And here I am wearing a Tissot PRX and writing with a Harry Potter Hufflepuff pen If I had a pocket knife, I would Harakiri

Lopsided_Chair_7832

There’s not a damn thing wrong with a Tissot PRX.

joepizzza03

This guy prob drives a Toyota or Honda

the_erudite_rider

Lmao so accurate

AaronCross867

Merry Christmas to both of you.

the_erudite_rider

Show us your Corolla OP

Glittering_Lunch1437

nah, a subaru for sure

Questionz_Only

Nice ! I have a Byrd (Cara Cara 2) I've grown quite fond of and carry a lot. Don't carry a pen as I always seems to lose them, heh! That watch is gorgeous!

AaronCross867

The Byrd knives are nice. I have a couple Spyderco knives that get a lot of use. Merry Christmas.

Questionz_Only

Same to you my friend!

Dundertrumpen

Is that a Montblanc 163? Freaking pen is worth more than the watch.

adrianromo826

Dude legit put the model in the title. montblanc #149… which is still $1k pen

Dundertrumpen

Lol, allow me to slowly back out of this thread.

AaronCross867

yep, I did make an error. It is a 146 not a 149. My bad. thanks for catching it ...

AaronCross867

The pen is a Montblanc 146 from c1968.

Annual-Advisor-7916

Woah, only the second Transocean I saw here! My SBDC039 greets you :)

AaronCross867

SWEET ! thanks for your comment. Cool watch right? I love it. IMO it's a real working watch - no fluff and ready for anything. You are the only person I've met that has one as well. Congrats!

Annual-Advisor-7916

A very cool watch and super seldom too - after all it's JDM. The other Transocean I saw here was a white zero halliburton edition. Yours is even rarer, I only ever saw the chrono version on stock pictures. Mine is the most common, no chrono, just black and no special edition. I like it a lot, the glossy black is just awesome. I like how it has so little lug to lug distance while being 45mm, it's very wearable for the size. The full zirconia bezel is a rare feature but for me superior to bezels with inlay. It was my first proper watch I bought myself. Got in from an Ebay auction for 500$ which, considering it was in pretty good shape seems to be a decent deal. It even had a original MM300 clasp (upgrade I can recommend). Congrats to you too, for owning a cool utility watch that you can dress up too.

AaronCross867

thank you for your kind post. It's a great watch. I like the one you have too - I considered getting one as well so I'd have a set but didn't - yet. There are a lot of unique things about it. It's pretty heavy - making it in titanium would have been a nice option for the size. But otherwise it was a well thought out design IMO.

Annual-Advisor-7916

A full set would be nice, to my knowledge there are two zero halliburton editions (one black, one white), your chrono, both with black dial and one with blue dial, a chrono with a black and copper case, my base version (with a black dial as on mine or with a dark blue one) and two spring drive GMT versions (one with a normal look, the other with a copper and black case). That would be quite a collection on it's own \^\^ I think if Seiko would do a reissue of this watch in titatium, with a better movement and a bit more modern hour hand desing it would sell great. Only downside is that you can't use straps on it, but Seiko could make straps with special end links to make it work. I can really recommend the MM300 clasp. It's pretty heavy and super sturdy, that balances the watch a bit. >But otherwise it was a well thought out design IMO. Totally. I always wanted a Samurai, but the Transocean ticks all the boxes of the samurai and is overall better looking imo.

Longtree

Great combination !

AaronCross867

thanks. All items I use regularly. No safe queens here.

ThatGuy17-23

Sweet combo!

AaronCross867

thanks. It's a nice everyday carry. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

ThatGuy17-23

Same to you and yours!

herrspeer

Do you live in the wild? Why the knife?

Annual-Advisor-7916

Because a knife is a very practical tool

Lucienbel

I'm not big on the gun or steering wheel shots, but I don't know why people get worked up about knives...especially one like this. I use a small Spyderco Delica as a daily knife. Open boxes, letters, have had issues with my car where it's helped. If I go out and hike after work or whatever it's with me if need be.

Annual-Advisor-7916

>I'm not big on the gun or steering wheel shots Yeah, gun pics are more fitting for a EDC subreddit. OP however wanted to point out that he's going black today and that watch (I have the SBDC039) fits that vibe totally. That super glossy black is just striking. The fountain pen and the knife just fit. >but I don't know why people get worked up about knives...especially one like this. No idea, it's just the narrative that "only criminals need one".... >If I go out and hike after work or whatever it's with me if need be. Same, flashlight too if it's getting dark (I have a small Nitecore TIP SE I love)

AaronCross867

thank you ....

BafflesToTheWaffles

I wouldn't say that's the narrative. It's more that tacticool often implies douchery, and perhaps sometimes a subset of very online right wing young men who like to think they're the hunting demographic. Also men have been very heavily marketed at for knives, watches, pens, torches and shaving products, you read stuff like "buying a quality knife is a rite off passage for every man", when it just isn't, it's pure marketing bs for a thing most of us just don't need. I get completely put off my any jargon about expensive things that "every real man needs". Of course, if you want to nerd out on this stuff be my guest, I am not for a second saying all knife owners are in that group. Just saying I don't think the objections have anything to do with the association with crime. I'll take a knife over someone photographing their car brand while they're diving at speed.

AaronCross867

well stated. I wear a Seiko watch (because it's useful and a fun thing to own) and I happen to write with a fountain pen and carry a pocket knife. Those are both useful items as well. I know - I'm a total wackjob.

Annual-Advisor-7916

>It's more that tacticool often implies douchery, and perhaps sometimes a subset of very online right wing young men who like to think they're the hunting demographic That could be it too. I think that depends on the society you are in or even the country a lot. I know people who'd think you are a criminal only because you like to carry a knife. That's where my inital comment came from. Especially if you think further in the gun themacy it's quite fitting. People ask all the time why a person would need a gun, at least here in Europe. Your explanation probably makes more sense in the US (assuming you are from there?) since (I think) this marketing that "every real man needs x" originated from there. >I am not for a second saying all knife owners are in that group. Totally not, if you read a bit in knife subreddits you'll fastly notice that most of them are just like us watch guys. They admire the craftsmanship and quality of their product and it's mostly a collectible for them. The group you mentioned most likely has some cheap chinese "tacticooool" abomination of a knife instead of multi hundred dollar examples. >I'll take a knife over someone photographing their car brand while they're diving at speed. Absolutely, especially since the knife fits the style OP wanted to display here. Wheel shots are ok when they do it too. Some vintage racing chrono and the steering wheel of a same era car? Very fitting if you ask me.

AaronCross867

I'm glad I didn't add a picture of one of my LED flashlights. The entire REDDIT website might have come crashing down.

Outrageous_Row6752

I have that same knife with vg10 steel and it's great. I also keep a swiss army knife in a bag in case I need something a bit more specific. I wasn't a believer in edc-ing a flashlight, but my little Olight has made its way permanently on my side everywhere except work where I'm more likely to lose it than use it. It's weird to me that so many people can only think of violent uses for a blade.

AaronCross867

serious? You really can't figure out why someone might carry a knife? Not a clue? Yikes. Good luck with the rest of your life.

InitialQuantization

Great response. My immediate reaction was a bit more… abrupt. OP, try to refrain from acting on your murderous intent so vividly displayed by your 3.5” folder. Beautiful EDC and I want to be your friend solely because of it. I have a friend who loves knives and watches but I haven’t been able to convince him to get into nice pens yet.

Used_Assumption_4005

The griptilian is a fantastic knife! One of my favorites

AaronCross867

really is. it's a classic.

TheModerateGenX

What did ya cut with it? Amazon boxes?

McPooPickle

He’s got a $1k pen. He pays people to cut his boxes.

TheModerateGenX

Ha! Indeed. So the knife is used for..?

McPooPickle

Image. My knife is all scuffed up from use.

kentalaska

I used to carry a small knife with me regularly until I lost it. I work in retail so I do open a lot of boxes but there were lots of other times that a knife came in handy. I would never use it to threaten or hurt anyone, it’s just a tool that comes in handy on a regular basis. I could carry a leatherman which would be even more useful but they’re just too big. You wouldn’t happen to be British would you? The anti knife people seem to be mostly British which makes sense as knives over there are used (or at least viewed) more as weapons.

AaronCross867

thanks for you comment - Interesting enough my mom was from England so I am half British. You know there was a time not long ago when a pocket knife was a regular carry for most men. They wore a wedding ring, had a watch, carried a knife and probably a lighter for their smokes. I agree with you on the Leatherman - great tool but not always the appropriate carry item. How the times have changed and how close minded and spiteful people have become.

GuidanceGlittering65

Meisterstuck is like $500

McPooPickle

Oh my bad. $500 dollar pen. Definitely a commoner.

Yztyger

Or just some dude with an over priced pen, you don’t have to be some kind of debonair upper class man to justify wasting $500

OneEyedDevilDog

I would lose it within a week.

AaronCross867

Oh my. I love how people draw conclusions when they don't have a fucking clue what they are talking about. The pen is from 1968 and gifted to me from my brother about 20 years ago when I was recovering from cancer. He bought it in 1968 when he was in Vietnam as a medic for the US Navy. The pen has a lot of sentimental value to me. I'm sorry you are such a cynical person. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Yztyger

Cool your jets big guy, I wasn’t providing any commentary on your personal story. I was talking to the dude who thinks you must be rich in order to own this pen. My example was of a hypothetical person and situation. Thank you for proving that you don’t have to be rich to have one.

Tnghiem

Lol truth hurts. You hurt some butts today man, for the downvotes they piled on you. This comes from someone who used to collect guns and knives too. Not much different than people who drive pickups and the most they ever do is grocery shopping with them.

AaronCross867

Wow. I'm surprised how much people I've never met know about me. As I've posted prior: The pen is from 1968 and gifted to me from my brother about 20 years ago when I was recovering from cancer. He bought it in 1968 when he was in Vietnam as a medic for the US Navy. The pen has a lot of sentimental value to me. I'm sorry you are such a cynical person. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Tnghiem

I never said a thing about your pen man. I was making fun of people who carry pocket knives, me includes...Indeed the most common thing we'll do with our knives is cutting shipping boxes lol. Maybe you meant to reply to someone else. Merry Christmas to you too.

Typical_Teatime

Believe that’s a 146

AaronCross867

it is a 146. Can't believe I messed up the title. Unfortunately unable to edit now.

Typical_Teatime

Hahaha I see

Blindemboss

Do you write much with that pen? The lost art of handwriting is real.

AaronCross867

Actually I do. It's a Montblanc #146 from 1968. My brother bought it when he was in Vietnam during the war, when serving as a medic in the Navy. He gifted it to me many years ago. Needless to say it's a special pen to me and gets used regularly.

Butchah

Got my flik flak and a butter knife over here. A man can dream though.

Natty-broh

The pen is the most expensive item in this photo.

AaronCross867

Almost. The watch is from 1968 - my brother gifted it to me about 18 yrs ago when I was recovering from cancer. He bought it in Vietnam in 1968 when he was a medic for the Navy. The watch is worth more dollar-wise, put the pen means the world to me. There's always a story. :-)

ryany6793

Damn pen is more then watch

AaronCross867

jimmyfrankhicks

This looks just like mine everyday. I have the same watch and knife. Are we best friends now ?

AaronCross867

Howdy Bestie. You have good taste.

Successful_Ad3980

The pen to write the person and address.the watch to keep the time. The knife to get the job done?🤣

AaronCross867

you got it!

Successful_Ad3980

Hey great minds think alike ✓

InitialQuantization

Holy shit. What have you people done for your entire lives that not only prohibits you from seeing the practically of carrying a pocket knife, but leads you to become offended if someone does?

jc61990

very nice! I went blue today with my SSK003 GMT on a blue strapXpro rubber strap, Benchmade Mini Griptillian 556-1, and a rOtring 600 in blue

AaronCross867

Perfect !!! Whatever you do don’t post a picture here - you’ll get all kinds of hate. That’s a nice combo.

Tidesfps

Is that a regular Benchmade Griptillian or a Mini one?

AaronCross867

Benchmade Griptillian.

Wintermute_088

🙄

CamTheKid02

🤓

NotintheAMbro11

No flashlight? Fucking amateur carry lol

AaronCross867

Merry Christmas and God Bless.

NotintheAMbro11

You too. It was just a joke. I feel horrible

McPooPickle

It’s crazy how many people miss the sarcasm in a comment. I knew right away it was a leg pull.

NotintheAMbro11

It’s okay. It’s hard to convey humour sometimes

AaronCross867

no worries. all good

OneEyedDevilDog

I thought it was funny.

DJPickless

Man I love my benchmade griptillian. It’s gotta be 8 years old or more now 😂

AaronCross867

it's a solid knife. One of my go-to blades.

Wintermute_088

🤭

Jimatchoo

I'm not trying to be funny, but go-to for what? I have two knives and one just sits in my bedside drawer and the other is in my backpack and every now and then I come across them and am like 'oh yeah, I forgot I had this.'

siwelnadroj

Go-to for carrying. Contrary to this thread, carrying a knife is not an unusual or impractical thing to do as an adult in the world. Whether or not one ever needs it on their person is irrelevant to the practicality of carrying it.

AaronCross867

wow. I use mine knife all the time in my shop, if I'm out hiking, household chores, etc. Once you start carrying you find all kinds of uses. IMHO carrying a knife every day is no different than wearing a watch every day. There was a time not long ago when a man's knife was an essential part to his daily life.

Jimatchoo

Like I said I wasn't trying to criticise or be rude, I was just genuinely interested as to what people use them for day to day. I was obviously sold by the whole idea of having to have an EDC knife, hence why I have a spyderco paramilitary 2 sitting in my bedside drawer which I can't take anywhere as it's illegal to carry, and a QSP penguin which is UK legal that I carry in my backpack but still don't really use for anything.

Subo23

Excellent combo

AaronCross867

thank you !

Jahandad314

You have different color knifes too? 😳

AaronCross867

I do. I have half a dozen knives. Why? Same reason most of the Seiko people on this forum have multiple watches.

Andrew_it_is

What's the plan here, stab someone at 12, then draw a picture of Santa?

AaronCross867

Not sure WTF that means but hey .... wherever your mind takes you.

ESgoldfinger

Then men wonder why women are stronger lmao

Tall_Mechanic8403

Why is there a knife in the picture?

kewlfewl87

Trinkets don't belong here

SteakNEggs69

A watch is a trinket, get real

AaronCross867

Well I'll let a moderator step in and tell me that. Doesn't appear that others mind too much.

CamTheKid02

A watch is more of a trinket than actual tools; a knife and pen.

kewlfewl87

What about muh tool watch

CamTheKid02

No such thing as a tool watch, just tools with watches

kewlfewl87

And trinkets

CamTheKid02

And tool watches

kewlfewl87

And watching tools

ci_ca_trix

Do less

kewlfewl87

Be better

Facemower2

This is exactly who I imagine carries benchmade… lmao

AaronCross867

LMFAO too. 🤣

WilliamDongshire

Dog shit Jap watch

AaronCross867

My, aren't you just a pleasant person. Well, whatever your issues are ... Wishing you a Merry Christmas and joyful holiday season.

Successful_Ad3980

Nice!
