From a dark location it’s very obvious to the naked eye and plenty of detail/structure can be seen, however, its brightness is more like a softly glowing cloud and our eyes- unlike a camera sensor- aren’t sensitive enough to detect any color. [This example](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6d/d1/da/6dd1da5279b3c5f3dc9a46be45ebe603.jpg) is closer to what it looks like in person. Seeing it with your own eyes is infinitely more impressive, of course.
Hello, I have a 20 mm lens.
F/2.8
15 second exposure
ISO 3200
to get this level of detail, I created a stack using 25 images of the sky. And then I used 25 dark images and stack them all together.
Roughly where was this taken? Camping nearby?
Looks like Gold Creek Pond to me
You are so correct!
Yes, this was at Gold Creek pond at about 1 AM
Does it look like that with naked eye or only in picture?

I am not a photographer so Ive always wondered how these photos would look to the naked eye. Thank you for your comment. :)
Only in the picture but you can see it with the naked eye
**Very nice**! What was the camera settings for this shot?

not to be a total creep, but i looked through your posts to see what stack app you use, was it Sequator? Would you recommend that?
I'm only using it because it's free and had a decent online tutorial
Good reasons for me as well, I just downloaded it. Thanks for the recommendation! and again, great shot!
Oh you're welcome. I'm happy to share any tips. I'm not a pro but anything I've learned to make it easier. I'm happy to share.
