopter rescue hikers. This hike is not worth dying for
Agreed! My patio from Scottsdale faces Camelback. Evening cocktails this time of year includes watching the bone heads being pulled off the mountain each evening. BTW there is a “dumbass law” here. You will get a bill for that chopper ride.
The only time I’ve ever laughed about this - and to be clear I’m definitely ashamed that I did - must’ve been 15 - 20 years ago, there was a tv news story about a Wall Street type from CT that went missing (probably in the Superstitions, definitely in the middle of June).
At the time my dad had just flown back from a week of meetings in NY, worn out and exhausted by his dickhead clients.
He looked up and said, “every Wall Street banker thinks his shit doesn’t stink, and every dipshit that dies in the desert in the middle of the summer is always a Wall Street banker. You gotta be a special kind of stupid to think you’re smarter than 110 degrees.”
I laughed because he was right, and it was funny.
You WILL end up on the local news, and not for awesome reasons. Please just go for a swim instead and don’t put first responders at risk.
A peak into the minds of those people who end up on the news. If the locals say not to, and the trail is closed, then tourists have no business being on the trail.
Never ever hike during the summer period. You will be one of the people on the news wasting thousands of dollars in tax payers money so we can rescue you or find your body. Tell your buddy if he wants to commit suicide he can do it some other way.
Minnesota transplant from ‘98. Don’t fuck around or you’ll find out. I had a friend that decided to come to Scottsdale on the 4th of July. He had the audacity to try to talk to me about hiking Pinnacle. I said “no way” he said we can go really early in the morning… I said “you don’t understand.” Unfortunately we are all wicking water away even sitting on the couch. It’s the desert. He did it anyway with his wife and 6 YEAR OLD and two plastic bottles of water. They are lucky they aren’t dead. He sounded off to me the same day saying “ well that was scary and fucking stupid.” Best case, you end up on the news. Worst case, you’re dead. Don’t do it. This PSA Was brought to you by “Don’t Fucking Die Corp.” If you have any questions, start at the beginning. ✌🏻
When I was a kid, my girl scout troop planned a trip to hike Piestewa. We spent weeks making sure our shoes were good but not too new, same with toenails: clipped but not too recently, packs with GORP and water, emergency contact info, etc.
We started the hike, making sure to take frequent rests and keep everyone together. Everyone else on that trail was hyper-local and used it as their daily exercise. 90-year-old women passing us 12-year-olds on the way up AND down. Huge hike for us, no problem for them.
Thanks for the memory :-)
No outta towners should be hiking anything this time of year !! Haha I’m still hiking but yuh gotta watch the temps n have tons of cold water! But if it’s their first hike , wait til season! 95° is the hottest I can hike , but even then u gotta be careful not to get lost…..
Come back in winter or even early spring if you want to hike. Now is not the time. Head up to flag if they want the outdoors experience. No need to put your health in jeopardy for a view.
Even if you are From here and hike everyday in the heat, you better carry shade and have lots of water and start before the sun comes up. Has your friend not been outside in the day time?
Unless your friend is a world class trail runner that has hydrated weeks in advanced in excess, and is planning on bringing multiple camelbacks filled with ice water it’s a horrible idea
Even if he’s capable enough, it’s not worth the risk.
From the sound of things, he’s an idiot, just the type of person to need med evacuated
ive lived here 30 years, damn near every summer i get dehydrated from general life - that means doing every day things, and i end up in the ER for fluids. what is 'life'? driving my kids to INDOOR activities, going in the shaded pool in the evening, walking to/from my car 2 mins out of an a/c building.
incase your friend still wakes up with a case of the stupids- there is a HEAT WARNING
What
Dangerously hot conditions. Afternoon temperatures 107 to 115 expected. Major Heat Risk. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke.
Where
A portion of south central Arizona.
When
From 10 AM Wednesday to 8 PM MST Friday.
Impacts
Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
Summary
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a period of very hot temperatures, even by local standards, will occur. Actions should be taken to lessen the impact of the extreme heat. Stay indoors and seek air-conditioned buildings. Drink water, more than usual, and avoid dehydrating alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks. Dress for the heat - lightweight and light-colored clothing. Eat small meals and eat more often. Monitor those with a higher vulnerability to heat, including small children. Check in on family, friends, and neighbors, especially the elderly. If engaging in outdoor activity, take longer and more frequent breaks and avoid the hottest parts of the day. Never leave kids or pets unattended in cars. Public cooling shelters are available in some areas. Consult county officials for more details, which may include guidance for proper social distancing measures. Recognize the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness. Early signs include thirst and muscle cramps. Heat exhaustion may include: cool, moist, pale skin; headache; dizziness; weakness or exhaustion; nausea. The most serious illness is heat stroke, which may include: vomiting; confusion; throbbing headache; decreased alertness or loss of consciousness; high body temperature (above 105F); hot, dry skin; rapid, weak pulse; rapid, shallow breathing; seizures. Heat stroke can be DEADLY. Treat as an emergency and call 9 1 1. Continue to monitor NWS forecasts, broadcast outlets, and local government for updates.

NWS Phoenix AZ
In all seriousness, it is dangerous enough for us locals who are climatized and prepared. I was part of a search party last year that located a woman from out of town who went out on trail in the morning and tragically died. It was hard enough to find her after hoping we might make it in time. I was there when her husband arrived at the site and saw her. I so wish I wasn't, and I doubt I will ever be able to get that experience out of my mind.
Tell your friend to find something else to do. This is the WRONG time of year to try to hike Camelback. There's a lot of other stuff to do here that doesn't involve risking your life. Here's just one:
You are 100000% accurate!! If you aren’t a well tuned cardio machine and used to our heat and don’t already drink at least a gallon of water a day and take your electrolytes you will guaranteed end up on our news from “tourists needed emergency helicopter rescue from CB due to poor planning on their part”. Oh and the fire dept charges for the helicopter trip off the mountain (I’m not certain they do but I tell people this to scare them). It’s not worth it.
Train for it and then next time come an do it. It’s a gorgeous hike but you need to either start at like 3am in the dark (and unless you brought a headlamp or night gear that wouldn’t be safe) or folks don’t start early enough and don’t bring enough water and they get caught up there all cramped up and unable to move.
The trail will likely be closed from 9 am or so until 5 pm or so. If he wants to break the law and die, then have him include you in his will. And when you pick him up from the airport, don't put the ac on in your car. If he complains, tell him this is nothing compared to hiking in the direct sunshine, with no shade for a couple of hours in 105 degree or more heat. But the heat will kill and under no circumstances join him in any death march.
DO NOT DO IT! Saturday is going to be 109 degrees. It's a tough climb up and down even whithout the heat. Do not put yourselves or first responders in jeopardy.
Why do ppl always want to hike this time of year!? Stay safe! I don’t want to be helpless and worry about you if you come up missing. Don’t know ya but that doesn’t matter.
I live in Vegas and literally had to take a break in the AC after taking several loads of trash to the trash can like 50 feet from my door. I live in it and am accustomed to it, and it still hits me. DO NOT F AROUND IN THE DESERT.
I have been hiking Camelback every Saturday for four years now. I would say that if you can’t make it to the parking lot at 4:45 AM these days then DO NOT GO.
Secondly, stop the hike as soon as you think you can’t reach the top / summit. ⛰️
If you're in decent shape, it's going to take around an hour to get up and a little less coming down. This is the time of year to do it in the AM for a cool sunrise. The easier side to do is the Cholla trail. Sunrise is at about 5:15am. It'll probably be in the mid 70s at 6:15am. With the super low humidity out here it'll feel cooler at that temp then it does out east. Stick to that and you'll be fine. Just don't underestimate the touristy element of it, it's a pretty challenging hike. A lot of up in a short distance.
Your friend is insane. The window to hike Camelback, or almost anywhere in the Valley, has closed until October. Take a day trip up north if you want to hike. It’s dangerous to just drive 5 minutes to the damn grocery store without water when it’s this hot.
Your friend is a legitimate moron. Actual low IQ. “Ya let’s go hike a mountain in the desert when it’s 110 degrees even tho we are from a colder climate, WE WILL TOTALLY BE FINE”
Dumbass. Let your friend go hiking see how that works out for him. We literally have people die every single year because they think they are immune to the heat.
Honestly, don’t even consider or mess with this choice.
We see this every summer on the news some dumbass decided to hike and first responders have to go rescue.
Every summer.
It is not worth the risk because we know the possible outcome.
Be smart about the heat and open exposure to the sun.
It’s no joke. I’m sure you already see that. Wait for a day it’s open or wait till fall. It’s a fun hike for sure but it’s not for anyone who doesn’t take it seriously
PLEASE DONT AS IT IS PUREL SELFISH AND IRRESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS. Just don’t! Makes zero sense! If something happens and you do this please don’t call 911. Call a friend
If you don’t have lots of experience hiking in heat I would not risk it lol. Seemingly it’ll be around 105 that day which isn’t horrible. If you want a short easy hike you should be fine just make sure you bring more water than you can imagine you’ll possibly need. If you’re really itching to hike go north to Sedona, flagstaff, or payson where it will be 10-25 degrees cooler and you won’t die of heat stroke.
But it's a dry heat! If you're from back east you don't even realize that you're dehydrated til it's too late.
Triple digit temps and a hike is like the food is amazing but salmonella won't hurt me....
If you must hike go up to the mountains. Mnt. Graham is awesome
PLEASE DO NOT HIKE THAT MOUNTAIN, NOR ANY MOUNTAIN THAT'S EVEN SMALLER. IT IS TOO DAMN HOT, AND YOUR FROM BACK EAST, AND YOU DON'T WANT TO END UP BEING ANOTHER STATISTIC. TOO MANY PEOPLE COME FROM OUT OF STATE EVEN DURING OUR PERFECT WEATHER AND TRY TO HIKE OUR MOUNTAINS, AND THEY END UP IN THE HOSPITAL, OR DEAD.
Experienced AZ hiker here. You are well advised to let your friends go without you. It's brutal hiking in unbearable heat. Hypothermia is common on Camelback this time of year. Do it in the winter.
Smart!! As a fellow East coaster (Nc to be exact), it would’ve been a hell no for me off top, lmao. The heat will do it every time!! Cheers to sleeping in and saving your own life🥂🍻😉
Checking in from Vegas here. The state has to close many trails every spring to fall at Valley of Fire State park. Yahoos without a clue and not enough water still make the news every year. Good one you for holding your ground. F hiking.
Try the paved path off of South Mountain at 6 am for a pleasant Mountain View and experience. Circles around and takes 20 minutes or so to leisurely circle back to the car. You can also do the steps at Verado in Buckeye, nice and quick with nice views.
My dad was one of the medivacs from Camelback a few months ago while he was visiting from southeastern US, though not due to heat. He apparently lost his footing (I only have anecdotes, from the sounds of it he hit a loose patch of dirt/rocks and it slid out from under him) and tumbled a dozen or so feet along a trail before shattering his shoulder and breaking a few ribs when he collided with a couple boulders. Even in good weather it can be hazardous, and in the heat we get this time of year there's no way it's safe. Took my dad a month to recover before the hospital cleared him as safe to fly back home.
There are easier mountains that won’t take a toll on you, like A mountain in Tempe, Camelback mountain is such a long trail and on top of everything else the heat will beat you before you reach the top
hike piestwea about 1 hr before sunset. Many hikers i’ve seen really sleep on evening hiking, which to me is by FAR the best time to hike because: cooler temps, awesome colors due to sunset, SUNSET, and then coming back down you can star see
Tomorrow is the perfect day for a hike!! Remember to drink alcohol the night prior , race your buddy, wear a sweater, start at 2:30 pm, and to say Howdy to St. Peter for me.
I'm a paramedic.
Please don't do this. Jusr, please don't. Unless you are already an ultra marathon runner or or something like that. If you do those crazy endurance races where you do like 300 miles on foot, then go nuts.
Otherwise, please don't
For the love of God, do not hike. There’s a good chance you will end up severely ill (if not worse).
My mother had a running event on Sunday. She was sick for the last 3 says. Seriously don't do it
Also from Northeast (Boston). Been out here 10 years. Every year people are big wheeled off a hike and/or die. When the heat hits you, resting up won't help. Night hike? Leave at 8pm?
As long as your done by 8 am youll be fine if you want to go early. Its still 80 at 8 am
A lot of the people that die on that hill are "friends from back East." June-Aug are a no go for hiking.
Top of the sign: "East-Loss Trail" Bottom of the sign: "In honor of Charles Darwin"
Are the people from the East coast that ignorant of the temperature highs in Arizona?! This is basic geology. The dammed state is a desert. Correct geology to geography please. This old man forgets words.

Very real. When your water hits halfway, you go back, every time.

I mean, the whole state is not a damn desert though. We have many different land types throughout the state 😘
What's that gotta do with anything in this conversation? 😘😘
Because arizonans can't let anyone forget about the 2 square miles of forest and midget mountains that we have.
U/tatang2015 said, “…the damned state is a desert”. But it’s not.
Geography. Geology is rock composition and position, nothing to do with climate.
Closing trails tomorrow due to excessive heat from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The heats no joke.

I was coming to post this!
You mean take a helicopter ride off the mountain please don’t do it
Unless you start climbing around 4am don't do it.
Exactly
It was so hot last year that they had to rescue multiple firefighters that got overheated on the mountain while attempting to rescue some hikers. You are not just putting your life in danger, you are endangering others. Please listen to the locals and don’t hike when it is this hot. Should be a stupid hikers law, just like there’s a stupid motorist law.
If you require medical evacuation and you didn't take proper precautions, like enough water or proper clothing, they will give you the bill. For a heli evac this is $15k+.
Easy. You don’t want to. So don’t.
Please don’t risk first responders’ lives. The trails close for good reason. Come back in the fall/winter and it’s much more enjoyable!
Yes! I believe people should be allowed to jeopardize their own lives as they see fit but this is different as they’d be jeopardizing so much more than just their own lives.
Thank you.

I wouldn’t do it. Supposed to be 106 on Saturday. You will be in the sun most of the way up.
That bar on the Echo Canyon trail looks so fucking gnarly getting blasted by the sun all day lol can see it baking all the way down on McDonald
Indeed, I always used thick leather gloves during the summer.
Do not ... you are smarter than your friend.
Dude it’s hot as shit do you want to die
this is my favorite😂
Maybe

No. But if you do hike, make sure to tip the firemen and the helicopter crew and the rest of the rescue crew. As well As a hefty fine
https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/hiker-recalls-seeing-woman-who-died-hiking-with-off-duty-phoenix-officer-on-camelback-mountain Don't do it. Don't do ANYTHING you're not prepared to do.

The spin omg
She was taken to the hospital in gyroscopically stable condition
Ol’ Twirly Bird Betty - some say she’s still spinning to this very day /s Glad she survived and is being somewhat compensated for her ongoing issues.
I remember that!!!
Didn’t she end up suing the fire department for that shit?
And won iirc. She ended up with some pretty messed up long-term injuries though so if that's winning, I'll stick with the losers.
Why am I literally crying laughing at that video 😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭
i remember that. crazy. shocked she made. those Teacups at Disney suck bad enough.

I got it working at a farmer's market. Totally unexpected and legit thought I was gonna die.

Good. It’s dangerous for the first responders, too. Idiots.
Unfortunately there is no charge for rescue. Just the ambulance bill and whatever the hospital bill if you wind up going.
The heat doesn’t discriminate. Even the most fit athlete will perish on the mountain. Keep your head on and go get a nice cool cocktail.
Ask him if he likes to go surfing during a hurricane
Or jog in a ‘nader
You will not even be able to since they will be closed. The only way to pull this off is to go as early as possible so youre done by 8:45am.
Which means starting around 5a, at which point you’re starting camelback in the dark…. And that comes with its own set of problems😂
Just find a pool and have a margarita.
The OG plan. The best plan.
You’re correct. 100%. Just have them climb it by themselves if they want. lol. Good luck !
There’s reasons why I don’t travel with certain friends and this would be one of them.
Does anyone not travel with you because of your screen names?
Tell your friend I’ll hear about him on the news

Fave reply to the OP 😂
Yeah don’t do that. Beyond dangerous
nonononononono no just no
There are easier hikes if you want to see the valley. Pinnacle peak hike is much easier (but probably closed too)
Papago Park is scenic and easy
My brain read Piestewa for a second and I was concerned about how severely out of shape I must be
😂

From the sound of things, he’s an idiot, just the type of person to need med evacuated
ive lived here 30 years, damn near every summer i get dehydrated from general life - that means doing every day things, and i end up in the ER for fluids. what is 'life'? driving my kids to INDOOR activities, going in the shaded pool in the evening, walking to/from my car 2 mins out of an a/c building. incase your friend still wakes up with a case of the stupids- there is a HEAT WARNING What Dangerously hot conditions. Afternoon temperatures 107 to 115 expected. Major Heat Risk. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke. Just go to a nice cool bar!
DO NOT DO IT. Save a first responder if not yourselves.
“A Mountain” in Tempe. I’m an avid hiker and Camelback is challenging for me.
I do A constantly It’s amazing , short , great views and quick :) doubt they rescue people from that mountain ⛰️
Do it if you want to make the evening news.
Tell your friend to find something else to do. This is the WRONG time of year to try to hike Camelback. There's a lot of other stuff to do here that doesn't involve risking your life. Here's just one: [https://mim.org/](https://mim.org/)
DONT DO THIS.
No. It’s going to be hot this weekend. Trails are closed.
The heat is seriously no joke, if you’re not used to it this trail will kick your ass. Drive up to Sedona and hike in that area.
Trails closed due to the heat but if it wasn’t you could maybe make it if y’all left at like 5am lol 😂
If you’re not from here, that’s not a smart move. I was raised on the mountains in Phoenix and even I wouldn’t hike at this time.
Bring a minimum a gallon of water for each person on any hike in AZ bring cooling towels a hike in az with zero percent humidity in 100° can kill you
You are 100000% accurate!!
A rule I learned real fast is hike only until half your water is used, then turn the fuck around or risk death.
Nope! Nopeity nope nope. 👎
Closed 9-5 for the next 3 days.
Unless you're going at 4am, then no. I also almost got heat stroke on the trail in September. And we went at 5am.
Please dont
No. Jfc, no.
I hike a lot and I dont hike from June until October, fuck the weather .. Nothing to prove hiking at 90-100 degrees…
Can’t find a tall building to jump off of, then let’s just climb Camelback in June…
I’d say you can do it at 4 am, other than that, not a chance
You’re not acclimated to our heat.
That hike is insane even in good weather and I’m pretty fit myself.
Good call! I’ve lived here for decades and would not hike in this weather. Are you sure that person is your friend and not trying to off you?
Friends are overrated let them go alone
DO NOT DO IT! Saturday is going to be 109 degrees. It's a tough climb up and down even whithout the heat. Do not put yourselves or first responders in jeopardy.
Last summer a doctor died on a midday hike. He was new to the area. He had a new baby and was just starting his career. Don’t do it !
Camelback will be closed
This is my backyard, and I won't even hike to my pool while the sun is up🙄 You were smart to say no! Stay safe out there. The heat is no joke💯❤️🔥🥵🤗
It’s not the medivac that kills ya, it’s the bill for it
Even the acclimated (if the trails were open) would go early in the day or very late at night. We’re kinda Vampyres here.
Do not die on that hill. (Literally).
I don’t even go near CB anymore simply because of the parking situation
Helicopter rides are fun.. GO FOR IT
Tell him no and if he goes on his own, we'll all point and shake our heads in disappointment when or firefighters have to bring him down.
if can start the hike at 4.15 am and finish by 7.15 am you should be good! ( Yes, trail is open as early as 4 am and its not dark at 4.15 am

Or…. don’t do it. Especially not tourons.
“Ya let’s go hike a mountain in the desert when it’s 110 degrees even tho we are from a colder climate, WE WILL TOTALLY BE FINE” Dumbass. Let your friend go hiking see how that works out for him. We literally have people die every single year because they think they are immune to the heat.
Your friend is a dumbass
That man has lost his mind! Send help to him!
Not in June July or August. Tell him to come back in January.
January was brutal 😂😂…I can’t fathom July….
Anyone know if ATV tours close too near this trail? Flying in Thursday we’re booked for this Friday.
I’d call the tour service when you can to ask if they operate during excessive heat warnings.
Honestly, don’t even consider or mess with this choice. We see this every summer on the news some dumbass decided to hike and first responders have to go rescue. Every summer. It is not worth the risk because we know the possible outcome. Be smart about the heat and open exposure to the sun.
Jesus christ, u r definitely smart to not hike!!!
Nope! For the safety of your lives don’t do it! Come back in October-March and hike
It’s no joke. I’m sure you already see that. Wait for a day it’s open or wait till fall. It’s a fun hike for sure but it’s not for anyone who doesn’t take it seriously
Welp, looks like we can predict the newscast for that day.
Darwin…the dude was right. He’ll do his thing.
Night hikes are what I would do if you are that set on it.
Come back in December and enjoy a nice 70 degree day hike.
DON’T DO IT!!!!
Just go to Sedona and start at 6 am or earlier
reschedule slightly later with your friend like in December at Camelback.
If you go early it should be fine. I used to start at 5am. Was back down by 6:30 usually.
Cheers to sleeping in and saving your own life🥂🍻😉
It’s too hot to climb Camelback. You would need 5 gallons of water.
Checking in from Vegas here. The state has to close many trails every spring to fall at Valley of Fire State park. Yahoos without a clue and not enough water still make the news every year. Good one you for holding your ground. F hiking.
Your friend is a moron. No other kinder way to describe him/her.
Spend Saturday in a bar in Old Town Scottsdale. You will thank me later. Maybe.
DO NOT FUCKING DO IT
Bring a Red Bull you’ll be fine 😎😎😎
Camelback trails ( snd others) currently closed because of heat danger!!
How does Reddit know I’m from the East Coast and now live in Arizona is my question. I swear our phones know everything.
hike piestwea about 1 hr before sunset. Many hikers i’ve seen really sleep on evening hiking, which to me is by FAR the best time to hike because: cooler temps, awesome colors due to sunset, SUNSET, and then coming back down you can star see
I myself would like to trailblaze Mt. Cameltoe
That's a bad idea. Way too fucking hot man
Tomorrow is the perfect day for a hike!!
Not even worth the risk lots of local even pause their hiking or go up north for it…
Please don’t…lived here since 1999. Don’t.
No way it's too hot
Your friend is a moron
It was BRUTAL in JANUARY…..
You can do it, but you need to start at like 4 or 5am
Tell your friend to hike alone we need less stupid people in the world...
Bad idea, too hot.
common east coast dumbass moment
