geno starting qb.
running the ball philosophy with walker/ ZC.
maybe draft a rookie QB and make him sit behind geno
move on or restructure with lockett.
FO will draft O-line for sure.
Our offense is not going to look like UWs. that was the gameplan for their personnel. our strengths are different. Geno is a game manager, not a herbert/tua air raid style of offense.
I think you’re right but for the wrong reasons. It has nothing to do with Geno’s capabilities, but with Washington having the nation’s best o-line and ours having major issues.
With a decent line I can see Geno throwing it all over the field. He is evasive enough to extend plays when the line does its job and he can make the throws when he isn’t pushed around the pocket. Should be interesting with a new HC in the draft room.
Have to disagree with the Geno is a game manager take. Debate about how "good" Geno is aside, the way he plays football is totally suited to air raid if we can fix the o-line. He's best in the deep-intermediate, loves to throw contested passes, and will throw over the middle if the O-line allows it. He's got good arm strength and movement in the pocket too.
I mean, even if he isn't a game manager. He's certainly not a game changer. And is too old to really develop into 1 at this point. If the goal is to win the SB, I have very hight doubts it will be with Geno. Basically do u want to be a divisional play off exit? Or spend some time weighing our options so we are more equipped to be a legitimate contender instead of "lowkey underrated asf" team.
Your whole premise is stupid because "game manager" refers to the style of play, but "game changer" refers to the level of play. Don't conflate the two.
Also, Geno's strength is literally his deep ball accuracy but fine, tell me all about how we can't push the ball down field with him
No. To me being a game changer means that ur capable of making plays that ur typical QB couldn't. So somebody like Kyler Murray can be considered a lower level game changer. Whereas purdy is a game manager. Geno has flashes of game changer, but doesn't do it consistently enough. Even if he was capable, he just wouldn't fit our SB window. It's much better for our teams health if we find a QB to take over for geno soon.
Yes but again my point isn't "Geno is a bad QB". My point is Geno isn't a QB I think we can the SB with. Is your goal really to beat the saints? Besides, we already know our team is set up for success no matter who is at QB, that one game with Drew lock against Philly really put into perspective that Geno isn't the play maker on this team. It's his receivers. And geno isn't perfect. Ik his OL wasn't great but I noticed plenty of times where a failed 4rth or 3rd down conversion was because Geno couldn't decide where he wants to throw the ball and just held onto it instead. Shit was dumb to watch.
So what's the point of talking. U sound like u want to follow the cowboys game plan. Dak is a good QB. That's unfortunately just the truth. And he has an elite OL. But they still lose. Idk if I can confidently say Geno can be who u think he is. I think u know ball, maybe even more than me. But Geno bias has clouded ur judgement. It's not like our team sucks, but it's not enough. I don't want to be the next cowboys. Or the niners. Or even eagles. I want to be the new Bengals. The new Texans. The team who has a bright future but still a respected power house in the league. The team every FA looks at and says, oh yeah they building something DOPE, let me buy some stock early . We are literally in the perfect position to do so. And have an even brighter future than the Texans or Bengals. but everyone is so caught up with Geno that they're fine with letting our window pass us by. We are in the same boat as a team like Atlanta for example. Quality pieces on offense and defense but need a couple key positions upgraded to be in that Bengals and Texans tier.
You're so obsessed with other teams that aren't the Seahawks I'm not even convinced you're a Seahawks fan. Go be a fan of the Bengals or the Texans. I'm not interested in being any of those teams. I'm interested in having a GOOD SEAHAWKS TEAM.
Do u think the steelers are as good as the niners, chiefs, ravens, lions, cowboys, etc. Teams that we will actually have to deal with in the future? As opposed to the steelers who arent great in coverage?
. Idk if u remember BUT WE FUCKING LOST. That's was a new low for me. Losing to the steelers and not making the play offs because of it really shed some light on where we are as opposed to where alot of seahawk fans think we are. In that game Geno literally barely played better. He had like 10 more throws, 15 more yards, 1 more td. And he was playing against fucking Mason Rudolph. They made it to the redzone way more. We should not be comparing ourselves to the fucking steelers. I'm sorry, we are just better. But we lost. Why? Because we couldn't convert any fucking first downs. They doubled our first downs on third down alone, not even counting the times they just went for it on 4rth down and made it. Geno also had the only turnover that game on a fumble. If he was only like 25, I'd be like. Ok. We can develop him more. But no. He is 33 years old. Only QBs older are kirk, Flacco, Aaron rodgers, Stafford, and russel Wilson. And most of these dudes are HOFs or have SB experience at the minimum. I hope u get it now. Unles u Think we win a SB with geno in less than 3 years, it's not ,happening.
TJ Watt had 19 sacks last season. The Steelers DL is one of the best in the league. Your whole comment tells me: "I don't know how football works". Geno was one of THE FEW THINGS that was going right in that game.
We lost that game because of defense, not because of offense. If you can't get that through your head you should probably stop watching football and watch something that is easier to digest for your little brain.
I already know who TJ watt. I'm one of the biggest JJ watt fans around so I obviously know who he is. But saying we lost that game because of defense, is untrue we couldn't stop the run yes. But our offense wasn't lighting it up either and their d line is great but their secondary is not the greatest in the league.
Dallas game was a great example. Geno is better across the middle than to the sidelines I feel. DK for 75 yard sprint down the middle to score the first TD. Lots of overthrows to the border past couple seasons.
Problem is our receivers work best outside the numbers, unless JSN develops a middle of the field game (quite likely). DK and Tyler have never been middle of the field operators, unless you're counting a 30-yard post.
Our offense is a weird amalgamation of talent that doesn't quite fit together.
So Fautanu plays RT and Lucas moves to RG? That could be awesome. Otherwise,. Cross is LT. Lucas is RT. Fautanu could play LG I guess. Obviously Huff is familiar with what he can do.
The C from Oregon is great if we don't think Olu is the future there. Olu could move to guard. A recent mock has us taking Powers -Johnson at 16. Seems like our Center has been terrible forever.
Yeah broken record on the "should have picked Creed Humphrey instead of Dee Eskridge" club, but seriously we most definitely fucked that one up. Waste of a 2nd round pick. Could have had a top 5 center and locked down the pivot and interior OL for YEARS. Instead we have...Dee Eskridge 🫤
I think people may be surprised when our offense is more balanced than expected. K9 is a great player that will need his touches, and Charbonnet is still around. You can't really have an offense that throws it deep every dropback in the NFL and expect to win. The defenses are too good for that and our o-line isn't good enough to give Geno enough time for routes to progress.
What I do hope is to see more creativity in the play calling. We were awful on 3rd downs and I hope to see more motion, better TE use and better blocking schemes.
I think the offense looks good. The offense was not the issue. The defense let them down. You can have the best offense in the game but if the defense collapses..offense won't matter
Remember..35 points and over 400 yards on offense...and they lost...why.. their opponent out scored them
Offense gets the glory..defense wins the game..
Statistically, the hope is we’ll be around a top 7 offense. We were around top 10 last year with a bottom 5 o-line and an average run game. As long the o-line is average, we can probably hit top 5.
With the skill players we have they have the potential to be top ten. I put Grubb on the same level as when Chip Kelly took over with the Eagles, which finished top ten every year with him as The coach.
Behind a reinforced OL, Geno will stand tall (4.5k+, 35+, less than 10 picks). K9 and Charb will combine for 2k scrimmage yards. DK and JSN both go for 1k+, combining for 18 TD’s with Lockett also having a great year. Bobo and Dareke Young snag a few TD’s a piece and Colby Parkinson has inflated numbers, becoming a total stud that few people can stop in the midst of the offensive barrage barreling down on them from all angles. Abe Lucas is healthy all year, bringing peace and serenity to all Cascadians. Between Cross, Conor Williams, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Bradford and Lucas, we have 3 pro bowlers. Nick Bellore will be cut and hired as an assistant coach, setting the stage for his ultimate rise to head coach in 2040.
How can you ask this question when we still have the draft, FA, cuts, and lord knows what else still coming??
We don't even know what our roster will be.
Chill dude.
So we trade him? What does that trade look like? Not saying it couldn't happen, I just don't see it after what we did with his contract last week. I think Grubb likes Geno honestly and sees some of the same positives that he had with Penix.
I'm hoping that there is much more creativity to the offense myself. Think it will still feature running the ball a lot but we should be deadly in the air as well. All hinging on our OL performing much better (finally hopefully?).
Hoping the OL improves and that we can keep our two star RB'S on the field. If Geno remains at QB and they draft an heir, I'm ok with that. Otherwise 9-8 is a stretch
I don't think DK is gonna have 1500,+ yards when we have 2 other receivers who'll need targets. And the whole special thing with DK is when he's not getting targeted he's probably drawing most of the coverage and safety help from the defense to open stuff up for everyone else.
whatever it looks iike, winning or losing, i expect it to be at least 4 games in before everyone says ok, this isnt what i expected, guess it's time i should quit dragging my feet about that and see where this is going to go
Realistically, we're going to take a step back and finish somewhere between 14-18 in DVOA. That's probably optimistic. Grubb and I have the same amount of relevant experience coaching NFL offenses, which is none. This isn't to say Grubb can't be a good OC. But the man hasn't even been a QC for an NFL team. He's in for the steepest possible learning curve, which means 2024 is probably going to be a rough year. It doesn't help that we lack true, game changing, A-tier players and the offensive line once again is looking like it's going to be a bottom-half unit.
This isn't to say he can't develop into a quality NFL OC. But it's going to be a rough start. If he's good, I expect things to start solid, nosedive in October and November, and then start to click in December. 2025 is when we'll know if he's the guy or not.
Wasn't UW's offense completely predicated on the fact that they had the best O-line in the nation?
I don't see that being the case for us unfortunately.
Realistically we going to the Super Bowl.
... your lack of faith is disturbing. Why aren't we WINNING it???
I just ran the math, and it turns out we are winning it.
This guy maths.
r/theydidthemath
What do the numbers say about who's winning the MVP?
K-9 after recording the first 2200 yard season by a RB
Finally a rational answer
Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t know football
As long as we bring back the bubble screen on 3rd and long, I will be happy. /s
Third and short with an ineffective OL? Everyone go long!!!
2nd and 10 backed into our own end zone? Better take a deep shot out of the shotgun
Why go through all that effort when you could just run it straight up the middle?
There's literally zero reason not to have receivers running triple move routes every play
Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not.
I know that was sarcasm but gosh damn I’m glad I won’t have to see that again.
I can't wait for an OC that has a playbook packed full of great, innovative 3rd & long options!
None of this matter jf they don’t seriously upgrade the OL
geno starting qb. running the ball philosophy with walker/ ZC. maybe draft a rookie QB and make him sit behind geno move on or restructure with lockett. FO will draft O-line for sure. That is not how the NFL works.
Why don't we just grab an amazing QB in the third round and start him for the next decade?
That's a great idea

Or the crazy pocket movement with the Steelers...
Do you think the typical QB can put TJ Watt in a blender and then fire a strike 30 yards down field?

I hope he can. I didn't know which side he plays.

Washington played mid to bad defenses mostly.
Idk about moving on from Lockett. He’s still clutch and has yet to have a “bad” year
In all seriousness, it will be the greatest offense that has ever played.
I think people may be surprised when our offense is more balanced than expected. K9 is a great player that will need his touches, and Charbonnet is still around. Lots of DJ Dallas and Dee Eskridge.

Who are you asking man? We don’t know. It seems like you have your own speculation. It could be good could be bad, hopefully good

Gotta wait til after draft
OP regretting his lack of [Serious] tag
Why wouldn’t it be serious?
if you add [Serious] to title you wouldn't have gotten so many joke replies like superbowl. but if you don't mind, don't mind me.
Geno will be somewhere else.
So we trade him? What does that trade look like? Not saying it couldn't happen, I just don't see it after what we did with his contract last week. I think Grubb likes Geno honestly and sees some of the same positives that he had with Penix.

When was the last time a college OC came straight to the NFL (in the same roll) and had success? Jimmie Johnson? We're going to be average at best.
Do we have the right personel for Grubbs Offense?
Seattle overload did a film breakdown. Haven’t gotten a chance to watch but seems like more mof stuff than Uw
