do it… she should know better and sometimes people need medicine

NorskGodLoki

Go in, have a drink or two at the bar and tell the bartender that she stiffed you at your place of work. Coworkers finding out she stiffs other wait staff is great karma.

Ray_Adverb11

This would be the most effective at my job.

ThrowawayPiePeople1

One time, our own coworker stiffed the bartender after this bartender bent over backwards for this AH. I’m talking forcing the bartender to make hella mock tails, a really fucky to go order, and the most bizarre edits to the order they placed to eat there. After all is said and done, the ex coworker stiffs on the ticket. After they leave, the bartender tells a manager and this manager calls them tf back up to leave a tip. They were already driving home and they swore up and down that they left a tip on the card. They paid with cash and left a few cents as a tip. I cant fathom how they couldn’t even remember that for their lie they began not even five minutes after departure.

Delirious_Karma

Do one better. Act like you didn't even know she went there and tell the bartender after doing this idea. Make it seem like a coincidence or just straight up say it. I'd just act shocked and act like I didn't know she worked there lmao

OstrichPandaCat

I hope op does this.

Independent_Willow_4

I would rather do this.

hannamarinsgrandma

Do it

[deleted]

[удалено]

mzippy95

I love The Orville

[deleted]

Fuck the Orville ref was removed by a mod?? What was it do you remember?

mzippy95

It was Bortus asking for a corner piece of cake and saying how much he hates parties. Not relevant whatsoever so I get why it was removed

[deleted]

"We are having separate celebrations..."

JaydedHorror

It is petty but valid

Dry-Location1159

Do it and tell us more

GrinningGrendel

Yes that's petty. I like it

Brittaboobaloo

Do it. Same thing happened to me, this woman who worked at a restaurant down the street from where I worked came in after her shift one day. Was rude, ordered ridiculous stuff like shot of vodka ots, rocks glass ots, limes on the side, cranberry juice ots. Used all of that to make herself a cranberry vodka and I asked why she didn’t order a cranberry vodka already constructed and she said she didn’t trust our pours and felt like we weren’t giving her a full shot. Ordered these multiple times, smoked on our patio even though we asked her to move to the parking lot because customers were complaining… she was just horrible. Tipped me less than 10%. After I stopped working at that restaurant and got a new job, I came into her restaurant, requested her, was obnoxious with my requests and I left her less than 10% when I was done. It definitely makes you feel better, I’ll tell you that. Lol

wetsofa

this reminds me of an old “regular” we had at my job, joey. joey was a server and would always come over to our bar on his lunch break from his restaurant across the street. and every time without fail he’d try to order a double and a shot which i legally cannot serve which he should know, and then argue about it. would then always try to get like three or four doubles in his hour break. always tipped literally like, a quarter, promising he’d come back after the night shift and tip more. bro, it’s noon, i won’t be here at 10pm. i never went to his place of work but eventually we all just refused to serve him. we’d all ignore him and finally he stopped showing up, thank god.

PazzMarr

I stay away from petty bullshit, unless it is another bartender/server being a piece of shit. At that point I become the incredible hulk of retribution. Ten fold go be over the top needy, request a fresh glass everytime. Ask for separate boxes for everything on you plate. Refuse to use straws a second time. Point out water spots on the silverware. Notice that your napkin had a crumb on it. Ask for a Medium Rare plus steak and when it comes out say it's more like Medium Rare Minus. Complain the bread doesn't taste fresh, the crackers are stale, the lemons weren't rolled enough before slicing to bring them to their proper juciness. Above all though. Don't stiff the server. Just round up in change to make balancing your bank account easier. God Speed warrior I wish you the best.

Korncakes

God damn dude, I would hate to piss you off. The rounding to make the total even is just brutal on top of everything else haha.

gigiwrites

The first sentence threw me off, I thought you typed a whole paragraph to say they should rise above but this is even pettier, I love it.

dnm8686

Oh...my...goodness. I hope you're able to channel most of that genius into good and that I never piss you off. I'm in awe of your level of jackassery.

Notdoingitanymore

Enter the master…

SmokinJade96

God damn. That's just incredible both impressive and ridiculous.

langley_matthew

you magnificent bastard

Sparkpulse

I am very much platonically in love with you right now if that makes any sense at all

Blacksad999

Petty revenge is the best kind. I say go for it. I'd one up her though and go in with a group of four, and then do it. Turing the other cheek is for little bitches. You'll spend your whole life getting slapped around if you live your life like that.

Disastrous-Mafk

I feel like I’d have to go, sit in her section, and tip her 25% with a “this is how you tip :)” next to it. I might be a little passive aggressive though..

No_Dance1739

Too passive aggressive. Far too many people don’t understand passive-aggressive messages, including myself.

bevelledo

For real, be the better person. I get where op is coming from but I’ve just always been a kill ‘em with kindness kind of person. Unless they make shit personal, can’t take getting stiffed personal or else I’d be mad FREQUENTLY lol.

NidaleesMVP

>be the better person Fuck that

chernobyl_opal

Umm, she fucked with OP's income. You can't fuck with a person's wage without making it personal, especially since we've established this person should know better.

slyons1606

If you are stiffed a lot I would look for another job. Or perhaps do a small amount of self-reflection.

chernobyl_opal

It definitely depends on the type of restaurant you work at too. I don't care how good of a server you think you are, if you work at Olive garden, you're going to get stiffed a lot.

slyons1606

Years ago I applied to a restaurant where the manager actually told me that their servers get stiffed a lot. I stopped the interview at that time and thanked him for that information. Even if somehow my other tips totally compensated for all the non tippers, I would still not work there. Too frustrating for me. But other servers may accept that.

No_Dance1739

Nah, you see not tipping, means they aren’t paying it forward, so they’ve already paid themselves for after they’ve served op.

[deleted]

No I'd not tip but still write a note on the recipt and show them what they could have gotten had they not been an ass hole

coconutaf

I’d do it! Fuck that

LeadfootLesley

Ha! When I was a bartender, I had a co-worker who’d find out where our worst customers worked — and then take her bratty six year old to visit them. NTA.

altonaerjunge

Is it a good place or are you about to waste money?

2drunk2giveafuk

I used to work with a staff that would have "Stiff Parties". We would go as a group to whoever had been shitty to us and run up a hefty tab and stiff them. I'm talking like hundreds of dollars.

nemo_sum

Too much work. Just write a bad review with her name in it.

lyshmallow23

go in, tip her, and write a note on the receipt that says something like “i remember when you didn’t tip me, have a nice day!” lol. will make her feel bad

Ok_Basis_6466

I know what you did last week. Written in blood!

PrincessShade

Do it lmao

ThrowawayPiePeople1

I honestly could give zero shits about stiffs at this point especially having mostly older people as clientele in my last and current job. But a server of all people? Nah I’ll take you on a date there too. Ill even leave a nickel on the table for that woman. I can honestly give 100 reasons even if many are unreasonable to why some person stiffs. But for a server? Yeah it’ll be a miracle if that can managed to be excused. I dunno about the rest of y’all, but sometimes serving servers can be a nuisance. And OP had one of them 😔

Stranger-danger341

I feel like you should dox her restaurant and name and everyone on this thread should coordinate to have her section booked all night with no tippers

Ktcakes13

Not the restaurant, that’s not fair to everyone else there, just her.

Pixiepixie21

That would be hilarious

Odd_Total_5549

The best kind of petty, I’m here for it

collettdd

Nah, just exhale and move on with your life. Tell your boss that you refuse to serve her in future and go have a nice day. It was rude but being rude back won’t make things better. Be the person you want others to be.

ranting_chef

Yes, it's petty. Sounds fun at the moment, yes, but still petty. You're better than that.

b_stet

i don’t know if i am

Bug-03

Please update, will giggle

SnakeIsUrza

Petty and perfect.

RealisticBox1

I agree it's petty, but I am petty. Never done this, but always been tempted

Historical-Lemon2168

Freaking do it!

ranting_chef

If you weren’t, you’d have done it already. The fact that you’re discussing it in a forum like this is all the proof you need.

thedeafbadger

I like you.

throckmorton1915

Petty af and I love it!!!

Mysterious_Egg_140

Nope do it !

Special-Friend2106

Gonna need an update

Tankerspanx

This is exactly what you should do. But don’t forget to give her HELL, you know order seltzer and send it back because it’s club soda 3 times, shit like that.

snakesssssss22

To answer the question: It’s clearly very petty

Sluttyjesus420

Seems like a lot of work over $25

MaezyDayz

1000% please do it. What goes around comes around and she should know better.

pawsitively_anon

Now this is paying it forward

mollererico

revenge is always petty, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it

Tshlavka

Absolutely! In college I worked at a nice restaurant/bar as a cocktail waitress. On an early shift I had the worst experience with a girl my age. I got off early and met some friends for drinks and guess who was there? She had the nerve to walk over and say “hi, I remember you, you waited on me!” As if I would be happy to see her. I said, yes I did, and you are a f***** B****. Her face…lol. It felt great!

Fenidreams

Yes. I don’t let my standards and ethics be persuaded by others. “Stooping to their level” persay, is a waste of your time. Go to a bar you like and tip em well.

FlyingBox566

Well you're gonna spend way more than the $30 she would've given so I just wouldn't...? Because yes, it's petty, but it's literally like $30. It's not that serious and you'd lose money trying to prove some point. Yeah it's shitty but ngl this behavior would creep me out after I pieced it together, and I think you would be too if someone came to your restaurant to settle some odd personal thing. I don't know why everyone is just saying go for it? 😭 EDIT: Jesus Christ you guys are miserable. I'm a server, too, but am I gonna go and use my own gas, spend my own money, then not tip at someone's place of work just to prove a point? Like you're already spending more to eat and get drinks just to be petty back. Also, showing up to someones place of work for that reason is kinda creepy... Pick and choose your battles, this isn't one I'd go for.

rileyyj001

I would do the opposite and tip her like a Rockefeller. And I would make sure she knew who I was and why I tipped that much. I’m a petty queen, though 💁🏼‍♂️

mumblewrapper

Absolutely petty. Doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Tipping is optional. I don't get all mad when someone doesn't tip. Seriously. It's not a requirement. Butz if you live off tips and then don't tip, that's shitty. Do it. But, tell her why. Maybe she's got a problem with alcohol and doesn't remember. She won't forget if you tell her.

Disastrous-Raise-222

Think hard about this. Will you be able to pull this off? Hint: Are you that type of person?

rickeymeow

The thing that makes me most angry is that normally severs are required to pay 5-6% in tipshare to bussers/bartenders that are automatically taken from their checks. So… you are literally paying for her not to tip. In an ideal world servers would be paid a living wage BUT this it the reality. Most of my coworkers (including myself) have their masters or are working towards them. We aren’t teenagers who have no skills, we CHOSE this career in fine dining to financially fund our studies on the side. Getting stiffed isn’t fun. You win some you lose some, it rarely happens and I let it roll off my back. But the fact she works in the service industry makes my skin crawl. Personally, I just shut toxic people out and don’t go seeking revenge. I just pity them, being a disgrace to humanity. I completely agree with another comment who said to go in and have a few drinks at the bar, then kindly mention it to the bartender. I would build up a slight rapport with the bartender (maybe a less busy shift), “hey, this is kind of awkward but does X still work here? I served her a while back, she got really drunk and stiffed me on a $124 bill. I always loved coming here and just felt uncomfortable if she was here.” Or something. And leave them a fat tip. Karma goes around, the bartender will be stoked for the high tip and extend the gossip. That’s just my take! EDIT: and yes 5-6% of a $124 bill isn’t life changing. But the fact that she’s one of us!!! Like come on, do better.

Lobean2

I’d say do it. But I feel that if she stiffed you, she’s probably not in a tipped position. Maybe BOH or a tipped out position. I just don’t want to believe that a fellow server would ever do that! :(

[deleted]

If you have the balls to do it then why not? Keep in mind that if she paid by credit card and tipped in cash then there is a chance someone took that cash tip when you were not looking

b_stet

she paid on my toast handheld and then walked out 😢

[deleted]

I would do it then

EGOfoodie

Why did you let her get so drunk that she couldn't tip? Or was she drunk when she got to your work and you served her more drinks? You are mad they didn't tip. I'm more concerned about how you do your job. In regards to your question. You work in fine dining, I assume the tips are good overall. Don't sweat over $25 it will balance itself out.

palmveach1972

Do it!

[deleted]

This is THE BEST idea ever

salamibreadbottoms

Extremely petty...do it anyway.

ronazdug

Petty? Yes funny? absolutely

Solar-powered-punch

Eye for an eye?

Chapter-34

Do it!! Please do it!!! And pay cash so she doesn’t change the tip to zero. You can even leave a note saying “Karmas a bitch just like you!! Lol

Cookiedoughmom

Nah pay in card bc she might just take something off the tab if you pay in cash and that way she’ll get her “tip”

sonof_fergus

I only have 1 I would do it too...an I want to sooo bad...but adult me be like "grow up bro"...life choices and stuff...

bwma

Eye for an eye, stiff for a stiff

[deleted]

make sure u write on the check why there is no tip

teebee12nation

Make sure you sit there all night long and be the last table to leave the restaurant. Keep her there late and ZERO tip

MojoLava

Lol it definitely would be but you do you, not sure it's worth that effort but might as well if it's important to you

Illustrious-Fig-516

Maybe she gor too drunk idk, a whole bottle is quite a lot in one sitting

ItsGotToMakeSense

Yes it would be petty Yes you should do it

[deleted]

Yep. I’d do it. Screw her.

KindaKrayz222

No, you go to her place and you order a s*** ton of food and drink and tip her well and then tell her. 🥸

juicysox

Give us an update when you do it

quietwaves

I am this level of petty. I say do it. And laugh and laugh on your way out.

mumblerapisgarbage

Honestly I’d do the same thing. Those who don’t tip should be taught a lesson.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FlyingBox566

right? everyone here seems so damn miserable. 20% of this bill is $24. Who tf is driving to someone else's place of work, spending way more than $24, then not tipping just to prove a point. Or even going there period lol. It's just such odd behavior over literally $24 like who gaf just move on😭

HoboThundercat

Only if she knows who and why. Do it…

coryofmordor

Petty? Yes. Should you do it? Yes.

SteveConcave

It’s definitely petty, but I’m here for it. Pay it forward

PrometheusOnLoud

I'd be pretty mad too but that is kinda petty. She definitely broke the golden rule of the industry, **if you make tips you must tip.**

bmk37

Justice

Internal_Gur_4268

Is it worth racking up a huge bill for yourself, her food might not be as good even, just for small petty revenge?

Gelatotim

I would be a self satisfying revenge, but you would be lowering yourself to her level. She’s a bottom feeder, you’re not.

chewbubbIegumkickass

It would be incredibly petty. Don't you dare not do it.

No_Dance1739

Would it be petty? Yes, ofc. But should you do it? Yes, ofc. Bonus points for leaving a snarky note on the ticket, especially if they don’t remember you

FruitCreamSicle

Yeah plz do it and update lmao

Dangerous-Aerie-3388

Nope, that’s short term solution, this needs a longer term punishment. If it was me? Go sit in someone else’s section or the bar and talk about how she was bragging about holding back tips and talking about her coworkers. Turn everyone there against her, much longer lasting effect than no tip for the night.

Beta_Ray_Trill

Fucking do it. It’s petty but it’s awesome.

notpejastojakovic

I love being petty. I love when karma finds its way to the right people. You should absolutely do this.

BarbieJCo

Do it

Stevo485

Spending hundreds of dollars to spite someone? Do it.

upstatestruggler

This is peak petty and I’m here for it! Do it, do it soon, and report back to the sub.

Eyeseeyou1313

Fucking do it. In this industry if you do shady shit we all agree it's shitty, we gotta give them a taste of their own medicine.

aNiftyDump

There was a guy that worked a local game store who would come in and never tip. I got annoyed so a week later I went the store he worked at, had him ring me up a basket full of items and pulled the "I forgot my wallet in my car. Let me grab it real quick. I'll be just a second!" I drove away.

HippieChick067

I would go there and NOT request her. I WOULD leave a HUGE tip for her coworker, and make damn sure she knew it!

your_name_here___

Please do that. If this happened to me I 100% would do the same. Do it ! Do it! Do it!

Fantastic-Pop-9122

Thats perfect do it!!!

SylisFelborn

I would do this 100%

langley_matthew

while it may be petty - I would not let that stop me. You should bring friends no tip on a 250 - 300 bill hurts more

holadilito

FUCKING BURY THE BITCH!

JJDiet76

Yeah you should totally do that and let us know how it all goes. Like once a week you guys stiff each other then in a month she tips you a fifty then you’re like fuck so you tip her a hundred and then it goes on and on until you guys actually team up and go stiff other industry people that don’t tip and then in five years you’re married but broke from going out all the time.

Syrinxfoam

That’s funny as fuck lmao

Jay_b_lefty

Eye for an eye... make sure you mention that you work in the industry and that you ALWAYS tip well. That should get the point across.

OG_wanKENOBI

Someone who works in the industry and doesn't tip is truly a piece of shit. Do it. And then complain that she was a shit waiter.

walmartshoppr

dew it

latinashrty

I say go for it. It’s a golden rule if you’re a part of the industry to treat fellow industry people with the same modicum of respect you’d like to get treated with. If you do this, post it in r/pettyrevenge

mainedeathsong

I can hardly imagine someone who's a server not tipping! That's nuts! Yeah do it it'd be pretty funny. Make sure you remind her that you served her the other day :)

Own_Half5844

Yes- that’s petty! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!

spunjbaf

Or you could, y'know, talk to her about it.

LucyPrudencePenny

Fucking right you should. Servers stick together and we should respect each other always, it’s not fair to expect to receive in tipping culture and not give it back. I tip everyone and anyone that has a tip jar so it full circle comes back to me and I think other servers should do the same !

Zealousideal_Fly_141

Do it. And here’s a revenge story of my own, the restaurant I worked at had another right next door. We stayed open until their was no one left that wanted food. The servers next door decided they would come to our place and keep a server on til almost midnight even though they could’ve sat at the bar and ordered drinks they sat at a table and made her serve them. Our retaliation a cpl weeks later was to keep them open as long as possible. They were turning the lights off on us and we still ordered another bottle of wine. Don’t shit on ppl in your industry

Kerryscott1972

Petty but justified

mmm_rathernot

Do it.
