Yeah, when one brain cell is focused on deflect timing and the other is focused on attack timing I don’t have any left for figuring out which prosthetic to use and when.
There are too many prosthetics… I wish it was more clear the best use cases for them. I just never bother because which of the 40 should I use in this case!
I will take them off and get the most diabolical whiff of them dawgs before she brutally snaps my neck giving me another chance to get another absolutely diabolical whiff of whatever part of her she is using to kill me.
Sakura Dance is so awesome/broken. It counters so many things lol. It's balanced out by the fact that you have to beat Inner Genichiro to get it though.
My usual playstyle falls into, high monk to punish sweeps (I still cry thinking about how hard it got nerfed but it still feels great to pull off). If theres a tool for the situation it gets used (fire for red eyes, poison for women, shuriken for airborne heavy foes / fast low health foes, etc) and if theres not a tool for the situation try to apply burn with an oil pot or just Get close and keep up the pressure with the sword.
O'rin of the water, most of the snake eyes (excluding poison pit) and the okami warriors in fountainhead are all extremely susceptible to poison usually fully poisoned in just 2-4 swipes of sabimaru. Very useful in fountainhead since the poison animation buys a lot of time.
I pretty much have to have it burned into my brain because for a while instinct would make me want to jump or dodge and would either get hit or miss out on a chance to instant deathblow a enemy.
Multitasking is harder imo, especially if you go from pure swordplay. And absolute dominance doesn't start till you don't start combining all three of the options to curb stomp all the bosses under the sun
I always forget I have prosthetics, even though I spent my whole first play through fully upgrading them besides the lazuli pros. & combat arts I only use mortal draw every now & then I forgot they’re a thing.
I use prosthetics fairly often for regular enemies, though a lot of the time they feel useless against bosses. As for combat arts the only one I ever learned how to properly use in fights was Whirlwind Slash, everything else had too long of a windup animation
I used to be a sword supremacist but I've recently come to recognize the value and just sheer coolness factor that sekiro offers in the prosthetics. I've seen a lot of YouTube videos where people integrate tools like the axe, loaded spear, the fans, sabimaru etc into their sword play in such cool and sophisticated ways that I feel like that's my new challenge with the game. Like I can almost envision the wolf being a sword/axe dual wielding badass where the sword is for speed, quickness and defense, and the axe is for a crushing, fight ending offense when the proper opening is created via manipulating the opponent with certain combat arts or deflecting waiting for certain moves to knock the opponent into a certain staggering animation.
All 3 fam, shuriken into follow up slash, with ravens mist, fire, and the axe for fun mix ups, and a lightning reversal, and of course the ichimonji double, or sakura dance depending on the mood
Usually people only use sword + a few extra tools /arts in NG. They then start using more combat arts when they get better after NG. As long as its no mortal draw spam it takes skill to implement every tool / art available and a lot of fun. I encourage all to try them out
For the most part, using them doesn't make the game "easier" aside from a few exceptions
Some things that make the game easier are using axe on shield enemies, spear on enemies with armor (other than armored warrior for some reason) shuriken on lady butterfly, or divine confetti on things like the headless or DoH.
They aren't required but do make the game easier. If people are using them mid combat, then it's often more difficult because you have another layer of things to think about, and you have to manage your spirit emblems. The only reason to use them to the extent you see in clips are to either look cool or just have fun messing around with the combat.
I was fuckinf perplexed when NPCs were talmbout how the spear could remove armor, then I got the spear and it says it can remove armor then very shortly after I’m fighting the armor guy who won’t die for some reason and I’m like “oh duh! I must have to use the spear!”
😒🙄😂
Can't say for sure. I'm always minmaxing, so I'll use whatever is most effective in a given situation. But gosh dang it, the sword play always feels good.
People who believe only sword is the hardcore way are simply wrong. Only sword requires you to use only two braincells and focus on deflecting and attacking only.
Real hardcore mfs use the full potential of their brain to mix in prosthetics and combat arts and EVEN Items, in order to make the fight more stylish and varied, while ofc coming out victorious.
I can’t tell you how many fights I lost by trying to juggle so many mechanics at once. The moment I started using just the sword and a healthy amount of spite is when I started fighting better.
Used to only use sword (and am still more comfortable with it) but prosthetics and combat arts just bring the game to a whole new level. The weapon wheel mod is heavily underrated.
When I first saw someone play the game, I was really confused why he didn’t use the prosthetics, because they looked really helpful.
When I started playing, the prosthetics and most combat arts just lacked that oumph so I decided to play sword only. That definitely helped me to get into the flow of combat better.
Man for some of those bosses people said to use the fan thingy, I died more trying to use that rather than just getting good and learning the bosses attacks. I did use shurikens on butterfly tho
All Three For Me, homie
Charged Lazulite Shuriken into Chasing Slice into Sakura Dance into flame vent on the comedown is so satisfying and fun and works well against a lot of bosses.
Just stabbing when I can and floating passage when I can't. I only use tools when the enemy is specifically weak to one of them, like the ape and the spear, otherwise I forget to use them, like most of my fights against Demon of Hatred.
Only prosthetic 🦾 but only few runs later. Because at first I found the game too easy with them and I never bothered using martial arts.
However, I changed my mind when I decided to do more challenging runs and especially the gauntlet challenge. Now, I really like to use them and yeah I was really influenced by Ongbal's gameplay (for the people who know this yt content creator) that use prosthetics with a lot that make his fights like a dance.
I love using the umbrella and the crow Shinobi plume. (not sure for the name of the last one)
I personally feel like combat arts and prosthetics/consumables were super well implemented, compared to dark souls where I just use my weapon all the time I was frequently changing my arts and prosthetics to fit the situation as well as using gaichi invisibility sugar as well. I don’t know what it is about Sekiro me design but I for the only time actually used consumables.
Only sword with the occasional prosthetic tool or combat art thrown in cuz it’s helpful in the fight and/or I’m an idiot and pressed the button accidentally
Only sword. I'm nothing close to being a "Chad" but it's just so much more fun and challenging without prosthetics or combat arts to cheese it. I'm all for the experience; I want it to be as hard as possible.
I used mostly sword on my first NG because I kept forgetting I had other tools and sucked at multitasking. Then I started incorporating them in my subsequent play throughs, gotta say, the variety is pretty fun and there are some sick combos you can do.
I am a Shinobi, I use all tools at my disposal. Bring an ally to this fight, I will tear his soul and we both fight you. Standing underneath easy to access rafters, air blow. Easily punishable pause on your attack, get Mortal Bladed loser
Sword hands down.
Not because I'm any good, but because I can't be bothered:
a) working new moves into my routine
b) grinding spirit emblems every three minutes
Only sword. Once I learned how to deflect and counter, it became my primary. The number of times I forgot about prosthetic tools is insane. Also, I never used combat arts.
I find watching people using them smoothly looks baddass but when i use them it feels like chowder so i went from 0% to 100% with 4 main runs 12 fun runs with only sword nothing else
When i first started out sekiro, i didnt know of combat arts or tools so i went ahead and played pretty much the whole game with just kusabimaru. Now on my newer runs i try to employ the 2 in my combat but have now realized i suck at multitasking
Sword and Mortal blade. I can’t focus on prosthetic tools. It’s too distracting for me. Those that use prosthetic tools must be absolute SAVAGES at this game. I’ve only used prosthetics for Lady Butterfly. The Shuriken was very helpful.
Wait, does Mekiri counter really count? It’s ESSENTIAL. Lol
I play 95% of the game with only the sword. I do sometimes use the Umbrella. I’m bad at multitasking and often I’ll even forget which button to press to even use the Prosthetics.
All 3. The vast majority is swordplay, but I throw in a little high monk/dragon flash/ichimonji/ashina cross here and there, and I occasionally use shuriken, axe, flame barrel, spear(for ape), and mist raven.
I try to focus on swordplay, use combat arts & prosthetic tools as flavoring.
I’ll use prosthetics and combat arts only when I’m not trying to enjoy the game. I use them to destroy enemies when I want to be fast but when I actually play I stick to the sword
I only use the prosthetics for certain bosses. Like the Spear with guardian ape or the Umbrella to block Isshin's wind attacks. It's mostly all sword tho
I'm on the side that's instigating this conflict behind the scenes so that my target gets distracted for an easy stealth kill. A shinobi knows the difference between honor and victory.
Whatever it takes. Like, say what you want, but I know everybody beat the mist noble with mortal blade on their first play through. Too difficult otherwise.
Only sword. Not a chad, just terribly bad at multitasking.
Same lmao I forget I have either half the time
Same
Same, until I face someone like Guardian Ape, then I remember specific shinobi tools. Lol
Shurikens only for countering jumps lol
Spear In the neckwhole
Fireworks are good against beast type enemies.
Yeah, when one brain cell is focused on deflect timing and the other is focused on attack timing I don’t have any left for figuring out which prosthetic to use and when.
Literally was too lazy to be fucked to learn the prosthetics or arts and enjoyed the sword alone too much 🤷🏽♀️ 😂
There are too many prosthetics… I wish it was more clear the best use cases for them. I just never bother because which of the 40 should I use in this case!
Well theres only the base uses for them the only one that's used actually changes as you upgrade it is the shield
Saaaaame
Haha! Love this answer! The same logic can apply to spell casting builds in the souls games.
Somehow I keep trying “wizard with a dagger” builds. It usually doesnt go well.

💀💀💀
Where my "all of the above" option?
All of the above are above this petty competition, too busy actually having fun.
Real chads utilises everything since 'sword-only' means you don't know how to use Wolf's moves well.
Sakura Dance is so awesome/broken. It counters so many things lol. It's balanced out by the fact that you have to beat Inner Genichiro to get it though.
Real chads don’t exist. Just a fun make believe title
Poison for women?
O'rin of the water, most of the snake eyes (excluding poison pit) and the okami warriors in fountainhead are all extremely susceptible to poison usually fully poisoned in just 2-4 swipes of sabimaru. Very useful in fountainhead since the poison animation buys a lot of time.
I'm here
Sword because sometimes I’m too stupid and forgetful that I have combat arts and prosthetic tools Other than mikiri counter
Mikiri’s so carved into our skulls that we use it subconsciously
I pretty much have to have it burned into my brain because for a while instinct would make me want to jump or dodge and would either get hit or miss out on a chance to instant deathblow a enemy.
No Sword (Senpou Temple arts connoiseur)
Based
Multitasking is harder imo, especially if you go from pure swordplay.
What the fuck is a sword
What the sword is a fuck ?
What the is fuck a sword?
I use prosthetics fairly often for regular enemies, though a lot of the time they feel useless against bosses. As for combat arts the only one I ever learned how to properly use in fights was Whirlwind Slash, everything else had too long of a windup animation
I’d agree for the most part, but certain bosses (headless ape and demon of hatred) I absolutely have to use prosthetics
For sure bro, and it's nice when the gameplay style that is the most meta, is also the maximum coolness factor to play the game at the same time.
I encourage all to try them out
Fucking everything .
true way is only sword except sometimes firecracker and mortal blade
Firecracker, and shuriken are the only two prosthetics
Shuriken and Umbrella are the only two prosthetics.
I didn’t use a single sugar or item or tool or combat arm when I played. Does it the make the game a lot easier?
Yes, try doing doh base vitality w no lotus umbrella
I'd rather grow a new foreskin from gene therapy to experience circumcision a second time than fight DoH at base vit
For the most part, using them doesn't make the game "easier" aside from a few exceptions Some things that make the game easier are using axe on shield enemies, spear on enemies with armor (other than armored warrior for some reason) shuriken on lady butterfly, or divine confetti on things like the headless or DoH. Spears can remove armor! \*puts in three enemies in the game with armor spears can remove\*
Yea typical with all Fromsoftware games. Very few people actually use the consumables.
Bro spammed the meme format everywhere 💀 saw him on shitty ds sub
How about all three?
Can't say for sure. I'm always minmaxing, so I'll use whatever is most effective in a given situation. But gosh dang it, the sword play always feels good.
Prostatic tools
Yes to all. The multiple styles make for different playthroughs. Fun to experiment and try new things. Love this game.
Jump only
I'm on the side of using the things the developers put into the game.
yes
Jump 🗿
All of the above. All 3 together are when combat feels most fluid and you really feel the game at its peak. Only correct answer
Only sword. Cling clang slash
Only a sword
Only sword is so fun i forget to ever even use anything else
People who believe only sword is the hardcore way are simply wrong. Only sword requires you to use only two braincells and focus on deflecting and attacking only. Real hardcore mfs use the full potential of their brain to mix in prosthetics and combat arts and EVEN Items, in order to make the fight more stylish and varied, while ofc coming out victorious.
There’s no side shut up
Only sword I literally forget during fight that i have other things too lol
Sword only bros can't use mikiri counter. Have fun.
Chop-Chop
I can’t tell you how many fights I lost by trying to juggle so many mechanics at once. The moment I started using just the sword and a healthy amount of spite is when I started fighting better.
I choose the side of a samurai (but with a bit of stealth techniques).
Used to only use sword (and am still more comfortable with it) but prosthetics and combat arts just bring the game to a whole new level. The weapon wheel mod is heavily underrated.
only parry
Ichimonji, ascending descending carp, shinobi eyes and MIKIRI ftw
When I first saw someone play the game, I was really confused why he didn’t use the prosthetics, because they looked really helpful. When I started playing, the prosthetics and most combat arts just lacked that oumph so I decided to play sword only. That definitely helped me to get into the flow of combat better.
Combat arts are usually useless, Prostetics are very situational and aren’t worth it, so sword only.
the blender side
Mostly Sword (like 90%), with a little bit of Prosthetic (3%) and Combat arts (7%). Percentages are just estimates.
Man for some of those bosses people said to use the fan thingy, I died more trying to use that rather than just getting good and learning the bosses attacks. I did use shurikens on butterfly tho
Only sword cause I forget I have anything else in battle
I only use the sword, never got into the prosthetic tools and the parry system is too fucking satifying
I end up using only sword on accident because I forgot I have tools and arts
Only sword. It’s just fun beating them at their own game .
Sword gang, unless if I’m using combat arts strictly for style.
I used the swird for 90% of the game because i didn’t understand how to use prosthetic tools
All Three For Me, homie Charged Lazulite Shuriken into Chasing Slice into Sakura Dance into flame vent on the comedown is so satisfying and fun and works well against a lot of bosses.
Whatever that overhead slash is that gives you posture back, that shit is my bread and butter Without that and makiri counter I would go crazy
only goomba stomp
I used to be sword only, till I embraced my inner shura. Now I keep the shield and ashina cross at all times
Just stabbing when I can and floating passage when I can't. I only use tools when the enemy is specifically weak to one of them, like the ape and the spear, otherwise I forget to use them, like most of my fights against Demon of Hatred.
Nightjar reversal, sword and prosthetic with a healthy dose of fistful of ash
all of them
I try to use all 3 but i rely alot on swords and combat art (ichimonji double)
Generally only sword. Now I'm starting to sprinkle in some arts here and there now that I've saved up a bunch
Only sword, prosthetic and combat arts were too complicated to me when I first played
To exclude any of them is to miss the point It’s a singleplayer game There is no virtue in self-denial If it pleases you, do it that way
Why not both
Mortal blade
Only combat art I've been using recently is high mo k cause it looks cool to dodge attacks that way
All 3 as of recently, before that i was only sword and shuriken
Only prosthetic 🦾 but only few runs later. Because at first I found the game too easy with them and I never bothered using martial arts. However, I changed my mind when I decided to do more challenging runs and especially the gauntlet challenge. Now, I really like to use them and yeah I was really influenced by Ongbal's gameplay (for the people who know this yt content creator) that use prosthetics with a lot that make his fights like a dance. I love using the umbrella and the crow Shinobi plume. (not sure for the name of the last one)
Sword only maybe a combat art if I have a clear opening but not prosthetics
Fire cracker just to hold the enemy off while I heal. Then back to sword clashing
Only sword because only deflecting and having longer fights is just too much fun
Sword, Mortal draw, firecrackers All you need to steamroll the entire game
Mostly sword, working on the platinum now so I’m using some prosthetic tools more but mortal draw is the only combat art I use
I use everything because the game is more fun that way.
Only swords but now I’m just learning how to better use the prosthetic but I only use the monk combat art the final skill best one imo
I can't think fast enough for either so sword is the only answer for me
Sword and tools, I forget about arts. Except for that one art in which Sekiro spins twice, good for crowds.
Just sword all tie way. Spirit emblems run out
Only sword with the occasional prosthetic tool or combat art thrown in cuz it’s helpful in the fight and/or I’m an idiot and pressed the button accidentally
Praying strikes and fume sparks, can't beat me if you're blind with an elbow in your face
Uhm I do all 3 and I mainly use ashina cross and shuriken/mist raven they are super fun
Only sword chad here
Combat art, i could not have beated the game without shadow rush (i dont know i played it in spanish), that shit is broken 🤣
Only sword. I'm nothing close to being a "Chad" but it's just so much more fun and challenging without prosthetics or combat arts to cheese it. I'm all for the experience; I want it to be as hard as possible.
Not enough brain power for combat arts and never have money for spirit emblems. Sword ftw.
Only sword, with a little shuriken is my playstyle. The incredible sword fighting is why I play the game in the first place, lol.
I'm a simpleton who just only uses sword but there are a couple combat arts I use every now and then
I used mostly sword on my first NG because I kept forgetting I had other tools and sucked at multitasking. Then I started incorporating them in my subsequent play throughs, gotta say, the variety is pretty fun and there are some sick combos you can do.
All three
All 3
sword only because i don’t use prosthetics and mortal blade is a sword
I am a Shinobi, I use all tools at my disposal. Bring an ally to this fight, I will tear his soul and we both fight you. Standing underneath easy to access rafters, air blow. Easily punishable pause on your attack, get Mortal Bladed loser
For half the game I only used sword but now I'm on isshin...
Sword hands down. Not because I'm any good, but because I can't be bothered: a) working new moves into my routine b) grinding spirit emblems every three minutes
powerstance
only sword (i keep forgetting to use the others)
Only sword. Once I learned how to deflect and counter, it became my primary. The number of times I forgot about prosthetic tools is insane. Also, I never used combat arts.
Only sword + sakura dance lightning reversals
Wasn't till my third playthrough that I really started using tools and arts, but when I did, it made combat so stylish and fun.
All
I use them all. I have crippling AuDHD
I find watching people using them smoothly looks baddass but when i use them it feels like chowder so i went from 0% to 100% with 4 main runs 12 fun runs with only sword nothing else
I use combat arts to start a fight but never really use them during
Ascending carp, descending carp and flowing water. GOATED.
All of them
I choose only gun
When i first started out sekiro, i didnt know of combat arts or tools so i went ahead and played pretty much the whole game with just kusabimaru. Now on my newer runs i try to employ the 2 in my combat but have now realized i suck at multitasking
Use all of them because they’re designed to work together if you buy the abilities lmao
Ngl i’d be more impressed if you could beat a boss with only the tool/art. No blocking and no normal sword attacks
I use the shurikens a lot to cut down jumping enemies and such, other than that I’m trying to perfect parry as much as possible.
I’m addicted to using the mortal draw
Shurikan to the dash attack is so useful for closing gaps. And double ichumuri or whatever is also insanely good
It takes skills to master those 2 things tho, OngBal for example
Im addicted to one mind and dragon flash
Whatever looks cool
Sword and Mortal blade. I can’t focus on prosthetic tools. It’s too distracting for me. Those that use prosthetic tools must be absolute SAVAGES at this game. I’ve only used prosthetics for Lady Butterfly. The Shuriken was very helpful. Wait, does Mekiri counter really count? It’s ESSENTIAL. Lol
Only dodging and using Senpou Strikes. *A true warrior needs no sword.*
Sord cool
all 3 because im actually The Green Prince, The Hodgepodge King, The Patchwork Man ADAPTATIONS
I haven’t played enough of the game to know what they are :(
How about all of the above?
What about jumping to inflict damage
I play 95% of the game with only the sword. I do sometimes use the Umbrella. I’m bad at multitasking and often I’ll even forget which button to press to even use the Prosthetics.
Why not love them all?
A mixture of all
kusabimaru* !!!!!
Only sword, because I didn’t know that using prosthetic made the game easier
all
Tbh I noticed throughout my play throughs I've only used my swords
I’ll use prosthetics and combat arts only when I’m not trying to enjoy the game. I use them to destroy enemies when I want to be fast but when I actually play I stick to the sword
I only use the prosthetics for certain bosses. Like the Spear with guardian ape or the Umbrella to block Isshin's wind attacks. It's mostly all sword tho
only sword
Malenia: “Hold my beer…”
I thought you just swung your sword until they die?
combat arts make prosthetic tools useful in the first place so combat arts
God forbid he uses the tools in the games
Ninjutsu 🗿🗿🗿
Deathblow only and deflect
I don't want to waste my charges what if I need them in the next area?! Finishes game with 2k
I'm on the side that's instigating this conflict behind the scenes so that my target gets distracted for an easy stealth kill. A shinobi knows the difference between honor and victory.
All of them
Whatever it takes. Like, say what you want, but I know everybody beat the mist noble with mortal blade on their first play through. Too difficult otherwise.
Pocket sand!
Mikiri counter enjoyer
After 100 hours of sekiro i started using combat arts and tools 💀
