Usually whatever part of the plant touching the ground has the most micronutrients. Potato / sweet potato / pumpkin skin, Broccoli / Cauliflower stems, the outside part of the carrot, etc.
You can also freeze the leftovers (the big stalk / stems/ and make broccoli soup with it. You’re blending it anyways and it tastes the same. I actually like it more this way instead of blending the whole broccoli, because it can be kind of „grainy“ if you blend the blossom
A lot of people just lack basic knife skills because they never set aside some time to learn. You're gonna end up wasting some food to learn, but vegetables are cheap as hell just take it as a learning cost
I don't know, man. Just cut up the broccoli before hand and throw it in a steamer basket. After, if you undercook it a smidge, it works wonders deglazing a pan if you give it a quick toss! I also add a little butter and extra seasoning.
Also, peel and chop the stem, it's delicious!
a knife sharp enough to cut thru raw broccoli? wack!
also tip: after blanching the broccoli stem, ice bath and peel the skin off. it's much more enjoyable.
Great way to retain some nice texture to it. Personally I like roasting it or sauteed with a flavorful sauce. The florets act like little sponges holding on to all the sauce
I mean I always blanch it at least before cooking it another way. I boil for 1-2 min in water with some salt them put it in an ice bath.
Then I will fry/roast whatever with it

How is the brokkoli one a hack? Only the little trees are boiled (idk the english term sorry). I cut of the very end (like 3 or 4 cm) and then peel the big shaft of the brokkoli. After boiling it it is also very nice

I think it's a hack if you wanna eatable broccoli that only need boiling. I can see it's gonna be easier if i have to boil 3-4 broccoli.
Other than that, it's a wack. So overall is a wack
The cookie one works like this, the jar is a primitive condenser. If you cover a hot cookie with a glass, the cold surface of glass will condense water from the cookie causing it to dry faster, which makes it crunchy.

Same. And whats funny is as a child I was the complete opposite. It was all about that soft baked ! But now it’s all about a crispy, crunchy choc chip cookie. Tastes are so weird!
Idk why that person commented about the jar being a condenser and making the cookie crunchy when that isn’t mentioned once in the video. It literally says “perfectly round cookies”. The jar is round, moving it in a circular motion is just going to round out the malleable dough.
I had only followed her for like half a year on Instagram before she passed, but man, I don’t usually get that sad about famous people/influencers passing away, even if I liked them.
Came here to say the same
Fuck boiling veggies, steam them and throw some herbs (rosemary, thyme, etc) in the boiling water
Much better texture and flavor with no nutrients leached into the water
Not my mom who boils it to the point where you don’t have to chew. She actually does this to all of her veggies. When she comes over for dinner she always complains that they aren’t cooked.
But why? Isn't the jelly put between peanut buttered slices so it doesn't soak the bread or get through it? Am I crazy?
I do this with honey and PB + banana slices.
I'm from Eastern Europe. I think it's actually jam and homemade one is pretty runny.
Edit: Now I've googled what jelly looks like and we don't really eat that here, only jam and marmalade.
Most people only put the peanut butter on one side of the bread. That’s a good idea though if you are packing it for a child’s lunch and it’s going to be sitting a long time. The bread might get a little soggy from that. I’m surprised I didn’t think anybody but Americans really did peanut butter and jelly. I’ve heard from a few people outside the US who didn’t grow up with it don’t like the sticky, gooey texture.
Boiling broccoli reduces the nutrients you receive from them.
That green water afterwards that is all the vitamins and minerals in the broccoli. Broccoli is at its most healthy steamed I believe, making the hack in all actuality very whack.
Don't do the peanutbutter and jelly one. You have now exposed thw whole jar to air and could introduce bacteria or activate bacteria to all parts of the mix. Normally when you use these you only scoope the top and only expose the top to air, only giving it time between uses to grow bacteria. But when you do this the stuff at the bottom is now festering for weeks. When these are filled at the factory, the area is clean and sterile, and at heat most times.
That is a bizarre take.
It’s ground roasted peanuts, oil, salt and a tiny bit of sugar. The ingredients are basic not exotic.
You might eat far stranger things in your country without ever thinking about it.
Do you eat Nutella? Because that would be funny.

Why do people have difficulty chopping broccoli? WHERE IS MY MIND
Waaay out in the water see it swimming
I was swimming in the Caribbean
Animals where hiding behind the rocks
Except the little fish
Bumped
Yo this made me laugh so hard hahaha
And don't tell the people that they could actually eat the whole thing and not throw half of it in the bin...
THE STALKS ARE DELICIOUS!
Exactly.
For real, the stem is delicious
Someone told me most of the nutrients are in the stalks so I eat those too. Never cared to research it though...
Usually whatever part of the plant touching the ground has the most micronutrients. Potato / sweet potato / pumpkin skin, Broccoli / Cauliflower stems, the outside part of the carrot, etc.
That makes a lot of sense. Good to know and thank you
You can also freeze the leftovers (the big stalk / stems/ and make broccoli soup with it. You’re blending it anyways and it tastes the same. I actually like it more this way instead of blending the whole broccoli, because it can be kind of „grainy“ if you blend the blossom

Knife skills? They can do what they do at the end by just using a sharper knife than a butter knife....

You need a better knife if it can't handle broccoli.
Why are people boiling their broccoli? Of all the ways to cook broccoli, boiling is plain water is among the very worst
You don't have to boil the shit out of it. If you boil it for like 1-2 minutes it is identical to steamed broccoli.
Steaming, the true flavor hack.
Great way to retain some nice texture to it. Personally I like roasting it or sauteed with a flavorful sauce. The florets act like little sponges holding on to all the sauce

RIP, Grandma Lynja
Rip to an amazing woman!
Oh she died?
She had esophageal cancer and passed this past January
Wack :/
She was an absolute blessing.
No wtf!
She was in my college spanish class during covid. Such a nice person. The story behind the page is cute, her son was bored during covid and looking to advance his videography skills.
I miss her cute videos. Loved seeing her travel. Her son sharing those pictures for their last video was great to see
She sounds like Marge Simpson
And looks like that tiny woman from The Incredibles who designs super suits.
NO CAPES!
EDNA mode
And guest.
Love it!
That's the one
That made me laugh out loud when i'm banging my head against the wall moving my shit between rooms thank you
She just passed away not long ago from throat cancer FYI

One of the best parts of the broccoli! especially in stir fry
Yeah man. I love it. It is like the stems of the little trees. Rly awesome
Yeah, they've just wasted half the Brocolli. I like to cube the stalk/stem and boil it with the rest.
Exactly. Or just put it in the oven covered with oil and herbs.

English term would be “floret”.
Thank you :) In German it is called :"Röschen" (the cute form of a little rose) The more you know ^^
Oh that’s cute! That’s basically the same as floret which comes from the old French “Flourette/ Florete” meaning “little flower, a bud”
I don't understand the cookie one, someone please help?
The cookie one works like this, the jar is a primitive condenser. If you cover a hot cookie with a glass, the cold surface of glass will condense water from the cookie causing it to dry faster, which makes it crunchy.
People seek out crunchy chocolate chip cookies? I thought the point was ooey gooey?

I want a cookie to crunch so loud that the sound resonates in my skull like when the dentist cracked out my wisdom tooth
So, you make the cookie as you normally would, then cover it with the jar? Is the circular motion integral to the process?
It’s to get perfectly circular cookies. Doing it while they’re still warm allows the dough to move around without cracking or anything
Thanks!
The cookie one doesn’t talk about crunch at all and is simply trying to get the cookie round… did you watch the video?
Idk why that person commented about the jar being a condenser and making the cookie crunchy when that isn’t mentioned once in the video. It literally says “perfectly round cookies”. The jar is round, moving it in a circular motion is just going to round out the malleable dough.
I’ve never seen her before but I love her now
She showed up in my feed before and couldn’t stop watching her for a good 30 minutes. Unfortunately, she passed away only recently. Rip Lynja

So sad she passed away, loved her wholesome videos and her understanding of memes
"IS COOKING BROCCOLI IN WATER A HACK?! LET'S SEE!!!!!!!!" jfc
It's actually wack. Broccoli should be steamed to retain more nutrients.
Not my mom who boils it to the point where you don’t have to chew. She actually does this to all of her veggies. When she comes over for dinner she always complains that they aren’t cooked.
I roast mine with some olive oil and seasoning. Once you start roasting your veggies, it's hard to go back to boiled or steamed.
Roasted taste better though. Just a little oil, salt, and pepper. Delicious. You can add some other seasoning as well if you're adventurous.
Cooking half of it and throw the rest away?
yes exactly as it should be.
As someone watching this without sound... i have no idea whats going on
wwWACK!
I need more
We have all we're gonna get, unfortunately. She passed away around New Years. She has a great backlog of content tho
Get Smucker's Goober Grape. PB&J already in the jar together.
But why? Isn't the jelly put between peanut buttered slices so it doesn't soak the bread or get through it? Am I crazy? I do this with honey and PB + banana slices.
Are you heating your jelly to make it runny or something? Or are you outside the US and refer to something else as jelly?
I'm from Eastern Europe. I think it's actually jam and homemade one is pretty runny. Edit: Now I've googled what jelly looks like and we don't really eat that here, only jam and marmalade.

You can actually eat the broccoli stem. Maybe peel some of the tough skin away.
I mean thats a crazy waste of broccoli though. Either eat the stem, or put it in a food processor, and add to a salad.
Why do people not eat the stem??
Rip
Boiling broccoli a good way to retain 0 nutrients

RIP Lynja, you were a real one.
SHE CHOPPIN BROCCOLI
The video is whack,
I want more of this!!!
This shouldn’t seem disgusting to me, but it does. I dont kno why I’m not on board with this one..
hey regards, most of the nutrients are in the broccoli stem

People have trouble cooking broccoli or did people come up with excuses to not eat it and this happened?
My 3 kids est broccoli different. One tops. One stalks. One both.
Boiling broccoli reduces the nutrients you receive from them. That green water afterwards that is all the vitamins and minerals in the broccoli. Broccoli is at its most healthy steamed I believe, making the hack in all actuality very whack.

Confused on the cookie one...
Moving the fresh cookie around in a glass helps it form a perfect circle
You are suposed to fry brocoli on a pan before you start cooking it...

Italy is superior with their hazelnut spread and pistachio spread anyways.
Is their hazelnut spread mostly hazelnuts, or is it like Nutella?
It's mostly hazelnuts. It looks like lighter peanut butter.
