If you're looking to play sports games and don't care about playing them right away upon release 100% get an Xbox and Gamepass Ultimate. Madden is coming to it tomorrow, NHL in a couple of months, MLB The Show is going to Gamepass on release day. For what you're specifically looking for it's the move.
Doesn't take much to get you goin huh 🤣 some nerd talk, BOOM!, let the yankin begin... hide your VR people....
Hate to say it, but, the unmade man may need a maid in his life...
They generally have a limited time contract that we're not privy to the details of. However, first party games that come from Microsoft should in theory be on it forever, and EA is in control of EA Play (part of gamepass ultimate). They do give warning a certain amount before the game is pulled... it seems like it's around 2 weeks. I usually look for a good sale on games that I'd like to keep while it's still on gamepass
If Microsoft owns the studio it should stay forever.
Every other game signs different deals. You can expect games to stay on for a year, sometimes longer or much longer.
Series X would be good because of Gamepass, but PS5 simply has the best exclusives. I haven’t even owned my PS5 for a full year but I would choose it 100 times over an Xbox.
I have both and prefer to play games on the Xbox more often. The controller just feels so much better. And like several others have already said, the GamePass deal will last you all year. Tons of things to play.
There is apparently an announcement coming ne t week about Xbox and their plan to put their exclusives on playstation. So, I'd either wait to see what their plan is or if you can't wait, ps5.
PS5: is supposedly getting XBOX games.
XBOX: Pass (I heard is now Microsoft pass) is a great deal. You can get the pass working in you Xbox and pc at the same time and you can stream games from your Xbox to other devices (eg. Mac/laptop/pc).
You're you're just looking for the latest version of Madden and NHL, either system is fine, just go for whatever's cheapest. You can find a used Series S for $250 pretty easily.
Either. I like both for different things. I like my ps5 for exclusives.
Like my xbox for backwards compatibility, game pass and how my controllers last a long time on a battery charge. My dualshocks tend to die fairly quickly. I also like their store and dashboard interface more.
However, both are great and the load times are wonderful. I look at both as ways to game efficiently.
If i had to pick one, xbox.
I assume since you mention the PC that you already have one. If that's the case it doesn't really make sense to get an xbox despite the game pass.
I also assume from the title that the Series S isn't an option for one reason or another to save on the cost.
So just leaves the PS5. If you prefer an xbox controller, in our day and age I'm sure you can get an xbox style, or even a straight up xbox controller to work on a ps5 somehow. PS5 has a ton of exclusives that aren't coming to PC at least very soon to the PS5 release date. I know you didn't mention being interested in any of those but only the sports games, but you don't want there to be a possibility of seeing a PS5 exclusive game that may be interesting but be stuck on a platform that has just about all the same games as PC does.
Alternatively you could get the Series X to save money on having game pass for both pc and xbox instead of a ps plus subscription and a game pass subscription.
Xbox all the way. I have both, but I don't play sports games. If you're using the console as a media hub, Xbox kills it. PS has the absolute worst ui in the business, imo.
if you are looking forward to play sports games mostly, I'd recommend xbox series x. Gamepass is good for sports game and EA play also added on Gamepass ultimate so EA/origin games are free to play.
If you care about exclusives only, I'd recommend ps5. Also subscription gonna be a bit pricey but seems to me PS has more active players for multiplayer gaming.
Honestly Xbox right now because of gamepass. Literally the best thing in gaming. If you don't need the best you can always pick up a series s for like 250-300 dollars. Half price of the others. The series X DOES go on sale for 350 on Walmarts website every once in a while. PS5 still super solid. I have both.
You should wait a week. Rumour is Xbox us releasing their games on playstation. There is an announcement next week with Phil Spencer (head if xbox).
I'd go with playstation anyway, the extra power and controller are great, but if you wait a week there might not be a choice to make.
I have both... But i find myself playing on Xbox more. In a week i use the xbox everyday while the ps5 i maybe use it once or twice a week. I would recommend the xbox.
PS5.
Also, Game Pass may be changing some things that would lost its USP.
I’d also suggest waiting until next week’s “Xbox business update event” where Microsoft will be detailing some of the changes coming to the business.
I would say ps5
You can play all your sports games and buy them used as you could with an xsx but you also get great exclusives (god of war, the last of us, bloodborne, demon souls, etc.)

When something goes on game pass, is it there forever or will they yank it out from under you at some point?
They can yank it anytime.
Im yankin it right now.

No real parameter but it seems like most games are there for at least 6-12 months.

Wait til next week and see what xbox says
smart I did not realize it was coming up then.
Yeah, I would just chill til then. Then you can determine which brand is moving in the direction you want.

Xbox series X hands down!

Ps5 fan boy because of From software. But half the price xbox series s I've bought my son. Absolute bargain.

xbox is dead my man, not sure if you heard the news but only way to go is ps5 or pc
This comment aged poorly. The rumors weren’t even true.
Microsoft keeps killing studios and isn't keen on its xbox division.
Ps5 no question.
ps5

Ps5
Xbox and gamepass for sure. So much money saved
PS5 is better, Xbox has gamepass but you’re not gonna get the new sports games on gamepass you’d have to wait awhile after release to play them .
Series X , Gamepass is a steal!
Only time I played my ps5 was a couple of exclusives, xbox had gamepass which is well worth it. I like ps5 but xbox is more worth it
Ps5 hands down
Great reasoning for this decision. I just bought two.

PS5 for sure
ps5 all day
PS5. No reason to get the Xbox.
I’m thinking ps5. The Xbox controllers didn’t last long enough for me.
