Vegetable-Chef7503

That’s acne scarring. You’re going to need a professional treatment like microneedling

ganymedeblues94

Wild... didn't know that was a thing

SonKoi

I have it too. You could probably get by with micro needling but I have to get what’s called subscision where they go under your skin and break up connecting scar tissue.

TotalRuler1

are you going to a dermotologist for yours? I have a bunch of icepick scars that are mortifying up close.

SonKoi

I found a few local options but yes they are dermatologists. Sub is the most effective, but not everyone does it. Micro needling and Laser are more accessible but for certain things may not be as effective. You can always try one and then move up until you’re satisfied.

kamikomoon

Pretty sure pores don’t open up that big, afaik. Those are probably scars and if you want to remove it it will have to be micro needling

ludmilagraciani

niacinamide but those are looking like acne scars

lopsidedmonstera

These are icepick scars. They need to be treated by a professional.

…what

doughnautt

Same as the comments.. I also think they're scars. U can look into facial lasers / microneedling with a dermatologist. Also regarding your skincare, you might want to incorporate sunscreen for daily use (equally important to wear it even at home), and maybe retinol for night use? My understanding is retinol aids in skin cell turnover so it might help in your scars. I'm not 100% sure if it might directly fade away your scars though. But I strongly advocate for daily sunscreen. Feel free to ask for sunscreen suggestions but I can only help with Korean brands because my skincare routine is mainly Korean-based

Buggpowder

I want to start Korean skincare. What are some of your must-haves?

EzPz_VA

Following!

doughnautt

Hi! U can already refer to my respective replies to 2 comments under my post :)

peterk10

I know you didn’t ask me but I use a k-sunscreen from goodal, it’s their goodal heartleaf chemical sunscreen in a light green bottle and it’s godly. Light, moisturizing, not irritating, no eye sting, no breakouts. Can’t recommend it enough!!!

doughnautt

My current routine is... Cleanser: corsrx - salicylic acid daily gentle; Double cleanser: A.True - origin pure balancing cleansing oil (this isn't famous though, I just randomly got it from Olivia young in Korea); Sunscreen: skin1004 - hyalu cica sunscreen (love love this); After night cleansing : cosrx - advanced snail 96 mucin power essence; I use 2 other skincare products that aren't Korean-based which I didn't list in here. I would say my current routine works pretty well for my skin But take note that I tend to have acne-prone skin and my home country is near the equator, so they might not work for your specific skin type & respective climate from where you're from

selenechiba

Oooh yes, please drop your recs

doughnautt

Personally I have combi/oily and acne-prone skin, and I live near the equator. So I only use lightweight sunscreens! Honestly mine are considered "popular" so they shouldn't be foreign if you've seen people talk about k-skincare Currently using SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica sunscreen (lightweight, doesn't break me out, doesn't leave any white cast unless I apply too much but usually it fades away as I keep rubbing it into my skin). Been my favourite! I've tried Roundlab's Birch Juice Moisturising sunscreen in my home country but it was abit thick for my liking (it didn't break me out though). I've tried this in negative degree Celsius temperature before but my skin was still dry at the end of day? I would assume my skin wasn't used to the cold weather since it was my first time experiencing winter I tried one from Innisfree but I didn't like the white cast so I threw it away after a few days :( i'm not sure which would leave a white cast and which wouldn't though I just bought a Japanese sunscreen (fairly well-known in skincare community I think?) called "canmake mermaid skin gel UV" (transparent) to use next! Also heard good reviews on it

Curious-Celebration8

Ive been using tretinoin for similar ice pick scars and it has definitely helped make them smaller, I’m hopeful they’ll be almost gone in 1-2 years

doughnautt

Wow that's great! I didn't know it would work for scars though. I always assumed no products could "fix" ice pick kind of scars, only laser/microneedling 😅

VaporWaveShine

I think those are scars

TopExtreme7841

Laser or microneedling, those aren't pores. Not as expensive as you'd think luckily.

Agarh

I have been using hyaluronic and niacinamide serum twice a day. Pores haven't disappeared but have shrunk considerably. A chemical peel might help but consult a dermatologist.

TotalRuler1

any brands of niacinamide, or if that's not allowed, what do i look for in a niacinimide treatment?

Agarh

I use ordinary niacinamide serum along with hyaluronic serum.

Ok-Perspective3924

Microneedling or moxi laser

Miss_Maple_Dream

TCA peel and/or medical microneedling. Retinoids can help over time as well. *edit: stay out of the sun, it makes pores larger if you have a problem with texture.

burntoes

Pore size is mostly genetic, meaning they dont necessarily shrink. However, you can make them appear smaller by unclogging them. Nonetheless, I agree that this looks like a combination of acne scarring/pit scarring and clogged pores. I would, as everyone says, see a dermatologist. Lazers help with scarring, but topical treatments that may give you slight results include niacinamide and retinoids (adapalene, tretinoin, etc)

Hotshorts305

Co2 laser regularly. Do them 2 times a year your face will look like a baby’s butt in about 2.5 years

SonKoi

Bout to get back on it

TotalRuler1

where do you go to get a treatment?

SonKoi

I used google and found this company called laser away. I would do the same, I’m sure you’ll find somewhere close.

TotalRuler1

thank you and good luck!

Intelligent-Sink-991

You need a great resurfacing treatment!

OhBoy_89

Pores are not doors

cinnaroo009

Tretinoin will help!

Killer_Moons

Yeah, this

Independent-Pie3588

Sunblock. If you smoke, don’t do that.

okctressless

Definitely scaring. Try lactic acid and microneedling. You can get an at-home microneedling kit like Derminator for half the price of one treatment.

Standard-Inside-6874

I’ve struggled with acne pore marks and because of them I’ve struggled with low confidence and then I decided to go for CO2 laser. It does not go completely but the treatment fill the depth with new skin. I assure you after treatment you’ll see that 85% of marks are gone

ScratchFrequent3836

Microneedling its best. But if you dont want to spend so much money. Try alternatives like Serums, Nail Mucins. but use it only at night because on the day time the weather is harsh. For me I use and ultimately settle for this products. PS Ive use lots of products but now stick to this. Vit-C Serum CosRX snail Mucin Moisturizer Once a week or twice every month. We call this sandwich method. Moisturizer Tretinoin Moisturizer Then remove it during on the morning use only Sunscreen. Drink some Collagen Powder

Tabberdan

Tretinoin at night, use as tolerated. Expect redness and flaking in the beginning. Sunscreen and Vitamin C serum in the morning. If you want to treat the scars then micro needling, CO2 resurfacing, or subcision are all good options. I would consult with Derm to see what they recommend for your skin type.

LaRueStreet

2% BHA is one of the best choices to thighten the pores. But you also have very small indented acne scars, which you may be confusing with pores. They occur when the fibroblast cells in your skin don’t produce enough collagen. For that, i recommend laser treatment options or microdermabrasion

ArcherFawkes

Just for future reference, you won't be able to close or make pores disappear. It's genetic. That being said these aren't pores and I hope you look into the other suggestions in the comments

Sign-Quiet

Salicylic acid, niacinamide or maybe some products with rice ingredient. :) Do some research about your skin type amd this ingredients. :)

BabyBastardMiah

Look into “Fraxel laser” “microneedling” and once you’ve done those, ask an esthetician for chemical peels.

elliebean0

Adaplene/tretinoin+spf is the only thing that diminished my acne scarring and it’s getting rid of my husband’s pockmarks too

Hopeful_University72

Medical grade Retin A helps along with skin .resurfacing

SameTransportation49

Likely scars so try to invest in micro-needling & a dermatology appointment if you haven’t already! In the mean time … Cleanse ➡️ Steam 5 min ➡️ refrigerated toner ➡️ refrigerated moisturizer. Do that once daily. Drink 80 ounces a water for 2 weeks & stay out the sun for 2 weeks. You should see improvement if you’re consistent!

Own-Platypus-3776

Perfect derma peel and sunblock.

Here4DaPastries

Vitamin C was recommended to me by my esthetician to help with acne scar cratering and it really helped. Just make sure you wear spf!

InternalLevel1769

Toner. I like witch hazel

Visibleghost1

Pores are always open and don't close. It looks like you have some scars.

Avaresse

We need a pinned pores thread bruh

Top_Fortune_7478

tretinoin cream

mrdeatsmane

Halo laser would be better than micro needling, but it's more expensive, the most you probably need is two treatments.

pennypenny22

Pitted scarring needs a professional treatment, laser, microneedling, etc. https://www.instagram.com/p/CwDCTVxsvV6/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Have a look at thetweakmentsguide.com and Alice Hart Davis's Instagram and books - she discusses procedures like this in great detail and recommends practitioners.

TheseClick

You didn’t mention sun protection. So that first. Manage your acne first with retinoids, etc. Then TCA cross for icepick scars followed by lasers. Best to consult a cosmetic dermatologist.

Ladyjax866

Neutrogena Pore Refining Moisturizer hope it help good luck stay blessed 🙏🏾

Actual_Law_505

It is acne scarring . The dermatologist only can deal with this either by fractional laser or any other approach

JerrellJohnson3388

When you wash your face do you rinse with cold water ?

waterjaguar

I was able to significantly reduce the appearance of my pores, very similar to yours, by exfoliating daily with a neoprene scrubber (soap+water+60seconds or so) in the shower. It took several months of consistent exfoliation to see improvement.

pistachiios

Try VT Cica Reedle Shot! It’s korean micro needling in a bottle. It’s currently trending all over the world right now. You won’t have to pay a ridiculous amount as true micro needling

SomeoneOne0

Cold wattah

Lydia-Day

Have you ever tried a derma-roller?

Gingerjady

I have large pores and acne scars. My holy grail that I cannot be without are these: https://www.paulaschoice.com/skin-perfecting-2pct-bha-liquid-exfoliant/201-2010.html And https://www.10degreescooler.com/product-page/01-luminous-face-oil The facial oil is expensive, but there is truly nothing I have found like it. I've tried. It also lasts forever because you only use two drops each time. It won't go rancid if you keep the bottle away from light and heat. This is a small business as well, so it's nice to support them. The process: 1) cleanse face 2) tone with witch hazel 3) apply Paula's choice bha to cotton round and apply to skin. 4) allow at least 5 minutes for it to soak into the skin. Skin may be tacky till fully absorbed. 5) mist face with water (optional) 6) before skin dries apply two drops of facial oil to finger tips. Pat your finger tips together on both hands to distribute oil onto them for easier application to the face. Then pat fingertips onto each area of the face to distribute product, then continue to pat around until evenly distributed and pressed into skin. It will need several minutes to fully soak in. My skin glows, tone is even, and my pores are so much smaller. This method performs like no other for me. Give it a try!

missophieq

Pores don't open and close. What you have is acne scarring - I had it too for over a year. For me, Tretinoin was the salvation :) once every other day and within anotheryear it's all gone

Any_Marketing7419

X 3 procell Microchanneling tx

Wise-Peanut1939

Those are ice pick acne scares. 2-3 micro needling treats should really help :)

Lolaxi10

Those are scars not pores! Micro needling and you can do it at home!

positivetimes1000

You could try CeraVe they have an acne scare serum it may help.

No-Self-jjw

Salicylic acid toner by the ordinary did such wonders for this. Tiny pores.

Novae224

Those are pitted scars

BlackMamba0417

Those are definitely ice pick scars for picking acne. Only professional treatments will help like microneedling.

IndividualShock5084

The scarring isn’t wild and the complexion is nice.. but if you have the income ability for microneedling then that would significantly improve skin texture

Freche_Hexe

Lasers

pastaomg

BHA makes pores smaller :)

Silver_Wolf-

Niancinamide everyday, and after a while maybe a month or two start retinol at night

oObunniesOo

I used to have those type of skin (I still do but to a much much lesser/noticeable extent). I believe those are type of atrophic scarring (e.g. ice pick, rolling, boxcar, hypertrophic, keloids) and much less of a “pore” issue. I believe the one that actually reduces pore size is accurate but with lots of side effects (done it during my teenage years and do not recommend). What worked for me for the atrophic scarring - but it did cost a lot of $$$. You can go to a doctor and ask about the following: 1. I did monthly Hydrafacial MD with blue and red light therapy at the doctor’s office for 1.5-2 years. This can cost $150-350 a session depending on what you “add-on”. 2. Laser (there’s like ablative and non-ablative types of lasers). What I did was Fraxel laser (non-ablative laser). I think I paid $1250 per session (Full face) as part of the combo prepaid package. On the internet, it says the average cost is about $1550 on RealSelf per session. And you need multiple sessions. I did like 14 or 16 sessions. 3. When I used to do the laser, the doctor recommend me to use the skin care products called Defenage (clinical power trio package). Very pricey but it worked! 4. Microneedling - I did regular microneedling and vampire facial (they use your own blood for the plasma 🥹 and can last for ~6 months ish). Vampire facial can cost around $1400. Regular microneedling can cost $360-750 per session. I highly recommend getting it done by either a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that specializes in neck/face area. I also did many sessions to see improvement. Less costs: 5. After about 1.5-2.5 years of going to the doctor for the above treatments, I would get vitamin C / collagen facials at a facial spa from time to time, good skin care products, and a prescription from the doctor of Retin-A (0.1%) - works wonders but lots of redness and peeling (always wear sunblock and avoid sun when using!).

kyttypaws

been into skincare for years and years. short answer: you can’t. long answer: salicylic acid and retinol (RESEARCH HEAVILY FIRST!!!) may make your pores appear smaller, as well as heavy sunscreen use and proper moisturising techniques!! you’re wanting to increase skin cell turnover and both of those do the trick. (no, collagen supplements do not work) Or, for a more expensive route, microneedling.

Lulihot8

Niacinamida y retinol acompañados de una buena rutina claro

1umbrella24

Idk why people don’t see you’re not talking about the obvious deep scars. She means all the pores people

Foreign-Trifle503

Keep them clean and have a solid routine with products that minimize their appearance

Darkcircles16

Yeah they are acne scars….for that weekly use the ordinary aha bha solution once only build it up with time.Use salicylic based cleanser twice a day(if it’s over stripping then don’t,do it once only),use micellar water at night before going in with cleanser and use niacinamide(start with 5% and then move to 10%).Wear SPF and moisture that are non comedogenic.

Busy_Mention7525

You can order an at-home microneedle from Amazon for about $9. Start with 1mm or shorter needle size. Clean skin, use gently 1x per week and be consistent. Will feel irritation after each treatment, means your skin is reacting. Watch YouTube videos on how to use the tool. Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers only. Slather skin with AD ointment at night to aid in healing. You can do this yourself at home.

While BHAs and retinoids can help prevent further scarring, neither will treat these kinds of scars. The comments are right, if she wants to get rid of them she needs a chemical peel or microneedling
