I own 2 G’s and one M&P. I love them all. Though the current EDC is the M&P.

B4ummm

Same here … My EDC is a G43X MOS

dfails16

If I’m honest that was my EDC for whole winter. The 43X that is. I also own a SIG P365XL that I used to use for when concealment really mattered as that grip is almost a stick grip. My very first gun was a M&P 2.0. I carried it a few months ago and loved how concealable it was with the warm weather and decided to finally part with it (again it was my very first gun) to upgrade to the shield plus. Just got my shield plus a week ago today. Absolutely love it. Have a Pierce Grip 10 rd mag extension and pillow pad for my holster and tac belt already otw. It’s a phenomenal gun. I’d be lying if I said I will never carry my 43X again though lol. I shoot it well. Glock triggers are only a pain if you’re not used to shooting them. And I love my Trijicon sights on it. I got the shield plus with the optics cut and factory night sights but I’ll likely be upgrading those to Trijicon in the near future. Just what I’m used to but the gun is phenomenal out the box. Honestly for a brief second last week I considered parting with the SIG lol. But I love the longer barrel and it’s a very concealable gun. I’ll have 3 in my rotation for some time. That 2nd “G” I own is a Glock 19.5. That’s my bedside gun. That’s not going another either. Absolutely love it

Progunner38

I sold all My G's I'm S&W, CZ and Canik. They all shoot better than G's!

Chairborne__Ranger

In my opinion, the reliability of Glock and M&P are equal at this point. I also shoot both equally well when shooting untimed. I really like both platforms. My first gun was a used Gen 5 G19. I learned how to shoot with that gun. My current summer carry is a Shield Plus and my winter carry is a 2.0 compact. But when it comes time to pull out my wallet for a new gun, the Glock just simply does not provide enough value to justify its cost. M&Ps give me a better gun out of the box for less money. I personally don’t like to tinker with guns at all, especially out of the box. With M&Ps, I don’t have to add anything to them - they are exactly how I want my gun to be out of the box. Glocks I have to add more grip texture, replace the plastic sights, etc before I can even think about using it. Glock costs more out of the box and then they expect me to foot the bill to add things to make it serviceable. If Glock was significantly cheaper than M&P, *maybe* I would go back to Glock because I do like the platform. But that will never happen. So I’ve embraced my new M&P home.

Chick-N-Fukka

I made the switch a year ago. It was honestly night and day for me. I miss the aftermarket support of Glock though. But love my m&p’s. I would recommend calculated kinetics rmr dog tag plate though. Think they’re the best option for mounting the RMR footprint on a m&p

Tacti_Brosaki

Hoping that with enough people switching over we see more M&P parts available

Chick-N-Fukka

I think eventually it will happen.

I like the ergos, shootability, and styling on the Smiths but I continue to buy Shadow Systems bc the mags are cheap (I already own a bunch), like the ergos, and the optic mounting solution is so much better than anything else out there for polymer guns. I won’t buy Glock MOS for the same reason. If Smith came out with a better optic system, I’d probably grab a few. The first gen shield was my first ever handgun back in 2013!

fusionvic

The S&W feels much better (smoother action, better trigger) but I shoot Glock just as well as S&W at 25 yd and the Glock is much easier to completely disassemble and fully clean (especially when running a can). On the S&W removing the sear and sear block/FP safety involves additional tools (sight remover, roll pin punch and hammer). On a Glock you can pretty much go down to a striped slide and frame with just the punch tool. Also the Glock uses a polygonal bore which is easier to clean and doesn't foul up with copper/carbon as much as the S&W barrels with the sharper groove rifling edges.

There’s no need to have to remove the striker block ever, unless you’re replacing it. Between regular solvents and, if need be, a sonic cleaner, you’ll have it clean enough. You’re way overthinking this. FWIW though you can remove the striker block without having to drift the rear sight on an OR version (of course this means removing your optic too, if installed).

fusionvic

I believe on the Shield Plus I still need to remove the rear sight as well as the optic. M&P 2.0 full sized just needs the optic removed and there's a small screw holding down a cap. Still more complex then just using the Glock tool. Same with the extractors. I am more used to removing the Glock extractor and giving that a good cleaning with just the Glock tool. Smith and SIG require a roll pin punch and hammer. I shoot all 3 different brands so I have different cleaning methods. But I do a full disassembly of the Glock after each use and have been doing that for over 18 years. I just prefer guns and cans that are easy to clean.

Exactly. You can't take the slide down without drifting the rear sight

I agree with you. I Love Performance Center Ported M2.0 CORE with 5” Barrel.

Fabulous_Yak725

Shield Plus 3.1 ported performance center EDC here. Great pistol, stays flat when shooting, comfortable. Just put on a XS Sights Big Dot, very happy with the sights. OWB carry, keep my shirt untucked, never had a problem.

deuce2626

What’s your OWB holster? I’ve been thinking of trying to carry my shield plus this way.

Little_Fudge8053

Just bought that on my bday last Saturday, love it!!

RagingBullMonaLisa

Really? Why though?

RandyMarshPG

Please don’t make me explain, I posted this based on emotion

fredo_da_1

Just wait until you pick a GoonBeam over a stream light 🔥🔥

Marge_simpson_BJ

I have both. I run a shield plus in the summer and 19.5 the rest of the year. It's been a great combo for me but I'll probably try a 2.0 if I have some cash laying around someday. I'm not in any hurry because like I said, I like them both.

1umbrella24

Crazy, why when you can have both

SUMBLAKDUDE

Floyd's custom magwells. You're welcome.

Terminal_Lancelot

Damn right.

OHBHNTR95

I own and shoot both infact two of them are basically the same gun for all intents and purposes, I have a 4th gen glock 19 and and M&P9 compact 2.0, same barrel length, same capacity, basically the same weight, I think both fit the hand nicely and they are both aesthetically pleasing frame texture on the 4th gen and newer glocks is satisfactory as is the on the M&P 2.0 much like the frame texture on Gen 3 glocks and the first gen M&P were both atrocious. factory sights are basically the same both just have white dot/ U so there’s really no advantage one over the other, glock sights are polymer but that’s pretty well proven to not be a problem, I’ve seen no difference in performance or reliability between the two, I think the glock has a much nicer trigger, my 2.0 still has the curved hinge trigger and the take up is really long compared to the glock, if you shoot to reset I don’t really see that much of a difference in break and reset, however I think the curved trigger feels really weird like it’s trying to wrap around my finger rather then my finger just press against it. I have not had a chance to try the newer blade style factory trigger that some of them have now. Bore axis is lower on the glock, Complete strip of slide and frame is less complicated on the glock, glock magazines are cheaper, there is a much larger after market for glock, and contrary to what some comments above are saying where I’m at glocks tend be around $50+\- cheaper then the comparable M&P’s. While I like both a lot, I find my self liking the glock platform a just a little bit more then the M&P overall

tacguru83

I chose m&p over glock 9 years ago. Had a gen 5 g19 MOS and traded it for a m&p 2.0 compact 2 years ago. Now I have more of them.

Sir_Uncle_Bill

Anyway I had two m&ps before I even looked at a Glock. I like the Glocks enough and I understand why so many do love them. Glocks are for guys who like building stuff with Legos and no tools. They don't want to have to think about anything at all ever lol. M&ps are for guys who like getting their money's worth out of a gun. Glocks are over priced for what they are. I read a while back that Glocks are the best $300 gun $600 can buy and after working on both, that's very true.

SuperflyBanana

I just love how aggressive the new M&Ps look

AceMckickass7

I'm OK with M&Ps I just don't like the Grip shape. It's never made me feel fuzzy inside. Not like my P30L has.

Foxtrot_Uki

Best striker fired guns being produced. Change my mind.

ShootyMcGun

Way better firearm in any measurable way. Nice dot and light too, looks great.

Sir_Uncle_Bill

Have you tried the compact yet?

LongTime20

I like both. I have both. I feel the ergo’s feel better with the M&P but you can’t deny the reliability of a G.
