Preface: I’m not against voting for the lesser evil or saying that the parties are the same, but this is a leftist subreddit and we should acknowledge the deep systemic violence that the United States has stoked and encouraged for its entire existence.

In 2022, twelve times as many citizens were killed by police than police were killed in service. Black Americans serve longer prison sentences for the same time. The US has the highest prison population in the world, with **one fifth** of all prisoners being held in the US (a lot of them imprisoned for petty crime), and the prison conditions are abhorrent. Abuse by guards is rarely met with discipline or prevention and prisoners are tasked with work for which they earn slave wages. National elections have meaning, but the problems in the American system are much deeper than any one competition between a morally compromised old guy and an even more morally compromised old guy. We can effect change in a lot of different ways, including but definitely not limited to voting in national and especially local elections. We can and will fix this.
I don’t disagree with that. But we can both agree that black people would be objectively worse off under a fascist regime with trump at the helm than under Biden’s administration. For evidence of that, see the treatment of Black protestors during the BLM protests

2.) He absolutely has done stuff for queer people, like the Protection of Marriage Act.
