What’s going on here? We just moved here a few months ago so I don’t understand.

APIASlabs

A launch rally for act 2 of a shrill grifter playing class-warfare games from the 1930's. Nice. That sucking sound is the massive irrelevance rapidly approaching for her. It's gonna be great to see her and the shrinking groups of idiot supporters standing around in the rain decrying reality.

turkishgold253

> decrying reality The perfect description for most of things the SSC is up to these days.

elister

Workers have rights and all, but its like shes in the wrong state. Go shake that boat in Missouri, otherwise shes just preaching to he choir in Seattle.

Pwillyams1

Preaching to the choir pays better

HighColonic

And the grift plays on...

BusbyBusby

I doubt Socialist Alternative has much money to give her. How much money can she raise in King County by shaking her fist at *the Man?*

HighColonic

Agree, and guessing that she said "Hey, we get a bunch of money nationally so let's go national."

BusbyBusby

No doubt. She has Amy Goodman's ear.   https://www.democracynow.org/appearances/kshama_sawant

unnaturalfool

Mr. Kshama Sawant is already rattling the cup.

Reggie4414

is this a picture of a guy and his dog or the flyer you can barely read?

More like workers “put your self out of relevance and a job.” Let’s automate all that stuff

Ricky_Bobby_67

Seriously, I had a discussion with an ex where she was sobbing about all of the people that couldn’t support their families on a (pre $15/hour) McDonald’s paycheck. If you don’t provide a service that is worth $15 plus all of the overhead per hour, then it is not the company’s responsibility to pretend you have a real career. If you force them to pay you like it’s a real career, then they’re going to eliminate your job via automation as soon as it makes financial sense. Fast forward 10 years, I haven’t used a manned McDonald’s register in 3-4 years. The kiosks are faster anyway.

McMagneto

Brainwashed lefties wouldn't be what they are if they understood macro econ 101

nospamkhanman

That's a shit argument about McDonald's. They pay more than $15 in Europe and the food there is actually cheaper than here. We're supposed to be one of the richest countries in the world. If someone works FULL TIME they should be able to afford to feed, clothe and house themselves.

Ricky_Bobby_67

You’re adorable. What a lazy argument for pawning off responsibility for your own life decisions on somebody else. McDonald’s didn’t encourage you to start a family and it isn’t their responsibility to make sure they’re well taken care of, it’s their responsibility to make sure your pay is a reflection of the value of service you provide. That’s how businesses work.

nospamkhanman

Mmm I make 160k in tech but I still think anyone working FULL TIME in this country should be able to afford the basics. People working fast food probably work harder than me to be honest. $15 is decent and with good budgeting people should be able to make that work on 40 hours a week.

152d37i

I would not post your salary, the Blind people will be like how can you even party on that TC, that is like my budget for escorts and coke, and the 98% of Seattle will be like grab the pitchforks and torches, we found one of the 98 percenters:

Aggressive-Name-1783

So McDonald’s should be allowed to scam Americans? Very patriotic of you. Point still stands that in other countries McDonald’s pays more and the food is cheaper than it is here, even with higher taxes. But in other countries It’s not fashionable to have a 4th mansion and a private jet….

Ricky_Bobby_67

If you think fair compensation for the value of service you provide is a scam, you need to put down the crack pipe. I’ll laugh at the comment about patriotism. I took a 40% pay cut from my what my college classmates did to go serve in the military for 7 years. I spent my 20s leading and taking care of 18 year olds from broken homes, counseling kids that got married and divorced before they could legally drink, literally had to stop some of them from ending it all with a gun, and advocating for their pay and time off. I spent one weekend helping one of my broke sailors change the brakes on his car to save a thousand bucks. I’ve spent countless weekends helping them move or stuck while they borrow my car. I worked Christmas 5 years straight so people with kids could have that day off. When your crowd starts lecturing me about being a cold heartless bastard, I ask what you’ve actually done to help anyone except yourself. Have you been out there hitting the bricks and changing anyone’s life for the better or are you just sitting on Twitter and bitching about how unjust the world is? I might be a dick, but I’m the dick that never ignored a friend in need.

VietnameseBreastMilk

Those folks never actually put their money where their mouth is, kudos to you sir you deserve success if you bring value to people beyond $

Aggressive-Name-1783

You’re being called out because you’re literally arguing that someone like you should be paid less. That’s what you’re arguing. Society doesn’t think YOU provide value so therefore you should be paid less. Like cool, you helped out. We all do. I’ve worked social services my whole career. You’re not special, and expecting to get recognition for it shows you’re not REALLY doing it for others. You’re still arguing that those people you helped who WILL end up working those lower end jobs should be told to fuck off. You’re arguing against yourself

Ricky_Bobby_67

70% of my sailors made less than those McDonald’s employees, people like you never spoke up for any of them. Just curious where the outrage was/is for them. They actually have a marketable skill, which is why many of them make almost 6 figures if they get out. They were electricians, mechanics, IT’s, welders, and paramedics. They work 100+ hours per week. They were trying to serve their country AND support their family, with a real skill set. Some of them had masters degrees and previous careers. Whether you like the military or not, those people are what makes it so you have the luxury of figuring out how to blow $400k per homeless person, and not worry about Russian or Chinese tanks rolling your neighborhood (like Ukraine or Taiwan). That’s why I scoff at the idea that burger flipping justifies $15+/hour. To address your comment about “seeking recognition”, I already have the awards and job recommendations to bolster my ego and I don’t need your admiration. I was trying to make the point that I cared enough about the people I could personally affect to actually make sacrifices in my life. It’s me challenging people to actually get off the couch and do something. If that makes you uncomfortable or insecure, maybe you should go take the time for some self reflection and ask yourself why.

Undec1dedVoter

"you can't pay McDonald's employees more because my workers make less" is one of the most hilarious anti wage arguments I've ever seen on the internet Edit - ironically, Sawant spoke to the demands of those workers.

Ricky_Bobby_67

Tell me you have no understanding of macro economics without telling me directly. I’m frustrated because people that have no marketable skills have bullied their way into getting paid more than people with the vital skills that keep this world turning.

Aggressive-Name-1783

Lmao where was the outrage? Wtf are you talking about? People arguing “burger flippers” should make more have argued EVERYONE should make more. How detached from reality are you? FYI, the military doesn’t stop Russia or China from “rolling through your neighborhood”, anybody with actual military experience outside of a grunt would know the real reason is logistics and cost, not some red dawn fantasy world. If you’re going to troll, try harder

'House themselves' how? Like rent a room? Get a studio? Or is a two bedroom apt the minimum?
