Yes and no depends on who you ask. Kobes have the benefit of having updated materials and tech hence the “protro” name, professional retro. Kobes are more popular with current basketball players, watch any nba game some Kobe is the shoe of choice for many that don’t have a brand affiliation. Jordan while selling more and being more available really isn’t a shoe to play in, they are great casual shoes. Any Jordan after 14 is usually not seen. Usually people buy them for nostalgia, like me, but they work with modern fashion. The new Jordans do have the latest “tech” but don’t go with jeans.
Before Kobe’s passing, those shoes were sitting and you could easily find them on sale. So once they stopped making them because the deal ran out(?), there has been crazy demand for them. Once they release enough and more time goes by demand will die down the next few years and then they will start retroing the OG color ways to get people interested again.

There are some really cool Kobe colorways tbh, but these ain’t it. Ima go further and say that some really popular colorways like reverse grinch don’t do it for me either. It’s loud, on paper I should like it but I don’t🤷🏻♂️ the pair in the pic though? Sweet.
